The beginning of the book of Malachi is heavy. It can feel like God is trying to make us feel guilty for not being good enough. But that is not what this passage is about at all. The good news is that God loves us deeply. And because of His great love for us, He wants to make us aware of our serious heart issues that keep us from living in right relationship with Him. When we don’t value God like we should, we are in danger of giving God less than our best.

We are all broken sinners but we don’t have to live in guilt and shame. Instead, we can use our past mistakes to glorify God because of Jesus’ saving work on the cross. After dying on the cross to save us from our sins, Jesus continues to intercede and pray for us. So we are set free to be less defensive, to be for others instead of for ourselves, to fail freely, to lay down our accustions, and to intercede for others.

In John 15, Jesus teaches that he is the true vine. This image is still true for us today. When we abide or remain in him, we will bear fruit. What will that fruit look like? Love.

The human tendency is to ask, "where do I belong?" In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul reminds Christians that Jesus broke down the walls that kept us from God - bringing unity and transformation in our hearts.
This Sunday kicks off a series of sermons by various speakers and pastors.
Sabbatical #2 - Pastor Eric shares his hopes for himself and for the church during his upcoming sabbatical.

Sabbatical #1 - In Leviticus 25, God calls His people to rhythms of rest, not just as a break from work but as an act of worship and trust in Him. The Sabbath year gave rest to the land, provided for the poor, built community, and reminded Israel of their dependence on God. Sabbaticals help replenish us spiritually and guard against burnout. We must remember that rest isn’t wasted time—it’s God’s gift, shaping us spiritually and reminding us to rely on His provision.

Seven Signs #7 - This passage describes the moment when the risen Jesus appears to His disciples, bringing them peace and reassurance. He shows them His wounds to confirm His identity, and then breathes the Holy Spirit upon them, empowering them for their mission. The resurrection isn’t just about triumph over death—it’s a powerful reminder that peace, faith, and purpose are gifts meant to be shared.

Seven Signs #6 - This sermon reflects on Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead, showing that His miracles are signs pointing to His true identity as the Son of God. The message emphasizes that Jesus’ love sometimes means waiting, because His timing reveals greater glory and deeper hope. We see how He meets Martha with truth and Mary with compassion, showing He is both powerful and tender. Jesus is the resurrection and the life so we can live with courage, generosity, and unshakable hope—even in the face of suffering and death.

Seven Signs #5 - The story of the blind man found in John 9 shows us that suffering isn’t always tied to personal sin, but can be an opportunity for God’s power to be displayed. While the Pharisees remain spiritually blind, the healed man not only gains physical sight but also recognizes Jesus as the Son of Man and worships Him. Only Jesus can open our spiritual eyes, and true sight begins when we admit our blindness and trust Him.

Seven Signs #4 - Jesus’ miracles aren’t just about meeting physical needs—they point us to Him as the true source of life. The crowd in today’s passage misunderstood this, chasing bread and titles, but Jesus makes clear that only by trusting Him fully can we find lasting joy and peace. The key takeaway is to stop relying on “bread that perishes” and instead build our lives on Jesus Himself, letting His life become ours.

Seven Signs #3 - Jesus’ miracles are not just acts of compassion but signs pointing us to His identity as God’s Son. The healing at the pool shows that human solutions fall short, but Jesus offers true hope and calls us to respond with faith and obedience. We must fix our eyes on Jesus, trust His authority, and choose to follow Him fully, rather than settling for temporary or shallow substitutes.

Seven Signs #1 - Jesus’ first miracle at the wedding in Cana shows that the old ways of relying on law or human effort are inadequate, but His provision is abundant and life-giving. By turning water into wine, Jesus points to the sufficiency of His sacrifice—He alone can meet our deepest needs and remove shame, offering joy and true life. When we ask, obey, and trust Him, Jesus provides more than enough, and His blessings lead us into deeper faith and relationship with Him.

Joseph #5 - In this passage of scripture, Joseph’s powerful example of forgiveness shows us that true reconciliation begins by naming wrongs honestly, bearing the cost ourselves, and remaining open to restored relationships. Forgiveness isn’t about forgetting or demanding repayment—it’s about trusting God’s hand at work. When we forgive, like Joseph, we not only find freedom from bitterness but we are free to become blessings to others.

Joseph #4 - In this passage, Joseph tests his brothers to see if they have truly changed. We see an incredible transformation in his brother Judah, from selfishness to self-sacrificing love. Judah’s transformation teaches us that we are never too broken for God’s love to reach and transform us. When we experience God’s love through Jesus, we are set free from fighting for ourselves and empowered to lay down our rights for the good of others.

Joseph #3 - This sermon highlights how Joseph’s awareness of God’s presence sustained him through years of suffering in prison and slavery, freeing him to serve others and preparing him for the moment God raised him to lead Egypt. None of Joseph’s hardships were wasted—God used every circumstance to shape him for His purposes. He does the same with us. When we face trials, we can trust that God is with us, using even our hardest seasons to prepare us for future glory and to bless others.

Joseph #2 - Joseph’s story in Genesis 39 shows that even when life seems unfair—sold into slavery, falsely accused, and thrown into prison—God was still with him, giving him favor and success. Instead of giving in to temptation or despair, Joseph chose integrity and trusted that God’s presence mattered more than his circumstances. The takeaway for us is this: don’t measure God’s love by how easy or hard life feels—trust that He is with you and working for your good, even when you can’t see it.

Jacob #3 - Jacob meets his match in Laban, who tricks him repeatedly. Yet God remains faithful to His promises. Through Jacob’s suffering and setbacks, God exposes Jacob’s old patterns of sin and begins reshaping him into someone who can truly receive and share blessing. Even when Jacob relies on superstition or his own schemes, God graciously provides and protects, turning deception into the path for His greater plan—including the lineage of Jesus through Leah. The sermon reminds us that when we face mistreatment or hardship, we can trust God’s provision and live faithfully, knowing He uses even suffering to transform us and bring blessing.

Jacob #2 - In this passage, Jacob must leave his home in the promised land after tricking his brother, Esau, into selling him his birthright and stealing Esau’s blessing from Isaac for himself. Now, Jacob is facing poverty and danger instead of the power and prosperity that he was promised. In this moment where everything is going wrong for him, Jacob meets with God. He sees that there is a connection between Heaven and earth and that through His angels, God provides for and protects his people. This is still true today. God sees you and cares about you, even when you are at your lowest point. And God still invites us to meet with Him today - through Jesus.

Beyond the Manger #1 - Hope. In the midst of tragedy, it can seem wrong to talk about hope. But the hope that is rooted in the truth of the gospel is so much more than just a nice feeling. Jacob #1 - This sermon walks through the messy story of Isaac’s family in Genesis 25 and 27, where favoritism, scheming, and deception tear relationships apart. Yet even in the middle of all that brokenness, God’s purposes still prevail—He brings blessing through Jacob just as He promised. Abraham #6 - As cruel as God’s test for Abraham seems on the surface, this sermon shows how it is actually a gift of grace from God. God spares Isaac’s life, but he does not spare his own Son. Jesus dies on the cross to save us. God didn’t spare His Son, His only Son, from you.

Abraham #5 - In today’s passage, Abraham and Sarah see that Almighty God is capable of doing the impossible and keeping his promises when they have their son, Isaac. Abraham #3 - Sometimes following Jesus can feel like it is costing us greatly. We can start to doubt if God’s promises to those who love Him will be true for us. In today’s Bible passage, Abraham doubts the promises God has made him. God is gentle and kind and reassures Abraham by establishing a covenant with him. And God extends a new covenant promise to us through Jesus Christ. Jesus dies in our place so that we can have a new covenant relationship with God, like Abraham did. All we have to do is believe.

Abraham #2 - In this passage, Abraham and Lot represent two ways we can live. Abraham’s faith in God and His promises allows him to give up his right to choose the land he settles in. He gifts the choice to Lot. Lot makes the best decision he can for himself based on what he thinks looks good. Will we live according to God’s wisdom, even when it seems like we are losing out? We can live for the good of others and in peace because God promises to work things out for the good of those who love Him. And God always keeps His promises.

In the Beginning #5 - In this passage, God tells Abraham to leave his home and follow. Through his obedience, Abraham is blessed to be a blessing to the whole world. In the Beginning #4 - Technology is advancing and humanity is excited about it’s potential. But this isn’t the first time in history we have been here. Today’s passage tells of another time in history when people were excited about a new technology and what they would be able to accomplish with it. The story of the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11:1-9 shows us that we cannot build our own value on our own accomplishments. Instead, we need to rely on God and rest in the name He gives us.

In the Beginning #3 - In the story of Noah and the flood, God sends judgement on humanity. The idea of a God who judges is difficult for us to reconcile with his love. In the Beginning #2 - The stories of Adam and Eve and Cain and Abel reveal a deeper pattern of human rebellion—our desire to take God's place and control our own lives. It shows that all sin, whether seemingly small or catastrophic, stems from the same root: mistrust in God's goodness and a belief that He’s withholding something we deserve. Yet, even in the midst of this brokenness, the message highlights God's grace—His persistent love, His pursuit of relationship, and His promise to set things right through Jesus. We are reminded that while sin leads to death, God's mercy leads to life.

Kings and Kingdoms #5 - This sermon explores the story of Belshazzar in Daniel 5, showing how God holds all lives in His hands—whether for judgment or salvation. Belshazzar's arrogance leads to his downfall, highlighting that earthly kingdoms rise and fall, but God's kingdom endures forever. The message points to Jesus, whose hands bore the judgment we deserve so that we can find life in Him. The key takeaway: Since God holds our lives in His hands, we should humbly trust Him and respond to His grace while there’s still time.

Kings and Kingdoms #4 - King Nebuchadnezzar’s story in Daniel 4 teaches us that God humbles the proud to draw them closer to Him, showing that even the most powerful are completely dependent on His grace. Nebuchadnezzar’s downfall was not a punishment but a gift—through his suffering, he learned to recognize God’s sovereignty and was restored with a new heart of humility and worship. This week, ask God to show you areas in your life where your pride is keeping you from being able to rely on God and love others well.

Kings and Kingdoms #3 - The story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Daniel 3 reminds us that obedience to God is non-negotiable, even when faced with opposition or danger. Their faith led them into the fiery furnace, but God was with them, showing that while He can save, our obedience should never depend on whether He will. In daily life, standing firm in faith may come at a cost, but knowing that Christ has already sacrificed everything for us gives us the courage to trust Him in every challenge.

Kings and Kingdoms #2 - Daniel 2 shows us that no one, not even rulers of great nations can control the future. Fear is a common response to this reality. When we realize that God is sovereign and his kingdom will last forever we can live lives free from fear and full of hope.
This week, practice claiming this truth by writing down fears as they come up in your daily life. Then write this underneath: "God is sovereign over this and His kingdom will prevail."

Kings and Kingdoms #1 - Living faithfully as a Christian in a world that often opposes God can feel isolating, but Daniel 1 reminds us that God is sovereign, even in exile. Rather than assimilating into the culture or separating from it entirely, Daniel and his friends model a third way—remaining a faithful presence by walking in wisdom and obedience. This passage challenges us to trust God’s plan, seek His guidance in daily decisions, and engage the world with kindness while staying firm in our faith.

All Authority #5 - Jesus’ resurrection changes everything—He has authority even over death, offering hope beyond this life. Mark 16:1-8 presents a surprising ending where fear initially silences witnesses, but ultimately, the truth of the empty tomb is undeniable. Because Jesus conquered death, we are invited to live under His authority, trusting Him in every aspect of our lives, from our daily choices to our eternal future.

All Authority #4 - Jesus’ power is available today, but we must access it the right way—through faith expressed in prayer. Mark 9:14-29 reminds us that when we rely on our own strength, we fail, but when we bring our weakness to Jesus in faith, He works powerfully in our lives. This passage challenges us to grow in prayer, trusting God to move in ways we cannot, and learning to depend on Him in every situation. This week, let’s be intentional about deepening our prayer life, turning to God in moments of stress, doubt, and weakness, so that His power can work through us.

First John #20 - This is the last sermon in the First John series. John concludes his letter with the instruction to keep from idols. In this sermon, Pastor Eric looks at what idols are, why they are dangerous, and what we should do with them. We must ask ourselves: What are the good things in my life that are more important to me than God?

First John #18 - What do we do when our real life experience of being part of the church doesn’t match the picture that John has painted for us in this letter? John tells us the answer is to pray. We can pray with confidence because we know that God hears us.

First John #17 - is faith in Jesus reasonable? According to John, it is because God has given us three witnesses that testify to who Jesus is. It is essential that we listen to them because eternity is on the line.

First John #15 - With so much to fear in the world, is it possible to live lives free from fear? In today's passage of scripture, God invites us into a relationship with Him that can set us free from fear so that we can be free to love one another.

First John #13 - In this passage of scripture, John teaches us that where we go spiritually depends on who we are following.
First John #13 - We are back in our First John series this week. In today's sermon, Pastor Eric teaches about the confidence that comes from knowing God's love for us.
During the summer, we will have several guest speakers and preachers share from God's Word.
Is being Christian worth it? It's an uncomfortable question that we have probably all wondered at one point or another. This is the question that Pastor Niels Van De Kasteele works to answer by looking at one of Jesus' parables in his sermon.
In the parable of the hidden treasure, Jesus teaches that accepting Him as our savior and following Him into God's everlasting Kingdom is worth everything we have in this life. Not only is it worth it for us, but it is so valuable and precious that it is worth sharing with others.

Fear. We are all familiar with this feeling. There is always something for us to be scared of or to worry about. Our lives can feel like they are full of storms.
In this sharing, our church brother Derby looks at the well-known passage in Matthew of Jesus calling Peter to walk on water. This passage encourages us to choose faith over fear. We can follow Jesus when he calls us to come and trust Him to keep us from sinking.
First John #12 - In this passage of scripture John commands us to love one another. This may seem straight-forward until we realize that our understanding of what love is shapes how we interpret this teaching. In today's sermon we explore what John really means when he commands us to love one another.
First John #10 - In today's sermon, we look at what it means to be a child of God in our world today.
This week one of our church members, Mani, shares about the Holy Spirit and how we need the Holy Spirit to help us follow Christ.
We are taking a break from the First John series to hear from a guest speaker about what to expect as we live the Christian life.
We will continue in the First John series next week.

First John #9 - Some writers have referred to the Holy Spirit as "the Cinderella of Christian doctrine" or "the forgotten God." But John teaches that for Christians to stand firm in the face of false teaching, this forgotten God is an essential resource. Who is the Holy Spirit and how does he help Christians fight false teaching? This sermon aims to help answer these questions.

First John #8 - Antichrists and End Times. You might have heard of them already. There are a lot of ideas around these topics. We will dig into it and look at what the book of 1 John has to say about each one and how we should respond.

First John #7 - John warns us to be careful of what we love, because what we love shapes what we do and who we become.
First John #6 - John writes to remind his readers of what is true of them in Jesus. As Christians, remembering our identity is one of the most important things we can do in order to live the lives God calls us to live. In this sermon, we look at what is true of God's people, why it is important to remember and steps we can take to help us remember.

First John #5 - We pick up where we left off last week in the book of 1 John to hear about how God wants us to live in His light, not blinded to it.
Today we look at the command to love one another. It is an old command that can be found at the very beginning of the Bible. Yet, Jesus reshapes our understanding of this command and, in a way, makes it new.

First John #4 - What is the proper Christian attitude in the fight against sin? Sin is bad. We can try our best to obey God but no one is perfect. How do we balance trying not to sin with trusting God to forgive us when we do?

First John #2 - John begins his letter with the gospel message. God made it possible for us to truly know Him through Jesus Christ. John’s goal in writing this letter is for fellowship and joy through the gospel.
Following Jesus allows us to have fellowship with God, which is the ultimate blessing. But it also means having relationships with other Christians. A renewed relationship with God leads to a renewed relationship with God’s people. Having good relationships with one another increases our joy.

Jesus the Messiah #7 - Jesus is alive. The tomb is empty. Whether you believe that’s true or not, it requires a response. We see three responses in Matthew 28.
If you believe Jesus is alive, don’t be afraid.
If you don’t believe Jesus is alive, explain why the tomb is empty.
If you do believe that Jesus is alive, share the good news.

Jesus the Messiah #6 - In this sermon, we will think about why Jesus chooses to endure suffering and death.
In this last week of Lent, as we prepare to celebrate Easter, we see that Jesus was willing to endure humiliation and a painful death because of His great love. Jesus loves you. He was willing to die on the cross so that He can have a relationship with you.

Jesus the Messiah #5 - We have strong ideas about power, what it looks like and how to get it. People living in the time of Jesus also had ideas of what power looked like. Jesus does not match up to either of these ideas of power. In this passage, we see an example of Jesus’ power and how it subverts our idea of power.
During the season of Lent, as we prepare to celebrate Easter, we will see how Jesus fulfills God's promises to send a rescuer. This week, we see Jesus' overcoming, true power that leads to freedom.

Jesus the Messiah #4 - In this teaching, Jesus warns us that everyone will face the reality of final judgement and will either be with Jesus or against Jesus. But Jesus doesn’t want us to wait until the last moment to decide. He tells those listening that He cares about what we do with what we have today.
During the season of Lent, as we prepare to celebrate Easter, we will see how Jesus fulfills God’s promises to send a rescuer. This week, we see that Jesus prepares us to live our lives ready for the day we face final judgement.
Thank you to Pastor Niels van de Kasteele for being our guest Preacher this week.

Jesus the Messiah #3 - This week we look at the well-known parable Jesus tells of two builders at the end of his Sermon on the Mount. Jesus uses this story to teach those listening that they now have a choice: to walk away unchanged or to follow Jesus and his teaching.
During the season of Lent, as we prepare to celebrate Easter, we will see how Jesus fulfills God’s promises to send a rescuer. This week, we see that Jesus is the rock we would be wise to build our lives upon.
We all build our lives around something. But only one foundation will carry us through the storms and last forever. What might it look like to build our lives around Jesus?

Jesus the Messiah #2 - This week we see Jesus begin his public ministry by calling his first disciples. What was so special about Jesus that people were willing to leave everything they knew behind to follow him?
During the season of Lent, as we prepare to celebrate Easter, we will see how Jesus fulfills God’s promises to send a rescuer. This week, we see that Jesus’ teaching and his healing set him apart.
