Yes, you read that correctly, Jocelyn watched Sonic 2 because of your awesome Extra Life donations in 2022. However, we didn’t record an audio commentary, as we figured a podcast discussion would be the most accessible way to hear Jocelyn’s journey through this SEGA epic. While we didn’t think we could talk about Sonic 2 for an hour, we sort of did… But fear not! We have a few video game news stories as well with the increase in price for PlayStation Plus tiers and the confirmation that Elder Scrolls 6 has entered early development.

We kick things off this week with a look forward to Starfield as Ryan contemplates how he's going to finish Baldur's Gate III by September 6th, although he did just wrap up Act I and is making his way through Act II of BG III. After a bit of a break for summer vacation and sick kids, we return with "Cozy MMO" Palia which is now in Open Beta. As promised, we've also been playing Baldur's Gate III. Just first impressions for now, so expect more Baldur's Gate III on future episodes this month! Over in the news, EA has announced a single player Black Panther game, Baldur's Gate 3 revealed some Druid specific romance scenes, and Square Enix is considering more remasters.

Travis guests on the show this week to discuss his time with the new PlayStation 5 exclusive: Final Fantasy XVI. Ryan joins in on the chat thanks to his time with the demo. In the news Nintendo fills us in on their Fall lineup, Meta reveals their VR subscription service, and the latest from the Activision Blizzard acquisition hearings.
Ryan and Jocelyn catch up on all things video game showcases, with not one, not two... BUT FIVE video game showcases worth of news to discuss. And this doesn't even include the Nintendo Direct taking place in time for our next episode... We kick things off with a promise to wrap up our Tears of the Kingdom chat soon, then move into the Summer Game Fest showcase. Afterwards we go over the Xbox + Starfield Showcase, where we are very much looking forward to Fable. Moving into the second part of our showcase discussion, we share our highlights from the PC Gaming Show, Ubisoft Forward, and the Capcom Showcase (we love you Capcom!).
We had to shift our schedule just a bit, but that's resulted in us having not one, but TWO banners of heroes to go over. We kick things off with a new Resplendent Hero for FEH Pass subscribers, plus a bit of a maintenance update with Version 7.6, and the Mid-Point celebration. Moving into the banners for our episode, first up we have New Heroes & Mythic Heiðr, then move over to the first batch of Summer Heroes with Summer Longing. Before we close out the show, we visit the Outrealm Gate to discuss the soon to be launched GBA game Fire Emblem on the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass.
We have more Tears of the Kingdom thoughts to share, this time with some spoilers to work through. Please be sure to look at the time stamps in the notes to avoid story spoilers if you're still making your way through the game. That being said, let's dive into more Tears of the Kingdom (we promise we'll have new games to chat about soon). Also in what we're playing, Ryan checks in on the Cook Serve Delicious franchise with the latest offering in Early Access: Cook Serve Forever. Also from Apple and WWDC is a new Proton-like tool that will allow Mac users to run Windows games. Finally, we look forward to the upcoming video game announcements with Xbox committing to no CG trailers for their first party games.

Ryan and Jocelyn returned from Ragnarok to offer early game impressions and story thoughts (we don't go further than the completion of the quest The Word of Fate, around the 15 hour mark). If you're looking to stay spoiler free on God of War Ragnarok, you may want to use the time stamps to head into the news. Speaking of the news, we'll have a full Inn-side the Game for God of War Ragnarok in a few weeks, so stay tuned! But also the news, Netflix is developing a triple-A PC game, and some stories out of the Activision Blizzard acquisition as Sony lightly confirms a PS6 after 2027 and the FTC may be launching an anti-trust lawsuit soon.

We had a blast raising funds for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals while playing Splatoon 3, Overcooked 2, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, Hearthstone, Sea of Thieves, and Dead by Daylight with our amazing guests. Looking at subscriptions, both Xbox and PlayStation had some news for their respective services. Finally, we close out the show with the VERY expensive PlayStation VR2.
Marvel SNAP has been enjoying a global release for the last week, so Ryan checks in on the game to join Jocelyn in her obsession for the new card battler. Before the news, Jocelyn continues her Norse adventures in Northgard, while Ryan re-subscribes to Apple Arcade for Shovel Knight Dig. Wrapping up the show, we go over two major showcases from the past week, one from Konami on all things Silent Hill and another from Capcom for upcoming Resident Evil content.

Speaking of Game Club, if you have suggestions for our next game, be sure to drop them into our Game Club channel in Discord soon! We have a lighter section on the games we played this week, but make up for it with video game news. First up, a Nintendo fan purchased a good chunk of Nintendo stock to ask a question at an investor's meeting, She-Hulk may be the next hero to arrive in Marvel's Avengers, Sony confirms God of War Ragnarok will launch in November, and Xbox 360 games will no longer be included in Games with Gold starting in October. Moving into the news, Square Enix has announced when to expect the second part to the Final Fantasy VII Remake project, and Tony Hawk himself confirms Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4 was planned but is now in limbo.
What’s this, another extra long TGI because of the Ghost of E3? It’s true! We start off with Ryan’s final thoughts on season 1 of the Halo TV series, then move in to the Xbox + Bethesda 2022 Showcase. There’s a lot to break down from Xbox, but we leave some time to chat about the Capcom Showcase as well.

We're kicking off Extra Life earlier this year, with the team page up and Travis starting his streams in June. Make sure you tune in! Also, Ryan is late to the party, but he's finally finished Guardians of the Galaxy. Moving into the news, we chat about the announcement of Marvel Snap, and more details emerge for the new PlayStation Plus offerings.
Crofton Steers of Dungeons & Diapers fame is our guest co-host this week, as Jocelyn will be away for a few more episodes. Ryan finally enjoys the chore of unpacking with Unpacking on Xbox Game Pass, which leads into a chat about playing smaller titles in between larger ones. This conversation brings up some thoughts on Guardians of the Galaxy, which we'll have more in a future episode as Ryan is nearly finished the action adventure game. Wrapping up what we're playing, Crofton goes over the fun he had playing Demeo with a few friends on PC and VR. Plus Nintendo ramps up marketing for Three Hopes with a few Twitter profiles and a trailer featuring the heroes from the Lions of Faerghus. We chat about the hardware, the software, and everything in between! Moving into the news, Blizzard has announced a new Warcraft mobile game, Nintendo confirmed some 2022 shuffles, and Square Enix sells it's Western studios to the Embracer Group.
A bit of a shorter show this week, but we do have a new Mythic Hero discuss, the next update, and the next section of Game Club going up to Chapter 13 of Fire Emblem Awakening.
We come back after a break around Easter to cover the new heroes that came out last week, as well as all the influx of news for Three Houses and Three Hopes. We also cover the next segment of Fire Emblem Awakening going up through Chapter 9 and including 2 paralogues.
As promised, Ryan has completed Horizon Forbidden West in April, so we're ready for our spoiler discussion episode! We cap off the discussion with our thoughts on the ending and what may be next for the franchise.
Ryan gets one more opportunity to chat about the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie because he saw it in theatres! Jocelyn continues her late March video game madness with Ghostwire Tokyo. Moving into the news, we spend the remainder of the show discussing the idea of the "metaverse" with the news of LEGO and Sony investing billions in Epic Games.
This week we return to discuss the new Young Heroes banner that has become the consistent April special heroes, this year from Tellius and Path of Radiance. We have a video game movie to talk about this week, and before you ask, it's NOT Sonic! It's actually Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. While Ryan chatting about the movie with his co-host on Zombies Ate My Podcast, we thought it would be a good idea to share the film with TGI as well! Plus, Ryan dove into Pokemon Legends Arceus, so we'll have some first impression thoughts to go over there as well. Moving into the news, Ghostbusters is getting a new video game from the devs behind Friday the 13th, Supermassive surprised us with a brand new game coming in June, and The Witcher will return in video game form thanks to Unreal Engine 5.
Ryan kicks off the show with a surprise for Jocelyn, before quickly pivoting over to Guardians of the Galaxy. While he's had the game since last year, we figured this was a good time to discuss it with the game arriving on Xbox Game Pass. We then move into Horizon Forbidden West, which does include some spoilers for the first half of the game (check the time stamps below). We'll have a full spoilercast for Horizon soon! After our slight spoiler chat, we move into the latest video game news including Microsoft's Perfect Dark studio troubles, Riot Games investing in the animation studio behind Arcane, and more info on Hogwarts Legacy expected shortly.
Spring is on the horizon and the reason we know is because Fire Emblem Heroes has new Spring Special Heroes! We also discuss the next Resplendent Hero and the latest Legendary Hero to get some upgraded skills.

Ryan is away this week, but we've got Beau Schwartz of CORE fame here to talk all about Elden Ring, and why even those who didn't love previous FromSoftware titles might want to dig their teeth into this one. There's also a little bit of chatter about Forbidden West and Disco Elysium off the top. Enjoy!
Horizon Forbidden West has finally arrived and we're ready to start chatting about it! That being said, if you're worried about spoilers, we have not made actually made it to the Forbidden West in the game, so that will give you an idea of where we're at. After a good introduction to the new Horizon, we move into the latest video game news. This includes the new Uncharted film performing well, Call of Duty may be skipping 2023, and Dead by Daylight may be getting a dating sim spin off.
After a brief video game TV/movie update brought to you by Paramount+, we move into a discussion of Death's Door. Afterwards, Jocelyn goes over her adventures in Lost Ark and Final Fantasy XIV. As we jump back into the news Horizon continues to invade Joce's shelf space with the newly announced LEGO Tallneck, Cyberpunk 2077 has received it's current generation console upgrade, the Wii U and 3DS eShop is being shut down, and a Bioshock movie is back on the table thanks to Netflix.
This week we have a new batch of Valentine’s units to discuss the details of, as well as remixed Legendary and Mythic units. We also received surprising news in the Nintendo Direct where a brand new Fire Emblem game was announced (but not the one we were expecting)!
Note: You may hear some fun loving kids in the background, as we had to record during the day to fit the episode into our schedules. Consider them adding their support for a new Fire Emblem Warriors game!

After we kick off the countdown of non-Horizon Forbidden West Gamers' Inn episodes, we move over to a fan favourite of 2021: Incryption. Ryan started his journey through the creepy card battler over the holidays, and finished before this episode, while Jocelyn is fresh on her path to defeating Leshy. We keep the conversation spoiler free, as we recommend going into this one fresh. In the news, we have our first full length trailer for the Halo TV series, Sony is buying Bungie for 3.6 billion dollars, and Wordle joins the acquisition club thanks to the New York Times.
Ryan and Jocelyn return to share more of their thoughts on Nobody Saves The World. Plus, Ryan returns to the stealth strategy genre with Shadow Tactics: Aiko's Choice. Over in the news, there's more to dive into when it comes to the Activision Blizzard acquisition, which includes diving into the back catalogue of Activision franchises, and Call of Duty staying on PlayStation (for now). Finally, we close out the show with Blizzard's recruiting announcement for a new survival game based on a fresh IP (tune into The Instance this week for more on this one from Joce).
We have new Special Heroes to cover with the Hatari focused Of Lost Kingdoms banner. Plus Choose Your Legends 6 has started, as we all prep for the 5th Anniversary of FEH starting in early February.

That's right, we're celebrating TEN YEARS of The Gamers' Inn this week. The celebrations include a Guess That Game segment with clips selected by listeners of the show, and some listener suggested topics to help us look back at the last 500 episodes. We chat about one new game called Nobody Saves The World, that's out now on Game Pass (more on the game next week). Finally, we close out the show with the bombshell news that Microsoft is buying Activision Blizzard for 70 billion dollars! This is a developing story, and just broke the day we recorded. Likely more to discuss next episode.
We have a bit of a shorter episode this week because while we did get a set of Special Heroes it was so close to recording time we decided to hold off until next week. We cover the remixed Legendary Heroes and finish off Fire Emblem Warriors this week as well as the new figure coming out in the future.

We’re back with our first episode of 2022 as we hurdle ever closer to the big TGI 500. We kick off the show with some holiday game discussions as Jocelyn purchased Skyrim again, leading to her playing a bunch of Elder Scrolls Online. Also Dead by Daylight appears to be having some balance issues. Ryan finished up Halo Infinite over the holidays, and managed to squeeze in some time with The Gunk, both on Xbox/PC Game Pass. Finally, Ryan has been enjoying the devilish delights of Rogue Lords. We forgo the news to discuss our most anticipated titles of 2022, including some honourable mentions.
We kick off our first normal episode of 2022 by catching up on the last few weeks of summoning, then move into the last few weeks of Fire Emblem Heroes! First up, Eddie and Ryan discuss their thoughts on the latest addition to FEH Pass. Then we discuss Version 6.1, which is now available. Finally, we close the show with an overview of the New Year’s Special Heroes, followed by the New Heroes featuring Ascended Joshua. This sparks a bit of a Sacred Stones/Joshua conversation, and how Ascended Heroes could be handled in the future. Oh, and a Game Club update for 2022! Some exciting plans on the horizon!

Ryan welcomes back Jocelyn with a surprise ripped straight from The Game Awards. Then we move into our promised Arcane spoilers, where we discuss the first full season for the Netflix animated series. While Jocelyn was away she completed the entire main game of Control, including the Alan Wake expansion. Moving into our news segment, we focus in on The Game Awards, looking at the awards and the announcements.
Jimmy The "Play Trails" Shovel guests on the show this week with Ryan to dive into the latest anime experiences! Jim kicks things off with Scarlet Nexus, which he played on Xbox Game Pass for PC. Inspired by Ryan's time with Arcane, he checked out League of Legends: Wild Rift and Legends of Runeterra on iOS. Closing out our games section, Jim updates us all on the Doki Doki Literature Club Pus, an updated paid version to the free game. In the news, we have a large chunk of Activision Blizzard updates where one of the protest leads is leaving Blizzard, The Game Awards made headlines for how they may or may not deal with Activision Blizzard, and Raven QA team members let go after being promised full time positions for months. Closing out the news, we look at the reports that PlayStation is preparing a response to Xbox Game Pass.
We're soon to be all loaded up on current generation consoles as Jocelyn has successfully ordered a PlayStation 5! Plus, what should we do for our 500th episode to mark ten years of The Gamers' Inn? Moving into games that we're playing, Ryan is driving around in Forza Horizon 5 while thinking about Xbox Game Pass. Jocelyn on the other hand is crafting the superior dinosaur park in Jurassic World Evolution 2. Moving into the news, we have more on Activision Blizzard as Sony, Xbox, and Nintendo all weigh in on the matter. And to conclude the news, League of Legends is renewed at Netflix with Arcane Season 2 in production, and Amazon may be adapting Mass Effect soon.
Ryan and Jocelyn take a break from video games to talk about a Netflix series based on a video game! That's right, we discuss the first three episodes of Arcane, the new League of Legends series. We discuss some spoilers for this first arc, so if you're looking to experience yourself, best skip ahead. Next up, Ryan had some time in Back 4 Blood with his ZAMP co-host. In the news, there's another damning update in the Activision Blizzard saga as WSJ has released a report on Bobby Kotick's actions over the years and the story behind Jen O'Neal's departure. In more news, The Game Awards released it's nominee list, and for Xbox's 20th anniversary Microsoft announced a documentary, showcased the first teaser for the Halo TV series, and launched Halo Infinite multiplayer early!
After a very successful Extra Life Game Day, Ryan and Jocelyn bring The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes to the inn. We go into full spoilers for the entire game, so if you're looking to experience the game for yourself be sure to skip ahead. Before closing out the show, we chat about the continuing adventures of video game movies where Nintendo is looking at their next film starring Donkey Kong, and Mass Effect 5 received new concept art for N7 Day.
Both Jocelyn AND Ryan return this week to catch up on all the latest games and Chris Pratt news. Ryan brings a slew of games to chat about including his final thoughts on Metroid Dread (and a little Super Metroid thrown in for good measure). Plus a visit to the post apocalyptic sim builder genre with Endzone: A World Apart. Finally, we conclude what we're playing with the overpriced, but nostalgia driven N64 expansion to Nintendo Switch Online (and N64 wireless controller). In the news, there's more Activision Blizzard updates with BlizzConline 2022 cancelled, Overwatch 2/Diablo IV being delayed, and Jen Oneal (one of the co-leaders) leaving the company. Plus we get Jocelyn's take on that new Uncharted movie trailer.
While Jocelyn is away, Crofton from Dungeons & Diapers joins Ryan on the show to unpack Metroid Dread. We keep the conversation relatively spoiler free, so don't worry if you're avoiding story spoilers outside of the intro. Moving over to the news, Nintendo unveiled the final free update for Animal Crossing New Horizons, alongside details for a DLC and the final pricing for Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack. We also got our first look at the Uncharted movie with a new trailer!
Jocelyn returns to the show having finished up Alan Wake Remastered, and is ready to continue on with the Remedy-verse. To prepare for this journey, you may want to check out our Inn-side the Game episode of Quantum Break. Ryan keeps the Alan Wake track going with the Control DLC for Alan Wake title AWE. Ryan also received Metroid Dread a little late, so we tease next weeks discussions on the game. In the news, we offer an update on the Twitch hacks (including reports from Eurogamer and The Verge on Twitch security policies), as well as an update on the Fortnite's Imposters Mode with a possible collaboration coming with the Among Us developers.
We kick off the show with Jocelyn’s experience playing Alan Wake Remasteted on Xbox Series X. The shadow people are here and we’re nearly out of batteries! Ryan returns to Life is Strange: True Colors one last time for the release of the Wavelengths DLC (part of the Deluxe Edition, provided by review code). In the news, we have confirmation that The Game Awards will return to an in-person show on December 9th, Smash Bros. Ultimate final DLC character is Sora, and Twitch suffers a HUGE breach with source code, unreleased projects, and top streamer earnings leaked online.
Two brand new games to discuss this week, with Ryan bringing Tales of Arise to the main show from the TGI Patreon Mini Update Corner, and Jocelyn checking out the new Amazon MMO New World. In the news, we have yet another Activision Blizzard update where a lawsuit was filed and quickly settled (but there's some weirdness to this one), plus we break down the highlights from the latest Nintendo Direct (yes, including the Mario movie casting).
We kick off the show wondering what we should do for episode 500, but ultimately decided we should leave it up to the community! Be sure to let us know in the Discord! Ryan then moves into his final thoughts on Life is Strange: True Colors after completing the game (Special thanks to Square Enix for providing a review code). Jocelyn on the other hand has jumped into the sequel to I Am Bread, titled I Am Fish. Moving into lighter news, God of War director explains why the Norse Saga is only two chapters, and Pokemon Company announces Pokemon Trading Card Game LIVE.
We kick off the show with some thoughts on the launch of Deathloop. While we haven't had a chance to play, we react to the positive reviews on PlayStation 5 alongside the rocky reviews on Steam. Moving over to what we have played, Ryan received a review code for Life is Strange: True Colors on Xbox Series X and has some initial thoughts on the first chapter. We also confirm the next focus for the TGI Patreon Mini Update Corner, which will be Tales of Arise! In the news, we have another Activision Blizzard update with ANOTHER lawsuit being brought forward, LEGO announces a new Super Mario 64 set, Hayley Atwell will be the new voice of Lara Croft on Netflix, and the Epic v Apple ruling is in (but not over with an appeal from Epic).
We return a little later this week, for good reason, as we wait for PlayStation to finally showcase their upcoming games. But before we breakdown the latest exclusives from the house of Kratos, Ryan and Jocelyn introduce listeners to their Extra Life plans! As of now, we'll have multiple streaming events, first starting in October. If you can donate, please do so at bit.ly/tgiextralife2021, or share our team page. Every little bit helps! Plus he has a review to share on the Backbone One controller, which he has been using with Xbox Cloud Gaming and Remote Play. In the news, we kick things off with the story that Nintendo may be adding Game Boy and Game Boy Colour games to their online service, and Alan Wake finally returns with a Remaster of the original game and DLC. Finally, we close the show with our highlights from the PlayStation Showcase!
As promised, we kick off the show with our 12 Minutes spoiler discussion. After an extra week with the game, we've got some thoughts to get off our chests. If you're avoiding spoilers, or want to avoid discussion on the game (as it goes PLACES), check the time stamps below and skip ahead. Following 12 Minutes, Ryan has returned to Square Enix's Marvels Avengers with the latest content drop: War for Wakanda Expansion. In the news, we have the latest Activision Blizzard update with the planned renaming of McCree in Overwatch, we go over some highlights from Opening Night Live at GamesCom (including the confirmed delay of Horizon Forbidden West), and we discuss the first images from the new Resident Evil movie.
Looking forward to our thoughts on Twelve Minutes? Ryan has some non-spoiler points to share, but we’re going to wait until next episode for a full spoiler discussion. So head on over to Xbox Game Pass and play! What have we played? Well, Jocelyn and Ryan both played HUMANKIND, a brand new 4X game from Amplitude Studios. Heavily inspired by Civilization, the game really took hold of Jocelyn’s sleep schedule, as most 4X games tend to do. One more turn? Yes please!
We return to the inn with not one, but two brand new roguelites to discuss! Ryan brought Dreamscaper to the show, while Jocelyn completed Boyfriend Dungeon. Both innkeepers entered the world of Pokémon Unite on Nintendo Switch, and share some thoughts on the new MOBA from Pokémon Company and Tencent. In the news, we cover the latest on Activision Blizzard and how they've treated QA and CS contract staff, FROSTPUNK 2 HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED (and we're excited), Fortnite absorbs the Among Us gameplay style, and Stranger Things will be exiting Dead by Day light soon.

In her time off, Jocelyn purchased a new curved monitor to up her spreadsheet game. Moving over to games played, Jocelyn rolled the dice with a new resource management simulation game out of early access called Atomic Society. Ryan on the other hand took Jocelyn's recommendation to heart and played A LOT of Imagine Earth. Moving over to the news, we update everyone on the Activision Blizzard situation, discussing Fran Townsend stepping down from the company's women's network, an Activision Blizzard shareholder joining the fight in calling for a better response from the company, and more confirmed firings of Blizzard developers. Our last news story of the show looks at Niantic's response to a player protest against the roll back of pandemic changes to Pokemon Go.
Joce is away this week, so Ryan welcomes Babylon Redeemer on to the show. Also known as Josh! Ryan and Josh discuss Dark Deity, a Steam game that is heavily inspired by the Fire Emblem franchise. In the news, we go over the updates for the Activision Blizzard situation, with the employee walkout, new leadership announced at Blizzard, and a second lawsuit against Activision Blizzard because of the State of California suit. We also offer our thoughts on the new Steam Deck hardware, the potential for a Horizon Forbidden West delay into 2022, and Aloy joining Genshin Impact in the Fall.
This week's Gamers' Inn focuses on the State of California suing Activision Blizzard for operating a workplace that created a breeding ground for harassment and discrimination against women. In past Gamers' Inn episodes we've discussed how women are treated in the video game industry, in video game communities, and in video games in general, and we've said it's time to listen. But now, we're saying it's time to change.
Both Ryan and Jocelyn are all in on The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, with the game, the amiibo, and the new Joy-Cons. After a return trip to 2011, we dive into the news for a bit with a confirmation from Netflix about getting into games, and the Director of FFXIV addressing a sudden surge in players and how they're addressing server instability. Oh, and don't worry, we'll chat about Steam Deck next week!
We kick off the show with some thoughts on the latest return to 2011 with Skyward Sword HD, out on Friday. More thoughts on that next week! Speaking of Year 1 TGI fun, Ryan continues his time with the Mass Effect Legendary Edition having finished up Mass Effect 2. Jocelyn brings Shadowlands back to the Inn, with the latest content patch 9.1 - Chains of Domination. If you're trying to avoid story spoilers, you may want to skip over the discussion starting at the time marked below. After the WoW update, we move over to the news where Netflix is making moves into the video game industry by hiring an ex-EA and Facebook executive to be VP of Game Development.
Lou returns to the show to help Ryan discuss the brand new Resident Evil animated series from Netflix title Infinite Darkness. But before we breakdown the new zombie drama, Lou and Ryan have some additional thoughts to share on the Mass Effect Legendary Edition, which Lou has started playing on PC. In the news, Nintendo finally unveiled their next Switch model with very little internal changes, and Ubisoft confirms Assassin's Creed Infinity after Jason Schreier spills the beans.
We kick off the show with... checks notes Clifford the Big Red Dog? Any ways, after that we move over to Ryan's concluding thoughts on Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Then we move into the brand new expansion of content for Sea of Thieves crossing over with Pirates of the Caribbean titled A Pirate's Life. Moving over to the news for the week, Microsoft confirms they have moved Xbox Cloud Gaming over to Series X hardware, Windows 11 is going to have some exciting video game features, and CD Projekt RED is "satisfied" with Cyberpunk 2077 stability and performance.
We begin the show by going over our plans for the Sea of Thieves and Pirates crossover, because you never play a live game on the first day of a big content drop. After ranking the Pirates of the Caribbean films, Ryan chats about his time with the Summer Game Fest and Steam Next Fest demo events. On the Xbox side, Ryan checked out the fantastic Tunic, as well as Deathtrap Dungeon, Sable, and Lake. On the Steam side, Ryan loved bringing nature back to the wasteland in Terra Nil. After a feast of demos, Ryan gives his early impressions on Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, with more to come next week when the game is complete. Finally, we close the show with the news where Cyberpunk 2077 has returned the PlayStation Store, EA MAY be reviving Dead Space, LEGO Mario has a new wave of fun arriving in August, and Xbox appears to be upgrading their xCloud servers.
Ryan returns to TGI, just in time to go over some of the biggest news from E3 2021 with Jocelyn. We kick things off with the highlights from Ubisoft Forward, then move into the "Available on Xbox Game Pass" presentation from Xbox and Bethesda. In the second half of the show, we chat about the Marvel games featured in the Square Enix Presents event, then close out the show with the Nintendo Direct (filled with much anticipated follow ups and sequels).
Ryan is away this week, so Joce takes over the show with ESO: Blackwood talk and special guest Scott Johnson! They go over the stories they love, where ESO might head next, the new companion system, Oblivion themed public dungeons, and more! Looking to start fresh in ESO, check out this Complete Beginners Guide. They then take a look at the highlights of the Summer Game Fest kickoff stream, and last but not least, chat about the newly announced MMO Palia.
As of this recording, Nintendo has yet to announce the rumoured Nintendo Switch Pro. But that doesn't stop us from chatting about it at the top of the show! When we get to the games we're playing, Ryan talks about his time with Biomutant, while Jocelyn dives into planetary settlement in Imagine Earth. In the news, PlayStation dropped about 20 minutes of PlayStation 5 gameplay for Horizon Forbidden West, God of War pushed to 2022 but will be available on PS4, and finally BlizzCon 2021 has been cancelled.
Board games return to The Gamers' Inn thanks to Jocelyn's long weekend time with Horizon Zero Dawn: The Board Game. In the news we got a new teaser for the next Dark Pictures Anthology game, Summer Games Fest will have an announcement filled event on June 10th, we know who will be in the Resident Evil crossover with Dead by Daylight, and Horizon Forbidden West will have a game play showcase THIS WEEK.
Mass Effect is BACK with the Legendary Edition, bundling the original trilogy with (almost) all the DLC, remastered for a new generation of consoles. We've only had a chance to focus on Mass Effect 1, but we talk about our history with the franchise, and what we're looking forward to. Including maybe possibly the chance of Mass Effect 3 multiplayer coming to the Legendary Edition?
Ryan kicks things off with some Xbox stuff, including his short amount of time with the Xbox Series X. Plus a good chunk of time with the Xbox Cloud Gaming iOS beta. He also picked up an 8Bitdo Mobile Gaming Clip for Xbox Controllers to help with his testing effort. Jocelyn watched a good chunk of Resident Evil Village through iosefka's Twitch streams, so we have some viewers impressions on the latest scarefest from Capcom. Finally, Ryan has a quick Xenoblade Chronicles 2 update. Over to the news, Sony confirms that PlayStation 5 stock struggles will continue into 2022, and Nintendo stealth announces Game Builder Garage.
Ryan attempts to trick Jocelyn into bringing more TV content on to the show, but it doesn't fly, so he settles for books. This week, Ryan brings the Ask Iwata book to the show, which includes interviews with the late Nintendo President Saturo Iwata. We offer our thoughts on whether Resident Evil Village is in our future, thanks to Ryan's time with the demo. Finally, we close out What We're Playing by closing the book on our return to Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (for now). In the news, Microsoft commits to PC gaming with a few cool announcements, Mass Effect Legendary Edition is confirmed to have a large Day One patch, Sony invests in Discord for future partnerships with PlayStation, and a few high level details from the ongoing Epic vs Apple trial (like Sony's insistence on being paid for cross-play and Metroid possibly coming to Fortnite).
We kick off the show with a story of saying goodbye to Ryan's PlayStation 4 Pro. Then, as promised, we accept the challenge to return to Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on Nintendo Switch. You're welcome Discord! Finally, we close out the show with the news, featuring a change to the weird Resident Evil Village demo schedule, Super Mario Party FINALLY gets more online support, and Former Dignitas and Houston Rockets execs launch Esports Certification Institute.

In the news, the release of Days Gone on PC has us talking about that other Days Gone news, Luigi joins his brother in LEGO form this August, and Resident Evil has a lot of fun planned for their 25th anniversary.
Travis from Pixel Mountain Pop Art guests this week to bring Horizon Zero Dawn back on The Gamers' Inn! And speaking of returns, Travis has been working his way through the mainline Final Fantasy games and goes over the Lightning Trilogy of Final Fantasy XIII. Ryan on the other hand is exploring Oddworld Soulstorm on PlayStation 5 thanks to PlayStation Plus this month. In the news, Bioware shows off their work on the new Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Aloy arrives in Fortnite (like everyone else not associated with Nintendo), and a new Jason Schreier report shares inside details from some of PlayStation's internal studios.
New guest host Dustin (@TriplePhase3 on Twitter and Twitch) joins the show to help Ryan break down what's fun, and what's weird about the new co-op sci-fi shooter Outriders. We both played it on Xbox Game Pass, and chat about the story, gameplay, and of course those random transition cutscenes. Dustin also talks about his time with the new killer in Dead by Daylight, and slowly solving puzzles through the creepy worlds of Little Nightmares I and II. In the news, Game Pass gets another boost with backwards compatible games coming to xCloud, and the ESA confirms a digital only E3 2021.

Ryan played the Friend Pass version of the game, which includes a Free Trial of the first level, and allows you to play with a Friend who has purchased the game at no additional cost. Ryan has also been continuing his adventures in Fire Emblem Three Houses for our Game Club on Summoner's Call. Josh concludes our What We're Playing segment with his time in Valkyria Chronicles. Over in the news, Valve has announced dates for the next Steam Next Fest, Ghost of Tsushima is being adapted into a movie, CD Projekt RED shares it's future plans for development, and Sony confirms the closure of some older digital stores.
Jim joins us on the show to bring some anime to the inn, with talk of the Trails series and 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. Ryan brings Stubbs back from the dead with the re-release of Rebel Without a Pulse, and Square Enix attempts to resurrect Marvel's Avengers with a next generation upgrade (and two Hawkeyes). Moving into the news, we go over the highlights from the Square Enix Presents event, video games continue to be delayed out of 2021 with Gotham Knights being the latest, Sony unveils the new PSVR controllers, and Microsoft may be throwing even more money around in the industry for Discord.
While Jocelyn is away, Ryan welcomes Crofton from Dungeons & Diapers to chat about his "games to play when there are no games coming out" collection. Featuring the triumphant return of Uncharted 4, No Man's Sky, and Breath of the Wild. On the other hand, Ryan tests out his direction instructing skills by playing We Were Here Together. Plus, just one more loop in Loop Hero! Moving into the news, lots of Game Pass going around, but the most interesting has to be the confirmation that Outriders will be available at launch with the service on April 1st. Finally, Dark Alliance makes it's return this summer!
Jocelyn runs the numbers with Democracy 4, a politics simulator that is heavy on the stats, graphs, and Steam mods. Ryan then updates us on his time with the PlayStation 5, exploring the wonders of downloading (and accidentally deleting) both PS4 and PS5 versions of the same game. He then chats about his time with Maquette (which he consistently calls Marquette, leading to some not so helpful internet searches). Moving into the news, new reports show an upgraded Switch is likely for 2021, Valve is ceasing development on Artifact 2.0, Marvel's Avengers does it's best to stay in the news for the wrong reasons, and Xbox officially welcomes Bethesda to the family.
Ryan received his PlayStation 5 and proceeded to watch progress bars for a few days as he moved into the next generation of PlayStation. But eventually, he got to play some games with Miles Morales and Astro's Playroom. TGI has upgraded and we're now fully capable of covering the next generation of consoles (when new games come out). We've got plenty of news from the latest State of Play and Pokemon Presents announcements. There's also a good chunk of info out of Bioware with Anthem Next being canned, the next Dragon Age being single player focused, and Henry Cavill teasing a Mass Effect project.
After a surprise PlayStation 5 update from both inn keepers, Ryan shares his thoughts on playing through Little Nightmares I and II. The sequel was actually played on Google Stadia, so Ryan chats about his experience with the game streaming technology. Jocelyn has been on a bit of viking kick in 2021, which continues with Valheim. Moving over to the news, Mortal Kombat is back for another run at theatres (this time with an R rating), Nintendo had a Direct, and BlizzConline brought the Activision Blizzard magic.
The Nintendo Switch has received yet another Wii U classic with the arrival of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. We spend some time discussing the new addition of online co-op to the base game, plus early thoughts on the Bowser's Fury expansion. In the news, we discuss a bit of video game movie magic with the release date confirmation for Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Then we speculate on what could be announced later on in the week at BlizzConline, and the first Nintendo Direct in over a year.
We're back to discussing The Medium, this time focusing on the story. We spoil the general story path, and discuss the ending. If you're interested in playing The Medium without being spoiled, you'll want to revisit this discussion at a later date. We conclude the show with the latest news, looking at Blizzard Activision having multiple Warcraft mobile games in advanced development, Gearbox is now a part of Embracer, and the ESA is planning an all digital E3 2021.
Ryan provides an update on his weird journey to try and buy a PlayStation 5. Both Jocelyn and Ryan played The Medium, but one on the Xbox Series X and the other on PC. Finally, Ryan wraps up his time (for now) with Cyberpunk 2077. We discuss the various endings, but in vague terms, in an attempt to keep things spoiler free. If you want to go in to the endings absolutely spoiler free, feel free to skip the discussion. We close out the show with various news stories, including that whole GameStop stock situation, there's some new Tomb Raider stuff coming, Google is shutting down internal Stadia studios, and we have more details and a release date for Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
Ryan unfortunately did not enjoy his time with Torchlight III, but has some tips for securing years of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate at a minimal cost. Jocelyn takes up medieval cemetery management with Graveyard Keeper. Ryan is ready to pick up a PlayStation 5, but are electronic stores ready? We go a little long in What We're Playing, but take some time to discuss the latest news out of Blizzard, with Vicarious Visions merging with Team 3 to work on a Diablo II remake.
We return after finishing Call of the Sea, and are ready to discuss the puzzles, the story, the setting, and of course... SPOILERS! We keep spoilers pretty light for the majority of our conversation, but begin a chat about the ending around the thirty minute mark. If you're looking to enjoy this game for yourself, from a story perspective, best to skip forward ten minutes to the news. Speaking of news! Ubisoft gets in on the Star Wars fun, and Pokemon will be celebrating 25 years in 2021. And finally, we receive more details on New Pokemon Snap, now due out on April 30th for Nintendo Switch.
Addressing the Old Man Murph in the room, Ryan played a lot of PC games over the last week (and promises to limit his complaining). These PC games include Cyberpunk 2077 and Horizon Zero Dawn. Both Joce and Ryan got a chance to check out Call of the Sea, a puzzle exploration game on Xbox Game Pass. In the news, Bowser gets furious in a new trailer for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, and Lucasfilm Games announces a new Indiana Jones game from Machine Games and Bethesda.
We're back for 2021 with this milestone, yet totally normal, episode of TGI! We kick things off with the most missed TGI Game of 2020, Hades. Ryan picked it up on Nintendo Switch, after the planets aligned with cloud sync, an eShop sale, and some eShop credit from Christmas. Jocelyn couched it up with some Assassin's Creed Valhalla over the holidays. Finally, Ryan played Super Meat Boy Forever on Nintendo Switch, which sees a change up to the classic Super Meat Boy formula in Ryan's favour (except for the bosses). We then close out the show with our most anticipated games scheduled for 2021.
Ryan and Jocelyn close out the year THAT WAS 2020 and chat about all their favourite video game experiences. We kick things off with our personal Top 5 (in no particular order), with a few Nintendo overlaps. After a good jolly chat about some great games, we continue talking about great games with our Honourable Mentions. What were your favourite games of 2020? Be sure to join the conversation in Discord. Thank you to all that supported The Gamers' Inn over the last year, and in previous years. We really appreciate it! Have yourselves a great holiday and see you in the New Year!
We've got plenty to say about Cyberpunk 2077, but before that we get an update on Ryan's adventures in Bugsnax and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. When it comes to Cyberpunk 2077, Ryan is playing on Xbox One X and Joce is playing on Xbox Series X (check out this great performance comparison by Digital Foundry). We chat about what we like about the game, the bugs we've encountered, the terrible performance issues on base PS4 and Xbox One, and of course all the refund madness (including the fact that most retailers are refusing refunds).
Joce and Ryan delay their recording this week to chat all about The Game Awards 2020! There were plenty of game announcements to get excited about, including creepy Vin Diesel AND a new Mass Effect. Also Perfect Dark is back! Some fun surprises, some cool indie games, and a few awards given out as well. Tune in for our GOTY episode in just a few weeks, until then happy gaming!
Jocelyn's Xbox Series X was not a mirage (or a box filled with rocks), so she was able to jump into Assassin's Creed Valhalla on the next gen system. We talk a whole bunch about the new viking adventure, so get your raiding axes ready. Afterwards, we wrap up our chats on Bugsnax, and dip our toes into Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and Jackbox Games Trivia Murder Party 2.
Jocelyn was able to get her Xbox Series X order in, but the quest was not an easy one, and some have her convinced it's an empty box? We shall see next week! While Joce waits for her Xbox, she has started her adventures in the Shadowlands for the new World of Warcraft expansion. Ryan promises to join her soon, but has been busy with Miles Morales and Bugsnax. That's right, we're talking about MORE Bugsnax! (Joce's Note: BUNGER, BUNGER, BUNGER, BUNGER)
We continue the conversation of not having next generation consoles, and our moments of weakness in trying to break from the PLAN. As promised, Ryan has been playing Spider-Man Miles Morales and takes some time to discuss his thoughts on why the game is a REALLY good cross generation game (be sure to check out IGN's Performance Review for Miles Morales). Jocelyn is talking about Bugsnax, because she has played Bugsnax. Light news week, what with the launch of TWO new consoles, but we take some time to discuss the latest Capcom leaks.
With our official Extra Life Game Day behind us, we go over the successes from the day where we managed to raise $4500 to date as a team! We relive our experiences in Phasmophobia thanks the lovely community helping us hit our $1500 raised for each of us. Then we calm things down with a discussion of our time in Raft. In the news, we get hopeful about the Legendary Edition of the Mass Effect Trilogy, but still wary about the promise of Bioware taking another stab at the franchise with a new game. Finally, we chat about our FOMO and the next generation of consoles launching this week.
Both Ryan and Jocelyn played and finished Little Hope through co-op. We actually streamed the whole thing and you can check it out if you'd like (Ryan's Perspective / Joce's Perspective). We spend the first chunk of the show sharing our thoughts on the first 3/4 of the game and how Supermassive Games constructed an excellent and tense experience featuring a good chunk of Witch Trials lore. We take a break with the news where the Tomb Raider movie sequel has been delayed indefinitely, Nintendo dropped some news with their final Partner Direct, and WoW Shadowlands has a new release date. Finally, we close the show with SPOILERS for the end of Little Hope. We highly recommend you skip the end of the show if you plan to play or experience the game for yourself. If you played the whole game, or watched our streams, feel free to join us through the end of the episode.
Ryan played a bunch of Amnesia Rebirth, the brand new horror game from Frictional Games. He also streamed the first three hours, so be sure to check that out! Ryan has also officially played more Minecraft in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate than he has played Minecraft in Minecraft. That's right, Steve and company are here as DLC for Smash! We have a bunch of news this week which includes our first look at Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, Google wants you to know they don't agree with that Alex guy, Facebook is launching a casual cloud gaming service, Netflix is making a live-action Assassin's Creed series, and Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed to December 10th.
After some deep thoughts about how old TGI is, we get down to business with more Genshin Impact. Jocelyn has been playing Phasmophobia by proxy and is getting ready to jump in herself (and possibly bringing Ryan along for Extra Life). We muse a bit about what it would take for us both to play and stream the game for Extra Life, so if you're interested, be sure to donate and mention it in your comment. Moving into the news, PlayStation is collecting feedback on their new voice chat reporting feature on the PlayStation 5, and Oculus + Facebook = broken Quest 2's?
After the Thanksgiving long weekend, Jocelyn and Ryan return to discuss their long weekend and their daily return to Animal Crossing during the Halloween event. Jocelyn backed that Frostpunk board game Kickstarter. Ryan followed the Discord's passion for Genshin Impact and dove into the free-to-play BOTW-like. Moving into the news, Microsoft has a plan to bring xCloud to iOS, Sony details backwards compatibility on PS5, Amazon pulls the plug on Crucible, and TMNT is coming to SMITE in November.
Jocelyn and Ryan return to their Animal Crossing island, and after consoling their distraught villagers, they start decorating for HALLOWEEN! Continuing the Nintendo trend, both inn keepers have been running through Super Mario Bros. 35, and offer some pointers to new players. Finally, in what we're playing, Ryan picked up the Super Mario LEGO Starter Pack and has been enjoying it with Kayden! In the news, Insomniac does a face swap on Peter Parker on the PS5, Blizzard delays World of Warcraft: Shadowlands and dates the expansion pre-patch, and Minecraft is coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate next week.
Ryan spends some more time with Super Mario 3D All-Stars. He also finds some Netflix time to check out High Score, a documentary series chronicling the 80's and 90's of the video game industry. Once again we have a good helping of news from the last week. Mike Morhaime is back with Dreamhaven. Microsoft announced pricing for the Series S/X storage expansion. Among Us developer scraps sequel to focus on original game. Turns out CD Projekt RED will need to do mandatory crunch on Cyberpunk 2077 after all. And finally, Amazon announces Luna, a new game streaming service that will directly compete with Google Stadia and Microsoft xCloud.
Ryan has closing thoughts on Marvel's Avengers (at least until there is a good patch or more hero content). Ryan also got a chance to boot up Super Mario 3D All-Stars, which is a collection of three great games that haven't aged particularly well. We'll have more thoughts on the collection next episode! Jocelyn shares her tales from sorting out the Imposters in Among Us. In the news, Sony makes it official and raises the prices on some next generation games, the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition may be tough to come by at launch, and Microsoft is buying ZeniMax (Bethesda, Arkane, ID, and MORE) for 7.5 BILLION DOLLARS.
We've had some more time with the remaster of a TGI Year 1 favourite, Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning. Afterwards, we jump into most of the next generation console news from the past week. This includes a confirmation of the Xbox Series X pricing, with Xbox All Access moving to 12 additional countries. PlayStation 5 had a huge news dump (both on stream and off), with pricing, release date, launch games, and much MUCH more!
Ryan returns with a tale of Paper Mario and the Wii U, his drop into Fall Guys, and reluctant (but hopeful) entry into Avengers post beta phase. In the news we chat about the leak and confirmation of the Xbox Series S from Microsoft, Nintendo's huge (and weird) celebration for the 35th anniversary of Super Mario, and Nintendo's surprise announcement of a Breath of the Wild prequel using the Hyrule Warriors gameplay style.
This week on TGI, Ryan is away so Joce is joined by friend of the show Jim! They talk about the newly released PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn, as well as backward compatibility questions that have been raised about the PS5, and wrap things up with games they were excited to see previewed at Gamescom.
We return with more thoughts on Frostpunk: On The Edge, the last DLC for one of our favourite games from 2018. Ryan converts a desktop game to mobile with Ancient Enemy and Steam Link, while also giving the Marvel Avengers beta another go. Moving into the news, we have an update on the Epic vs Apple case, plus all the fun Batman and DC video game announcements from DC Fandome.
Crofton and Ryan gather to bring you a special episode of Dungeons & Diapers! This time around, we're discussing Final Fantasy VII Remake with ALL the spoilers. What do we mean by ALL? Well, we discuss the remake, the original, and moments that aren't covered in the remake that could possibly pop up in Part II. I think we even talk about a PSP game.... Anyways, hope you enjoy this spoilercast and please let us know if you'd like to see more content like this from Dungeons & Diapers!
We revisit Frostpunk for one of last times, with their newest DLC: On The Edge. Jocelyn tested out Dead by Daylight's new Cross-Play and it works great! Ryan decided to check out Ghost... I mean GoT... Ghost of Tsushima! In the news, we go over Epic's spat with Apple and Google with Fortnite being removed from their respective mobile stores (and Apple going a step forward in stating they will terminate Epic's Developer Account if not resolved to their TOS). We wrap it all up with Facebook requiring Facebook accounts to use Oculus going forward.

Our show this week kicks off with a quick look at our The Last of Us Part II special series, and how you can see these specials become more of a regular occurrence. On to the games, both Jocelyn and Ryan have been destroying all humans in Destroy All Humans. Next up, Jocelyn jumps into the weird and wacky Fall Guys. Finally, Ryan checked out the new Avengers beta which was a bit of mixed bag. In the news, it's a Microsoft heavy segment with Apple blocking xCloud from iOS, Halo Infinite being delayed, and the Xbox Series X confirmed to be launching in November.
In the first episode, Ryan and Jon discuss their highlights from the first segment of The Last of Us Part II where you control Ellie. This should go without saying, but beware of spoilers if you have not completed the game. We do spoil moments throughout the game in our discussions.

We spend a bulk of the show going over all our favourite announcements from the Xbox Games Showcase. Enjoy and happy next generation year!
E3 may not have happened in 2020, but thanks to Devolver Digital you can explore the abandoned halls of a faux E3 to discover trailers for their upcoming games in Devolverland Expo. As promised, Jocelyn returns to Civilization VI to check out the Red Death mode and had some fun streaming VS Mode.
