God's ways are so much greater than our ways. We become dependent on ourselves and our own abilities, and are driven by the idea that we have to reach our full potential. Create spiritual discipline, by finding a place where you can be in that isolation everyday. God frequently communicates with us, and sometimes it's very obvious. More often than not though, he is more subtle and whispers. Create a space where you can hear that.
In scripture, prayer always accompanies fasting, but fasting is not always accompanied by prayer. The Bible tells us when we fast, we must pray. When someone loves themselves more then God, their center of gravity shifts from God to Sin. Being religious does not mean being righteous. God's standard isn't good, it's perfection. We all fall short of that standard but He still loves us. You can not earn your salvation because you did not deserve it to begin with. Who is Jesus? That is the most important question you can ask yourself. No one can answer that for you. Not someone close to you, but by your own definition and understanding. If there was ever someone who should put their agenda before anyone else, that would be Jesus. Verse 28 says, "even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve."
Our eye can become evil because of how we view his love and grace. Remember that only fools appeal to God for justice then for grace. None of us are worthy on our own. Join Pastor Jacob Bauder as we take a look at Matthew Chapter 20, where the master of a house goes to hire laborers for his vineyard. Verse 16 says that the last will be first, and the first last. How can someone who idolizes a sin receive the same mercy and grace as me? What matters is not our past, but our faith in Christ who fulfills our future.
Even when everything is under siege, and you feel like you are all alone. Remember what love is to you and who gives it. Love believes in you, pushes you, is there for you, and will wait for you. That is not how love works.
Always save your best self for when you are at home with your spouse. God calls us love others like ourselves. One body, one unit. That is God's design. If we as people who follow Jesus feel like we can go through life alone, and carry that mindset into our marriage. Then we are not as strong and fulfilled as God wanted us to be.
Show your significant other how much you love them everyday. Do not wait until there is too much distance, big change, or regret. Tell them exactly what you love about them. Never reject but redirect. See the best in your someone. Rediscover what made you fall in love with them in the first place.
Do not store up treasures for yourself that do not last. Store up treasures in heaven, were things cannot be broken or stolen. For wealth will not follow you to the grave. Yet God sees them and takes care of them. How much more valuable are you?
The goal of parenting is not to raise great kids, it's to raise great adults. Remember that every single day is an opportunity to help them grow and model towards christ. More is caught then taught. What do we do when our relationship no longer feels enticing or inspiring? Encourage yourself not to quit, put the work in. Take your relationships seriously. We are not just material beings, but also inmaterial because of our soul, and our personalities. We have priorities and non-negotiable's. Make God as the center of the relationship one of those. Never forsake love to find romance.
Relationships are hard, and that is nothing new. Every relationship has two selfish people. How do we have healthy productive relationships? Life is easier when you are single. it is perfectly fine being single, don't let society tell you there is something wrong. Never settle, and never feel like you have to sacrifice your morals.
If we follow God's plan, it will lead us to great relationships full of love and accountability. We have desires, we are sinful, and start to think that God's plan for us isn't right. Leverage your platform you have to proclaim the message of Jesus as Paul did to everyone on the ship.
Live a life through God that demands to be noticed. Tell your story, and leverage on the opportunities God gives you to do so. Remember that God is able to more than we could ever imagine. Anything is possible through Him.
We have all done things to get people to like us. What in your life have you done, to get people to like you? Join Pastor Jacob Bauder as we continue the story of Paul being imprisoned by a new leader Porcius Festus in Acts Chapter 25. Paul finds himself being accused of many charges he did not do. Lean on God and not your own understanding. He knows who you are, and what you are capable of.
The message of Jesus can be divisive. What we know to be true can separate us from others. Remember to love everyone we encounter, and welcome them in. As we walk through life, never count your critics or praises. Always weigh them both, as you grow in your relationship with Christ.
