After more than 20 years of teaching acting for film and TV around the world, Paul Barry finds this consistently to be proven true. In order to regularly and believably portray authentic and engaging human beings, actors must subvert their habitual impulses and dive into the unfamiliar and sometimes frightening territory of playing the opposite of what would seem to be 'intuitive'.

Having taught acting for film and TV for over 20 years to almost five thousand clients from around the world, including many recognisable actors working on screen in Australia, the UK and the US, Paul's time is now dedicated to his online acting training. Helps actors avoid the 'starving artist' fate by teaching online income generation skills to the next generation of artists via his coaching program, 'Dreaming for a Living'.

We've all been there. Small talk is easy, but it isn't always exciting or engaging. For example, you ask someone how their day was, and they respond with "fine" or "it was okay." But what if you changed the question?

Asking meaningful questions can be the difference between a surface-level conversation and a deep, meaningful exchange. For example, instead of asking someone how their day was, try asking them what the best thing they did today was. You might be surprised at the response you get.

This simple reframing can change the entire ball game when it comes to conversation. By asking more powerful questions, we can open ourselves up to learning more about the people around us and create truly meaningful connections.

Join Dale today for a short episode where he dives into the three worst default questions we all use and how simple reframing can change your life. Please let us know if you liked this short episode, as we can bring them back to mix up the interview-style episodes. Cheers Dale

On April 16, 2009, Kim Hamer watched her 44-yr-old husband take his last breath. During his illness and after his death, she was amazed by the helpful ways their coworkers, bosses, friends, and family supported them. Kim started calling their kind actions "acts of love".

After the death of her husband, Kim, an HR leader, noticed how little guidance leaders received when navigating cancer, health crisis, or death of a team member. She knew their lack of knowledge negatively affected morale, employee engagement, and productivity. She set out to change that. Combining her personal experience with her professional knowledge and leadership skills, Kim launched her business to support leaders and coworkers when cancer (or any health crisis) affects a team member.

From living outdoors as a homeless man in 2005, it was a far cry from being a proud father and patriotic Army soldier in the 1990's, and coping with bipolar and borderline personality disorders almost resulted in suicide. A last chance decision to face the realities of homelessness, divorce, bad parenting, major drug use, and the underlying effects of such mental health crisis lead to a path of total sobriety and an end to life on the streets. As an Australian sporting legend, Katrina Webb is no stranger to a Gold medal podium or a star-lit stage. She has received awards and medals most athletes only dream about. Despite this success, her journey hasn’t always been easy.

Born into a family of sporting stars, it was no surprise that a young Katrina Webb was born with natural athleticism. By the age of eighteen, she had already secured a netball scholarship at The Australian Institute of Sport. What she didn’t realise at this time was that her sporting career was about to take an unexpected turn.

During training at the Institute of Sport, a right sided weakness that Katrina had since birth and for many years she had spent hiding, was labelled Cerebral Palsy. Katrina’s ability to pursue netball at a national level was in jeopardy. Despite this, a twist of fate presented a previously unseen opportunity. Katrina was eligible for the Paralympic games. Her weakness had become her greatest strength.

Over the years Katrina had tried to conceal her disability, so making the decision to compete at the very public Paralympics was not easy. In time, she realised that through self-acceptance and determination she could tackle her disability head on and that it was her gift. This decision paid off when she won two Gold medals, and a Silver medal in Atlanta 1996 and at Sydney 2000 went on to win a Silver and Bronze medal.

While the Sydney Paralympics were successful for Katrina, her competitive spirit still left her with a desire to win Gold again. She knew that to do this she needed to take ‘conscious action’ and become a ‘Gold’ level performer in every aspect of her life. In the four years between the Sydney and Athens Paralympics, Katrina mastered the alchemy of performance with a clear focus on understanding mindset, and the results speak for themselves. At Athens in 2004 she won another Gold Medal in the 400-metre sprint and set a new Paralympic record.

Today, Katrina’s running career is in the past, but her passion for helping others perform at their best continues to be her greatest inspiration. Off the track Katrina is the Director of Silver 2 Gold High Performance Solutions which specialises in powering organisations, teams and individuals best. As a professional speaker she has impressed audiences at an International level including speaking at the United Nations and sharing the stage with the likes of Sir Richard Branson, Jack Ma and Usain Bolt.

Ash and Dale both outline the issues they are seeing in children and adults after the effects of COVID 19. Stress and anxiety are at an all-time high, and it's time that they share some fun ideas on ways to improve this.

Anxiety is the most common mental health condition in Australia. On average, one in four people – one in three women and one in five men – will experience anxiety at some stage in their life. In a 12 month period, over two million Australians experience anxiety.

Whatever you are doing, stop and take 30 minutes out of your day for one of the most inspiring and uplifting podcast episodes I have had the pleasure of recording. Today's guest, Chris Koch, was born in the small farming and ranching community of Nanton in Alberta, Canada. Despite being born without arms and legs, it’s an understatement to say he has lived a full and active life. Growing up, he helped on the family farm and participated in sports, including baseball, soccer and snowboarding. In recent years, Koch has shared his story worldwide, spreading his message of “If I Can…” encouraging others to make the most out of life regardless of their situation. He constantly seeks out new adventures and challenges, conveying his message by example. He has travelled the globe extensively, often solo, crossing off bucket-list items, including bungee-jumping and swimming with sharks. Koch has also embarked on several fundraising challenges, including climbing all 1,776 stairs of the CN Tower and completing the Calgary Marathon.

Today is an exhilarating day as it marks three years since Dr Craig Daly and I started talking about putting together a challenge to help children and adults worldwide. This is completely free for everyone and labour of love to improve the globes happiness and mental health. Below you can read out what's involved in the free packs and click on the link at the end of the show notes to gain access to the JAG BAG Packs from Jugar Life.

With approximately half of all mental disorders commencing before the age of 14, school settings play a crucial role in ensuring that mental health and well-being are constant focus points during a student’s formative years. Research over the past 20 years has suggested that comprehensive initiatives embracing a 'whole of school' approach (involving school leaders, teachers, staff, and parents) have fostered a climate where better transitions from childhood to adulthood occur.

However, overall, student mental health appears to be on the decline, with an estimated one in every five adolescents suffering from a significant mental health disorder. Of additional concern is that, sadly, most instances go undetected and untreated. Early research outputs since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic estimate incidences of adolescent anxiety, depression, and stress have risen significantly. Students worldwide struggle to deal with the loneliness, social isolation, and negativity brought on by continued uncertainty. At JUGAR|LIFE, we want to do our part to remedy that.

JAG, as an acronym, stands for joy, affection, and gratitude. These elements exist as core components of social and emotional wellbeing. We challenged ourselves to design an initiative that prioritised these components irrespective of school setting; an initiative that was comprehensive in nature, flexible in delivery, and aligned with specific learning objectives drawn from global social and emotional wellness curricula. We made it our mission to make it available free of charge to all. The JAG Bag is the result.

Layne has recently launched the "Awaken Academy' which I absolutely love as well. The title really sums it up perfectly, the No Bullsh*t Transformation. The course is unlike any other online course. Why? Because you are learning from a 7-time world champion surfer who has failed brilliantly and continues to win at life. Here is your code word 'Awake10' that Layne has generously created so you can receive 10% off her brand new course. Check it out on the link below. Thanks so much for your time, energy and passion in this interview Layne.

What does success look, sound or feel like? This is a question that Kyle Wood my good mate, and I have been chatting about for a while. Kyle is one of the smartest business owners I know and also is now a great friend of mine. In 2016 I reached out to Kyle through email with a crazy idea that we could meet up and create a podcast together. I had followed Kyle's work online for years, and really admired what he had been able to create, and the impact it was having globally. Since that first email in 2016, we have formed a great bond and also a cracking podcast called 'Lead Your Tribe'.

Just like this weekly podcast, Kyle and I release a weekly episode for anyone who wants to build a business, tribe or following. Last weeks episode was so powerful that I had to share it here today. The reason it was so powerful is that 2020 has allowed us to change goals, ideas and the vision for the future. With this, I feel this means what we class as being successful has changed as well. Join Kyle and myself as we dive into this huge topic on today's podcast.

Welcome to episode #213 with Dr Andrew Leech. Andrew believes every child deserves comprehensive, quality healthcare starting at the local GP. Children’s health is evolving, and the role of the GP is more significant than ever, supporting families on their journey, walking with them, understanding their needs, finding the right pathway.

The complexity of children’s needs has expanded beyond the simple day to day problems. As we learn more about the effects of a child’s early development and influences, we have come to realise we can do so much to make a difference. We can intervene earlier; we can change the trajectory of that child’s entire life. Andrew considers himself a kids GP and feels his calling or purpose in life is focused in this direction.

Andrew works as an ‘everyday GP’, but his interests have become more focused on improving health and mental health outcomes for children and their caregivers. Following graduation from medical school at the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle, Andrew has achieved the FRACGP and completed further studies with the child health diploma. Andrew continues to advise both the RACGP and now also Emerging Minds as part of their course development. Andrew is also the host of the very insightful 'The Kids Healthy Network Podcast'.

This week I am delighted to have not only one of the best people I know back on the show but also my cousin and someone I am incredibly proud of. Ryan Sidebottom is a professional cricketer in the UK and plays for Warwickshire Cricket Club. This is the second time I have had Ryan on the show. If you would like to listen to his upbringing and his story from growing up in Victoria, Australia, to now playing first-class cricket in the UK, you can listen to episode 80 of the podcast.

With the world changing in all professions this year due to COVID19, I thought it would be fantastic to share what that has been like through the eyes of a full-time professional sportsperson. As well as talking about the highs and lows that have made up 2020 for Ryan, we will also have a laugh and a lot of fun in this weeks episode.

Today's guest Brooke Neal should have been at the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics the day we recorded this episode. She was one of the Black Sticks (New Zealand Women's Hockey Team) most decorated players for the last decade, but due to COVID19 and the state of the world, she was able to take me up on a much more appealing offer to be a guest on this week's podcast.

It all started for Brooke on the grass at Kensington Park in Whangarei in New Zealand. She was three years old when she first picked up a hockey stick and hasn't put it down since!

Brooke would like to think that hockey is just one of the things that have shaped her life, along with her career and a fantastic support network. A lanky 15-year old whose nick name was 'baby giraffe' to having the honour of wearing the black singlet for New Zealand at the Rio 2016 Olympics, and playing over 170 games for her country. Brooke spends her spare time eating, paddle boarding, beach-ing, yoga-ing, watching home and away and spending time with friends and family.

In 2013, she graduated as a Sir Edmund Hillary Scholar from the University of Waikato with a Bachelor of Communications, and since returning from Rio, Brooke has become an Olympic Ambassador. Through visiting over 180 schools, she has found her passion for helping young girls who are in the same boat as she was at high school, to support them through such a transformational time and help them find a sense of balance. Brooke immersed herself in self-development courses, books and podcasts, completing "The Female Leader" course run by Altris in 2016, and the "Conscious Boss Bootcamp" in 2017. Brooke is excited for this next chapter of her life with her company 'All About Balance NZ' now that she has retired from professional sport.

Im sure everyone will take something away from today's fun and an insightful podcast chat. To reach out to Brooke and find out more about everything she is doing, you can do so on the links below:

This week's podcast has been taken from a recent webinar that Kirsty and James did for our healthy minds positive vibes summit. The content was so powerful and uplifting that I had to share it with you all on the podcast. In today's episode, you will explore a holistic approach to shifting any situation towards a harmonic outcome. Kirsty and James use their experience from the family home, battlefield to boardroom to provide a mental, physical, emotional and spiritual platform to take you Beyond Resilience.

Kirsty and James Greenshields, are co-founders of Resilient Leaders Foundation.

Together as a dynamic team, they have touched 1000's of Australians with their open-hearted approach to life, and their positive example of how to live a life of impact. They've also reached 1000's internationally through the power of social media, others' podcasts, and have been regulars on some international radio and internet radio platforms.

They met while both serving as officers in the Australian Army. Kirsty left her career as an intelligence officer in 2002 to pursue a career in health and created a successful naturopathy practice.

James retired from military service in 2010, after returning from service in Iraq in 2006/7, as the commander of over 100 troops. During his tour, his armoured vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb. When he returned, aside from his shrapnel wounds, most of his wounds were unseen. He experienced severe depression and post traumatic stress. This began the couple's process of healing, which inspired them to eventually help others to heal.

Their feel-good story of recovery, and relationship growth in the face of adversity, has featured on the Huffington Post, ABC News, The Australian Weekend Magazine, Marie Clare, and Queensland's Courier Mail. They've helped transform the lives of 100's of individuals who have attended their workshops, and they continue to assist small to large Australian organizations and associations best manage transition, leadership, communication and relationship processes.

At Resilient Leaders Foundation, we use the term 'Harmonic Leadership', which is not a model, but a paradigm of leadership for a new world, outside of outdated systemic practices.

The Resilient Leaders Foundation was recognized as a national harm prevention charity in 2017, and all activities are aligned with the charitable purpose of the foundation. All programs and activities have been developed as a result of the desire to contribute to the prevention of domestic violence, youth suicide, depression and familial dysfunction.

Welcome to another week of the podcast with an episode that EVERYONE needs to listen to at the moment. 2020 has not been the easiest of times for anyone, and that's why today's guest Dana Kerford is here to help. Not only is Dana full of energy and fun, but she is also one of the best in the business with building, fostering and creating lasting and meaningful friendships.

Dana Kerford is a friendship expert and the Founder of URSTRONG.

Dana's career as a teacher began in 2004 when, after settling into grade 4 at a private school in Canada, she quickly identified the intensity and complexity of friendships for young girls. Inspired by her students, Dana began researching relational aggression, conflict resolution, and the inner workings of female relationships.

In 2009, Dana developed and launched the first-ever GirlPower friendship program, teaching her students how to foster a community of kindness and support. The girls embraced the program and learned how to have a voice in their friendships, improving the overall culture of the school. Dana knew she needed to devote her life to this and her husband, Michael, believed in her dream and turned GirlPower into a company.

Since then, Dana has worked with tens of thousands of girls, parents, and educators in schools and community-based venues across Canada, the United States, and Australia. In 2012, Dana wrote and published her first book, The Friendship Project – a workbook for parents and tween girls.

During that time, every co-gendered school she went in, the #1 question she heard was, "What about the boys?" After extensive research on the social dynamics of boys, Dana created a pilot program and conducted sessions with hundreds of tween boys in 11 schools across three countries. In 2014, she launched GirlPower's brother program, GoodGuys – the first-ever friendship program for boys. In 2016, Dana and Michael were invited to an exclusive conference on gender equality at the White House to share the successes behind GirlPower & GoodGuys. This experience led them to rebrand the company to URSTRONG, a friendship program for children.

Dana has a team of Presenters that she trains and coaches and is involved in every aspect of the business. Media outlets around the world regularly interview her; in magazines, newspapers, and been a guest on numerous television and radio programs. Dana speaks at International Education Conferences and has presented at the Positive Education Schools Association Conferences around Australia, the Positive Schools Mental Health & Wellbeing Conferences in Asia and Australia, The International Conference on Education in Hawaii, and the Girls Empowerment Network 'We Are Girls Conference' in Austin, TX. Dana has been nominated for awards such as the Top 40 Under 40 and won awards including Entrepreneur of the Year, Mompreneur Momentum Award, and Girl Advocate of the Year. URSTRONG was also recognized in 2017 by the Government of Alberta, winning the Inspiration Award for URSTRONG's leadership in bullying prevention in schools.

Last month Greg Mitchell was an international education consultant delivering workshops and conference keynotes to schools and teachers all over the place. This month Greg is learning the whole new language of online delivery to teachers and schools from his spare room!

While this change has not been as brutal as the time he lost everything he owned in one night in Cyclone Tracy, this COVID19 change has challenged all of his previously held beliefs about how the world works and tested his renowned enthusiasm for life. It has also brought into laser-like focus Greg’s frameworks for thinking about how to deal with what the world has to deliver. Greg’s concept of four major mindsets rather than simply two will give an incredibly practical insight into how to deal with the challenges that lay before us.

A couple of months ago, I had the pleasure of being introduced onto the TEDx stage by today's guest. Jonathan Creek was one of the most entertaining and fun MC's I have had the pleasure of viewing live. We instantly hit it off and have been in regular contact since. Today's chat is a lot of fun as well as incredibly insightful as Jonathan has lived a fascinating life to date.

As an award-winning Investigative journalist, Jonathan knows how to communicate with audiences from the stage in a way that shifts their thinking, has them challenging what they know and leaves them feeling inspired to do more.

Jonathan knows it's not about him or even his journey, but 100% about those in the crowd and the actions they take with the tools and knowledge he shares. By de-mystifying online video and revealing the secret formula to mass consumption content, Jonathan is looking to transform people, particularly the way they tell their stories.

Through a variety of tasks and activities, listeners will explore the impact that mindset has on personal and professional performance and the importance of creating a more empowering personal narrative. Today's podcast is an opportunity to learn how to better deal with the anxiety and stress many people are experiencing due to the uncertainty we face.

To make lemonade out of lemons is to take something that is not so great and turn it into something useful. A prevalent phrase is as follows: "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade."

Let's be honest we have all heard this phrase a lot over the years, but what does it really mean? When the cards are stacked against you, what will you do? Sit back and let life suck you up, or get on the front foot and find new ways to bring joy and happiness to the world?

These are two questions that Dale was handed a couple of weeks ago like the rest of the world. Coronavirus is a once in a lifetime tragedy. Join Dale today for a solo podcast as he talks through how he has been able to shift his mindset and make everything that is happening in the world a positive for himself and the people he cares about. This is an excellent flow on from Thursday podcast with Sam Moinet.

Today's guest, Scott Miller, came highly recommended from a good friend and two time veteran of the podcast Andy Vasily. Whenever Andy messages, emails or calls, I listen and like also, he has not let me down. Scott lays it all on the line today's as nothing is off the table in what can be described as open, honest and raw.

In 2019 at 44 years of age, Scott decided to change one thing about his life... Everything! Not because he didn't already have a good life and a ton to be grateful for, but because Scott knew he wanted more.

Scott realised he wanted to help people in a way that genuinely made their lives better. And from there, I Coach Connect was created. So after 15 years an Actor, Acting Coach and Leader in Corporate Hospitality. Scott left his job and everything he had ever felt comfortable with and started training to be a Transitional Life Coach.

Let's be honest, times are tough, and it can either bring the best or worst out in most people. Today I have the absolute pleasure of sharing Sam Moinet with you all. I don't want to give away this compelling episode in the notes, but I will say this. If things are not going well at the moment and you are struggling, this episode is for you as Sam and myself lay it all on the table in one of the most open, raw and vulnerable podcasts to date.

Sam is a teacher, speaker and student life coach. He aims to revolutionise emotional support for young people and create lasting change for future generations. Sam solves problems for students by using simple and useful coaching tools and strategies to help students; dream about their future success, believe in themselves and who they are and to achieve in vital aspects of their lives.

Sams journey to Student Breakthrough has been incredibly insightful. From teaching history in the UK for five years, he found that so many students failed to achieve the grades they wanted, lacked self-confidence and were not motivated to achieve their very best. Having all of that experience working with students, Sam started to realise that he wanted to have a more significant impact working with young people to support them in becoming more happy and prosperous. Sam realised that there is more to education than just data, tests and results. He really wanted to help and inspire students to achieve greatness in every corner of their lives.

Just over a month ago, I had the pleasure of sitting in the front row at TEDx Docklands and watching Sharan speak for the first time. To put it simply, I was blown away by the confidence, maturity and kind nature of this superstar. The first thing I said after his talk was that, "I have to have you on the Energetic Radio podcast because you are simply incredible Sharan".

Sharan Velauthan is a 26-year-old Sri Lankan studying a full-time Masters at RMIT University graduating this May 2020! Sharan grew up with a single mum and kindness and empathy was engrained in him from a young age. After coming to Australia, Sharan has volunteered at the Red Cross, an Ambassador for the Mental Health Foundation of Australia, a workshop facilitator, content creator and strategist, but mainly a Mental Health Advocate using social media to spread a positive message. And, a very humbled and grateful TEDx Speaker!

Sharan's main aim is to help other people to the best of my capability. In hopes that it causes a ripple effect of kindness.

Growing up all I personally craved was being included and having great friends in my life. Today's guest has a strong passion for inclusion and removing attitudinal barriers. Maggie Fay is an educator in Ontario, Canada, where she teaches students with Autism and Developmental Disabilities.

Before Maggie became an educator, she started her career in the field of disabilities as a support worker, educational assistant and running a government funding program for adults with disabilities. When Maggie teaches, she thinks about her own boys and how they would want a teacher to respond to them, acknowledge them and treat them.

This year Maggies received the Award of Excellence and was truly honoured to be recognized for my dedication and a strong belief in equity and inclusion.

As well as this, Maggie is a best selling author and all-round superstar.

Today I have the pleasure of sharing Chris Seipel and his story. Over the past six years, Chris has faced the biggest battle of his life with debilitating anxiety. Throughout that time, he has had many many people contact him to ask advice or simply talk to him about what they are going through.

The daily anxiety that Chris has faced has crippled him. Chris has spent his life savings, trying to find a way out. Medication, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, expensive retreats, hospital stays. Every day has been a battle of survival, and it has nearly cost him his life with suicide, always there as a close companion. Only those who have experienced prolonged deep pain can genuinely understand others facing similar battles. That empathy can't be learnt in a textbook.

In what can only be described as one of the most open and honest podcast chats I have had to date, Chris shares it all. You can reach out to Chris afterwards and thank him for the courage he has shown to record such a gripping epsiode below:

As a child, Lego consumed my life, and to be honest, whenever someone mentions the word Lego, it makes me smile as I had so many amazing memories playing with Lego while I was growing up. The reason I mentioned this is because today's guest is a Lego Serious Play instructor and travels the globe helping individuals engage their imaginations through the power of play, Lego, and so much more.

Professor Alison James is one impressive human and has more energy than most, which I absolutely love. Alison is a Professor of Learning and Teaching, Director of Academic Quality and Development at the University of Winchester as well as a TEDx speaker, keynote speaker and an author of two fantastic books that we will mention in today's show.

The big takeaways from this chat are around the four touchstones that Alison feels need to be involved in everyone's work and life which are connection, involvement, enjoyment and inclusion.

Growing up in the Sidebottom household as a kid, one of the most played board games was Pictionary. Our family loved this game, and we had so many fun memories playing it together. This was all thanks to, today's guest Ron Angel as he created this fantastic board games as a 26-year-old.

At 26 years-old today's guest, Rob Angel was working evenings as a waiter, while spending days in his back yard with a paperback Webster’s Dictionary, a No. 2 pencil and a yellow legal pad, creating the phenomenally successful board game Pictionary.

Rob and his friends built the first 1000 games together in his tiny one-bedroom apartment. They did not have some how-to-manual to follow when it came to creating a board game. They just did what they loved. Rob and his mates followed their intuition. They worked hard at it day in and day out, keeping an unwavering entrepreneurial spirit of building Pictionary into the global powerhouse that was its destiny.

For the next 17 years, this relentless dedication resulted in distribution in 65 countries in 45 languages, with over 38 Million Pictionary games being enjoyed by people from diverse cultures and backgrounds around the world. Rob sold the brand to Mattel, Inc., in 2001 who now proudly carries on and continues the game's legacy.

Today Rob shares this epic journey and so much more. If you would like to sign up for his upcoming book or follow him on Instagram, you can do so on the links below:

Today I have the pleasure of sharing a man that everyone will be family with. The man behind Jim's mowing.
Jim Penman started a part-time gardening business while earning his PhD in history at Latrobe University. He launched a full-time mowing business in 1982 with a $24 investment.

He originally aimed only at taking on subcontractors, but his business grew and he gradually began to specialise in the building up and selling of lawn mowing rounds. By 1989 he franchised his business, and since then Jim’s Mowing has become the largest franchise chain in Australian and the largest and best-known lawn mowing business in the world.

Jim’s Cleaning was launched in 1994, followed by more than 50 other divisions which now operate in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United Kingdom. Jim’s Group now has over 3,800 Franchisees and a turnover of approximately $500 million.

Jim says
“The key to success in franchising is an overriding concern for the welfare of franchisees, and constant improvement in customer service.”

He is still actively involved in the running of the business, is directly accessible to all his Franchisees and to any client with a serious complaint.

He is funding a research program into the epigenetics of social behaviour, a continuation of his PhD work, which he believes could help in the treatment of mental illness and addictive disorders.

His books ‘Biohistory’, Biohistory: decline of the West’, and ‘Every Customer a Fan’ are available on Amazon and from his web site www.biohistory.org.

This week I have the pleasure of chatting with the super impressive Damian 'Doc' Murdoch, who is helping people all over the globe take control of their health and reducing the effects anxiety has on so many individuals.

Damian's story started 15 years ago when he was living in Victoria, Australia. Where he was the owner of a successful bar/entertainment venue and had just purchased another one. In many eyes, Damian had the world at my feet and ambitious plans for the future. Ideas that he felt would make a difference in the world.

However, there were underlying confidence and belief issues which were holding him back and stopped him from really going for his dreams. Damian instead sabotaged everything he'd worked for, and the depression and anxiety which had always lingered below the surface pulled him down.

The anxiety that until then had shown up only as a fear of public speaking spiralled down to the point where panic attacks were making it a battle to leave the house.

In 2007 Damian sold his businesses and headed for the sun in Queensland to sort himself out, get to the bottom of what happened, and rebuild. Damian got super curious on the ways to do that, leaving no stone unturned and trying just about everything that he came across.

During this time Damian completed three years of a Bachelor of Health Science to learn about the body, and course after course after course to learn about the human mind, qualifying him as a Master Practitioner of NLP, Hypnosis and Life Coaching, among other things.

With his new skills and knowledge, Damian began to use what he’d learnt to help others and discovered that anxiety plays out entirely differently for different people.

Damian continues to learn and has a seemingly insatiable thirst to find what truly works in this field, as well as an obsession in finding the best ways to achieve goals and maximise human potential in general. He is continually seeking to raise his standards and looking for ways to improve while finding the best ways for others to do the same. Damian is looking forward to continuing to bring that information to you via World-Class Friend.

This is a podcast episode that will have a significant impact on so many people, and one that I have thoroughly enjoyed recording. After this episode, if you would like to reach out to Damian and thank him or talk more about everything we have discussed you can do so on the links below:

Welcome to episode number 150 of the podcast. Today's episode is very open, honest and raw around mental health, depression and suicide. Please be aware of this before you start to listen.

Today's episode is the proudest I have been since starting this podcast three years ago. This episode was really confronting for Dad and myself. We were both extremely nervous as you will be able to tell at the start of the conversation. The reason I wanted to share  Dad's story was for myself to show how far we have come over the past twenty years as father and son, but also to help others around mental health and starting conversations.

I am really proud of Dad and the outstanding work he has done on himself and 100's of others over the years. If today's chat helps one other person, it is a win for both of us. I love my father very much and am honoured to have him on the podcast for the 150th episode.

If you would like to reach other to Kevin or myself, you can do so on the following links below, and I will pass it all on to him for you. Thanks again for everyone's support, love and kind words on the podcast. It is something that I am very proud of, and cant wait to continue delivering awesome guests in the future. Have a great day, everyone. Cheers Dale

Stop whatever you are doing and make sure this episode is the only podcast you listen to this year. I can't describe in words how inspirational and life-changing this weeks episode is.

Today's guest James Greenfields is someone that my father asked me to have on the show after listening to him speak twice in a group he runs called 'talking straight' in Shepparton. Dad said that James was the most inspirational person he has ever heard speak and that my audience has to hear from him. So that's what I have done, and it's simply brilliant.

James Greenshields is a motivational speaker and emotional literacy facilitator who specialized in helping men, both young and older, how to find their direction in life. He is the co-founder of the Resilient Leaders Foundation and creator of the Superhero Pilgrimage.

We talk about been the commander of over 100 soldiers in Iraq and being blown up by a tank, then coming home from war and dealing with several personal issues. James talks about the road to taking back control of his life, and how that everyone can do this with hard work, accountability and the knowledge that life can be beautiful and brilliant each and every day if we allow it to be.

After today's chat, I personally know that you will be blown away, and you can reach out to Jame's through the following avenues to thank him for the work he is doing and also to sign up to one of his courses.

Thank you so much for your time today Jame's, this episode is going to help many people, and I am incredibly grateful for your time.

Today I have the pleasure of introducing an Australian Icon, Trevor Hendy. Now, most of you will be familiar with the work Trev did in the ocean back in the '80s, and '90s where he dominated the Ironman surf series, and to be honest this is what I thought we would mainly talk about in today's show. The remarkable thing is that we spoke on a much deeper level around, health, happiness and the power of finding joy in our lives. As well as this, Trev spoke so passionately about the power of serving and how kindness is one of the biggest superpowers we all have.

Trev is a true inspiration, and today's chat is one that I have listened back to now four more times as the content is so compelling. After you have been blown away by the great man, you can follow everything he is doing and join up to his 12-week bootcamp for the soul on this link below.

Welcome to episode number 139 with Gordon MacLelland. A generation ago children went out to play sport for the fun of the game and if they became successful and were able to make a living from it then that was great. It was not the primary motivation for parents setting out their children on their sporting careers.

Many parents from the moment they see their child in sports kit and they begin to look like mini-adults, have a much greater expectation, which can often outweigh their patience in helping their child develop at the appropriate speed.

As obesity rates continue to rise globally, many young people are giving up sport in their teenage years due to some of the pressures, behaviours put on them by parents during their formative years and they simply fall out of love with sport. It is no longer fun and that is the primary reason that children want to play sport in the first place.

We all have a responsibility to address this. Sport and physical activity should be seen as a lifetime investment for our children, not a short term gain.

We need to go back to basics and see sport for what it is, a chance for our children to learn experiences for life.

Teamwork, dealing with adversity, friendships, sportsmanship are all valuable traits in life and not just in sport.

Gordon MacLelland set up ‘Working with Parents in Sport’ after 20 years as a teacher and as a coach to all age levels from 7-year-olds to Adults.

He has a BA/Hons degree in Sports Science from University College Chester and a PGCE from Lancaster University.

He is a qualified teacher and has been Director of Sport at an independent prep school in the UK for the last 10 years. He has worked in schools in both the UK and New Zealand for the last 16 years.

He is the author of two books, ‘Great Sports Parenting’ – A pocket guide for parents of children in sport and ‘Engage’ – A coaches guide to building positive relationships with parents.

In recent times he has become a parent to two children and the early sporting experiences of his own children prompted him to set up the company as well as write the two books above.

I have extracted this BIO and breakdown of today's podcast from Gordon's website - https://www.parentsinsport.co.uk/

Today I have the pleasure of chatting with former Matilda's vice-captain Joey Peters. Joey had a stellar career that started as a 17-year-old back in 1996 for the Australian Women's soccer team. Tied, stressed, anxious, lonely and the list goes on. These are just some of the emotions that we feel daily. Some people are much better at handling these than others, and its something I am continually trying to become better at myself. Now that doesn't mean to block these feelings out or mask them, as they only come back stronger.

If your way of dealing with the lows is to run away, I hope today's episode will help. I want to share three simple little tricks that will help. It's not going to make them disappear forever, but whenever I'm feeling down, low or not my usual self, these three simple actions really help me out.

If you have other ways that work for you, please send me an email at dale@energetic.education or on Instagram or Twitter. My username for both is @dalesidebottom
If this episode was beneficial or helpful for you, we would love you to share this with a family member or friend as sharing is caring.

We talk about the importance of self-belief, the power of relationships and one of the funniest stories I have ever heard. Two of the best tombstones ever thrown down on an AFL coach.

Shan is a fantastic role model, and this shines brightly in our chat today. Thanks for your time mate, everyone will gain so much from everything you shared today. If you like our conversation, you can reach out to Shan on twitter @ShannonBoourns

Today's guest is coaching superstar Jack Rolfe. As a graduate of Sports Coaching Science from Canterbury Christ Church, Jack is a self-confessed coaching geek. Now working across the youth development landscape in field hockey, Jack has racked up what can’t be far off 25,000 miles of coaching adventures, exploring environments and cultures much further afield than England and his sport of field hockey.

His philosophy of “Don’t be boring, be exciting” has undoubtedly influenced the design of MatchPlay Cards! I have recently purchased a pack of Jack's outstanding cards to test them out myself. And I can hands down say that they are brilliant. This is not a paid episode as I don't promote products or resources that I don't believe in or receive money for producing this podcast.

For years I have been on a mission to gain praise and expectancy from others. I would leave my fate, happiness and overall success in life on what other people thought of me. If this sounds familiar then, hopefully, today's episode will explain the steps I have taken to change my outlook on life and myself.

Today's episode was inspired after I listen to Seth Godin's podcast a couple of weeks ago on 'picking yourself'. It is a fantastic episode and really opened my eyes to a lot of actions and perceptions I had of things I was chasing.

I will talk about three stories today from where this mindset and drive has come from, as well as the shift in me as a person and what I value about others and myself. I am sure that you will be able to take away a few points from today's episode and hopefully start selecting yourself first in life and be proud of you for what you are. I wish I had of done it years ago. Become the selector and make sure every time you pick your team in life you are the captain the coach and the star.

Firstly I would just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the lovely emails, messages and five-star reviews on iTunes throughout 2018. I am incredibly grateful for the support and kindness that I have received this year for the impact the podcast has had.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the number of outstanding guests who have given up their time in 2018 to come on the show as guests.

Today's episode is a short and sharp one, where I share how facing up to my fears, getting rid of anger and being vulnerable has changed the person I am and the outlook I have on life. I'm sure that everyone will be able to relate to one or two of the issues and topics I discuss today. Please share with your friends as I hope people can adopt a few of these changes in the new year as I have.

Finally, I rest, relaxation and travel are three things I value very much. I will be off travelling around South America for the next five weeks, so take the time to listen back over previous episodes and guests. I will be back bigger and better than ever in 2019. Once again, thank you for your fantastic support, I feel so blessed when I receive your emails and messages: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Cheers Dale and the team.

Welcome to episode number 108 of the podcast. Today I have the pleasure of sharing the No Tosh founder and CEO Ewan McIntosh with you all.

Leading projects around the world for clients in education and industry, Ewan is the passionate and energising tour de force behind NoTosh. A highly-regarded keynote speaker at events around the world, he’s also the author of How To Come Up With Great Ideas And Actually Make Them Happen and regularly writes about learning on his blog edu.blogs.com.

“As a French and German high school teacher in Scotland back in the 1990s, Ewan wanted to find new ways to help students engage with his subjects – He felt strongly that technology was both critical to this and underused in the classroom, so Ewan's classes were among the first in Europe to podcast and blog as part of their daily learning.

"From here, it was a reasonably logical step to for Ewan to become National Advisor on Learning and Technology Futures for the Scottish Government... although joining Channel 4 as their Digital Commissioner in 2008 was a step in a different direction. But it was on Channel 4 that Ewan became fascinated by the strategies and tactics that his creative colleagues used to create imaginative and truly engaging digital services for young people. Ewan thought could he take this insight and make it work in an education setting? Yes, he I could... and that’s how NoTosh came about.”

Welcome to episode number 106 with John Kralik. This is one episode that I have been extremely excited to share with you all. The reason for that is that at the start of this year I read John's book '365 thank yous' and it seriously changed my life.

I don't want to give away everything we speak about today, but John's thought process to put others first with kindness and gratitude in a time when his life was not going so well is truly inspiring. In December 2007, John had reached an all-time low in his life, as debts were at an all-time high, he was dissatisfied in life, and everything seemed to be getting worse. This is why you need to listen to John's journey as hopefully, it will leave as significant an impact on you as it has on me.

Thursday thought time once again. Today while listening to this short episode I want to challenge you. When was the last time that you told someone you were proud of them? This could be face to face, through a letter, email or message. It is a simple act of kindness that will take less than 30 seconds right now.

Today's challenge is quite simple. Pick one or two people and write them a text message with nothing besides, 'I am proud of you because.....

This simple act of kindness will do a number of things. Firstly it will make the person who receives the message smile and feel happy. It will also make you feel happier as well, as you have done something extraordinarily nice for someone in your life. There are a number of other side effects that will be created as a result of this simple experiment. Give it a try today and spread the love.

If you haven't checked out our FREE app 'Jugar Life' which is a daily routine app to help you increase your happiness. Here is the link - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/jugar-life/id1397736493?mt=8&at=10l8yK

Here is my Thursday challenge for everyone today. The challenge is simple, the first five people you see today or over the weekend you need to 'get in early' with a greeting or a hello. This will hopefully create a ripple effect of kindness and happiness with the five people that you interact with. That's it, simple but extremely effective. If this scares you step outside of your comfort zone as that is when the magic happens. Have a beautiful Thursday everyone. Cheers Dale

We have a huge episode today for you, with so many takeaways on determination, resilience, hard work and surrounding yourself with good people. Today's guest Michael Barlow is an elite athlete, who has played 138 senior AFL (Australian Rules Football) games for Fremantle and the Gold Coast Suns and counting. This is a great achievement on its own, but the message I love is the journey Michael had to overcome just to be drafted as a rookie to the Fremantle Dockers.

This is a great episode to share with children and students on what hard work and not giving up looks like. Set back after set back has made Michael the robust and resilient man that he is today. You will enjoy his sense of humour as he is a great individual. Thanks for your time today Michael, I hope everyone enjoys our chat as much as I did.

Storytelling encourages and enhances the listening skills of children, sparking their imagination and stimulating curiosity . I have been fascinated with storytelling since I could walk, I still remember my amazing mother Karyn, creating meditation stories to help me relax and go to sleep at night. Fast forward 25 years and I still love storytelling. In fact two of my most listened to podcasts are about people telling stories. This has had me thinking over the past month, wouldn't it be great if teachers from all over the world could share their amazing story. The subject could relate to funny moments in the classroom or teachers holiday experiences, or their life experiences etc.

In today's podcast you will hear a story from myself, one from Dylan Cuttriss, Brenda Carberry-Tang and Gavin McCormack. I have titled this podcast- Part 1, I am sure everyone will be wanting to hear more yarns and tales in future podcasts.

If you would like to share your own story, please email me at dale@energetic.education and we can have you as a feature teacher in Part 2 of 'yarns and tales from teachers'.

Earlier this year I caught up for a coffee with today’s guests Tim and James from Free Agency, during the meeting we discussed a number of different issues. Towards the end of the meeting Tim and James touched on a book which they highly recommended. The book is called the Go Giver, through its simplicity and engaging content it will change your thought processes in the way you think, feel and treat people in everyday life. The Go Giver in one word is awesome; I highly recommend this book for all adults and teenagers

With all that said, I thought it would only be fitting to interview Tim and James regarding the views they both have on the book and what they have taken away from the Go Giver.  Listen in as both Tim, James and I talk through the messages, the impact and reflection this little book has had on both our lives.

Story telling is one of the most powerful teaching tools we can use, children engage when they learn and move in a narrative style. Educators can create memorable learning experiences for their students by harnessing the power of storytelling in the classroom.

In today’s podcast I will explain the power of storytelling demonstrating how I use it to create a stretching and relaxing story about going to a sports match. Each part of the story requires the student to hold a certain pose, stretching and relaxing their body.

I have also created a YouTube video to demonstrate the movements while the story is being told. To put it simply, narrative style of education is super power, it’s fun and engaging.

Social media has changed the way we communicate today. In fact, at it’s root, social media is about connecting people with people. Twitter has been growing faster than any other social network and is expected to grow at a faster rate in the near future. Teachers use the twitter platform as a way to connect with other like minded teachers around the globe, sharing ideas, resources and building relationships with other teachers. I would go as far as saying that Twitter is the best free professional development opportunity available to teachers. All that said, I am going to explain why I feel this and give you some tips on how to get started on your Twitter journey in this episode of The Energetic Education podcast.

Gamification is all the craze at the moment, today’s episode explores the benefits you will gain within your classroom. Gamification is basically using game mechanics like programmers and game developers use to make awesome video games. The use of rewards, levels, badges scoreboards etc creates maximum buy in from everyone that plays. This is why people want to keep playing Xbox or PlayStation, the games engage participation. If you apply certain mechanics of game development and gamify your classroom lessons, students will be more involved in the classroom activity. I will endeavour to break down what gamification is to me in this episode and give you three examples of how I have used gamification as a learning platform in the classroom.

This episode is quite short and sharp, it’s basically a reminder to teachers that we are there to educate and work hard, but also have fun and enjoy every day we have in the classroom. I will discuss five easy steps that you can add to your teaching to become a super cool teacher. I’m sure most of you already do these, but it’s always good to have a little reminder that fun, laughter and play is the best way to learn. Hopefully you can have a laugh at some of my favourite dad jokes or take away one little gem from today’s brief episode.

My top five Dad joke

“What time did the man go to the dentist? Tooth hurt-y.”

‘Did you hear about the guy who invented Lifesavers? They say he made a mint.'”

“Whenever the cashier at the grocery store asks my dad if he would like the milk in a bag he replies, ‘No, just leave it in the carton!'”

“I used to have a job at a calendar factory but I got the sack because I took a couple of days off.”

“I had a dream that I was a muffler last night. I woke up exhausted!”

It felt like the right fit for me to make the podcast, about creating an app. The reason for this is most weeks I have people come up to me and say “I have the best idea for an app”. It seems everyone has an idea that’s going to make him or her the next Angry Birds app or Paper Toss, making millions of dollars’ revenue a year.

So here we go, I want to try and write a simple guide so people who have these amazing ideas can transform them into reality. The one thing most people don’t realise is that there are a number of steps involved, a lot of different skilled people you need to have working for you if you are outsourcing all aspects of the app. The steps in making an app involve, having the idea, how you think the app will work etc. The next thing you need to do is sketch down how the app will look on paper, and what each button will do and so on. Then you need to send these sketches to a graphic designer who will design the graphics for you. Once the graphics are completed your next step is to send then to a developer who will write the app code and transform your graphics into a work of art. Once this is complete you will be sent a test flight model of your app to your device, where you are able to use the app and see if it functions how you want it too. Finally, you will need to set up an apple developer account and submit the app to iTunes for them to review and post your app to the app store. Now that all seems like a lot to take in I’m sure, so I will break down each step for you and also the best way to go about hiring the professionals you will need to help you create your masterpiece.

Step One – Firstly, and this is the most important job, create how you want your app to look and work on pieces of paper or by using this website MOQUPS. By using this free website, you can create each screen and how you want it to look for the graphic designers. Here is a design I created for my app PE Videos App:

Once you have done these you can then find a graphic designer.

Step two – Hiring a graphic designer to turn your sketched screens or mock ups into the graphics you will use for your app. With this process it’s extremely important that you are very clear with what graphics you want and their functions. The more detail you give to the graphic artist will enable them to produce the app to the standard and quality you are looking for. Here are some of the websites that I use.

UP WORK This is actually the site I use to get my graphics and also find my developer, but I will talk about that in detail soon. On Up Work you can create an account for free and post the job that you are looking to have completed. Then graphic designers from all over the world will give you quotes at how much they will charge. My biggest tip is don’t award the job to the cheapest quote. Check out all the designers’ portfolios and pick one that has great reviews and a high quality portfolio.

99DESIGNS is another website where you go on and post the job you are after. The quality of work on 99 designs is normally a little bit better then Up Work, but it is also more expensive. Both sites offer top quality graphic designers at a fraction of the price.

FIVERR is the cheapest option and probably the most interesting. This website basically offers anything you want for just $5. Here you can get app icons, splash screens, logos and basically any sort of graphics created for $5. It is a great option if you are trying to work to a budget, but the old saying, “you get what you pay for”, might be worth remembering.

Here is one of the screen shots I had made from my mochup from the graphic designer:

Step Three – finding an app programmer to put your graphics and ideas into a working application. This step again is about selecting the right person for your job.

For all my apps I have hired through Up Work. This is the same as when you post a job for the graphics, but this time, you will include a very detailed summary about your app, how it works and what functions it needs to have. Then along with your graphics you will post them and wait to see what developer best suits what you are after. Again don’t always go for the developer who quotes the lowest price. Check out their portfolio and also their feedback, as this will give you a good indication about the quality of work they will produce.

I have been lucky in this regard, one of the first programmers I hired was very good, and he has been extremely helpful with advice and assistance with all of my future projects.

The best tip I can give you here is, once you find either a graphic designer or programmer that is very good at their job and has great communication skills and feedback, only use them.

Step Four – Once your app has been completed, and you have tested it on your device, it is time to submit this too iTunes. Again this is something that is quite complicated, so when I post my job for the programmer, I also put in the agreement that they will submit and upload the app in my account to apple. You will however need to set up a developer account with apple; this costs roughly $100 a year.

Finally, I wish you good luck, enjoy the process but don’t count on making millions overnight! Apps are a fantastic tool and can make you money, but it won’t happen overnight. If you have an idea and you know this will save you time or be useful for you in everyday life, then I’m sure others will feel the same way. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about anything I have written, I will be more than happy to help and pass on some of the things I have learnt since I made my first app over four years ago.

Do you like our podcast, we would love to hear from you, either through email or a review on iTunes. Have a great day, from Dale and the Energetic Education Team.

In today’s podcast we cover ten amazing apps that will benefit all teachers. Some of these will be house hold names, as they are truly amazing, whereas others are little gems that you have never heard of before. We have tried to give an honest description of each app and their benefits to the classroom.

Twitter

Twitter is more than just a social media site. It is an excellent way for teachers to keep parents and students updated on class progress as well as what is coming up. You can tweet assignment due dates, test dates, plan field trips, post syllabus changes, and more. It is also a great way to send out supplementary information to parents and students including links to articles and news stories. It is a simple way of allowing students to ask questions during a lecture, take and share notes with classmates. It can be used to engage in conversation with classes all over the globe.

Classroom Teammates

Classroom Teammates will bring gamification tools to your classroom and will let you create teams randomly or manually in no time. Import students from a CSV/XLS file, from Google Classroom, from your contacts, from iDoceo or Classroom Badge Maker and have your teams ready right away. Classroom Teammates is an universal app that syncs your data automatically between your devices (iPhone, iPad and iPod touch). This is the best app on the market for selecting and picking groups in the classroom, it has a number of functions to make these as fair and stress free as possible for the teacher.

Class Dojo

ClassDojo is a free app for quick and effective behaviour monitoring. Each students name and avatar is entered into the system. The app allows teachers to record both positive and negative behaviours. There are present categories including on task, helping others, no homework, and unprepared among others. You have the ability to add additional categories at your discretion. Teachers simply click the boxes that apply to each student. In addition, teachers will benefit from a quick summary of each students behaviour to refer to as needed. Finally, it prepares a pie-graph report that is sent out to parents on Fridays detailing weekly behaviour.

Slack

This is the ultimate in digital communication, this free app will change the way you communicate with everyone. You can set up class groups, teacher year groups etc. Slack also has the benefits of a Facebook group, plus wonderful integration with Google Docs and Google Hangouts if these are platforms that your school uses. We highly recommend giving slack a try.

ClassBreak

Class Break features over 200 different activities and games that are outside the traditional PE class games of kickball and volleyball. It also features team building exercises, brainteasers and more. Teachers will find this app ideal for students who are having trouble with concentration spans during boring assignments. Simply take ten minutes and allow students to participate in a few of the brain exercises to increase their focus. Additionally, many of the physical activities can be done in the classroom, which is ideal for rainy days when recess is cancelled.

Easy PD

Easy PD makes tracking of professional development easy. It tracks the number of hours that you have completed and takes a screenshot of your results for verification. Teachers will find it much easier than attempting to keep track of paper certificates. Also, records can be sent via email to the teacher or supervisor. This is just one of the amazing apps from Jarrod Robinson (The PE Geek).

Kahoots

The number one message that we promote with our teaching, workshops mentoring, is presenting learning in a game format. The app Kahtoos allows you to create a game show like atmosphere in your classroom, with amazing quizzes and tests, students can also create their own quizzes for each other. The possibilities are endless, kahoots can transform your lesson into a game show that television networks would be proud to run.

Bit Breaker

Bit Breaker is a free app, which places students into the middle of an arcade type game. Physical movements are tracked by your device and send students through a game with the goal of breaking bricks. Students will be required to move around, steer a paddle, and jump around continuously. It also incorporates video games (which many students love) with physical activity. It may encourage students that are not as interested in physical activity by allowing them to do something they enjoy.

Halftone 2 or Comic life 3

Halftone 2 or comic life 3. Both these apps allow teachers and students to easily create comic books. It includes options from font, caption styles, layouts, and stamps to allow teachers and students to showcase their creativity. It also gives them the option of incorporating their own photos into the story. Teachers will find this app is creative and fun to use in the classroom. It can be utilised in a variety of ways including creative writing assignments, demonstrating mastery of a subject, or anything else you can think of. I personally use Halftone to create posters and forms for class rules or certain skills.

Yoga Studio

Yoga Studio costs is ideal for teachers who want to incorporate yoga into their classes. It offers numerous videos to choose from and provides a demonstration of over 300 poses with detailed instructions, you can customise lessons to fit certain levels and period lengths. It can be projected onto a board to show students different yoga poses whilst allowing the teacher to walk around and make sure everyone is doing them correctly.

If you would like to view more apps that we have reviewed be sure to check out our app view blog by clicking HERE

If you have a spare two minutes we would love a review on iTunes if you are loving our podcast. Thank you very much and have a great day.

In this episode we explore a number of different jobs and professions that children can be. This is another one of our fantastic story based workout adventures. If you would like to see the workout in action simply click on the YouTube link below and see Dale perform the entire story. This is a lot of fun and is great to get studnets thinking and talking at the end of the workout about what they would like to be when they leave school.

In today’s episode I am really lucky to catch Nathan for a half hour chat before he starts his day teaching in Singapore. Nathan is someone that I have followed and had regular communication with on twitter for the past four years. We finally met in person in Dubai this year at the ‘Connected PE conference’. It was great to finally meet Nathan, and I wanted to share his journey with you.

The main area that I get asked a lot about and Nathan has done this for years, is teaching in international schools around the globe. Nathan talks about his journey starting from growing up in Tasmania in Australia, where his life was all about sport, as his mother and father lived and breathed it. He then talks about his journey from Tasmania to the UK, from the UK to Cambodia, Cambodia to Italy, and then Italy to where he currently teaches in Singapore.

If you are interested in teaching in international schools, then I would highly recommend listening to this episode. We also spoke about the amazing work he is doing on his blog and personal website ‘iPhys-Ed.com’ and the workshops/initiatives he has coming up.

If you do not follow Nathan on twitter I would change that right now, his twitter handle is @PENathan. Reach out to him and say how much you loved his interview. The other things that will be discussed are ways to engage students using go noodle, how effective ‘walk and talk’ can be with students and much much more.

You can check out Nathan’s upcoming workshops HERE.

I really hope you enjoy this episode as Nathan Horne is a gun and someone that is changing the way we think about teaching and learning. Have a great day everyone.

Everyone loves the beach, the waves, the sand and the sun all in one place. It really is a magical place to be. If you are lucky enough to live near or be able to visit a great beach in your holidays, then you will be able to relate to todays meditation.

In Australia we are extremely lucky, with some of the most amazing beaches in the world. As a kid, our family would regularly visit the beach for our summer holidays. This is where my mother Karyn Sidebottom came up with the idea to create a meditation about the magic beach. She would read me this mediation at night when I was struggling to sleep, as I loved the beach and everything that came with it.

Today you can do exactly the same thing with your children. Simply play this short meditation, let them relax and go on a journey to the magical beach. Let them fully relax and focus on the most amazing beach in the world.
