Whether you grew up reading and loving the Narnia books, or you have just begun to discover the joy of this other world, this podcast is a chance to dive deeply into The Chronicles of Narnia through sacred reading practice, scripture interaction, and chapter by chapter discussion. Spending time in Narnia is not just for the Pevensie children. Join Katie and Bethy as we go further up and further in.
With chapter 14 Bethy and Katie decide Reep is probably the main character. Also, we meet some heavenly birds, Isaiah 6:1-7 is deeply discussed, and we practice fourfold reading.
With chapter 13 we ask havruta questions, notice a shift in tone as well as Reep being especially honored, and discuss the big questions with Revelation 19:6-9.
With chapter 12 we discover some surprising differences between our versions of the book, discuss Reep's pride, read Psalm 3, and practice PaRDaS.

Chapter 11 brings up some abstract conversation as we try to visualize time, talk about two ways we tend to view God, and just enjoy a sweet chapter. We also practice Ignatian spirituality and read Revelation 22:12-13.

Welcome to season 4 of For Narnia and For Aslan! With this first chapter of Prince Caspian, we decided to take a trip down memory lane by playing our very first recording attempt ever! Katie and Bethy try out podcasting for the first time with a discussion about discomfort, adventure, growth, and new experiences. As this is our first ever recording, Bethy's sound is not quite right, we cut out a couple times, and there are editing mistakes... to say the least. There's not even music! Katie and Bethy finally reach the line “the hour has struck” thanks to Rabadash and his terrible decisions. Together we discuss Katie’s youth group, how Jesus interacted with demons, and how awesome it is that Lucy’s counsel is followed. We also practice reading for fourfold meaning and read Luke 8:27-33.
Bethy and Katie talk through Bree needing 5 minutes, how great it is to finally refer to Corin as Shasta's brother - I mean, Cor's brother, and break down Bethy's fear that maybe nothing will come of her hard work. They also do a readers theater and bring 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 into the conversation.
Katie and Bethy discuss how the portrayal of war is different in this book compared to the others, how nice it is that Lewis has the freedom to write whatever he wants, and wonder how old Edmund is in this story. They also practice florilegia and read Matthew 23:5-12.

With chapter 11 we hit the emotional climax of the book with Aslan's incredible conversation with Shasta, read through a bunch of "I am" passages (Exodus 3:14, John 14:6, John 15:5, John 11:25, John 8:12, John 6:35, John 8:58, and Revelation 1:8), and practice Lectio Divina.
We forgot to read out the chapter number and title with this episode. Oops! This, as we are sure you know, is chapter 10, The Hermit of the Southern March. With this chapter Bethy and Katie discuss Shasta's heroism, and how Bethy both would like to grow up to be the Hermit and struggles to decide between a big, selfless life and a small, selfish life.
