Here's the list:
- Shein - this one I've been saying wrong. I've always pronounced it as 'sheen' whereas the correct pronunciation is 'she-in'
- Nutella - another one I've been saying wrong. Apparently its not 'nuh-tella' its 'NEW-tella'. I've been turning that U into the schwa.
- Aldi - I generally say it as 'ALL-DEE' not the 'Al-Dee' its mean't to be.
- Ikea - I used to say 'eye-key-uh' until the TV adverts came out with the pronunciation guide of 'Ee-kay-uh'
- Nike - The correct pronunciation is 'Ni-Key' not rhyming with bike. I'm pretty sure I use both.
- Adidas - Say it as "Add-dee-dass" not 'er-dee-dus'
- Porsche - A lot of people pronounce this as 'porsh'. , but its two syllables : Por-shuh
- Primark - Apparently some people say this as PREE-mark. But the way I've always heard it said (which is the correct way) is PRY-mark.
- Adobe - not 'A-dobe' but 'Uh-doe-bee'
- Hua Wei - correct pronunciation is WAH-WAY not 'her-wah way'

Here's a quick tip that can help saying some of these words a little easier:
- find the r in the word. E.g LITERALLY
- look for the consonant that precedes it - in ‘literally’ it’s the T
- eliminate the vowel that sits in between - in this example it’s the E
- form a consonant cluster with that consonant. - TR
- You’ve now got a shorter, easier to pronounce word: lit-TR-lee.

KANGAROO WORDS
A kangaroo word is a word that carries within it a synonym of itself. The synonym is known as a ‘joey’
For example:
- MASCULINE - male
- CHICKEN - hen
- OBSERVE - see
- BLOSSOM - bloom
Some words have more than one ‘joey’ , such as FEASTED which has a greedy 3 - fed/ eat/ ate.
To qualify as a kangaroo word the joey word has to have its letters in the same order within the kangaroo word and all the letters cannot be adjacent. So ENJOY / joy, for example, wouldn't qualify as a kangaroo word.
