Did you know that The Apostle Paul gave a detailed instruction about how to fight the supernatural war going on behind the scenes?

We have been given instructions--and most importantly, armour to fight this war of the worlds.

Listen of watch so that you can be equipped to win your battle!

Supernatural battles have been going on since the Garden of Eden in Genesis.

Through the life of Jesus, and his apostles, there were many confrontations between the kingdom of light against the kingdom of darkness.

Here in Acts 19, an amazing story of confrontation happens as Paul is establishing a church in one of the most influential cities of the Roman Empire.

Despite the darkness, God's patience and power prevails, reminding us that his light will never go out!

In episode two of our new series, we look at another Old Testament battle.

There is a fascinating account between the capturing of the ark of the covenant, and a subsequent confrontation between Israel's God and the god of the Philistines, Dagon.

As we flip over to the New Testament, we see another glaring and public showdown between Jesus and the god of this world.

In this war, we fight with the authority of our King, and we are careful to shut the gates to the enemy.

You might have heard of the story of Israel, Egypt and the 10 plagues.

But have you considered this story in light of the spiritual battle beneath the surface? What is an Egyptian sorcerer, and where does his or her power come from?

What does it mean to confront the reality of evil as a Christian living in Montreal in 2026?

We hate waiting.

It feels like an eternity, it crushes us, and it also exposes us.

Waiting on God is even harder.

The story of the golden calf is a chilling insight into how easy it is for God's children to turn away. Instead of using God's good gifts as worship, they were used to construct a false god.

What if we updated this story into the app stores of our smartphones? What if we considered how easy these applications could be used to tempt us into idolatry?

The good news is the gift of repentance. It allows us to turn back to God, and receive victory that Jesus purchased for all his broken followers.

Do you know the story of Mary and Martha?

Both sisters were motivated to throw a great dinner party for their honoured Rabbi, Jesus of Nazareth.

However, Jesus said that Mary "chose the better path" than her sister.

When it comes to our phones and our time, how do we choose the path of Mary when tech companies are feeding us dopamine?

Have you ever seen the movie, The Matrix?

In this ground-breaking film, machines took over from the human race, and actually used humans to fuel their advancement. It felt far-fetched, even if the movie was filled with great action and a novel concept.

Today, it's hard to argue that many of us are addicted to our smartphones, if not all technology. This is something that both Christian and non-Christian experts are warning us about.

This message will help us contemplate the subject of freedom, and why as followers of Jesus, we shouldn't trade our freedom for digital chains.

View Details

We love it and we hate it. We need it and we want to run away to the forest to ditch our phones and live off the grid.

The Apostle Paul had a vital word for Christians living at the height of the Roman Empire in Romans 12:1-2.

A smaller group of tech engineers help program the thoughts and beliefs of over 2 billion people in our world today.

You are invited to join us for 30 days as we detox from our phones in order to reposition our minds, hearts, souls and relationships.

Each January, we have a few areas we have pinpointed for growth.

When it comes to your spiritual life, have you considered the pattern Jesus set?

In this message, you will see how Jesus intended for you to have a three dimensional life. When we prioritize these areas, we will not only grow quickly, but make a great impact on the people around us.

We all have ideas about how to make a new year just a little better.

Have you ever wondered what Jesus would want for your life?

In several teaching moments, Jesus was very clear about how he wants 2026 to be different than 2025 for his followers.

Watch or listen to see the heart of God for your new year.

One of the most important questions we ask is, Why am I here? What is the purpose for my life?

Mary had the same question when her life was disrupted during her engagement to Joseph.

Rather than follow the script of her mother, or friends in her community, she was given a life-altering gift.

Mary records a beautiful song of praise that highlights the might and the mercy of God.

Like Mary, we are invited to carry the story of God to those around us, and the generations coming behind us.

It’s a haunting and often painful question when we don’t feel like we fit in.

We might feel like an imposter at work, or an outcast at school, or have these episodes where we wonder if anyone actually cares for us.

The Christmas story is a story of belonging. But it is not our initiative to conform that brings peace.

It is the move of God to announce good news of great joy that brings peace—and belonging—with our Creator that changes everything.

The thrill of the chase to get the ultimate prize is often dangerous, but the payoff is always worth the cost.

Jesus told a famous story of two people who gave up everything for the ultimate treasure.

“It’s just a little thing that won’t hurt anybody.

I deserve it.

Why is this such a big deal?”

It’s a tale as old as time; we regularly justify sin for immediate gratification. And while it seems small and private, it’s actually something that impacts everyone around you…your family, your church, even your city.

In episode 7, the story takes a dark turn as Achan brings death upon all of God’s chosen people.

May this sermon help you to remember God’s holiness, and the incredible price Jesus paid to restore us.

Have you ever realized how much you need praise—not just to honor God, but to actually breathe?

In this powerful and fresh message titled “The Air We Breathe,” we explore Psalm 150 and discover why praise is more than a spiritual practice—it’s a life source. Just like oxygen, we often forget how vital praise is… until we’re running low.

🔥 Through a personal story of summer pool day gone almost wrong, and a deep dive into Scripture, this message reveals:

• Where to praise — not just in church, but everywhere

• Why we praise — for what God has done and who He is

• How to praise — joyfully, creatively, and fully

• Who should praise — everything that has breath!

This isn’t about a checklist of worship songs or religious performance. It’s about releasing pride, self-sufficiency, and performance so you can breathe in the life and power of God.

What You’ll Walk Away With:

• A deeper understanding of praise as a spiritual lifeline

• Permission to worship with your full self—body, mind, and spirit

• Practical ways to make praise part of your everyday rhythm

• An invitation to surrender and let God fill your lungs with purpose and peace

Scripture Focus:

Psalm 150 (NIV)

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”

Whether you’re new to faith or in need of fresh fire, this message will breathe new life into your walk with God.

In life’s darkest moments—when the job is gone, the diagnosis hits, or the doors close—we all ask the same question:

How do I respond to this chaos?

This powerful message explores the story of Paul and Silas in Acts 16, who chose to worship in the middle of the night, while imprisoned and beaten. Their praise didn’t wait for freedom—it brought it. For them. For others.

You'll also hear personal stories of immigration, loss, and unexpected peace—including a cancer diagnosis met with worship. These real-life moments remind us: Gratitude is not just a feeling. It's a decision.

What if your midnight praise is someone else's breakthrough?

This week’s challenge:

Each morning, name one thing you’re grateful for. In your midnight season, declare: Still, I will praise!

Scripture: Acts 16:22–34 (NLT)

Choose gratitude. Even when it’s hard.

Worship at midnight. You don’t need to wait for the miracle to praise.

What if love in marriage wasn’t about how you feel, but about what you’ve promised?

In this message, AJ and Joanne share powerful insight on the difference between consumer love and covenant love, and why only one of them can sustain a lifelong marriage.

This message will challenge and inspire you to build your relationships on something stronger than emotions: a promise.

Punk Rock, The Hippies, Tattoos and Hip Hop were once considered on the fringes of culture. Over time, they became mainstream as more and more people adopted their code and lifestyle.

Despite the many churches across Montréal and Canada, our culture today would be more aptly described as, Post-Christian or secular.

When Jesus came on the scene, he too was counter cultural. His views were vastly different than other Jewish Rabbis. In this signature teaching from Jesus in Mark 10, he reminds us that following his way runs counter to the systems of the world.

What was the most controversial part of Jesus’ life and ministry?

It wasn’t his miracles, or even his subversive teachings. What drew the ire of the religious leaders of the day was who Jesus ate with.

The table is a sacred space. In our world, the table declares your social value. The closer you sit from the head table, the more social capital you gain. Whether in the high school cafeteria, a wedding, or an important business function, the table has a way of revealing your value.

It was the same in the time of Jesus. But instead of maintaining the status quo, Jesus ate with the most surprising people. Whether lepers, tax collectors, or the non-religious, Jesus invited them in.

As we continue The Way series with Episode #4, may you be challenged to consider how you too can use your table to build bridges—instead of walls—across our city.

In one of Jesus’ most famous stories, he contrasted two sons and a father.

The story was to designed to describe the two ways that people rebel against God, and bring chaos to our lives. Even more importantly, it was a story designed to describe the character of God as Father. As Jesus tells this parable, it is clear that The Father is nothing like the one that we think about. This Father is FOR Rebels. All kinds of rebels…even religious ones.

Have you ever wondered how the message of Jesus started?

It was highly improbable that a Jewish Rabbi from Nazareth would lead a movement that would change history. Jesus outlived all the Caesars, and now about 2 Billion people follow this same Rabbi.

John 1 reminds us that the movement started with a simple invitation to “Come and See”. Skeptics, cynics, doubters and religious zealots were invited to meet Jesus for themselves. It is how the movement started, and it is how it is today across the island of Montreal.

You are invited to “Come and See” for yourself. We aren’t a perfect community, but we have found transformation through the person of Jesus.

In life's storms, are you sinking or walking on water? This week at City Church, we explored how trusting God can transform our perspective, even in the midst of chaos. Just as Jesus calmed the storm and invited Peter to walk on water, He's calling us to keep our eyes fixed on Him.

Remember, when life's waves crash around you, Jesus is right there, ready to catch you.

In the Democratic Republic of Congo and many African countries, people come from various tribes, each with its own distinct traits. We often recognize each other by our names and characteristics. This message will draw a parallel between being born again and acquiring the new traits that accompany this transformation. The Apostle Paul, in Colossians 3:12-17, outlines how we should live as followers of Christ, adopting the “new traits” of people belonging to a “new tribe.” As a conclusion, Orphee will introduce the book of Ephesians, touching on the importance of putting on The Armor of God to safeguard us from reverting to our old traits—the ways of the “old tribe.”

There is a lot of confusion today for high school boys and young men today.

In the first chapters of The Bible, The Garden of Eden is described as an idyllic place created by God for the first humans to enjoy. But this beautiful place where God and man could co-exist didn’t last long.

By the third chapter of Genesis, paradise was lost, and the first humans were removed from Eden.

Many people criticize The Bible for being haphazard, but in fact, the last two chapters of The Bible (Revelation 21 and 22) tells the story of Eden restored…and elevated. At last, God will once again dwell with His people, and His people will regain everything that was once lost.

What do you visualize when it comes to heaven? Do you ever think about it?

Many of us don’t think about heaven at all because we don’t have any clear or compelling vision for what it will be like. That is tragic, because so much of the hope that Jesus and his Apostles taught is derived from a theology of our forever home.

In this message, Pastor Chris will be our tour guide to help us better visualize what it will look like, what activities we will have, and why we should look forward to it.

What comes to your mind when you think about Heaven?

For many of us, we picture clouds, white robes and harps.

It’s no wonder that we are so far removed from the dynamic vision that Jesus painted for us.

As we kicked off this brand new series, we are going to fill in some of the pictures that will help us recover the hope for our true home.

In the Bible, the heart is much more than a physical entity.

The heart represented our will, morality, and the centre of our being.

While we tend to focus on fixing external realities, God focused on the internal. We life hack our way to make marginal gains, while God works on total transformation.

Watch or listen to Sunday’s sermon from Pastor Chris as he unpacks why the cross and resurrection means not mere maintenance, but a brand new heart.

We had an amazing Sunday Funday last weekend!

Whether you were in-person or online with us, we hope that you had a chance to celebrate that summer is on the way…sooner than you think.

Catch-up on Sunday’s message as our Pastor reminded us that rest is actually commanded by God so that we would escape the meaningless of endless work and production. Be reminded how Jesus personally invites us to experience deep rest. It is a gift that he personally offers his followers, laying down our burdens, and receiving his peace.

Like any relationship, we have to guard against complacency. Relationships don’t shrivel overnight; it is a slow withdrawal that destroys relationships over months and years.

In our relationship with God, we also must guard our hearts. Complacency and cynicism can destroy the vibrancy of our faith. Distractions are another avenue.

As we continue our series on Consecration, we invite you to watch the video, or listen to the podcast as you drive, sip on your coffee, or at the gym.

We hope this message helps to stoke the fires of your faith this week.

It is easy for us to to get discouraged in our spiritual life.

Whether personally or as a part of an imperfect community, we lament the slow progress, frustrations, and trials of everyday life.

It is in times like these that we need to anchor our hope in God’s activity around us. When we remember what God did for his people in the Word of God, or in contemporary examples, our perspective and our hearts are elevated.

This past Sunday, we learned about the incredible 24-7 prayer that lasted 100 years through the Moravians. Their faithfulness and consecration was used by God in phenomenal ways that continues three hundred years later.

Consecration is about fully devoting ourselves to God and Pastor Chris shared this great message from Joshua 3.

We are in the early days of our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting. Are you joining us?

Today's message from Pastor Chris is about the transition from one place to another. Before Israel stepped into the Promised Land, they were told to consecrate themselves before God moved on their behalf.

God created Adam and Eve to be his "eikons", image-bearers that would reflect His goodness, beauty, creativity and love throughout the universe.

But they didn't want to be ruled. They wanted to rule themselves and so the chain-reaction of sin and rebellion began. We have all inherited the "usurper" nature from our ancestor.

The Tower of Babel is the story of man trying to create a stairway to heaven, replacing their need for God.

Abraham was another attempt to create a brand new people, chosen people who would reflect God's goodness and love and truth to the world. But they too failed.

The Kings were another iteration. But if you know the story, each king failed--some spectacularly so.

The prophets came behind and warned Israel that their disobedience would lead to judgment in the form of slavery, poverty and death.

And they wrote about a better king, a better prophet who would come and right everything wrong.

This fly-over through the Hebrew Bible will give you a critical 30,000 foot view to see how Jesus not only helps you, but how he answers the brokenness seen in creation and the fall.

Welcome to a brand new teaching series!

What is the point of Christianity? Is Christianity relevant in the 21st century? Is there any good news for Christianity to offer our world?

Today, we are going to look at the gospel that the Apostles of Jesus spread throughout their world. Biblical scholars believe that 1 Corinthians 15:3-5 is the first Christian creed that was recited within the first few years of this brand new movement.

In this series, we are going to see how bigger, deeper, wider and richer the good news of Christianity truly is. It is much wider than just me. It is much deeper than just going to heaven when I die. It is much bigger than the church. And the good news is far richer than we ever understood.

We pray that this message and this series encourages you to embrace Jesus all over again, and that your devotion will shine much light where God carries you!
