The Sox strung together four solid outings in Seattle and Erick Fedde shined in Arizona over the weekend. Drew Thorpe and Jonathan Cannon impressed and Garrett Crochet is must watch TV. Besides what we're seeing at the big league level, there are pitchers in the farm system that are worthy of excitement. The Sox were swept by the Cubs in the two game crosstown series while splitting a four game series with Boston on the South Side. Martin Maldonado continues to get playing time. Pedro Grifol defends not pinch hitting for his inept catcher in the finale and what a defense it is. Will your fandom be broken if the Sox trade Crochet or Robert Jr.? John Schriffen honors Hawk? Sox fans! Our Chicago White Sox (14-33) were swept by the New York Yankees over the weekend. It was the seventh time this season that the Sox have been swept. Brad Keller was designated for assignment, Bryan Ramos landed on the IL but is on the mend and Eloy Jimenez played some right field. John Schriffen took a jab at The Score 670 and Tommy Pham is playing for his ticket out of Chicago. The Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles are on deck for the last place Chicago White Sox. Sox fans! The Chicago White Sox (8-26) took two of three from the St. Louis Cardinals after being swept by the Minnesota Twins. Tommy Pham has added a spark and prospect Bryan Ramos got the call. Will he be used sparingly or will the Sox give him a serious look while Danny Mendick battles a back issue? Garrett Crochet was solid in the finale against the Cardinals but Perdro Grifol talks about a possible move to the bullpen as his innings ramp up. Sox fans! The Chicago White Sox got their sixth win of the season after sweeping the Tampa Bay Rays out of the South Side. Sox are now (6-22) and battle the Minnesota Twins and St. Louis Cardinals in the coming week. Lots of roster moves have been made and Tommy Pham has officially joined the big league club. Andrew Benintendi unleashed the power with a pair of home runs and six RBI to help the cause against the Rays on Saturday. Chris Getz finally starts saying the things he should have said last fall and is Erick Fedde good as gone when the deadline comes. Thanks for the continued support. Go Sox.

Sox fans! Our Chicago White Sox have found new ways to embarrass themselves and this past week was beyond disappointing. The offense continues its ineptitude and the defense has reached new lows. Debuts by Nick Nastrini and Jonathan Cannon provided some rest from the bleak outlook. Lenyn Sosa has been demoted and Danny Mendick is set to join the big league club. Why is Pedro Grifol still managing the White Sox? Do you have faith that a serious managerial search will ever take place under Jerry? The Sox are historically bad and we're here to talk about it. Sox fans! The Chicago White Sox (2-13) are off to their worst start in franchise history. Over one hundred twenty years of baseball. It was ugly this past week as the Sox lost a series in Cleveland and were swept by the Cincinnati Reds on the South Side. Bad baseball has been played and the results have put the White Sox at the bottom of the entire league. Is this what Jerry Reinsdorf wanted? Can Pedro Grifol keep his job? The Sox lost Yoan Moncada to an adductor injury but are bringing Tommy Pham on board. Only 147 games left. Thank you for the continued support. Go Sox. #WhiteSox

Sox fans! The Chicago White Sox (1-8) split a rain shortened series with the Atlanta Braves and then were swept by the Kansas City Royals. The Sox are bottom of the barrel in most offensive categories including runs scored. It's not just bad, it's historically bad. The lone bright spot continues to be Garrett Crochet. Both Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert Jr. are on the injured list and we wonder where the finger should be pointed? Are the players to be blamed? The coaching staff? Both? Hey Sox fans! The Chicago White Sox (0-3) were swept by the Detroit Tigers to start off the 2024 campaign. Each loss was by one run but there were some troubling occurrences in the series. Sox struggled to get on base and were 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position. The White Sox failed to hold on to a three run lead in the 2nd game of the series then lost in extra innings. Luis Robert Jr. hit two home runs but Eloy Jimenez came up short in two critical moments then injured himself in the series finale. Sox received a few arms that might be ready to help out this season. Sox fans! Our Chicago White Sox are (4-11) in Cactus League play and have the worst run differential (-36) in all of Spring Training. It's the just the spring though, right? Oscar Colas was one of the dozen cuts made by the White Sox. What percentage of miles per hour does Pedro Grifol want from him moving forward? Ex Royals pitcher, Brad Keller, was signed by the White Sox to a minor league deal. Can the Sox adopt an old KC logo for the 2024 season? The Chicago White Sox are (3-8) during Cactus League play. So far, the offense has been inept however Eloy Jimenez and Yoan Moncada have been bright spots. Moncada has mentioned to Pedro Grifol that he would like to bat 2nd this season. Grifol said that Moncada is one of the best bunters on the team. Dylan Cease, Michael Kopech and Garrett Crochet saw action this past week. Crochet has impressed, striking our Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout. Grifol continues to talk about indefinable qualities and a certain type of baseball he wants to play but the specifics are lacking. Hey Sox fans! Welcome back to Good Guys Talk Back. The Sox traded away Gregory Santos and Cristian Mena to the Seattle Mariners and Baltimore Orioles, respectively. Santos could very well have been the Sox closer in 2024 and Mena was a well thought of pitching prospect. The Sox got some much needed outfield depth in return. It seems like a vision of better situational hitting is shared by both Getz and Thames. Tony La Russa is still around in an advisory role and are the Sox listening to offers on Dylan Cease? Mike Clevinger declined his option with the team and the Sox said thank you to Elvis Andrus and Yasmani Grandal. Dan Plesac from the MLB Network called the White Sox a sleeping giant in 2024 and Chris Getz talked about everything that needs to be done to get the Sox back on track. The Rangers are the World Series champs but it's doubtful that the Sox will be able to copy that script. The offseason is underway and we now wait to see what direction the team heads in.

Hey Sox fans! Welcome back to Good Guys Talk Back. Ever since Pedro Grifol was hired back in November of 2022, the Kansas City Royals/Chicago White Sox connections have continued to develop and the latest rumor oozes Royals blue. According to sources, the White Sox may pursue Salvador Perez and/or Whit Merrifield this offseason. Perez is not a free agent and is owed a considerable amount of money. Merrfield, on the other hand, has a club option. Perez and Grifol have a solid relationship and the Sox may see the services of Perez necessary to reconfigure the culture and chemistry in the clubhouse. Merrifield can play the outfield as well as second base and is durable. The acquisition of Perez or Merrifield do not make the Sox a contending team in 2024 however it further galvanizes the confusing desire for the Sox to mimic the Royals of yesteryear. The White Sox have numerous question marks in the coaching department and on the roster.... advice to Sox fans is to look to Kansas City. Thank you for the continued support, Go Sox.

The Chicago White Sox finished the season (61-101) and it was just the 5th time in franchise history that the Sox lost 100 games. We heard from the executives this past week and got a sense of what the focus might be as the offseason begins. Luis Robert Jr. finished the year on the injured list and Yoan Moncada finished things on a high note. The Sox have several question marks in terms of roster spots. What to do with Tim Anderson and Liam Hendriks is also a focal point. If the Sox are to be contenders in 2024, a deep dive will definitely be needed by Chris Getz and his team but the writing is probably already on the wall for 2024. Since the last episode, they lost a series to the Orioles, were swept by the Tigers and were embarrassed by the Royals. The inevitable also happened, Chris Getz became the new senior vice president and general manager of the White Sox. Jerry Reinsdorf spoke at the press conference and basically explained that a real search could have been done to find an outside hire but, "Hey, we gotta guy inside the organization and why not just go with him." Getz stated that Pedro Grifol is safe and that thigs will be different under his leadership. Both Jerry and Chris also pointed out that since the Sox play in the AL Central, getting back on track in 2024 is plausible. Hey Sox fans. Welcome back to Good Guys Talk Back. Nick and Pat discuss the week that was for our Chicago White Sox (31-42). The Sox had a losing week in LA and Seattle. They have lost three series in a row and are a disappointing eleven games under .500 but only five and a half out in the forgiving AL Central. Lance Lynn struck out 16 batters in the Seattle finale and went seven innings but the offense did not show up. The Sox just can't put everything together for a sustainable period. More injuries to report as Yoan Moncada and Mike Clevinger went on the injured list. Tim Anderson left Game 2 of the Seattle series early and did not play on Sunday. The door was open for Zach Remillard to make his major league debut and he made the most of the opportunity. Jake Burger struggled against the Mariners but hitting 8th in the order is tough to justify. Pedro Grifol was asked about the lineup construction and said, "I’m going to put the lineup out there I think is going to help us win ... I don’t have to answer those people [who don't like the lineup]. He’s in the lineup, he’s going to get four at-bats, help us win. Other than that, they can talk to Jerry". White Sox baseball.

Hey Sox fans! Welcome back to Good Guys Talk Back. Sox went (3-3) against the New York Yankees and Miami Marlins this past week. White Sox are (6-3) in the month of June and are (29-38) on the season. The forgiving AL Central continues to keep the White Sox afloat. White Sox had a lead entering the 9th inning in Game 2 of the Marlins series and Joe Kelly completely imploded. Tim Anderson committed another error in a critical situation to make matters worse. In the series finale, Kenyan Middleton and Kendall Graveman let a four run lead evaporate in the 8th and 9th innings. White Sox starting pitching was a bright spot in the Marlins series. Eighteen innings from Dylan Cease, Michael Kopech and Lucas Giolito while only giving up two earned runs. The White Sox now head out west to face the Los Angeles Dodgers and Seattle Mariners. Hey Sox fans, welcome back to Good Guys Talk Back. Our Chicago White Sox had a (5-1) homestand against the Cleveland Guardians and Kansas City Royals. The Sox capped off their first sweep of the season by beating the Royals, 5-2, on Sunday. The Sox bullpen has been virtually unhittable as of late. Joe Kelly has been absolutely dominant. The starting staff as come around as well and Michael Kopech's outing this past Friday against the Royals was a masterpiece. 8 innings, 10 strikeouts, 1 hit, 0 walks. The Sox lived by the home run earlier in the week but got away from it and survived with some production with runners in scoring position, getting big hits from Jake Burger and Romy Gonzalez over the weekend. For the first time all season, the Sox managed to win back-to-back games earlier in the week, and now the Sox have won back-to-back series. Sox put an exclamation mark on the week by beating the Cincinnati Reds in convincing fashion in the series finale, 17-4. It was a positive response from the Sox as they will not have the services of Eloy Jimenez for the foreseeable future. Jimenez had an appendectomy before Game 2 of the Cincinnati series. The Sox are (12-23) and are 7 games back in the AL Central. Playing in Kansas City has been a problem as of late for the White Sox. Can former Royals bench coach, Pedro Grifol, get his team properly prepared to not only play well in KC but have some success? The ten game losing streak was snapped on Sunday thanks to an Andrew Vaughn walk off home run. The Sox are (8-21) and nine games back in the Central. Was April really a result of the Sox just playing tough opponents or a result of being a unprepared, lazy, fundamentally weak and poor producing team? Luis Robert, Jr. was pulled from a game because he didn't run out a groundball then blamed his lapse on a tight hamstring that he told no one about before the game. The next day, LRJ did not start the game but came in to pinch hit during a critical moment, with sloppy field conditions. Interesting. There is organizational rot within the White Sox and aside from an ownership change, things will continue to be problematic. Let in burn or hope for a miracle?

Dylan Cease was magnificent on Opening Day. Lynn, Giolito and Clevinger all held their own but failed to get through the 6th. Sox bullpen was shaky for most of the series, blowing a 3-0 lead in Game 2 of the series. Sox racked up a lot of hits but were terrible at converting with runners in scoring position. Hey Sox fans! Nick and Pat are back, talking all things Chicago White Sox. Nick just returned from Glendale, AZ and reports on action from White Sox camp. Oscar Colas, Andrew Vaughn, Yasmani Grandal and Elvis Andrus have gotten off to a good start offensively. Grandal looks to have his legs under him and the bat is definitely producing some pop. Colas looks to be the clear front runner for the starting right field position. Pedro Grifol is running his first camp as big league manager and creating a culture is of utmost importance. Grifol seems to be running a player-directed and manager-facilitated camp. MLB has ended their investigation and Mike Clevinger will not be suspended. General manager, Rick Hahn, pleaded for patience and tried to empathize with fans while owner Jerry Reinsdorf tried his hand at comedy. Clevinger seems to be a reclamation project for pitching coach Ethan Katz to get his hands on. It's a low risk move that will hopefully allow the White Sox to fill their other needs. Hey, Sox fans. During the past week, our White Sox won two of three from the Toronto Blue Jays but lost three of four to the Baltimore Orioles. What could go wrong, has gone wrong for the White Sox and the frustration from the fans has reached a boiling point as "Fire Tony" chants rang out loud and clear this past weekend. Jake Burger has stayed hot and has made the most of his time in the lineup. Danny Mendick has continued to play well, too. The White Sox have lacked a consistent run of putting everything together. Hey Sox fans, after a horrible trip in Toronto, the Chicago White Sox took two of three from the Tampa Bay Rays and find themselves two games under .500 as they head back to the South Side to play the Los Angeles Dodgers and Texas Rangers. Maximizing their time on the field, the White Sox got production from Danny Mendick and Jake Burger in big ways. Andrew Vaughn continues to be a bright spot and Liam Hendriks looked outstanding, earning his 16th save in the series finale. When will Sox fans see some consistency from this 2022 team? During this stretch, the Sox have flipped the script as their pitching as well as defense have been outstanding. Sox bullpen gave up one earned run during the weekend series against Boston. Hey Sox fans, just recently the White Sox were ranked #3 in MLB latest power rankings. The Sox starting pitching have held strong, sporting a league best 2.68 ERA. Dylan Cease and Michael Kopech have been great so far as the Sox offense tries to wake up. If you are not hitting the ball out of the ballpark or relying on typical power numbers, than you need to get creative to score runs. After an intense and emotional Game 3 win at home, the Sox fell completely flat in Game 4 and were bounced from the ALDS. Houston seemed to take advantage of every single gift the White Sox presented. Out managed? Possibly. Out played? Definitely. Aside from Game 3, the Sox were lifeless offensively and did not put a consistent pitching performance together. There were some bright spots during this series and many positive moments from the 2021 season that can be built upon in the offseason. Our first place White Sox took 2 of 3 this weekend and 5 of 6 on the year from our neighbors to the North. Dallas Keuchel and Lance Lynn struggled but the real story was the return of Yasmani Grandal to the already potent Sox lineup. Yaz did not disappoint nor did the Sox offense, scoring 30 runs in the series. The Sox managed to get their lead over Cleveland to double digits as they have a day off before welcoming the Pirates to the South Side. It was a good weekend and a good time to be a Sox fan.

The Sox went (3-4) on their most recent road trip and went (7-7) during a challenging stretch that featured: NYY, OAK, TB and TOR.
