In response to the Parkland shooting in February 2018, many students have taken a stand and spoken out about the need for stricter gun laws and other measures to reduce gun violence. The NRA has come under fire as well, with many questioning why they continue to have so much influence over politicians and whether their money has anything to do with it. This podcast examines gun violence in America today, what may be fueling it, what we know about its effects on society and possible solutions that may help reduce it in the future.

Is Racism Alive and Well in the world

The first thing to understand in this discussion is that there is only one race—the human race. Caucasians, Africans, Black, Hispanic, Americans, Asians, Indians, Arabs, and Jews are not different races. Rather, they are different ethnicities of the human race. All human beings have the same physical characteristics (with minor variations, of course). More importantly, all human beings are created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26–27). God loved the world so much that He sent Jesus to lay down His life for us (John 3:16). The “world” obviously includes all ethnic groups. Racism. Or ethno-nationalist. Which is the polite way to call someone a racist Racism is based on ignorance, stereotyping and learned hatred. There is no doubt in my mind that we need to find a healthy solution to end racism When speaking of persons, a race can be defined as a variety of humankind that is distinguishable by certain physical attributes, such as color of skin and eyes, stature, bodily proportions, and the like. The term is closely related to ethnicity, a word that is also used to categorize people into groups, as distinguished by customs, language, characteristics, and group history. Racism involves discriminating among or against persons based on the belief that one race is superior to another or that members of the various races must avoid certain forms of interrelationship with each other. Understood thus, racism can be numbered with other sins of injustice, such as sexism, xenophobia, and other forms of prejudice we need to our own attitudes and opinions about those of a different race. Before stereotyping people, stop and think what our stereotyping is doing to our world today. And to our children for tomorrow. God does not show partiality or favoritism (Deuteronomy 10:17; Acts 10:34; Romans 2:11; Ephesians 6:9), and neither should we. James 2:4 describes those who discriminate as “judges with evil thoughts.” Instead, we are to love our neighbors as ourselves (James 2:8). In the Old Testament, God divided humanity into two “racial” groups: Jews and Gentiles. God’s intent was for the Jews to be a kingdom of priests, ministering to the Gentile nations. Instead, for the most part, the Jews became proud of their status and despised the Gentiles. Jesus Christ put an end to this, destroying the dividing wall of hostility (Ephesians 2:14). All forms of racism, prejudice, and discrimination are outrage or offenses to the work of Christ on the cross. Think about it. Jesus commands us to love one another as He loves us (John 13:34). If God is impartial and loves us with impartiality, then we need to love others with that same high standard. Jesus teaches in Matthew 25 that whatever we do to the least of His brothers, we do to Him. If we treat a person with contempt, we are mistreating a person created in God’s image; we are hurting somebody whom God loves and for whom Jesus died. Racism, in varying forms and to various degrees, has been a plague on humanity for thousands of years. Brothers and sisters of all ethnicities, this should not be. Victims of racism, prejudice, and discrimination need to forgive. Ephesians 4:32 declares, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Racists may not deserve your forgiveness, but we deserved God’s forgiveness far less. Those who practice racism, prejudice, and discrimination need to repent. “Present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God” (Romans 6:13). May Galatians 3:28 be completely realized, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

[1] Jeremiah, D. (2005). God, I Need Some Answers: Life Lessons from the Psalms (Study Guide) (pp. 116–120). San Diego: Thomas Nelson Publishers

David spoke about trouble in the famous 27th Psalm. When he wrote this, he was probably running from Saul in fear. Some have suggested that he may have written it when Absalom, his son, committed treason against his own father. Whenever it was written, we do know the 27th Psalm is the personal testimony of a man who is in trouble. Despite the many moods reflected in this psalm, it is quite evident the psalmist knew what to do when trouble visited his life. We shouldn’t be surprised if, on occasion, it visits our lives, too. This deeply spiritual psalm is easily divided into two sections. Verses 1–6 give the psalmist’s testimony of how he dealt with fear and trouble. Then, almost as an illustration for us, verses 7–14 are a prayer David prayed when he was in trouble. Look at Psalms of David Psalm 27 King James Version (KJV)

27 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore, will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.

7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me and answer me.

8 When thou sadist, seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.

9 Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.

11 Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.

12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. King James Version (KJV) Public Domain

DEPRESSSION AND ANXIETY YOU AND I WE ARE NOT ALONE

Lets’ thank God for taking care of us and loving us even when we can't feel it or see it.

Clinical depression is a physical condition that must be diagnosed by a physician. It may not be caused by unfortunate life circumstances, nor can the symptoms be alleviated by one's own will. Contrary to what some in the Christian community believe, clinical depression is not always caused by sin. Depression can sometimes be caused by a physical disorder that needs to be treated with medication and/or counseling. Of course, God is able to cure any disease or disorder. However, in some cases, seeing a doctor for depression is no different than seeing a doctor for an injury.

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 1 John 5:14 KJV

Proverbs 12:25 mentions depression directly, "Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad" (NKJV). That's a good place to begin. In this little couplet God, via the wisdom of Solomon, provides both a diagnosis and prescription that can help people grow beyond depression. A heart full of anxiety is the culprit. Jesus said:

"Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light".

Matthew 11:28-30

BIBLE FIGUES THAT MAY HAVE EXPERIENCE DEPRESSION ASND ANXIETY

Jonah was angry and wanted to run away.

“Now O Lord, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live.” Jonah 4:3

And even after God reached out to Jonah again with great compassion, he responded, “…I am angry enough to die.” Jonah 4:9

Job suffered through great loss, devastation, and physical illness. “Are you still holding on to your integrity? Curse God and die!” Job 2:9

“Why did I not perish at birth, and die as I came from the womb?” Job 3:11

“I have no peace, no quietness, I have no rest, but only turmoil.” Job 3:26

“I loathe my very life, therefore I will give free rein to my complaint and speak out in the bitterness of my soul.” Job 10:1

“Terrors overwhelm me…my life ebbs away, days of suffering grip me. Night pierces my bones, my gnawing pains never rest.” Job 30:15-17

Moses was grieved over the sin of his people.

“But now, please forgive their sin – but if not, then blot me out of the book you have written.” Ex. 32:32

Jeremiah wrestled with great loneliness, feelings of defeat, and insecurity.

“Cursed be the day I was born…why did I ever come out of the womb to see trouble and sorrow and to end my days in shame?” Jer. 20:14,18

Morals in America have been on the down-cline for more than 20 years. Today we read of sex scandals from Catholic Priest, Government officials, actors one right after another. Parents afraid of their children Presbyterian Churches are considering, embracing gays as Ministers, Episcopalian Church accepts gays as Priest, and will vote on making Bishops out of them, Music has gone downhill with, cursing, vulgarity and even the movies of today are not worth watching. That’s why I recommend pure fix or hallmark and dove channels Take a look at 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 13 For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15 It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve. Are we embracing a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah Colorado lawmakers recently introduced HB19-1032, a bill "concerning comprehensive sexuality education" that increases grants to schools to provide human sexuality instruction. Titled "The Youth Wellness Act," it specifies that the "relational or sexual experiences" of LGBT-identified individuals must be included in sexuality education. Educators must also "promote youth understanding of sexual activity, sexuality, and sexual orientation as a normal part of human development. “This Colorado Bill Would Force Schools to Teach Homosexuality and Transgenderism It appears that these things are being forced on not only Christian but everyone or anyone that doesn’t agree or support this issue. Presbyterian Churches are considering, embracing gays as Ministers, Episcopalian Church accepts gays as Priest, and will vote on making Bishops out of them, Music has gone downhill with, cursing, vulgarity and even the movies of today are not worth watching. That’s why I recommend pure flix or hallmark and the dove channels Even some of the news programs have gone the way of more entertainment for adults than reporting the news.

Children’s books are coming out embracing the idea that homo-sexuality is good. Television shows being broadcast that shows girls trying to find out who the father of their baby is and laughing about it. “O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” So, what are we surrounded by today? Adulteries, Fornications, Murders, Thieves, Covetousness, Wickedness, Deceit, Boasters, Pride, Blasphemers, Unthankful, Unholy, Lasciviousness, an Evil eye, & Foolishness. In Phi 3:2 the Word of God warns us to Watch out for those dogs, those people who do evil, those mutilators who say you must be circumcised to be saved. I know the nay -Sayers will come out of the wood work and off the wall so be it I will just continue to pray for them: We need to get back to Christ, we as Christian children of God need to stand firm and be not afraid nor ashamed: Willie T. 2 Timothy 1:7 New King James Version (NKJV) 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. God does not create a person with homosexual desires. The Bible tells us that people become homosexuals because of sin (Romans 1:24-27) and ultimately because of their own choice.

Abortion Your Body But My Life Not Given a Chance To Live

May 3rd, 2018

TOPIC ON ABORTION- THEY CAN NOT SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES

I was asked to research and share this on abortion

When the humanistic leaders of society justify the murder of unborn children, Christians should remember the standard raised in Isaiah 8:20: ‘To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.’ Believers must stand against those defending abortion, for Scripture makes it clear that God hates ‘hands that shed innocent blood’ (Prov. 6:20)” (American Revivalist, May 1989, pp. 2, 3).

From Latin abortio, “miscarriage,” the term is used in two senses:

1. A spontaneous abortion is the act of miscarriage or producing a child before the natural time, with the loss of its life.

2. A forced abortion is the deliberate expulsion of an unborn child from the womb, thus depriving it of its life.

The Scriptures also portray the child in the womb as one who can move (Gen. 25:22), respond to noises from the outside (Luke 1:41, 44), and be filled with the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:15). The weight of this Scriptural evidence indicates that God considers the unborn child a person and that therefore the child’s life should be protected as other people’s lives are protected. However, even an unborn child has no inherent right to kill. ‘Thou shalt not kill’ (Exod. 20:13) applies to it as to everyone else. Thus, historic Protestant theology recognizes that a woman may obtain an abortion only if her unborn child is actually killing her.

New International Version Psalm 82:3

Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.

The Bible never specifically addresses the issue of abortion. However, there are numerous teachings in Scripture that make it abundantly clear what God’s view of abortion is. Jeremiah 1:5 tells us that God knows us before He forms us in the womb. Psalm 139:13-16 speaks of God’s active role in our creation and formation in the womb. Exodus 21:22-25 prescribes the same penalty—death—for someone who causes the death of a baby in the womb as for someone who commits murder. This clearly indicates that God considers a baby in the womb to be as human as a full-grown adult. For the Christian, abortion is not a matter of a woman’s right to choose. It is a matter of the life or death of a human being made in God’s image (Genesis 1:26-27). 26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
