A Family Reunion
Lucy was very excited. She was going to visit her grandmother in the countryside for the weekend. She loved her grandmother’s house. It was big and cozy, with a beautiful garden and a friendly dog. Lucy also liked to see her relatives who lived nearby. She had a lot of cousins, aunts and uncles who always came to visit when she was there.
Lucy packed her bag and waited for her father to pick her up. Her mother and brother were already in the car. They drove for two hours, listening to music and chatting. Lucy looked out of the window and saw the green fields and hills. She felt happy and relaxed.
They arrived at the grandmother’s house and were greeted by a warm hug. Lucy ran inside and saw her sister, who had come from another city. She hugged her and they started to talk. They hadn’t seen each other for a long time. They went upstairs to share a room.
Later, they had a big dinner with the whole family. Lucy enjoyed the food and the conversation. She laughed at her uncle’s jokes and listened to her aunt’s stories. She felt proud of her cousin, who had won a prize at school. She played with her nephew, who was only three years old.
After dinner, they all sat in the living room and watched a movie. Lucy snuggled with her grandmother on the sofa and felt very happy. She loved her family and she was glad to spend time with them. She thought it was the best weekend ever.

In English we do not usually say 哥哥弟弟. Oftentimes, we will say this is my brother, this is my sister. 哥哥 or older brother，弟弟 younger brother. We can also say how many siblings, how many brothers and sisters we have. I have three sisters and two brothers, two older sisters or three older sisters. I have three sisters, and two brothers.

Ex: Even after five years, the sweater looked great. She was happy she got a lot of mileage out of it.
road hog: a driver who takes up space in more than one lane one lane on a road.
Ex: She knew she would be late when she got stuck driving behind a road hog on the way to work.
get the show on the road: get started with something.
Ex:He spent the whole day packing for his trip, and now he just wanted to get the show on the road.
traffic jam: many cars stuck on a road without being able to move.
He didn't care about being stuck in the traffic jam; he was happy to listen to his new CD.
Lemon: a car( or other item) that continues to have problems even after it's been repaired many times.
Ex: He was nervous about buying a used car from stranger. "With my luck," he said, "I'll get a lemon."

In this lesson you will learn how to apply these words and phrases:
hopefully - is a word inserted to indicate your wishes that something will happen. It can come in the middle of a verb phrase, before the subject, or at the end of a sentence
Ex:
I'll hopefully graduate in two years.
Hopefully, I'll graduate in two years.
I'll graduate in two years, hopefully
a couple of - means two: however, informally, it can mean more than that - but it does indicate a small number.
Ex:
I'll see you in a couple of hours.
It only costs a couple of dollars.
He'll be home in a couple of months.
The local scene - the local scene refers to the culture and range of entertainment offered in a particular area.
Ex:
I'm moving to Springfield next month. What's the local scene like there?
To show a good time - means to make sure he or she is entertained.
Ex:
If you come to visit in December, We'll show you a good time. All our friends have parties in December!
Thanks so much - a common way of expressing appreciation. Other ways to say this are thank you very much/thanks a lot/I really appreciate this.
Ex:
Thanks so much for fixing my tire. I really appreciate it.
Thank you very much for helping us.
To be in good shape - to be fit financially, situationally, or physically.
Ex:
