Education today has a totally different paradigm: It is no longer confined to a classroom or a desk. It is no longer kept in the domain of the youth. Education can, and should be, utilized by everyone regardless of age. As education pushes past the boundaries where it has previously been constrained, it is changing what’s possible. In this podcast, I interview Josh Joseph, Senior Vice President of Yeshiva University, one of the best private colleges in the United States.

Josh shares his insights on the future of education and its implication for each of us. We speak about the importance of pursuing your passions, honing your skills, and making your talents marketable. As an educator, Josh explains why each of us should “find our element,” and how a commitment to core values will enable us to achieve personal greatness.

There is a unifying thread between the Roger Ailes scandal, Volkswagen scandal and recent events in Germany that we could all relate to.

Many times we are in position to act without apparent consequence, to get away with it, to do something that nobody will find out about. We think we won't have to pay for what we do. Rather than doing the right thing, or stepping up and admitting fault, we cover up our actions. We think we can get away with it.

But if there is one thing that I have learned as a student and is all over this week's news is, "everything catches up"

So who are you when nobody else is watching? Do you want your choices and actions to catch up to you?

This week Charlie was on The Buck Sexton show discussing how the war on terror is not one of guns and armies, but a war of ideology.

Recognizing who we are and being proud of our nation is the only way we could win the war on terror. We have to know and understand what it is that we are fighting for, and push for it to the end. This is a key to greatness in our own lives too. We have to have a clear picture of who we are and where we want to go and fight for it.

So what's holding us back from being the best we could be? We talk about that and much more this week on The Charlie Harary Show.

On this week's show, we talk about the greatest impediment to our happiness and success, our minds. When looking at the reaction of the press to the presidential elections, we see the overwhelming presence of the confirmation bias. People like to think they are right and so they create theories and then look to the world to support those theories. That's what certain news outlets always report the same way. Our two party system only encourages this narrow thinking and is hurting our country.

Where does this bias come from? How do we get rid of it in our lives? We will discuss all of this on the show.

The recent shooting in Orlando, FL was the deadliest attach on American soil since 9/11. Rather than using the opportunity to galvanize our nation, President Obama and the republican nominee Donald Trump neglected to step up and identify the source of the issue: radical Islam.

What's missing here? Clarity.

Clarity enables us to know and understand what we are dealing with. Only then can we move forward and fight evil to overcome terrorism.

The importance of clarity goes even further and seeps into all areas of our lives. Knowing where we want to end up is the first step to getting there. If we want to be successful in life, our greatest challenge is identifying what it really is that we want, even more than the effort needed to achieve it. We discuss this and more on this week's podcast.

How can you be better at anything you do?

This week we covered a key element of success. More important than having natural talents and abilities is having grit, or "stick-to-it-ness"

Malcom Gladwell touched on this with his 10,000 hour rule in his well known book, Outliers. The people who do the best are those who stick to their projects and goals for the long term. Those who push forward even when things get tough is one of the indicators of success in the long run. Many times, talent is overrated, the most talented are those who give up the soonest.

But it goes further. Just sticking to something isn't enough, there is another aspect that is the key to success. We will discuss it on the show.

When one out of every six millennials in our country are either unemployed or in jail, it's no wonder we have so much political unrest.

This week we take a step back to look at how the economy works and how we could use it in our favor.

Transactions, the process of purchasing goods and services for cash or credit, are the building blocks of our economy. The more we spend money, the more the economy grows. The more productive and valuable we are, the more money we make and the more we can spend. The issue is that today's economy is being generated on how much money we could borrow and no longer on how much we earn.

Over the past decade, the economy has been running off of debt and it's finally catching up to us. We're feeling the side effects of overindulgence and lack of discipline. America is known far and wide as the land of opportunity, the land of promise. This is the land of the American Dream.

What fuels the American Dream? It's the drive each and every one of us has within to improve and change our condition, to work harder today for a better tomorrow. This hope for a brighter tomorrow comes down to one thing: belief in one's self.

Do we have that as a people? Do we believe in ourselves and take responsibility for our lives?

The campaigns of Trump and Sanders may indicate otherwise. Both candidates tend to blame others for the country's failures, and as a result we have learned to victimize ourselves and have slipped into a state of helplessness and hopelessness. As Americans, we must know that our dreams do not fade when the world says no, they fail to become a reality when we give up. When we feel broken and no longer feel we are capable of change -- that's when we let go of the dream.

We, not others, need to believe in ourselves and be the driving force for a better tomorrow. We must take responsibility for our lives and push forward and persevere. Only then can we be who we are meant to be and make our dreams a reality.

There is something to be learned from everyone, even from the campaigns of Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump. They can teach us means to have a vision, push past fears of vulnerability, and step up to challenges.

When we put ourselves out there and try to reach greatness we become vulnerable to failure and criticism. This is where most of us crumble, we're scared to expose ourselves. Incredibly, Sanders has pushed past the discomfort of vulnerability and has dug in his heels. He is dealing head on with the challenges associated with running for President -- regardless of his age. The same holds true for anyone who has reached greatness -- including Walt Disney and Steve Jobs who each had an idea, made themselves vulnerable and dealt with the challenges that stood in their way.

We discuss the story of Exodus and what lessons can be learned from it. Each of us has something to give to the world, but it's up to us to choose greatness and endure the challenges and pain that come our way. Only then could we free ourselves from whatever it is that's holding us back.

Ethan Couch, the affluenza teen, who was recently found hiding in Mexico, just got sentenced to 2 year in jail. The media’s obsession with Ethan started when at his trial (for killing 4 people while driving drunk) his claimed the affluenza defense. Whats affluenza, you may ask? On today’s show, we delve into the utter ridiculousness of affluenza, and how it relates to a more fundamental character flaw, our inability to take responsibility.

Shirking responsibility is one of our greatest impediments to personal greatness. Its been issue for us since the beginning of time, ever since Adam and Eve. Adam doesn't get kicked out of the Garden of Eden because he ate the forbidden fruit, he gets kicked out because he doesn't take responsibility, he shifted the blame.

Great people dont shift blame, they take responsibility. Kobe Bryant who played his last game this week shows us the exact opposite -- he and Ted Cruz both show the fact that being relentless and working hard pays off.

We also share advice from one of the most successful financial advisors in New York on how to habituate effort.
