Rest such a wonderful word but not yielded to much. It is said that people who work an 8 hour day or shift are only really productive 3 hours out of that day. Also, that working long hours can lead to an increase of 48% chance of getting heart disease. You see grabbing hold of the concept of rest is valuable and important.
Did you know that moving forward into our inheritance in Christ has given us west. As we revisit our theme this year of Thriving obtaining the success by following the word of God. We must be careful lest we fail to believe God's word, fo it is only as the word is, "mixed with faith" that it can accomplish your forward movement and rest.
The inheritance given to Israel was the land God promised them. The promise started with Abraham and the owner God gave the land to Israel for his purpose. As long as they where obedient and held fast to him they would obtain possession of the land. We also share in the inheritance of God. In order for us to move forward we have to know who we are and who's inheritance we have obtain. Or better yet who has redeemed us and brought us out of the furnace of Iron and Sin to be a people of his inheritance.
It is no doubt in my mind we have seen many ups and downs and this years. When preparing for 2016 I did not know what would befall us coming into the New Year. I really believed in our theme of Thriving. The deal was plain in simple if we submit to God and his word we would have great success. But this year it seemed that great success was far off. As i revisited the passage to prepare to finish strong I was overwhelmed with many emotions. Because all I could see and hear was Moving Forward. There are many passages that discuss moving forward. Jesus in his discussion in Luke 9:62 says "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God". In it's context it deals with Would-Be followers.
Paul tells us he presses toward the mark in Phil. In it's context it deals with fighting until the end. In Hebrews the great OT and NT parallel of entering the Rest that Jesus has provides is a sense of moving forward. Whatever it may be this theme of moving forward and not looking back is the mind of God.
Forgiveness can be very tough for the believer. But we believe that forgiveness is highly important Vertically and Horizontally. That is with Jesus The Christ and your fellow Christian and Co-Laborer. We will take a look at Joseph as he is an important Patriarch and example of true forgiveness.
It is necessary that both hearing and doing the word is important. You see a foundation has to be built. When building a house the foundation is very important, you have to go through a process for stability. Prepare the Ground, Build A Frame, Mix and Pour The Foundation, and Finish up. Listen to gain more insight.
The church wasn’t established only as a place of instruction. Neither was it created to be a theater for public performances. In fact the early Christian church didn’t meet in buildings, they met in homes. Therefore God established the church as a family of believers - The Body of Christ. It’s a community for spiritual connection where people connect with God vertically and connect with others horizontally. - Dr. Tony Evans
Because we know why we are the church and there is no other place to go outside of Jesus. We understand that He is our source and that we must now be his hands and feet. He wants us, We should want Others, He loves us, We should LOVE Others.
Being in physical captivity is not comfortable but, when you are in inner, mental, emotional captivity you are in torture. Everything around you becomes frustrating. We have a Great Physician and his name is Jesus. He not only specializes in physical healing but he also specializes in soul healing.
To prepare for these sermons we encourage you to read Nehemiah Chapters 1-5. The heart and passion of Nehemiah to see a problem and provide a solution through prayer and action is the true heart of a leader. Facing external conflict and internal conflict but handling it by submitting to God and persistent prayer brought forth revival. Do you need the ruins of your life Revived? This this is the message for you.
The deal is no matter what we must totally depend on God. For he is our preserver and our banner. In times of hunger and in times of ambush from our enemies we must rally behind Jehovah Nissi (Our Banner) and remember the name of the Lord! He will provide and he will fight for us!
Complainers never win when your mind is still stuck in the past. If God is moving you forward embrace the new level, become the student and do not look back. Heaven is trying to open your mind to the new way!
As we enter into the wilderness we must understand that, "He led them forth by the right way." We would read this story and say how could this be the right way? Well when God is leading you with a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night you are going the right way. Therefore we have to let him turn your bitterness into sweetness.
PastorJ opens the Wilderness Series by encouraging believers to Focus on The Covenant. We learn that the Israelites Exodus out of Egypt into the wilderness was a powerful display of God. But with the revelation leading them by the right way and seeing their enemy drowned in the sea they loose focus of the covenant promise God gave to them. Have you lost focused? Is seeing defeat an indication that you are defeated?
