Trigger warning for human suffering. Beware if you are of a sensitive nature.
Continuing from our last episode, we further explore the history of the "Father of cosmeceuticals" Albert Kligman. His experiments at Holmesburg were sometimes dangerous, sometimes bizarre and always cruel. We learn about the involvement of the army and experiments with Agent Orange, one of the worst carcinogens known to man. We think it's important we all understand that in order to have safe cosmetics, there was not inconsiderable human suffering.
Lots of information for the podcast was obtained from a book called "Acres of Skin" by Allen Hornblum in 1998.

Trigger warning for human suffering.
The Murky history of one of our favourite anti aging drugs- Tretinoin. Dr Albert Kligman was a very famous dermatologist and researcher. He made a lot of the most significant discoveries in modern skincare and is often called the father of cosmeceuticals. He was also apparently devoid of human kindness and experimented on humans and animals with a total disregard for the safety and comfort of his subjects. This is the first part of our podcast about him and the experiments he performed at Holmesburg prisoners. Beware if you are of a sensitive nature.
