Society has a default to use institutions as a default for change. America is rejecting the industry and system of church while Christians have clung onto it as an agency of uplift. This dependency towards religious activity and utopian ideas has put the freedom we have in Christ in someone else’s hands or worse in our own. In no case when freedom has been outsourced toward a system or a person has it worked or been achieved. You cannot give up agency in this manner and gain freedom. Yet, it's freedom we have been given in Christ. The life of Good news starts in Christ, but the question we will have to answer as his children is this, "In light of this grace how shall we live in this freedom we have been given?"

What does it mean to walk as a disicple? John speaks of a life of faith, hop, and love verses a life on making, measuring, and managing.
The truth about religion and systems are something we often do not think about. In the mess of our consumerism and religious systems we sometimes forget there are people and they have families, wives, husbands, and children. today I read the testimony of a broken Pastor and how the system failed him over standards those in charge can't even live up to.
As we approach the election season it is best to remember the church is not in the business of moral theology nor is it in the business of fixing things. "While we were sinners Christ died for us." This means all people. The whole world. Beware of a message where grace is contingent on law and a place of moral high ground excluding the least, the last, and the lost. Jesus won by loosing.
We delude ourselves by thinking that our salvation can be achieved by keeping the books on others. We delude ourselves into thinking we are somehow less lost. We best not get to a place where we take a religious audit less we forget about the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector.
Jesus came to call sinners, not the pseudo-righteous; he came to raise the dead, not to buy drinks for the marginally alive.
