Welcome to the Chasing Zest podcast!
Are you an exhausted, busy Mum who barely has time to focus on her own health and wellness needs, let alone those goals that you always dreamt about but could never quite make happen?
My name's Rachael Bruford. I'm an online health, lifestyle and running coach, Mum to a little boy, runner, and the founder of Rachael Bruford Coaching. It's my mission to empower women, spark transformation and inspire lifestyle change, both for themselves and for their families. There are no quick fixes here and I truly believe that, just as we are all unique, we also go through different seasons where our wants and needs change.
This trailer offers a glimpse of what's to come from the Chasing Zest podcast. You’ll hear weekly episodes on topics such as creating new, healthier habits as a busy Mum, letting go of perfectionism, reflecting and setting goals (yes, because news flash YOU deserve to have goals too), dealing with times of change and uncertainty, fitting in exercise and self care, and navigating your changing perception of yourself as a Mum.
I look forward to learning all about you!
In this episode, I discuss how to get or maintain motivation when it comes to health and wellness...whatever that looks like for you.
You'll learn the importance of being flexible, seeing intentions through in a series of small steps, and how a healthy life should be something that you enjoy rather than something with an end point such as losing 5kg.
We'll also look at how you can be inspired by the progress of others (rather than falling into the comparison trap) and how not to get stuck dreaming rather than doing.
Finally, I discuss how having a beginners' mindset can be a huge help, and how one day you could be the one motivating and inspiring others.
In this week's episode, I discuss the importance of going at your own pace after having a baby. The postpartum period and beyond is something that varies immensely from woman to woman. Using running as an analogy, I explain how you can focus more on you and your own unique needs rather than comparing yourself to how you used to be or to others.
Let me know your thoughts!
Today's episode is something I could go on about forever! Fear of failure, of not being good enough and of what other people might think is one of the main things that can hold us back and stop us from acting on our goals and dreams. In this episode, I discuss how we are all scared of different things, but how all fear feels the same. What's more, I give you some tips on how to move forward and through fear, especially as a Mum.
This week's podcast is a pretty personal one, all about my first year as a Mum. To be honest, I was pretty apprehensive about putting it ‘out there’, but I'm sure it will be useful to someone (and I don't have time to record another 😅).
Listen along as I reflect on what I would have done differently (mainly less googling and fretting and more being gentle with myself). If you're a new Mum, this episode is for you!
And if you're not a Mum, I hope you'll still find some valuable tips on how to deal with any challenging times that you may be currently going through.
The third episode of the Chasing Zest Podcast is a short one which will give you some easy, actionable tips to help you feel more positive and more productive when you're having a bad day or a run of bad days. As Mums, we don't really have the time for a wallow, and we often mask our own feelings and put on a positive face for the sake of our kids. These tips are simple and not time consuming, but their effect can be a real game changer in terms of having a brighter day.
Let me know how you get on!
As busy Mums, exercise (or movement, as I like to call it) is often one of those things that we end up putting to the bottom of the list, despite our good intentions. Somehow, other things just keep getting in the way, and it can be hard to make it a priority.
Here are some tips for how to fit consistent movement into your life...and why you shouldn't feel guilty if there are times when it's just not feasible.
So here we are, episode one of the Chasing Zest Podcast!
I thought I'd start with telling you a little about me; from how I started my career as a teacher before moving to Cairo, Egypt, and then to Dubai, to my struggles with understanding and implementing a nourishing diet that didn't leave me feeling horrendously foggy brained. As we'll hear, it took me a long time to realise that it was my poor diet that was responsible for so many issues.
I also talk about how I found running, began taking part in marathons and ultramarathons all over the world, and how this helped me to realise that I was so much more capable than I had previously believed.
Finally, I talk about becoming a health coach and having my son, Dylan, and how my experiences as a new mum have inspired me to help other mums who have let their own goals, needs, desires and health take a back seat.
You'll also learn how I help clients and what to expect from the first season of the Chasing Zest Podcast!
