James Perloff is journalist who wrote for The New American magazine for nearly three decades. He’s the author of “The Shadows of Power,” an exposé of the Council on Foreign Relations, two books about the evidence against Darwin's theory of evolution, “The Case Against Darwin” and “Tornado in a Junkyard,” and a comprehensive primer on the New World Order called “Truth Is a Lonely Warrior” and the supplementary “Thirteen Pieces of the Jigsaw.” More recently Perloff published “COVID-19 and the Agendas to Come, Red-Pilled” and the brand-new “Missing Saints, Missing Miracles.” You can read the essays referenced in our conversation and a wealth of other truth-seeking material at JamesPerloff.net and follow him on Twitter and Gab.

Perloff and I discuss consolidation of power, some of the Founders’ foundational errors, the South and the Yankee Empire, ecumenism, godless infiltration within all forms of Christianity, as well as the beauty of Orthodoxy, Church history, post-biblical miracles, Saints, and silver linings. Sure, “Satan’s a long-term planner,” but there’s nothing that screws up his evil schemes better than people choosing the Narrow Path.

SECRET HISTORY NOTE: I was remiss in mentioning to Perloff that there was a Founding-era Virginian who was not high-church Anglican but was Orthodox Christian: Philip Ludwell III. Nearly 30 years before Russians began bringing the Faith to Alaska and a century prior to Orthodox people groups started immigrating to these United States, Colonel Ludwell was received into the Orthodox Church in 1738, making him the first known Orthodox convert in North America. He is the namesake of the Ludwell Orthodox Fellowship, of which I’m a co-founding member, and one of the many cultural connections we see as making the South fertile ground for planting and growing Orthodoxy.

This hymn was recorded October 22, 2022, during the 3-day symposium at St. Tikhon's Orthodox Church in Blountville, Tennessee. The choir was comprised of Orthodox singers from Tennessee, Virginia, North and South Carolina, Missouri, Alabama, and a few even beyond those Southern climes. Choir director: Peter Fekula.

"It is truly meet to bless thee, O Theotokos, ever-blessed and most pure, and the Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and more glorious beyond compare than the Seraphim, who without corruption gavest birth to God the Word. True Theotokos we magnify thee!"

Valerie Protopapas of New York is a prolific and unreconstructed defender of Southern history, the world authority on the great Confederate partisan John Singleton Mosby, and is former editor of The Southern Cavalry Review, the journal of The Stuart-Mosby Historical Society. In her compelling story-telling style, Protopapas offers up myth-busting facts on “The Gray Ghost,” the naiveté of conservatives, the “lost cause," the disunited states and its associated madness, transatlanticism, the Titanic, Orthodoxy, and other topics spun into fiction by the cultural genociders and the useful idiots.

Some links relevant to our conversation:

  • Protopapas’s bold essays at The Abbeville Institute and Reckonin’
  • “Col. John Singleton Mosby: In the News 1862-1916,” her book formerly entitled “A Thousand Points of Truth”
  • “Searching for Lincoln,” the documentary to which Protopapas contributed
  • “The Gray Ghost,” the short-lived 1950s TV series that sparked her interest in Mosby
  • Orthodox Christians for Life, which she co-founded with her husband Deacon John
  • “Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future,” by Fr. Seraphim Rose

The Cherubic Hymn is the primary cherubikon (Gr: χερουβικόν), or song of the angels, sung during every Divine Liturgy of the year with the exception of the liturgies of the Presanctified Gifts and those of Holy Thursday and Holy Saturday. It occurs after the Gospel reading and is interrupted by the Great Entrance. The Cherubic Hymn was added to the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom by order of the Emperor Justinian near the end of the sixth century.

The words of the Cherubic Hymn are as follows:
"We, who mystically represent the Cherubim,And chant the thrice-holy hymn to the Life-giving Trinity,Let us set aside the cares of lifeThat we may receive the King of all,Who comes invisibly escorted by the Divine Hosts."

Though the actual text is short, the hymn lasts for quite a while due to its drawn-out, ethereal style. It is our best imitation of and supplement to the singing of the Heavenly Hosts.

In either 573 or 574, Justinian I had the Cherubic Hymn added to the standard liturgy. The previous cherubikon used was that of the Liturgy of St. James, which had then been borrowed into the Liturgy of St. Basil. This hymn, beginning with the phrase "Let all mortal flesh keep silent" is currently only used on Holy Saturday. (The cherubikon used on Holy Thursday begins, "Of thy mystical supper...").

During the period of the fourth to sixth centuries, the shape of the Eastern Divine Liturgy reached its final form under the guidance of liturgists such as St. John Chrysostom. In this same period the major formative changes occurred, most of which resulted in liturgical components that corresponded to the Church's developing theological understanding. Among them were the hymn "Only-Begotten Son" and the addition of the Nicean-Constantinopolitan Creed (countering heresies), and "The Trisagion Hymn" reflecting the Trinitarian theology being currently defined. In this period and on through the ninth century, hymns were composed and added to the Divine Liturgy, such as the Cherubic Hymn, sung while the priest recites the prayer that is now called "The Prayer of the Cherubic Hymn.”

Keith Alexander is co-host of The Political Cesspool, a Tennessee-based syndicated talk-radio show that has been on air now for nearly two decades. An official co-host since 2009, Alexander has an “encyclopedic knowledge and masterful intellect,” making him “both a fan favorite and indispensable member” of TPC’s on-air talent.

Alexander, a semi-retired lawyer who has twice run for local public office in his hometown of Memphis, is not one to shy away from provocative topics. So we talk about the triumph of liberalism and how its destructive intent came to be through coercive “civil rights,” cultural pessimism, and lawfarism, as well as the need for those on the right to not shy away from the institutions. Alexander also discusses the Eliza Fletcher murder by Cleoth Abston and Ezekiel Kelly’s killing spree, both of which took place in Memphis and are summarily ignored by the subversive corporate media since the perps are black and the victims overwhelmingly white.

You might wanna check out my essay on the therapeutic state and dig a little deeper on the Highlander Folk School – both of which Alexander references in our chat. Turns out, many “justice” movements that we’re told are organic, grassroots uprisings to oppression are themselves just commie plots. Go figure.

Michael Sisco, host of the 2nd Annual Trad Forum, talks with me about the event, which takes place next month in the Mountain State. Speakers include an array of voices who share traditional Christian values. Each will discuss how he (or she, in my case) thinks ancient wisdom can help guide people of goodwill to best navigate the craziness of clown-world culture and the malevolence of modernity.

Sisco and I also talk about making pragmatic alliances with people who share agreement on core issues, the difference between freedom from evil, not for evil, and how defeatism is anti-Christian, as well as his past run for the US House of Reps, his highly trafficked article on Russia-Ukraine, and his rekindled passion for pro wrestling and involvement with the upcoming RalphaMania.

Mark Beck is the founder CEO and now chairman of Bridgetree, a data management and analysis private company. Beck, who describes himself as “anti-corporate,” has used his management and operating skills, and his financial resources to found American Classic Commercial Landmarks: a National Historic Registry property acquisition, restoration, and management venture. In other words, Beck buys old buildings and renovates them with historical preservation as a central focus. He has already completed two such projects – one in Mooresville, NC, and the other in Charleston, SC – and is now working on his third: restoring the West Jefferson Hotel in Ashe County, NC.

Beck and I discuss why he considers restoration of historic landmark commercial properties as his “social mission,” his past projects like the beautiful 1 Broad Street in the Holy City, forensic architecture, why this self-proclaimed “wiley peasant” with Michigan roots has such a rebel spirit and resolve in restoring the South’s valuable culture through its grand buildings, and, of course, his latest undertaking in re-establishing the past glory of the Historic Old Hotel.

“The fight the local power put into my lap … resulted in the entire town going into a renaissance once I kicked their ass in the venue they chose: local NC Superior Court,” Beck said of the intrigue surrounding the West Jefferson restoration.

“Landmarks count and they represent the unique culture of a community. Once they are gone, they are gone for good,” he continued. “All the losing town ends up with is a gas station convenience store selling beer and boxed pizza, a blood plasma donation center in a dumpy place with a big parking lot, and a drive-through drug store fulfilling mostly prescribed poisons. I call this setup ‘medical plantations.’”

“Landmarks go derelict because, like America, the current-era grifts off the past by milking and destroying the substance, elegance, and productivity of a hard-working and inventive people who built things to last for their family and community.”

Regarding Beck’s last point, I strongly suggest y’all read my friend Nicole Williams’ article “The tragedy of land use in the South.” And for additional information on the independent entrepreneur’s current project, see “Restoration work continues at the old West Jefferson Hotel” and “Historic West Jefferson hotel is being brought back to life,” and be sure to follow the West Jefferson Hotel Facebook page.

John Bush is the founder of Live Free Academy which is hosting a one-day homeschool summit and a weekend workshop aimed at demystifying home-based and alternative education for beginners as well as inspiring those who’ve been at it for a while. His and the academy’s overall mission is to support people on their “journey towards greater freedom in the areas of financial independence, decentralization and cryptocurrency, and exit and build strategies” by offering courses, membership, consulting, podcasts, and events like the ones we’ll be talking about.

The free Homeschool Virtual Summit is happening tomorrow, July 14, at 11 a.m. Central. Speakers include Dr. Ron Paul, Jack Spirko, Kerry McDonald, and Richard Grove, so if you’re interested, sign up ASAP! Led by Bluebird Solorzano, a veteran teacher of government schools and alternative education, the paid in-person and virtual Homeschool Ready Workshop is taking place July 29 to 31 at the Bastrop Convention Center in Bastrop, Texas. Both “Exit and Build” events are not only a great step in the right direction toward “freeing the children,” but they serve to free parents who may think homeschooling is just too scary or to encourage longtime homeschoolers who simply need to be recharged.

Bush also does yeoman’s work explaining the practical side of bitcoin and its benefits as an investment, or to achieve greater financial stability or even independence. For a deeper dive on crypto, watch his Build Wealth, Opt Out webinar. And be sure to check out Bush’s Freedom Cells meet-up network, too.

While Gonzalez dives into to some biographical background and a teases out a few hot topics in part 1, in this episode, he tackles a slew of current events, including SCOTUS’s overturning of Roe, the assassination of former prime minister of Japan Shinzo Abo, the Dutch farmer resistance, and the continued insanity that is US involvement in Ukraine. As always, Gonzalez does an expert job as connecting the dots to the big picture. He also discusses some research he’s been doing on the rotten roots and duplicitous language of “transgenderism,” and the de facto immigration amnesty happening right here and now in Murica. Could clown world really have gone so far off the rails that it means the end of the liberal world order? Gonzalez has his thoughtful opinions, so listen to find out.

Even though this interview released on July 11, it was conducted on May 27 yet never released. As you will hear, my audio’s quite crunchy in spots, so much so, that I had originally decided not to publish my chat with Gonzalez for fear that it would keep listeners from enjoying the show.

However, because Gonzalez sounds clear as a bell and the talk is really about him and not me, I’ve decided (with his approval) to finally release the episode. Moreover, Gonzalez, who is seemingly the most gracious guy in all of alternative journalism, even granted me a second interview. Thus, what you find here is part 1 of a 2-part series.

In this episode, Gonzalez and I discuss everything from growing up as a first-generation American in rural California, the US as a “civilization in crisis,” the “white shame industry,” and nationalism, to leftism as “inherently imperialistic, the “over-saturation of tragedy,” the importance of capturing local and state governments, and Ukraine.

Articles of interest include: “My Father’s Eyes,” “Servant of the Corrupt,” and “Democrats Are Massive Hypocrites on So-Called 'Great Replacement Theory'” by Gonzalez; Big League Politics’ and Chronicles’ takes on neocon Douglas Murray’s attempt to cancel Gonzalez, and Gonzalez’s breakdown of the events.

Be sure not to miss the followup episode, folks. Not only is our continued conversation an interesting and provocative one, but part 2’s audio is quite seamless all around – easy listening on some pretty hard topics.

Kaleb of Atlanta, a.k.a. Patriarch Prime, is an Orthodox Christian, a writer, and a popular Twitter provocateur who has recently landed in the woke cross hairs. Kaleb says his “intent is to spread the Orthodox Faith to African Americans,” but the straightforward, bold evangelism of this “maker of many radicals” crosses all racial lines and is simply way too effective for left-wing subversives who thrive upon dissension and destruction.

Kaleb and I talk about the tweet that got him in such hot heterodox water, evangelism in the Orthosphere, the danger of doxxing, what it means to be “radicalized by Patriarch Prime,” bias against Orthodox converts, his conversion to the Faith, the gaslighting "religion experts" known as Fordhamites, and more.

You can follow and direct message Kaleb on Twitter and read his articles at Medium. Other links pertaining our conversation include:

  • A prominent SPLC propagandist taking notice of Prime’s “triggering” tweet;
  • A Fordhamite grrrrrl claiming that this “young man from the American South” is a “threat to democracy” and a “threat to Orthodoxy and the authority of the Church”;
  • And my essay “Stirring the pot” which features a few shout-outs to Prime as a brave defender of the Ludwell Orthodox Fellowship, agape love, and good ol' fashioned common sense.

Foundring is the moniker of pianist and singer/songwriter Kylan deGhetaldi. With a speciality in ragtime and early jazz, Kylan started one of the first YouTube channels featuring ragtime and "stride" piano. But Foundring is also known for his satirical songs about conspiracies and other social commentary, some of which have been suppressed, with a few being outright banned by the technocrats. Kylan has been a touring member of the international sensation Postmodern Jukebox, with whom he has performed in over 50 cities on four continents. When he’s not triggering the feelz of YouTube and Band Camp censors or performing live, the Santa Cruz-native is also proud dad to a 10-year-old daughter, as well as a top-ranked Scrabble player and one of the world's fastest anagrammers.

Kylan and I discuss the role of the modern court jester, the power of flying under the censorious radar, memetic warfare for narrative control, trolling the gatekeepers in order to break through the algorithms, artistic supply and demand, covid-era struggles, present-day pivots, how Cali rebels need a cool name, and more. Here are all the ways to follow and support Foundring’s valuable work cuz the “spicy songs must flow”: SubscribeStar, GumRoad, YouTube, Odysee, Twitch, BitChute, Rumble, Gab, Telegram, and PayPal.

A few choice ditties mentioned in our conversation include:

  • “Oy Vey, Shut It Down”
  • “The Pandemic Dance (do the ‘rona)”
  • “You Will Never Be a Woman”
  • “Alex Jones Was Right”
  • “Foil”
  • And my essay Russia-Ukraine: Through a Dixian essay, part 2 which features two Foundring videos and was the impetus for me finding his clever content and consequently reaching out for an interview: his first!

Ryan Dawson is the creator of The Anti-Neocon Report. The blogger, podcaster, filmmaker, and author of two books, “Welcome to the USSA” and “The Separation of Business and State,” has been involved in political activism for more than two decades. Dawson’s content has been featured by the likes of George Galloway and Pat Buchanan, and has garnered him appearances on TV, from Russia Today and CNN to The Daily Show and Al Jazeera.

Dawson’s hard-hitting material has roused much elitist ire over the years, so much so that he’s had numerous YouTube channel’s deleted, most notably one that had accrued 81,000 subscribers and 4,000-plus videos with a total of 30 million views. The North Carolina native and unapologetic advocate for the South now lives with his wife and children in Japan where he’s also a Goodwill Ambassador for the state of Nara. The two of us talk about censorship and alternative media, “holocaust denial” and 9/11, the scrouge of Californians, Stinkin’ Lincoln, the Yankee Empire’s “moral” wars, being pro-Russia, the ingredients of a John Wilkes Booth Cocktail, and more.

It was difficult in trying to track down links that encapsulate Dawson’s prolific career, not only because he’s been at this a long time and on many diverse platforms, but also because much of his work has either been erased or buried. Some of Dawson’s older videos can be found at Alt Censored; and some interviews during his stint as the host of Geopolitics with Ryan Dawson, a show on FBI-whistle-blower Sibel Edmonds’ Boiling Frogs Post, are available; as are a couple episodes when he was fill-in host for Mike Rivero’s What Really Happened Radio.

These days, you can find all of Dawson’s new content, films, and ways to follow him at the ANC Report homepage. Also of note are Dawson Time, a website that offers more history-based content, including videos by Dawson and and his twin brother Scott, who’s an amateur archaeologist and historian; and Dawson on Reed Coverdale’s monthly show The Four Horseman. Be sure to check out my current series “Russia-Ukraine: Through a Dixian lens,” which just so happens to feature the rendition of “Dixie” sung in Russian that Dawson mentions in our conversation.

With more than 15 years in the entertainment and radio business, Buford T. “Big Hoss” hosts the live radio podcast “Buford T. America Bluegrass and Country Show” Saturdays at 7 p.m. Eastern at the website The Bluegrass Jamboree. Buford T. also believes in preserving heritage and advocating for the real history of the “War for Southern Independence.”

Ellen McWhorter is a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and serves on the North Carolina Sons of Confederate Veterans Memorials Fund committee. She’s a member of the Madison County Election Board in Kentucky and has served on various political and civic boards and committees.

Together, Buford and Ellen are the hosts of the new podcast “The Road to Dixie” where they team up to bring listeners an informative and entertaining take on the South’s history, culture, politics, and people. In my first-ever interview with two guests, the three of us Southern partisans have a grand ol’ time. One thing’s for sure: Buford and Ellen ain’t skeered!

Be sure to check out The Road to Dixie and Buford’s Bluegrass and Country Show, also available on SoundCloud, especially Buford’s episode from January 29, in which he gives a sweet shoutout to the Dissident Mama podcast!

Note: Buford accepted my off-air invitation to return to my podcast some time in 2022. We plan on discussing his passion for classic country and bluegrass, which is something he happens to share with your humble host. We’ll talk all things roots music and see if we can’t find out a bit more about what makes Buford tick.

Ellen also agreed to write a guest post for my blog. The topic? Her pivotal trip to Scotland where she experienced peak anti-Southern hostility. Being that so many Dixians are descended from Scottish ancestors and that Scotland has many times throughout history sought independence from the United Kingdom (and came darn close to seceding just 10 years ago), you’d think they’d have a clue. But apparently not.

So keep an eye out for that sure-to-be thought-provoking essay by Ellen, a true Southern lady, as well as my forthcoming fun-loving conversation with the fine gentleman known as Big Hoss.

Jatras is also an Orthodox Christian and an outspoken political and cultural critic.

A self-proclaimed “unReconstructed Byzantine,” Jatras and I discuss the covid “winds of delusion,” jab exemptions, referring to “the American Republic in the past tense,” the media-industrial complex, the American “ethnos,” the South as globohomo’s whipping boy, Transatlanticism, Kievan Rus history, the Orthodox Church and geopolitics, and more. The Tulsa, Oklahoma, native is a layman in the Orthodox Church in America, a pharmacist, father of two sons, Constantine and Michael, and author of “American Orthodox Church: A History of Its Beginnings” which he co-wrote with Deacon Ezra Ham. But Michalopulos is probably best known in the “Orthosphere” for his website Monomakhos: One Who Fights Alone, where he and wife Gail have been sharing their hot takes on religion, culture, and politics for the past 11 years. Michalopulos and I discuss how his influential website came to be, Oklahoma as the South, multiple jurisdictions in Orthodox America, a little system-backed hit piece that happened to call the two of “white supremacists,” pushing back against wokeism within the Church, the problem with “quietists,” and more. Ashley Rae Goldenberg is an independent journalist, researcher, and content creator known on social media as Communism Kills. An outspoken America Firster, she’s not only loathed by the anarcho-tyrants (evident by her permanent banishment from Twitter), but Goldenberg has also found herself in the crosshairs of the Libertarian Party and Con Inc. whose Beltway borgs have verbally attacked and even canceled her for daring to challenge allowable opinion.

Anyone this triggering to cultural Marxists, libertines, and neocons must be doing something right, so Goldenberg and I discuss her back story and worldview, the “Jewish romance with communism,” the perils of challenging the globohomo/anti-white narrative, and the Rittenhouse, Charlottesville, and Ahmaud Arbery court cases, which are ALL the same thing: whiteness on trial.

Here’s the “Right Wing Watch” hit piece on Goldenberg that got her deplatformed from “polite” political society. (I typically don’t share links and subsequently drive web traffic to leftwing sites, but I thought in this case y’all might wanna behold the word-salad agitprop as to compare it to what Goldenberg told me in her own words.)

Also of note is her brilliant “Here Are The Companies That Support Antifa, Black Lives Matter, and Want You Dead” list, which caused normie gnashing of teeth, and the video of Goldenberg’s assault at the hands of the Antifa/BLM cabal. Truth-telling is a lonely business, folks, so be sure to follow Communism Kills on Telegram and Gab.

Jared is the founder and proprietor of Hoppean.org, a website “dedicated to the furtherance of the ideas of Professor Hans-Hermann Hoppe and his ideological forebearers.” But Jared isn’t your typical adherent of libertarianism, which he says has become “a haven for grifters, egalitarians, socialists, degenerates, and the mentally incapacitated.” Rather, he’s a self-described paleolibertarian, who also happens to be a stalwart defender of Southern heritage. Yep, Jared sounds like my kinda people, so we discuss his personal philosophy, Confederate ancestry, terminology, postmodern reconstruction, and Hoppe, of course, while also connecting the dots of a few hot topics with the big-picture assault on liberty, tradition, and culture.

Anne Wilson Smith is the author of the brand-new “Charlottesville Untold: Inside Unite the Right” as well as “Robert E. Lee: A History Book for Kids,” both produced by the good folks at Shotwell Publishing. Having called the Republic of South Carolina home for most of her life, Smith was reared in a family that believes Southern history is something to be cherished. The daughter of preeminent Southern historian and scholar Clyde N. Wilson, Smith is a formidable researcher and writer in her own right and has taken up the difficult task of authoring two books in less than a year - even though she’s a wife and a mom of two boys – because some things just gotta be said.

Unlike me, Wilson actually attended Charlottesville: the watershed event that forever changed our political, cultural, social, and legal landscape. So much of what ails America is built upon the government-induced, elite-supported, and media-contrived false narrative resulting from that fateful day of August 12, 2017, so Smith and I talk about some of the big-takeaways from her hot-off-the-press release.

So if you want to grasp just how cancel culture, anarcho-tyranny, anti-whiteness, civil rights for thee but not for me, inescapable gaslighting, monument destruction, and other assorted leftist schemes have taken root and been able to grow so strong, this book is a must-read. After all, if you resist to even a modicum of the madness, dear non-woke citizen, you’ll simply get Charlottesvilled.

Through first-hand experience, countless interviews of people who were there, in-depth media and legal research, and raw drone footage from the rally (which can be seen by linking to the book’s many QR codes), Wilson’s exposé explains what really happened and connects the dots for those who have for so long been intentionally kept in the dark about the “deadly white-supremacist rally.” After all, sunlight is the best antiseptic, and I do believe that good people are finally primed and ready for the truth. Deo vindice.

The son of an Anglican priest who converted to the Church with most of his parish in 1991, Fr. Peter came to Orthodoxy in 1992.

Fr. Peter has a doctorate in Dogmatic Theology and is a professor at Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary in New York and was a rector of two parishes in Greece. He is also a translator of several books including two tomes on St. Paisios, a two-time author of works on modern ecumenism, the editor of an Orthodox journal, and was the first headmaster of Three Hierarchs Academy, an Orthodox school in Arizona.

Peter is also the creator of the website The Orthodox Ethos, which features podcasts, essays, and online courses, and has online communities at both its Patreon and Crowdcast pages, where additional online lectures and live-stream Q&A sessions are also available.

The good father and I discuss the mass deception of “covid-ism,” courage vs. cowardice, trust vs. rationalism, blind obedience, anonymity, clergy’s condescension of laity, the destruction of history as a symptom of nihilism, and much more. Like Fr. Seraphim Rose explained, “While there is daylight, we must speak out.” Amen.

A native of East Tennessee, Earl Starbuck is an independent historian and a descendant of soldiers on both sides of The Late Unpleasantness and of Governor John Sevier. His father, who was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, taught him to love history and the South. Starbuck holds a BA in History and Political Science from Carson-Newman University and an MA in History from Liberty University. He has no connection to the coffee company.

I talk with Starbuck about his petition “Tennessee Must Oppose Vaccine Tyranny” and how state’s rights and nullification can resist federal overreach, but it requires action of the people and their representatives in those states. We also discuss big-government/Lincolnian indoctrination and Southern cultural genocide, compare bondage within today’s godless empire to forms of involuntary slavery, and take many a deep dive down some thought-provoking historical rabbit holes, including a spoiler about one of the most commonly attributed quotes to Robert E. Lee.

In addition to reading, signing, and helping spread the word about Starbuck’s bold petition, be sure to check out his 4-part series on General Lee: The Believer, The Father, The Soldier, and The Educator, as well as his essays “Was Secession Treason?” and “Roe v. Gene Andrews is a retired high school history teacher who served as a combat officer with the 3rd Marine Division in Vietnam. He’s a former Commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) Tennessee Division and current caretaker of the Nathan Bedford Forrest boyhood home in Chapel Hill, Tennessee.

The rebel-proud gentleman talks about the September 18 reinterment of Nathan Bedford Forrest and his wife Mary Ann Montgomery Forrest, an event being held at Elm Springs, SCV General Headquarters in Columbia, Tennessee. Andrews also myth-busts some Forrest history, both antebellum and postbellum, and tells us a little bit about himself as a former educator and military man, as well as his longtime defense of the Southern cause, which is still the same cause of all right-thinking people today ... whether they know it or not.

“I loved the old government in 1861. I loved the old Constitution yet. I think it is the best government in the world, if administered as it was before the war. I do not hate it; I am opposing now only the radical revolutionists who are trying to destroy it. I believe that party to be composed, as I know it is in Tennessee, of the worst men on Gods earth – men who would not hesitate at no crime, and who have only one object in view: to enrich themselves.” — Nathan Bedford Forrest

  • My critique of the US military and its mistreatment of Southerners, “You don’t want us? We don’t want you!” and my interview with The Political Cesspool radio host and native Tennessean James Edwards in which he too discusses the brilliance of Forrest. In fact, it was Edwards who suggested Andrews as a possible guest for the DM podcast. So, thanks, James!

Scott Howard is the author of “The Transgender-Industrial Complex.” The native Nebraskan, whose first-ever book has been predictably banned by Amazon, uncovers the trans phenomenon by fleshing out its revolutionary foundations and wretched aims. Connecting the dots of the players and pawns, Howard demonstrates through impeccable research, and prose that is both advanced and accessible, that this is no warm-and-fuzzy grassroots movement, as its proponents would have you believe.

Part historical analysis and part journalism, “The Transgender-Industrial Complex” is a wake-up call for those who have been sleeping their way toward servitude and annihiliation, and, Lord willing, a call to action for resisting this evil psyop dead set on smashing childhood, family, and God.

Howard and I talk about how the personal is political, Big Gay and its societal sodomizing, weaponized “science,” the systemic revolution that preys upon the vulnerable, the scapegoating of the archetype, the totalitarian tool of identity-less-ness, the depathologizing of pedophilia, the Great Reset, and “the motherload of wrongthink”: noticing and frankly discussing patterns within the complex’s web of institutional advocates. This assault on truth, beauty, and goodness must be discussed honestly, so I say, hurt feelings and triggered sensibilities be damned. Too much is at stake in this existential war.

Also mentioned in our interview are “The Culture of Critique” by Kevin McDonald, Dennis Prager, and Jamiroquai, who called this madness back in the ‘90s. So, here’s to saying “No!” to censorship and “Yes!” to intellectual inquiry!

Rick Dirtwater, an alumnus of Virginia Military Institute and an occasional opinion writer for Identity Dixie, gives us a deep dive into the cultural genocide happening at the historic school, which used to be the proving ground for making modern cavaliers and gentlemen warriors. So, Dirtwater shares his personal experience with the former VMI ethos and its Spartan lifestyle of regimented training used to build men of strong character. Unfortunately (and predictably), the institution has finally fallen victim to the cancer of wokeness.

We discuss how the devolution has occurred, including the abolition of the “old corps” via SCOTUS’s United States v. Virginia some 25 years ago, “turncoat” Ralph Northam’s totalitarian reconstruction of the Old Dominion and its premiere military school, and the fourth-estate hit pieces insisting that the college has a “racist and sexist culture.” Whereas “Save the males” used to be the rallying cry around VMI, the progressive precept is now death by 1,000 cuts and you’d better damn like it. Such barbaric times leave little room for honor, which is precisely by design.

Neil Kumar is a Republican candidate for U.S. Congress, representing Arkansas's Third District. He is a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and Sons of the American Revolution, with blood that has been Southern since the 17th century. Kumar, who is a graduate of the University of Chicago and a native Arkansan, has written for numerous publications, including the Abbeville Institute, American Renaissance, Identity Dixie, The Political Cesspool, Clyde Wilson's Reckonin', and VDare.

Kumar and I talk about his ancestry, his “rightist” political awakening, and his Christian conversion, how whites have racially disarmed themselves, how the power-hungry left has pathologized whiteness, how too many Southerners are on the defensive (instead of on the offensive and rightfully taking command of the moral high ground), and how his bold congressional platform aims to remedy those very deep and dangerous problems.

With a degree in anthropology and now knee-deep in law school, one wouldn’t think that such a young man could be so common-sense and so wise. But Kumar is and his writing proves it.

Here are some of my favorites:
“Reconstruction in Arkansas”
“All that is ugly, broken, and foul”
“An open letter to Walmart”
“White open spaces”
“John Brown’s body: A review of ‘The Secret Six’ by Otto Scott”
“You reap what you sow”

Also mentioned in our conversation are my interview with Lauren Witzke and the progressive and predictable hack job inventing an SCV “leak” along with its gaslit “aggressive neo-Confederates” narrative. I say, damn straight we’re aggressive!

So, on this 158th anniversary of Pickett’s Charge (the final day of the Battle of Gettysburg, which waged from July 1-3, 1863), let’s consider Kumar’s message and his candidacy as a much-needed frontal assault against the undeniable Southern genocide, the pathologization of whiteness, the destruction of the family, and the mass proliferation of godlessness and globohomo. “Come on, boys! Give them the cold steel!”

Scott Horton is the author of “Enough Already: Time to End the War on Terrorism,” “Fool’s Errand: Time to the End the War in Afghanistan,” and “The Great Ron Paul: The Scott Horton Show Interviews 2004-2019.” He’s director of The Libertarian Institute, editorial director of Antiwar.com, and host of Antiwar Radio on Pacifica 90.7 FM KPFK in Los Angeles and The Scott Horton Show. The podcaster/broadcaster extraordinaire has conducted more than 5,500 interviews since 2003.

I tap into Horton’s vast knowledge in order to try to make sense of the Israel-Palestine crisis, its history and modern implications, especially the frustrating gaslit loyalty and heretical beliefs of Christian Zionists, the power of the pro-Israel lobby, the ignored plight of Palestinian Christians, Israel’s obstruction to peace, the Deep State’s fostering discord, and the US’s backing of the secular regime with money, arms, and unparalleled political support. And what does the Murica get in return for being Israel’s client state? Horton will fill us in.

I also tell Horton about my hypothesis that the conflict in Israel is akin to the War of Northern Aggression. Since we in Dixie have been under imperial occupation since 1865, her lands destroyed and given over to settler colonialism, her collective memory maligned, her culture reconstructed and razed, and her people scapegoated and force-fed a revisionist history that not only obscures US government crimes, but now actively promotes them, I think it’s a pretty good comparison, which I may expound upon in a future essay. Find out what he thinks.

Lauren Witzke is a former U.S. Senate candidate in Delaware and now spokeswoman for Hold The Line PAC. A survivor of the opioid epidemic, Witzke’s an outspoken America First advocate and also a catechumen in the Orthodox Church.

I talk with the busy and driven Witzke about her bold ideas, like Restore the Family, and current projects, like Reclaim the Rainbow. We also discuss some hot topics, from Republican charlatanism in the “hallowed halls” of state capitols and DC and the snake-oil salesmen at Turning Point USA, to moving beyond Trumpism, the very real and increasing political persecution of traditionalists and conservatives, and Witzke’s intriguing and inspirational bio. And what could a better time to interview the repentant Christian than June? Not because it’s “pride” month, but precisely because it’s #ChristianityMonth, today and everyday!

Be sure to check out Witzke’s co-hosting of TruNews with Milo Yiannopoulos, which is already underway and will run for the next week and a half, as well as a few of my own "kindred spirit" essays that are pertinent to our chat: “Pedophilia is progress,” “Life with a Rainbow Mafioso,” “No just peace,” “Societal sodomizing,” and “Magnify the Theotokos, not Satan.”

Randall is the writer and artist behind the Southern-without-apology comic book “Rebel Yell,” as well as “Gun on the Chickahominy,” a casual pixel-target game set during the War Between the States, which is due out May 21. This young and creative Southern son has already felt the burn of internet censorship, so let's find out why some crowd-funding platforms and YouTube have their panties in such a progressive wad over his content and see what keeps Randall keepin' on in these sometimes seemingly fruitless and never-ending battles. My guest is Dr. Clark Carlton: author, speaker, and philosophy professor. He’s the co-founder of The Philip Ludwell III Orthodox Fellowship, which is currently in its fundraising stages but has big hopes of “Nurturing the roots of Orthodoxy within the Southern tradition.”

We discuss the impetus for the fellowship, its goals to both nurture indigenous roots and facilitate evangelism, Ludwell's bio, the South's classical and biblical self-consciousness, stealth Baptist churches, everyone from Tris Englehardt and Basil Gildersleeve to Fr. John Meyendorff, enculturation, English translations of the Divine Liturgy, permanence, going native, and much more.

Carlton's articles have been published in various publications, such as the Journal of Christian Bioethics, St. Vladimir’s Theological Quarterly, and the Journal of Early Christian Studies, and his “The Faith” book series has been greatly influential within Orthodoxy. His long-running but now retired Ancient Faith Radio podcast, “Faith and Philosophy,” provided important commentary on the intersection of Orthodoxy and and faith, philosophy, and culture.

Dr. Carlton has a B.A. in philosophy from Carson-Newman College, a Master of Divinity degree from St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary, and an M.A. in Early Christian Studies from the Catholic University of America. He’s currently assistant professor of philosophy at Tennessee Tech University, where he teaches the history of philosophy as well as the philosophy of religion and logic.

Today my guest is Betsy Ball Clark, who is a natural, holistic health entrepreneur and advocate. She owns Betsy’s Botanicals, which sells handcrafted elderberry syrup and other products for good health and flourishing. She is also secretary of Heal NC, the Health Empowerment Action League of North Carolina. This organization aims to strengthen regional communities by connecting grassroots groups and taking targeted action in order to preserve and promote true health in North Carolina.

Clark is not a doctor, an epidemiologist, or what the scientism masses refer to as a “vaccine expert.” Rather, she’s a wife, mother, and Christian who does her own research and grows her knowledge base as to get at the truth about vaccines and to counter the misinformation and tyranny pushed by the pharmaceutical-industrial complex and their fellow plutocrats in media, government, and corporate America.

In this informative interview on the covid “vaccines,” we talk about “fear porn,” spike proteins, gene technology, consensus science, informed consent, pathogenic priming, experimental emergency use authorization, vaccine injury, aborted fetal tissue, Clark’s “hippie arsenal” of alternatives, and much more.

John Devanny holds a Ph.D. in American History from the University of South Carolina. He resides in Front Royal, Virginia, where he teaches at Christendom College, writes, tends garden, and occasionally escapes to bird hunt or fly fish. Dr. Devanny is also a stockjobber, so his essays and lectures often deal with political economy and its intersections with history and current events. His work can be found at the Imaginative Conservative, Reckonin’, and the Abbeville Institute.

I have been a fan of Devanny’s writings for years, but was blown away by his lecture “Who Owns America Today?” which was given at the Abbeville conference this past October in Charleston. We touch on some of the issues raised in that riveting presentation, but we also delve into other topics, including what makes Marylanders Southern, what it was like to be a student under Dr. Clyde Wilson, and the sad state of academia and education. Devanny defines a few terms, breaks down the Game Stop hubbub, explains the “tides of consolidation,” and offers some advice on how best to handle these negative and overwhelming trends, both personally and politically.

Other content mentioned in or related to our conversation are “Who Owns America: A New Declaration of Independence,” “The Blundering Generations,” “Southern Identity and the Southern Tradition,” a condensed print version of Devanny’s Charleston speech, and “What Can Be Done Now?” as well as his Abbeville lectures on John Taylor of Caroline, John Randolph of Roanoke, and more.

Episode 28 features Rachel Kennerly, who is a wife, homeschool mom, Illini by birth, but Texan by the grace of God, and host of the podcasts Cannabis Heals Me and Just Add Liberty. A Certified Public Accountant by day, Rachel’s a fighter for liberty and a friend. In discussing “Everyday freedom and how to find it in an unfree world,” we chat about everything from home-education, adoption, storytelling, and secession, to gardening, whittling, maskholes, and, of course, cannabis.

Some mentions in the interview: “Whatever Happened to Justice?” by Richard J. Maybury; Andrew Pudewa’s Institute for Excellence in Writing, Classical Conversations, which I’ve written about before; and cultural-Marxist creep into homeschooling. Speaking of which, I’m the admin of a little private social-media group called Keep the PC Out of Home Education. It’s one of the only remaining glimmers of hope left on Fedbook, at least in my world, so please do consider joining the cool collective.

Lastly, Rachel and I talk about the bad American history that sometimes pervades even quality homeschool curriculum, so I have included a short “Civil War” essay that my oldest son penned a few of years ago. It was composed contrary to the provided “source text,” but it can give you an idea of just what you and your children can do, even within the confines of sometimes status-quo material. Like we homeschoolers say, everything is a learning opportunity!

“The Uncivil War”
By Houston
Essentials – Lesson 16
January 18, 2018

Honestly, the Civil War, which took place from 1861 to 1865, was not a civil war at all. A “civil war” is a conflict between fellow countrymen for domination and control of the general government. A better name for it is the War of Northern Aggression since the Union illegally invaded the Southern states. Or it could be called the Second War for American Independence because the Confederate States of America was fighting for self-determination and against tyrannical central authority, just as the Founding Fathers had done. Regretfully, many people's thinking is askew on this issue. They presume the war was solely about slavery. However, it was much more complicated than this popularly mimicked moral misjudgment. Indeed, the South was agricultural and used some slave labor, whereas the North was more industrial. According to the best research, only 5 to 25 percent of Southern farmers owned slaves at the beginning of the war. Shocking to some people was that slavery existed in border states and also in the Federal capital, Washington, D.C. In fact, it was “King Cotton” that helped build the North's prosperous cities. A common myth espoused is that the evil South wanted to count slaves as three-fifths of a human, but it was really the North that pushed that “compromise.” Why? To make the Southern states impotent in Congress. Slavery was just a symptom of the protracted disease, which was a power struggle amid the North and South's differing cultures. A few other unshakable animosities included: taxing power, tariffs, and trade; the Constitution as a “voluntary compact” and the right to peacefully leave the Union; sectionalism, states' rights, and self-preservation; and Congressional representation and Western expansion
Therefore, 11 indignant states parted from the Union, but each for its own reasons. For example, North Carolina and Virginia didn't secede until Lincoln sent 75,000 Federal troops marching through those states. Their citizens were simply resolved to defend their homes. This was absolutely the bloodiest war in American history. The four-year struggle between the Confederacy and its Indian allies (the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole Nations) and the Union killed nearly 700,000 men, women, and children – white, black, and Native alike. This was truly an unnecessary and “uncivil” war, and we're still living with the political consequences of it today.

Jason Kessler is a freelance journalist and activist who has written for VDare and The Daily Caller. He got his break in journalism exposing the racial double-standards surrounding the Twitter posts of Charlottesville Vice-Mayor Wes Bellamy, who was pushing to remove a historic Confederate monument after going on anti-white rants for a period of close to 10 years.

But Kessler, a graduate of the University of Virginia, is best known as the organizer for the Unite the Right rally, which took place in August 2017. Perpetually pegged for the postmodern age as the “deadly white supremacist rally,” we’ll find out why Kessler organized the now-infamous event, what life and lawsuits have been like since then, and get his thoughts on the Charlottesville/DC comparison.

We’ll also see if Kessler feels a little vindicated these dystopian days; I know I do. I wasn't even there, but I’ve defended the rally and called out the mob and its statist backers since day 1. In fact, the first time I was ever called a Nazi was by a fellow Orthodox Christian to whom I was simply explaining that describing the event as “Nazis vs. peaceful protesters” was a gross oversimplification at best, or ammunition for true injustice and punitive anti-whiteness at worst. It’d be silly if it weren’t so sinister.

I’ve been warning that the encroaching anarcho-tyranny, with all its fear tactics and censorship and hypocrisy, will eventually chew us all up and spit us out, if we're not unapologetic in resisting the scheme. I’ve tried to convince people that virtue-signaling isn’t virtuous and that parroting the propaganda will only embolden the cultural Marxists to step up their violence and subterfuge.

I’ve argued that not standing up for the freedom of conscience of others, especially those that society defines as scoundrels, is a dangerous precedent to set, and that the progressive pogrom all hinges upon the Charlottesville narrative.

My friend Carolina Contrarian, who attended Unite the Right, has done yeoman’s work in trying to get the truth out about the rally and in trying to give Kessler a fair shake. Yet, our efforts always seemed to fall on deaf ears, or maybe it was just weak spines.

But now, more and more people understand that the seething and powerful leftists aren’t just coming after those irredeemable "white supremacists" who everyone was so ready to castigate and forget about after Charlottesville. Now, the totalitarians are coming after you and your children, and if you dissent, you too are a Nazi. Maybe, just maybe conservatives, libertarians, and normies now see that their complicity is what helped to undergird and perpetuate the very same lies that are now aiming to ruin their lives.

I think it’s well past time to stop throwing each other under the bus, y'all. It’s time to grow a backbone and fervently combat the fiction that any time majority-white crowds gather it’s akin to a Klan rally or a coup, while the BLM-Antifa syndicate is always just out there innocently channeling the spirit of Martin Luther King, Jr., for the greater good. Well, as Saint MLK once said, "The time is always right to do what is right.” Amen to that.

Jennifer Grinwis is owner of Nan’s School of Dance, which was started by Grinwis’ mother Nan in 1975. Jen became director in 2002, and she and her husband Jon have owned the company since 2008. The dance studio has two North Carolina locations: Greensboro and Yadkinville. It’s a family business with deep roots, so Jen, who is also a homeschool mom of 4, talks with us about the NC lockdowns and how the continued covid craziness have affected (and still continue to affect) she and Jon’s livelihood.

The fearless and feisty Jen and I discuss what it means to run a small business, the needless suffering of children under the progressive paradigm, Nan’s expert handling of the “juggling act” that is Gov. Roy Cooper’s endless executive orders, the difference between mandates and laws, Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan’s anonymous snitch list, the culling of the Karen, and more. Take heed, oligarchs: small biz is essential, and no amount of “public health” propaganda will change that. And if the maskholes would just “stay safe, stay home,” we joyful folks could get back to truly living, not just navigating the dystopian hellscape they are aiding and abetting. But the malevolent meddlers thrive on being busybodies, so I say it's well past time to take a rebel stand, just like Jen and Jon.

Buck Johnson is the creator of the Death to Tyrants podcast. Johnson describes the show as “anti-warfare, anti-welfare, pro-liberty” and himself as a “hardcore paleo-libertarian/anarcho-capitalist” and a “huge proponent of secession and decentralization.”

The Texas native is longtime musician and has played drums for many of the roots, rockabilly, punk, and country acts in Austin, including with the great Jimmie Vaughan at many of the Ron Paul rallies back in 2008 and 2012. In normal life, Johnson is fire department lieutenant, but in dissenter land, he's a rabble-rousing rebel and an effective interviewer who has built quite a following by talking with an array red-pilled folks from diverse liberty perspectives.

Johnson and I chat his “awakening moment” a la Harry Browne’s classic book, “The Great Libertarian Offer,” his time in the League of the South, and the vital role that Southern tradition plays in resisting tyranny and fighting for decentralization. He discusses words and action, defines some important terms, tells us the origin of his first name, and even shares some breaking news regarding his popular podcast!

We also discuss the Austin music scene, how wu-flu mania is affecting live performers and venues, and his friend and one my family’s favorite classic-country troubadours Dale Watson. It was a wild and informative ride, so I hope y’all enjoy getting to know Buck, a true ally to the cause of sanity.

James Ronald Kennedy was born and raised in Mississippi. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisiana, Monroe, and a Master’s degree in Health Administration from Tulane University, New Orleans, and a Master’s of Jurisprudence in Health Law from Loyola University, Chicago.

Ron, along with his brother Walter Donald Kennedy, are the Kennedy Twins and are best known for their bestselling book “The South Was Right!,” which has sold more 180,000 copies and its “new edition for the 21st century” was just released by Shotwell Publishing. The Kennedy Twins have written 16 other books, including “Punished With Poverty: The Suffering South,” “Dixie Rising: Rules for Rebels,” “Yankee Empire: Aggressive Abroad and Despotic at Home,” and “When Rebel Was Cool.”

Ron and his brother Donnie have been interviewed by numerous local and national talk radio shows such as Col. Oliver North’s radio show, Alan Colmes’ radio show, Bill Maher’s Politically Incorrect, the BBC, French National TV, Louisiana Public Broadcasting TV and Mississippi Public Broadcasting radio and TV.

Both have served as Commander of the Louisiana Division Sons of Confederate Veterans and have received special recognition awards from the National Commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, as well as other Southern heritage organizations.

Ron and I discuss how he got involved in the Southern-without-apology movement, as well as how the Southern states went from self-determination, prosperity, and health, to an underling region of “bayonet governments,” to now a land of “stateless people.” It’s not all doom and gloom, though, folks, for this son of Dixie has big ideas about how to organize effectively and resist nonviolently big government at the local, state, and federal levels. Let’s just say that his strategies, if implemented, could “hang [the oligarchs] on the horns of a dilemma.” Sounds good to me.

But this American doesn’t just give viewers an inside glimpse into his wild travel and living-abroad adventures, his vlog sometimes takes a deep dive on a more personal note, such as “The most Russian American - Why Tim Kirby left the United States” video. This was my first introduction to Kirby, and I was blown away by his candor. Moreover, it was as if this guy has been a fly on the wall in my home. So much of what he expressed is exactly how I feel and think about the sad state of America and how, in my humble opinion, Russia may be the only country left on the entire planet that is willing to resist globohomo (which is why my family and I are praying to pull off a move to Russia - that is, if the country ever opens itso borders to US citizens). Is Russia really the “last best hope” of mankind, or at least, the last refuge for traditionalists and conservatives Christians?

Episode 16 features W.C. Newsom, who is the creator of The Christendom Curriculum. If you recall, Newsom was my very first guest on the show. He and his family tirelessly work to advocate for truly conservative and traditional homeschooling - a field of battle that leftists are taking a bit more of everyday. But Newsom always shows up for the fight. He returns to give us some updates about the growth of his curriculum, as well as the predictable woke pushback to his educational materials, which he describes as “pro-West, anti-social justice, anti-multicultural, and anti-globalist.”

I also get Newsom’s expert take on a few issues that may seem minor but are what I see as increasing and powerful white-guilt chinks in the armor of non-PC home education. Am I overreacting? Possibly. Or am I just seeing the puritanical-progressive writing on the wall. We’ll try to sort some of that out.

Newsom is a homeschool dad to seven children, husband of 27 years, proud Southerner, and Reformed Christian. He’s a leftism resistor, a brilliant and bold warrior for faith, family, and tradition, and an unReconstructed compatriot with whom I’m proud to be in the trenches.

Mentioned in our discussion are the HSLDA’s essay “Homeschooling: Bridging the academic achievement gap” and Newsom’s recent Battle Paper “Monument desecration and the 5th Commandment” published at Identity Dixie. Some of my related essays are “The antidote for the therapeutic state,” “Puritans, part 5: Redeeming the time,” and “Homeschooling is counter to progressive values,” and “Totalitarians, t-shirts, and tirades, oh my!”

Newsom has a professional background in writing, editing, and creating training materials. He’s written or contributed to 10 books, including “The Nicholas Book: A Legend of Santa Claus,” “Polycarp: The Crown of Fire,” and "Talking of Dragons: The Children's Books of J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis,” and created class sessions on Shakespeare, Tennyson, Hemingway, and others for another popular Western Civilization homeschool curriculum.

In lucky episode #13, I talk with Father John Whiteford, who’s a priest in the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR) and head priest at St. Jonah Orthodox Church in Spring, Texas. He’s a former Nazarene Associate Pastor who converted to the Orthodox Faith soon after completing his B.A. in Religion at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma. Father John’s the author of “Sola Scriptura: An Orthodox Analysis of the Cornerstone of Reformation Theology” and the general editor of the St. Innocent Liturgical Calendar. You can also read his writings at his blog aptly named Father John Whiteford and hear his homilies on Ancient Faith Radio’s From the Amvon podcast.

The good father and I chat about secession, the War Between the States, the importance of history and being rooted, cultural Marxism, virtue signaling, covid-related church closures, challenging authority, and the necessity of being prepared mind, body, and soul for the worldly battles we face in this present spiritual war. Also mentioned in the podcast are Philip Ludwell III and Father Seraphim Rose’s influential and enduring book “Nihilism: The Root of the Revolution of the Modern Age.”

On a personal note, Father John has been a strong shepherd for me and my family during these tenuous times. And there is the silver lining to much of the madness: that God opens doors for us in our struggles. Even when we feel abandoned by some Christians and slighted by the Church, He places people in our lives to help us learn and grow in faith and in humility while also planting the seeds of good relationships. He lights our path with eternal truths, and bold brethren and compassionate compatriots who speak up and reach out in love, letting us know that we are indeed not alone. I thank God that Father John is one of those sparks - a courageous and caring voice in the dark, dangerous, and demonic wilderness.

Dr. Paul Gottfried is the editor-in-chief of Chronicles Magazine and president of the H.L. Mencken Club. He is a Raffensperger Professor of Humanities Emeritus at Elizabethtown College, where he taught for 25 years, a Guggenheim recipient, and a Yale Ph.D. He is the author of 15 books, including “Fascism: The Career of a Concept,” “After Liberalism: Mass Democracy in the Managerial State,” “Revisions and Dissents: Essays,” and one of the most influential books on me personally “Multiculturalism and the Politics of Guilt: Toward a Secular Theocracy.” He’s also editor of the brand-new anthology “The Vanishing Tradition: Perspectives on American Conservatism” featuring chapters by some of today’s boldest and most provocative writers.

Gottfried and I discuss Conservative Inc. and some of his ideas of how to push back against the cultural-Marxist madness. The Gott-father, as a lot of we paleocons call him, has quite the interesting bio, such as the fact that his doctoral advisor was none other than Herbert Marcuse of Frankfurt School infamy. Gottfried has been battling the neocons for decades in what sometimes got a little personal. It’s a “loyal opposition” movement that has left us true conservatives without leaders, without a voice, and without any small-government Republicans, at least at the federal and most state levels.

In episode 11, I interview Nora Kowalchek, who is known in online Orthodox circles as “Mother of Five.” She’s just a normal person doing normal things like working, being a wife, owning a home, and raising kids, but she also is ardently committed to rearing her children in the practices and faith of Orthodox Christianity. This is a very abnormal thing to do in our intensely worldly society, where nearly everything is pitted against children to mature into godly men and women. It takes much dedication, time, prayer, and selflessness to remain committed to the raising of the Church’s next generation of laity and leaders, hence, Kowalchek’s motivation to resist the covid rules of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA).

She sees these jurisdiction directives as both detrimental to the salvation of her son and daughters and to the future of the Church as a whole. So Kowalcheck decided to voice her heartfelt opposition to the guidelines implemented by the OCA bishops, not because she wants to be a rebel to authority, but because she knows she must take a stand for what is right - to defend the even higher authority of truth.

If you’re not Orthodox, don’t be scared. Kowalchek and I do a brief “Orthodoxy 101,” which may be of interest to you as far as intellectual inquiry goes. Plus, the greater themes of our discussion speak to the battle that’s happening in American Christianity as a whole and the greater society: faith vs. man, self-determination vs. collectivism, corporate gathering vs. radical individualism, freedom vs. tyranny, the “Great Unreason,” as Jack Kerwick called it, vs. true reason.

Speaking of that, here’s Kowalchek’s popular essay, “The Loss of a Generation,” which struck a chord with many other Orthodox parents who share her concerns about the OCA directives, especially the wording of Archbishop Alexander from his March 10 statement: “This is not a season of trial in which to test one’s piety through unreasonable faith.” Since when was faith in God unreasonable? Interestingly, I cannot find the Archbishop’s original statement on the OCA website or pretty much anywhere on the Internet, other than the full text posted on the St. Athanasius Orthodox Church’s Facebook page.

Also of interest is Father Peter Heers’ interview with Archimandrite Savas Agioreitis. The two discuss “the holiness of the Temple and Holy Things,” and why Christians should stand up for the Holy Canons and what they say about kissing icons, communal worship, and receiving the Eucharist.

Kowalchek mentioned St. Mark of Ephesus as one historic example of a Christian who challenged bishops when they strayed from the faith. Even though he was a devout monk, we lay people can still look to his dogmatic, polemic theology as a guide to how we too can be “the conscience” of the hierarchs.

Of note is Kowalchek’s blog Jacob’s Story, which is about her struggles with having lost a child. She says writing about her son’s death and its ramifications helps her to find her way “through the fog … in spite of grief.” It’s a beautiful site, filled with trials and triumphs, heartache and happiness, and compassion and kindness. It may speak to you if you have lost a son or daughter, or know someone who has.

In this episode, I interview Georgia native Nicole Elizabeth Williams, who is a public policy professional and former political campaign staffer. She holds two postgraduate degrees from the University of Glasgow in the fields of public policy and political communication and is a 2010 graduate of Tulane University. She previously worked as a staffer for a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons in Great Britain prior to returning to the US. Her primary area of focus is the intersection of Southern colonial history and its effect on contemporary culture with a particular focus on the Scots-Irish.

Williams and I discuss moderns’ disdain for history and heritage, economic progressive nationalism vs traditionalism, the sad state of American conservatism, and the leftist colonization of the South, especially that of Richmond, Virginia - my native home and a place where she once worked for the inept city government.

Mentioned in our conversation are four must-read essays that Williams wrote for the Abbeville Institute: “How to Be a Conservative and the Southern Tradition,” “Rediscovering Heritage,” “What Price Prosperity?” and “The Tragedy of Land Use in the South.”

Episode 9 features Jack Kerwick, whose work has appeared in both scholarly journals and popular publications including Townhall, The Agonist, BeliefNet, Abbeville Institute, and Front Page Magazine. Kerwick received his doctoral degree in philosophy from Temple University. He is a professional philosopher who teaches at several institutions in New Jersey. Kerwick's areas of specialization are ethics and political philosophy, with a particular focus on the classical conservative tradition.

In our discussion, we talk about the riots and the fundamental transformation of the West, which is happening right before our very eyes. He sees hope in the self-defense measures taken by many Americans, as well as rising gun sales and the fact that the cultural-Marxist mayhem has been solely an urban phenomenon. But I’m not so sure. Will Americans who live outside of the cities actually rise us up? Can they under the current paradigm of state-sanctioned leftist violence and lawlessness toward the law-abiding? Will it even be enough? I’m a quite a bit more black-pilled than is Kerwick, but his ideas may be at least part of the solution. Take a listen and let me know what you think in the comment sections.

Kerwick’s books are “Higher Miseducation: A Dissident's Essays on the Assault against Liberal Learning,” “Misguided Guardians: The Conservative Case Against Neoconservatism,” “Christianity and the World: Essays Philosophical, Historical and Cultural,” and “The American Offensive: Dispatches From the Front.” Also of note is the book “Exiled: Stories from Conservative and Moderate Professors Who Have Been Ridiculed, Ostracized, Marginalized, Demonized, and Frozen Out,” which features an essay by Kerwick.

Episode 8 features James Edwards, host of the The Political Cesspool, a Tennessee-based syndicated talk-radio show that has been on air now for 16 years. Edwards is a free-speech advocate and does not shy away from hard conversations, which has gotten him in some hot water over the years.

Like his hero Nathan Bedford Forrest, Edwards has been maligned and vexed with guilt-by-association and guilt-by-accusation attacks for discussing topics that many others aren't willing to touch. Heck, he knew all about the tyranny of the PC gestapo and cancel culture back when some of us were still liberals and neocons. But also like Forrest, Edwards keeps raising the black flag and moving forward.

Mentioned in our conversation are my blog posts "White souls aren't worth much these days" and "White Christians should feel guilty," and Edwards' 2010 book "Racism, Shmacism: How Liberals Use the 'R' Word to Push the Obama Agenda.” Also mentioned is Pat Buchanan’s influence in Edwards' political activism, so I've included two TPC interviews in which Buchanan and Edwards discuss the stalwart's prophetic books “Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025?” and “Churchill, Hitler, and ‘The Unnecessary War’: How Britain Lost Its Empire and the West Lost the World.”

And if you'd like to listen to my appearance on TPC from back in April, click here. Live radio is a whole different beast than is podcasting. My sons claim that during my interview I said that Levon Helm played Loretta Lynn's "mother" in “Coal Miner's Daughter,” and when I referred to the Battle of the Crater in Petersburg, I called it the Siege of "Gettysburg." I vehemently denied both charges, but they're probably right. Oy. Hey, at least I'm raising kids who pay attention to detail. I really don't know how Edwards does it live every Saturday night.

Additional reading on Nathan Bedford Forrest's faith include articles "Nathan Bedford Forrest and God’s Amazing Grace" by Mike Scruggs and "When the Devil Got Saved: The Christian Conversion of Nathan Bedford Forrest" by Shane E. Kastler. For deeper biographical dives, check out the book "A Rebel Born: A Defense of Nathan Bedford Forrest" by Lochlainn Seabrook and the many articles on Forrest at the Abbeville Institute.

Episode 7 features Jon Harris, the host of the indispensable Conversations That Matter podcast. In it, this bold Christian truth-teller and I discuss the riots, anti-whiteness, the "new religion" of social justice, the importance of Southern history, and much more. It's a dose of realism and hope all rolled into one informative package.

Unfortunately, we did not get to talk about Harris' book "Sacred Conviction: The South's Stand for Biblical Authority," which was written under a pen name, but he's proud to call his own. Maybe we'll get Harris on again some time to discuss this work; my guess is that with the way Woke-Murica's barreling toward the cliff of nihilism, we won't be wanting for new topics of discussion. In the meantime, let's pray for the repentance and salvation of our enemies, pray for the clarity and courage of our fellow Christians, pray for the destruction of evil and its false prophets, and trust in the Lord and keep trying to do as best as possible what He has commanded us to do. Like the godly General Robert E. Lee once wrote, "Do your duty in all things. You cannot do more; you should never wish to do less." Amen to that. And here's a link to the Harvard "whiteness" debate I referenced during our interview.

Episode 6 features Dr. Donald Livingston, founder of the Abbeville Institute and Professor Retired of Philosophy at Emory University. Livingston received his doctorate at Washington University in 1965. He has been a National Endowment Independent Studies fellow and a fellow for the Institute of Advanced Studies in the humanities at the University of Edinborough. He has served on the editorial board of Hume Studies and Chronicles: A Magazine of American Culture. Livingston's books include "Hume's Philosophy of Common Life" and "Philosophical Melancholy and Delirium." He contributed to and edited the book "Rethinking the American Union for the 21st Century" and is currently finishing up "Why Some Americans Need To Believe the War Was About Slavery and Why America is Again Coming Apart Today."

It was a tremendous honor to interview Dr. Livingston, who is both a humble gentleman and a brilliant stalwart for truth. In our chat, he discusses Southern tradition, secession, the American myth of "equality," how the War wasn't about slavery, faith, and much more. I pray you all will learn from Livingston, just as I always do. Happy listening! Other books mentioned in the podcast include "North Over South: Northern Nationalism and American Identity in the Antebellum Era," "Nullification and Secession In Modern Constitutional Thought," and "Who Owns America?: A New Declaration of Independence."

Today's episode features Paul C. Graham, author, co-creator of Shotwell Publishing, philosopher, Southern-without-apology mover and shaker, and all-around great guy. Paul and I talk about his fascinating bio, Southern history, especially that of Columbia, SC, current events, and much more. Honestly, the two of us could have continued chatting another hour (or two!), so I hope you find this peek into what makes Paul tick as riveting an interview as do I.

Mentioned in our discussion are his free e-book "Confederaphobia," his book "When the Yankees Come: Former South Carolina Slaves Remember Sherman's Invasion," as well as "American History for Home Schools, 1607 to 1885, With a Focus on Our Civil War" and "Exploring the Southern Tradition," two works of which he was a contributing author.
