Luis is a powerful leader of leaders. He started off wanting to be a professional baseball player but injuries shifted his focus to becoming a lawyer. One day, a judge invited him to do an internship, and that changed his life. Luis also had a mentor who taught him that leaders are readers and encouraged him to read 52 books in 52 weeks, which he completed, and it helped him develop discipline and perseverance. Luis went on to become managing partner of a law firm, started his own firm, and now has a law firm with almost 200 employees and a consulting business that is helping 100 law firms around the country. In this episode of Principles with Cory and Logan we talk about the phases of growth.
As you read the book of Genesis chapters 37-50 you see this young man by the name of Joseph. He's 17 years old and he has this call on his life to do something great. He probably felt it at an early age and had some kind of internal knowing. Those of you who have a calling on your life you know exactly what I'm talking about. There's this burning desire somewhere deep down inside of you, something deep down in there that says you were made for greatness. Well, Joseph has this on his life and begins to have some dreams of leadership, in particularly leading his family. But because of his arrogance and immaturity he begins to let his older brothers and family know about this dream. His older brothers being jealous of him decided to just get rid of him by throwing him into a pit then selling him into slavery.
It took another 13 years in slavery, in prison, going through trials, disappointments, and accusations before he stood before Pharaoh in the palace and ultimately becoming 2nd in command where his dream was finally fulfilled. But between the pit and the palace was the process.
The Process is what matured and developed this young immature man into a wise leader on the worlds stage.
We tend to want to skip the process and microwave our way to the dream, but the microwaved process has no staying power because the strength of character is not developed. That only comes through the process.
It's in the testing and trials of life that the depth of our character is truly revealed. So what is the process of growth. You can check out the video for more in depth explanation but here are the 4 phases of growth: 1. I don't know what I don't know. 2. I know what I don't know. 3. I know and grow and it starts to show. 4. I simply go because I know.

Make each person you talk to feel like they’re the most important person in the room.
Know your vision and clearly articulate it.
Find and hire good people. If you have a big dream then you better have a big team. You simply will never achieve a number 10 size dream with a number 4 size team.
Make the commitment. Go all in on your dream. Von Goethe says, “ until one is committed there is hesitancy a chance to draw back.''
The buck stops here. Everything rises and falls on leadership.
Don’t compete…CREATE. Wherever your focus goes, that is where your energy will flow.
Commit to your growth. As a leader and entrepreneur you must make the commitment to your growth and development. Put a ring on it.

The lazy man never seeks wisdom. At what age are we no longer influenced by those we associate with? ALWAYS. Many of our problems can be traced back to relationships with the wrong people. Guard your associations with other people, anytime you associate with mediocrity you become comfortable and tolerate mediocrity in your own life. If a lazy man isn't an irritation to you it may mean you're becoming slothful yourself. Only a fool refuses the counsel of wise men. Find a wise man and listen to his words. Serving is a way to place value on others. Do battle with the challenges of the present and you will unlock the prizes of your future. I WILL SEEK WISDOM.- knowing wisdom waits to be gathered, I will seek her out. No longer will I bombard my mind with material that affects negativity. God gives us opportunities to move mountains. If I choose to associate with chickens I'll learn to scratch and squabble over crumbs. If I choose to associate with eagles I'll learn to soar to great heights. The words of a wise man are like rain drops on dry ground. When I counsel with just myself I counsel with what I already know, by counseling with a wise man I add his knowledge and experience to my own. He who serves the most grows the fastest. I will not look for someone to open my door but I'll look to open the door for others. I'll listen to wise counsel. Only the diligent find wisdom, the lazy don't even search.
Another thought we discussed in this episode is: MOST PEOPLE HAVE A COMMON CONDITION IN THAT THEY HEAR BUT DO NOT LISTEN.
What we allow into our eyes and ears plays a huge role in how we believe and shapes our wisdom. Those we hang out with also play a role. Here are just a few questions you may ask yourself as it relates to wisdom as well 1. THE ASSOCIATIONS YOU HANG OUT WITH: WHAT ARE THEY ADDING TO YOU? 2. WHAT ARE THEY SUBTRACTING FROM YOU? 3. WHO DO YOU NEED TO SPEND MORE TIME? 4. WHO DO YOU NEED TO SPEND LESS TIME?

The focus of this chapter is on righteousness or right relations in all areas of life. Also, check out what we are supposed to hold back- our criticism and our slander and what we are to share- our stuff. We however, tend to get this twisted and share our criticism and hold back our stuff.
My favorite verses in this chapter: 1. To set high standards for someone else, and then not live up to them yourself is something that God truly hates. But it pleases Him when we apply the right standards of measurement.

Day 10- Words and Wealth Chapters 1 -9 of Proverbs has almost been like a conversation between a father and a child with the father instructing the child. In chapter 10 and going forward we get into the 2 line sayings and short sayings that Proverbs is none for and these dudes pack a punch!
As you read through chapter 10 there are 2 main themes to notice: wealth and words. Notice how scripture says wealth is gained and lost. Also, notice how the words we use can either bring life and create good or they can bring disaster or "like a rod beating others on the backside."
ACTION- Assess scriptures view of both words and wealth.........what are your thoughts as it pertains to your words and your thoughts around wealth......are there any gaps between the what scripture says and your view?

Lady Wisdom makes her call and invitation in the first 6 verses and the adulterous woman makes her call and invitation in the last 6 verses, but sandwhiched right in between in a 6 verse section that talks about the key to making wise choices. - HUMILITY.

Starting out in chapter 8 wisdom calls out from the mountain of influence or from above, but it is not hard to find because it is found on the street level if we will only listen. The great thing is, we do not need to be super intelligent or smart only a tender heart.
As you go through your day are you attempting to go at it alone or are you engaging THE HOLY SPIRIT in your decision making?

"Home Wrecker" PG-13 In Chapter 5 we are introduced to that ole home wrecker the adulterous woman. In the commentary in my Bible it says that the adulterous woman can also represent the religious spirit that attempts to seduce us, weaken our message, and rob the anointing God from our ministries.
There is a great warning here in Chapter 5 and this weakness has brought down many might men and typically it is a slow fade. In the book Think and Grow Rich it talks about this sex drive and desire as well that this drive is one of the strongest forms of energy. This drive is a gift given to us to be used within the confines of marriage, but many are unable to gain self control and use this energy in an unhealthy manner. In the book TAGR he mentions that we can transmute that energy from the physical expression or an unhealthy use of energy into a creative form. No matter the desire is in us and it is a gift from a good good Father and He is glorified when we express it as He designed it.
I pray for blessing over you and your marriage that your home will be filled with love and passion for you spouse. That you home will be a refuge filled with love. The Lord bless you and your entire family.

Proverbs teaches us really how to LIVE THAT GOOD LIFE. In chapter 4 we see 2 different paths. The path of righteousness and the path of the flesh. At the very end of Proverbs 4 he makes the statement "watch where you are going."
From coaching and training many different people one of the things I've come to realize is that most people have no idea where they are going or even where they want to go in life. Press in to The Lord and get a vision for your life. Otherwise we end up like the majority of people who just coast, float, and drift through life.
One challenge to you as you read this chapter......personalize it. its easy to read and not put yourself in the story or put yourself in the promises of God. Read through Chapter 4 and put your name or I, or Me, into each promise and sentence.
ACTION STEP-Read through God's word and find what it says about you and come up with some I AM STATEMENTS. Write them out and read them aloud daily.

In chapter 3 we continue to view it as a father speaking to a child and in this chapter we see a poem by LADY WISDOM and I love how wisdom is described as a lady because just like women want to be pursued....so does wisdom. As we jump into chapter 3 the father moves into really encouraging the child to look at and to assess his character.
Starting in vs. 9 we see a challenge and a promise that is throughout scripture and it relates to tithing and giving the first and very best to THE LORD......so our challenge and ACTION STEP for today is to assess you tithing habit. Do you have one? what are your thoughts around tithing? What are your thoughts around money and wealth in general?

"How Bad Do You Want It?" Chapter 2 starts off with a question: Will you treasure my wisdom? Wisdom cries out and calls out, but the question is will you and I take care of the word given to us from The Lord? Will we treasure his revelation knowledge that comes through His scripture as well as when He speaks directly to us. In the first half of Chapter 2 Solomon mentions 5 things: 1. Will you treasure wisdom? 2. Train your heart to listen and hear The Lords voice 3. Discern with The Spirit 4. Cry out for comprehension, pray for insight, must have this internal hunger and thirst for The true Wisdom and revelation knowledge that comes from THE LORD. 5. Search diligently for wisdom, no matter the cost.
ACTION: How committed to seeking out wisdom are you? There are all kinds of promises but we must be committed so for you personally on a scale of 0-10 how committed are you?

We can take a look around and we know that the world is in need of a lot of different things but one thing it is definitely in need of is.....WISDOM. Proverbs was written primarily by King Solomon with a few other contributors but the word Proverb in Hebrew has two meanings. The first is what we typically think of when we think of a proverb- a parable or wise saying, but the other definition of the Hebrew word for proverb is a homonym meaning- to rule or to reign or to take dominion.
In verse 7 it states that the very beginning, the starting point, the starting line of gaining wisdom is the awe and reverential awe of THE LORD (fear). Oswald Chambers said the remarkable thing about fearing God is that when you fear God, you fear nothing else, whereas if you do not fear God, you fear everything else.
ACTION STEP- if the fear of THE LORD is the starting point of wisdom and of blessings then our very first step is to assess our personal view of God. So when you think about God what is the first thing that comes to mind? You CAN NOT SKIP THIS STEP.

Sometimes Christians will say, Well, God is in control of everything. And I'm telling you, God is sovereign, and God is powerful. But we have a responsibility within his sovereignty. We have The responsibility to choose and to create, not everything that happens in your life is God's best. You have the ability to choose and to make choices. God is sovereign God is powerful. There still is personal responsibility.
we have incredible responsibility within the umbrella of God's sovereignty. God has a plan for your life. God has a purpose for your life. God has incredible dreams for us. But we have to decide we have to choose today. If we're going to step into those. My prayer is that this that this study that through Legacy Builders and leaders are readers book club, that the messages from Think and Grow Rich would be used in the timing of God in your life, to bring about a very real result in some tangible decisions and next steps. Nicholas is a Communications Specialist with the Joint Force HQ Unit. Nicholas just made the leap into entrepreneurship, but the entrepreneurial bug was within him since he was a child. Early in life he raked leaves for neighbors and mowed yards and when considering opening his own business Nicholas said "it only makes sense since I am a hustler." He shares with us a key principle that has helped him in the early phase of his business. "Go to war with yourself." If we depend on our emotions to make decisions and take action then we may never reach our goals. Emotions are fickle. Go to war with yourself and be dedicated to the vision.

"Until your thought is linked with purpose," he says, "There's no intelligent accomplishment."
So you think about that, until your thinking is really linked to a specific purpose, there's no intelligent accomplishment. He's really saying until our thought is linked with a specific purpose, there's nothing new. There's no new accomplishment, there's no new creation. And really that's the purpose of thought, right? Thought is the creative power, it is how we create our lives, it's the whole purpose of the book, 'As a Man Thinketh' and his life. It is the creative power.
For most people, most people are probably searching for their purpose, and I always encourage people that before they start a program or a study, or if im doing a training with a team to really think, "What is the purpose?" what's your purpose for being here. To link your thought to that purpose allows there to be a filter to your thinking. And that's really what our pursuing of what our purpose is, is our purpose serves as a filter through which we make our decisions and through which we think.
I've actually just now started doing this at church. Before the service begins Ill seek The Holy Spirits guidance but ask whats my purpose for being here today, what do I need to hear and get from today.
And I think, when I think about that intelligent accomplishment it makes me think… well what do you want to achieve? Because if you know what you want to achieve, you got a better chance of achieving it. Right? And if you don't know what you want to achieve, you're just going to do whatever your emotions what to do at that particular time. So if you haven't got a purpose, then you're just going to do whatever you feel like. Your thoughts are going to be- Sporadic

Dry bones hear the word of The Lord. There's a song out by Elevation Worship called "RATTLE!" with that line in it and The Word from THE LORD we need to hear now is dry bones come A.L.I.V.E. AWARENESS- Increase our awareness. Instead of coasting, drifting, and floating take an active look into our habits and actions. Our actions produce our results and our actions will never produce something in opposition to it. Just as a seed of corn will never produce an apple. But the awareness is in taking each thought captive. LOVE UNCONDITIONALLY-We tend to "like" others with conditions. We are called to move beyond that and love unconditionally. Society puts us into groups and pits an us vs. them mentality. Instead of have just two option: us or them there is a third option: love unconditionally by seeing the thumb print of their Creator on each person. We all have been created in the image of God. INTENTIONALLY LIVE EACH DAY-Just for today focus on the things that matter and make each day your masterpiece. We can only give 100% today and 100% tomorrow, we can not say I'll give 70% today and make it up tomorrow and give 130%....we only have 100% so live this day with intention. VASTLY DIFFERENTIATE YOURSELF FROM THE HERD- You are unique, you are gifted, and you are talented. Recognize your unique giftedness that you offer this world, act on those gifts and ideas, and use them to serve other. ENERGIZED-live with passion and purpose. You were created on purpose with a purpose and woke up this morning for a purpose.

That's pretty good, but the way I define it is: becoming the type of person others willfully follow because of who you are and what you represent.

In this episode of Principles with Cory and Logan we interview entrepreneur and author Derek Stone.
For years Derek Stone had dreams of becoming a musician. This road didn’t lead him to success, however, it led him to Nashville, TN. Struggling to live as a starving artist with a family to feed, it was then he thought “there’s got to be a better way.” He went through an early life crisis, changing careers with the help of mentors and watching YouTube. He took his God-given talent of Creativity and transferred it from being something you hear to something that you can see. As it turned out, the construction industry was his road to success, the “better way” he had longed for. In three short years, he grew a small one-man show into a company with $1.2 million in gross revenue. He credits his success to one decision as a senior in high school. He started looking back at his life to figure out what made him so different from his three siblings. The difference. . . he chose to forgive his dad and to take a different path than his parents. He blamed his dad for every bad thing he went through as a child: from being sexually abused and going hungry, to taking cold showers because the power got cut off. He was a bitter teenager and wanted a better life, so when the opportunity presented itself, he took it and chose forgiveness.
36 years since the beginning of his story and he is currently living his best life. He enjoys hunting, fishing, knife making, and hanging out with his family. He loves empowering people to re-tool and change their lives. He loves God, loves his family, and loves people. In this episode you will learn:
