This is about our adventure to find something during covid to escape to. After searching MLS high and low we just could not find anything. Then one day after visiting my Dad up North in a place he has had now for 17 years. We did some research and decided that this checks all the boxes.
The drive is not that far, it is affordable, it allows us privacy and views of nature, and it is something we can accomplish rather quickly.

In 1992 she moved to the Valley of the Sun and graduated from high school in Scottsdale and is a proud alumni of Arizona State University with her Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Political Science.. Interestingly enough, she started a booming career as a banker in 2000 and was named the youngest Bank President in Arizona at the age of 27. Susie worked in that industry until it became “un-fun” in 2009. She found her true passion in the food industry mid-2009 when she co-founded a food events company. That business morphed into the full service PR agency we are today! Susie and her team manage a marketing portfolio of clients ranging in size and scope from food to entertainment to accounting. With over fifteen years of experience, her proven marketing, media and sales models have helped grow small and medium-sized companies all over Arizona and the United States. Susie won numerous achievement awards for her sales skills during her years as a corporate warrior. Additionally, she has been honored as a member of the Phoenix Business Journal’s “40 under 40,” and “Women Leaders in Business,” the Phoenix New Times’ “100 Tastemakers in Phoenix,” So Scottsdale’s “24 Powerful Leaders Under 40,” and as a national trendspotter for the Specialty Food Association’s Fancy Food Shows. Susie is a proud graduate of Scottsdale Leadership, Class 23. Susie has been a recurring featured guest on many local TV stations for her passionate take on gourmet food trends. Susie believes strongly in community stewardship and to that end, she has served as a board member with Scottsdale Leadership, the Leadership Council of Careers in Culinary Arts (C-Cap AZ), and has served three times as the Co-Chair of Taste of the Nation Arizona, an event that raises important funds to feed hungry kids in Arizona. Bassel Osmani was born in The Jura in France in 1965 from Lebanese parents. Three years after, the family moved back to Lebanon where he grew up on the edge of three continents. With cultures from Europe, Asia and Africa fusing, Lebanon provided for a diverse experience. At 18 he moved to the “New world”, where he pursued engineering studies that led to a master’s degree of Science in Engineering at Arizona State University. Michael Christensen has been in the construction industry since 1993. He began working as a residential framer in the suburbs of Chicago. Framing post and beam houses, as well as conventional framed homes, he quickly realized his true passion.
He owned a residential remodeling company for over 5 years. At the same time, he attended Northern Illinois University, where he earned a degree in engineering.
He had always dreamed of moving out west. He was immediately hired by a large, respected structural engineering firm in Arizona. While working at the firm, he also built spec homes after receiving his General Contractor’s license in 2002.
His job duties as a structural engineer included the structural design of residential homes up to 17,000 square feet and commercial buildings made of concrete, steel, wood, and masonry up to 3 stories. His duties also included structural building inspections in numerous city jurisdictions.
In 2004, he decided to follow his passion of building houses full time. His Midwest work ethic combined with his integrity, professionalism, and experience make the heart of his company, Peak One Builders. He enjoys the various challenges that come with building a new home. He listens to what a homeowner wants, and will do whatever it takes to bring their ideas to fruition. With his guidance, planning, and expertise, you can rest assured that you are in good hands from day one.
One major benefit of working with a small company, in addition to being treated like family, is the time you are able to spend directly with the builder. Cherish and love that gift for as long as you are able.

Have you ever heard the phrase I will get to it on Monday?
Sometimes we look for excuses to not start something. I know for me it can come from the Fear of not being perfect. Like this podcast. Just because you may not have all the "tools" or so you think you don't. It does not mean that you can't start your journey in whatever it is you want to dive into. Finding a passion and going with it can really make your life exciting. Even if it is not what you think it is to start you can always pivot and try something else. Isn't that the magic of life?
I wanted to start my short episode series with this topic because I am always guilty of wanting to start something but also thinking it always has to be "perfect". What is perfect? We will never really know. It is always in our head and will never be achieved.
So go find what you love and start to make some progress on it. I promise you it will change your perspective and over time you will look back and go. Oh wow, I remember when I first tried to do that thing. ;-)

A little bit about Josh...
Started bussing tables when I was 15 and have since then been working in Restaurants. Never have I had a job outside of the Restaurant business. I started my career in hotels and later found my passion to be in full-service casual dining operations. I’ve also run nightclubs, resorts and then recently got out of the daily grind of running a restaurant, and started consulting, which is how I found Sip Coffee and Beer. One of the investors was a friend of mine and he asked me to come take a look. I loved the concept and really like the dynamics and the idea of blending coffee and local craft beer. I was able to get some very positive results within a short amount of time. The other partners we so pleased, they asked me to come on board as Director of operations and an equity partner. I truly love what I do and very much believe I can help take sip National.

More about Chula below: Established in San Diego, CA by the Heflin Family in 2009, Chula Seafood is a family owned + operated fishery that purveys high quality, fresh fish from the Pacific Coast. The boat, CHULA, specializes in harpoon-caught & deep-set buoy Swordfish in addition to species off the California Coast. After years of commercial fishing, the family decided to take the plunge into wholesale distribution in California, delivering fresh, Chula caught fish.
FV Chula is docked in Point Loma, CA and this is also where Chula Seafood Wholesale is located. Off-loading directly from our boat to local California restaurants and other distributors. Because of years of commercial fishing and close relationships with the local fisherman, we are able to supply the best of the best.
In August of 2015, the family recognized the need for fresh fish in the desert and began delivering straight from the boat to Arizona. This led to the opening of our first fish market and restaurant, located in South Scottsdale and another slated to open late Fall 2018 in Phoenix.
