Welcome back!!  It's been a weird March, and boy did we miss our podcast (and you!).  Hope you feel the same!  Sadly, the season was recorded just before the announcement regarding Avatar Studios and all that entails, or else our excitement for that alone might've taken up half of each episode.  Regardless, Jon and Jeff are back for the season 3 premiere, discussing book 2, episode 1 - "The Awakening."  Aang wakes up disoriented, hurt, on a Fire Navy ship, and most surprising of all - with hair!  Oh yeah, there's a lot to catch up on.  Yip yip, everyone!

We made it to the finale!!! Can you believe it's now been TWENTY episodes? Neither can we, but here we are. Jon and Jeff dive into book 1, episode 20 - "The Siege of the North (Part 2)." Arguably a top-5 all-time episode of the series, Team Avatar finds itself fending off Zhao and his Fire Nation fleet while Aang heads into the Spirit World for help finding the moon and ocean spirits. this episode has everything. We FINALLY enter the spirit world for real! Koh the Facestealer has enough creepiness and easter eggs for the whole series! Zuko vs Katara! Zhao vs the moon! Yukka vs destiny! KOIZILLA VS EVERYONE! No description could do justice to the epicness of this finale. What a way to end the season! Speaking of ending the season, it's been such an incredible first season, and there are many people to thank for helping make it so wonderful. First and foremost, our brother, friend, and fellow "Iceberg Boy," Teddy Hahn (@teddyhahn). Jon and Jeff are back to discuss episode 19 of book 1, "The Siege of the North (Part 1)."  But first, some depressing truths must be revealed to you wonderful listeners - first, we react to the incredibly sad news about Bryke parting ways with Netflix and their live-action reboot of Avatar: The Last Airbender.  Speculations abound!  Hope seems lost!  Second, that our episodes are prerecorded.  Ahh!  And then...the episode!  Sokka puts all the intel gatherers in the Northern Water Tribe to shame, Yue introduces Aang and Katara to a magical Spirit Oasis, Zuko risks his life trying to sneak his way to Aang with ZERO EXIT STRATEGY (more on that next episode), and Admiral Zhao has a massive Fire Nation Naval Fleet ready to descend on the North Pole.  And this is just part one!  Enough of this summary nonsense, get to listening!  Yip yip, everyone!

We're in the final stretch of Book 1 as Jon and Jeff discuss Book 1, episode 18 - "The Waterbending Master!"  Team Avatar has FINALLY made it to the Northern Water Tribe, and we see why they've been relatively unharmed by the Fire Nation after a century of war.  We'd hardly call this a "tribe" - more like an impressive kingdom.  But the majestic city and warm welcome doesn't last long when Aang and Katara realize his "chosen" Waterbending teacher - Master Pakku - is a sexist old curmudgeon who refuses to teach Katara because she's a female.  Don't worry, she makes him regret that decision.  Meanwhile, Admiral Zhao visits Iroh and Zuko and figures out Zuko's secret identity as the Blue Spirit - will this discovery make Zuko's plans to regain his honor blow up in his face?  All this pales in comparison to the most important storyline of the episode - SOKKA FALLS IN LOVE WITH A PRINCESS. "Yukka" fans, your moment has finally arrived! Yip yip, everybody!

Welcome back!  Jon and Jeff are joined this week by special guest host Marcus Cardona to discuss book 1, episode 17 - "The Northern Air Temple."  When Team Avatar hear about airbenders spotted very recently, they can't believe their ears.  Neither could we.  MORE airbenders?  Aang's supposed to be the LAST airbender! The gang is pleasantly surprised (maybe not Aang) to discover not airbenders but a group of refugees at the Northern Air Temple who, through some clever yet distasteful and culturally insensitive ingenuity, have made the temple their new home.  But that's not all they've turned it into, to Aang's fury.  Sokka and Katara, meanwhile, are having a ball.  Katara found an enthusiastic, inspiring new friend, and Sokka found the only person who may love pun-based inventions more than he does!  Last filler of the season, then it's full steam ahead to the finale!  Yip yip, everyone!

Jon and Jeff are joined by special guest host Lily Lester to discuss Book 1, Episode 16 - "The Deserter."  We're mixing light-hearted slapstick comedy with insidious propaganda this week as Team Avatar wander into a Fire Nation festival taking place in the Earth Kingdom. Soon after, a surprising opportunity reveals itself in the form of a  Firebending Master for Aang!  Will things work out, or will they - ahem - all go up in flames?  Will Aang ever stop putting people at risk to try and impress Katara? Is Zhao the "fetch" of Avatar: The Last Airbender, since they keep trying to make him happen? Is Chey (Jeong-Jeong's apprentice) working on a "tight five" stand-up routine or what?  And where's Zuko been?  So many questions, so many attempted answers.  Yip yip, everyone!

Happy Tuesday!  Jon and Jeff are back this week to discuss episode 15 of book 1 of Avatar: The Last Airbender, "Bato of the Water Tribe."  When the episode's title is enough to warrant a little love for the Iceberg Boys' favorite band, Dispatch, you know it's gonna be a good one.  Aang, Katara and Sokka stumble upon on old Water Tribe family friend, Bato, and suddenly being reunited with their father is a real possibility!  And what does the monk, the lover of all life, the vegetarian, the shining example of balance and harmony in the world think about it?  Well, he throws a hissy fit and feels left out.  Come on, Aang! Zuko and Iroh cross paths with a Street-Fighter-arm-wrestling badass named June with an even more badass companion.  Does Uncle Iroh have game, or is he just a creepy old man? Can Sokka master a makeshift coming-of-age ritual without killing everyone? Will Aang ever get over himself?  We dig into these questions and more!  Yip yip, everyone!

Special guest host Yoshiko Watson joins Jon and Jeff to discuss episode 14 of book 1, "The Fortuneteller."  When Team Avatar find themselves in a vollage that revolves around the wisdom of their prized fortuneteller, Aunt Wu, a chain of crushes develops.  What's worse, no one's sure if the person they're crushing on is crushing back, and Aunt Wu is being vague at best.  Except Sokka, who refuses to buy into any of that fortune-telling mumbo jumbo.  Oh, Sokka - maybe if you had a little more faith, you'd have better fortune.  Speaking of needing better fortune, turns out the nearby volcano's set to destroy the whole village, but no one believes their eyes because Aunt Wu is predicting they'll all be fine.  You could say it's a relatable storyline.  Yip yip, everyone!

Jon and Jeff are joined by special guest host Belton Delaine-Facey to discuss episode 13 of book 1, "The Blue Spirit."  After last week's storm, Sokka and Katara find themselves with a delirious illness, sending Aang off to discover the only way to help them is via frozen frogs.  But that's only the start of the weirdness! Zhao continues his inexplicable ascent up the ranks of the Fire Nation military, and thanks to some fancy new archers, manages to capture Aang.  Zuko isn't gonna let that slide - the Avatar is HIS to be captured.  Zhao's in good with the Firelord. But Zuko must regain his honor!  Capturing the Avatar is the only way!  Hasn't anyone been listening to him?! Clearly not, so Zuko goes full masked vigilante as he attempts to free Aang, and boy oh boy does it make for a wild ride. We've got a fan favorite this week. Yip yip, everyone!

Jon and Jeff are back this week to talk about the oft-derided 11th episode of book 1, "The Great Divide." There's a big ol' canyon Team Avatar has to get across, and they find themselves having to escort two rival tribes of refugees who've hated each other so long it's hard to tell if they even know the why. For one of the first times we see  residents from the same nation, all suffering loss from a shared enemy, still find selfish reasons to fight amongst themselves. Instead of bringing them together, these tribes nearly turn Team Avatar on each other! Luckily, Aang finds the strength to lie to everyone's face, tricking them into getting along long enough to get out of dodge.  Basically group couples therapy, with some terrifying monster attacks thrown in for good measure. Yip yip, everyone!

But she stole something that was already stolen by pirates, so it's okay, right? Right?! Zuko, at the same marketplace thanks to Uncle Iroh misplacing his valuable Lotus Tile, has yet ANOTHER group get in the way of his ability to capture the Avatar. Jon, Jeff and Teddy find Team Avatar making their way to a small Earth Nation town under the oppressing eye of the Fire Nation.  When a young earthbender named Haru gets arrested for using his bending to save a neighbor, they get to scheming, and a prison break is afoot!  Lots to talk about here.  Katara meets a another bender her age that isn't hunting them!  Team Avatar shows no sense of awareness when trying to pretend not to be two waterbenders and an airbender!  George Takai lends his voice in the best way!  Zuko shows up for maybe a minute!  Momo...EARTHBENDS?!! We're moving swiftly through book one, and it's only getting better.  Yip yip, everyone!

Jon, Jeff and Teddy are back, and this week they're all in on the Earth Kingdom.  Most notably, the City of Omashu.  Fan favorites are being intro'd at a lightning pace, and this week is no exception as we finally get to meet King Bumi and the one, the only, CABBAGE GUY!  Listen in as the Iceberg Boys admire the city's (and its King's) use of Earth-bending, from the front gates to a mail delivery system so cool it's criminal it hasn't inspired an Avatar: The Last Airbender theme park by now.  Aang gleefully reminisces about a childhood friend (and fellow schemer), gives his best old man impression, and does some intense strategizing when faced with three "outside the box" challenges.  Also Jeff makes an idiot out of himself trying to defend the episode's (popularly snubbed) animation quality,  the guys speculate about the intricacies of the cabbage industry, and is Omashu's central purpose now to be a supplier and distributer of weaponry for the Earth Nation army?  Last but not least, there's the most ripped-looking old man anyone has ever seen.  You can call it a filler if you want, and it sure is full!  Yip yip, everyone!

Surf's up!  Jon, Jeff and Teddy wade into the waters of episode 4 of book 1, "The Warriors of Kyoshi."  This episode, we're introduced to multiple fan favorites - the Kyoshi Warriors, Avatar Kyoshi herself, Suki, Aang's marble airbending trick, and foamy mouth guy!  Aang gets a taste of Avatar-celebrity and it IMMEDIATELY goes to his head!  Sokka shows himself to be very sexist, forcing Suki to reeducate him by putting him in his place while incidentally - ahem - FANNING the flames of love.  The whole podcast is almost derailed when a "movie-that-shall-not-be-named" name pronunciation occurs!  Oh also a terrifyingly massive eel known as the Unagi almost eats Aang and Zuko arrives and nearly burns the whole town to the ground.  It sure is a wild one!  Yip yip, everyone!

Hear about the show's first Agni Kai!  Yip yip, everyone!

Jon, Jeff and Teddy dive into the second episode of the two-part series premiere, "The Avatar Returns." Despite this being the second episode, this is very much an episode of "firsts," and they dig into what those are. Listen, laugh, love and cry as the fun continues, including us still figuring out how to get our audio to not sound terrible. It's the Fire Nation vs. a tiny village of unarmed civilians! Zuko vs. Sokka! Sokka vs. head boinks! Zuko vs. Aang! Zuko vs. head boinks! Sokka vs. flying and magic! Katara against everyone! Kids vs. teenagers! Appa vs. gravity! YIP YIP, baby!
