In the first episode of season 3, I'm introducing you to the intimate space of a private coaching call. Listen in as a new client learns to navigate the common question of "What is purpose anyway?". Due to my client not having a professional microphone, the audio is different but the value is here. Part ONE consists of the beginning of these concepts regarding the relativity to finding one's purpose. Each person's will be different in my coaching practice, with that being said, I teach that purpose is like the essence of what you love doing - in action. Join us as I ask a variety of interesting questions, and be sure to tune into Part TWO and discover how I tie it all together with a deeper meaning than you might realize!

"Welcome to the to the end of the beginning, my friends. You hear about it in diets and addiction. You hear about it in toxic relationships and you see it happen in the movies. People make massive changes and proclamations that they are DONE living life the way that they’ve been settling for...and then; they go back.

People often give up ahead of time and end up not trying at all because they use this as evidence as to why it’s not possible for them. For example: Im not going to diet because then Ill just gain it back anyway or the infamous, Maybe I just like the bad guys, the good ones are too boring or hard to find. Insert eye roll

In business it can look like, Im not going to apply, theres no way theyre going to hire me or I hate feeling like a gross salesman. On all of these occasions we have a common denominator.

They all fail ahead of time."

"Maybe you’re looking for validation, maybe you’ve already done the work, or maybe you haven’t dug deeply into this part yet, but committing to personal or professional development and growth does not mean that the rest of your life will continue to get easier or that nothing will ever go wrong again.

What I most commonly see is that by doing this work you have the ability to control how you feel in your own world regardless of what happens IN the world. Living your life on purpose and living your life with purpose sound like some really cliché tagline’s from a coach who’s about to tell you to fix your mindset by annihilating your limiting beliefs.

To be clear, I say, living your life on purpose and living your life with purpose. I don’t say, live your life perfectly or else…I mean I used to say that to myself, but we all know how that one turned out. We are human and we are subjected to the human experience and regardless of how messy it gets, the purpose factor doesn’t have to change. It can though, because not everybody chooses to live with purpose. And some people lose their purpose. Despite suffering or success, purpose can still exist; before, during, and after massive growth."

"During and after settling into who you’re becoming you’ll become increasingly aware of the change you create around yourself. As you align yourself with this new self perspective and lifestyle, you will be presented with a new and shiny set of choices and you’ll have thoughts about these choices. You can remain ahead of the curve in the evolution of your higher self by being aware of how you’re going to process any and all change that happens around you while being double aware of the thoughts you’re having about it. You’re gonna have to excuse me because I don’t have a fancier word for that one yet.

What happens next is about intentionally choosing what pieces of change you want, accepting it into your life, and deciding how you wanna feel about it."

"After struggling for a while you’ll find yourself in a place where you acknowledge that you are, indeed, becoming the woman you set out to become. You’ll begin to feel inspired and driven more days then you’ll feel uncomfortable. In fact, discomfort does not become something that you fight, resist, or run away from anymore. It becomes a part of the normal rhythm and flow you’ll find yourself in. This is where you go from shedding the old skin to really stepping into the new and shiny self that you’ve allowed to come to the forefront of your life."

"How you fuel your body will either help or hinder your goals.

Let’s take a second and reflect back on the fact that my mom passed away from preventable disease and my father is a recovering alcoholic. So, go ahead and get cozy, because this next chapter means a lot to me and I’ve got a lot to say.

We have talked about creating a nourishing environment for your mind, and now I'd like to get intentional about how to fuel it physiologically. We are the keeper of our minds, spirits, and bodies. We must commit to being an advocate for ourselves in all case scenarios. This is a lesson I stick to, not because I lost 100 pounds and think a bikini body is priority, but because of my family's medical history. I learned that I'm prone to type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, and certain types of cancer. It wasn't until the loss of my mom, my uncles heart attack, and my fathers major heart surgery that I decided to do something about it."

"As you learn to create the thoughts that are going to be creating the results in your life, you are bound to be filled with ideas and future challenges to take on. This chapter will be about organizing those new and intentional ideas and implementing the goal action that goes right along with them.

Not everyone who goes through the personal development process wants to start a business, run a marathon, or change the world, but it can become a side effect, so fair warning. Sometimes they just want to change their own world...and that’s what this is about.

All of this, every single part of this book, is here to help set anyone up with a foundation to balance and grow real success in any part of their life. As your environment changes both in and outside of your mind, you will begin to gather information that sparks the thinking about your future and what’s possible. It's pretty normal to start dreaming up lofty ideas of training for marathons, having abs, traveling the world, making millions of dollars, or something of this equivalent to you.

I want you to know that I will never, EVER, tell you that anything is too ambitious for you to chase, but I will tell you that there’s a strategic way to get there. You can be sloppy and make it more likely to struggle mentally, or you can set a plan in place to bring these things to life. You choose."

"When people believe in you…or not…do it anyway.

Eventually, you will have real people in your life who support you. Even if it’s just yourself for now, and if you don’t know it already, that’s actually all you need.

Be careful here not to give your power away to bitterness, we have to remember that sometimes others can't access their creativity, drive, or courage yet. It takes these things, and more, to cultivate success and belief from nothing but an idea or a dream. Then, when people do begin to believe in you and share your big wins, you will experience some thoughts lingering around your head like; why did it take so long for them to believe it was possible for me?

You might feel angry, sad, upset, bitter, or some other flavor of resentment. If this happens, remember to see and appreciate the differences between who you are and who they are. Allow them to live their life, and remember that they have no obligation to think or feel how you see fit. You’ll start creating meaningful relationships by accepting the exchange of energy you'll receive from people that you intentionally place into your life." - We Can Do Extraordinary Things, by Jessica Mejia

"When you’re correctly utilizing anticipation and strategy instead of emotions like anxiety and constant worry that things might go wrong, you’ll be ready and willing to rise again. When you experience a loss of momentum, inspiration, creativity, and even courage seems fleeting; you must take action and have a plan in place for a rescue mission.

You see, people might think that this book is all about what’s next, or all about how grand things will be on the other side but it’s never better there than it is here. In both places you’ll be stuck with the same brain, and that little lady requires constant supervision. The magic behind becoming lies within the fact that you are always becoming, like right now and tomorrow and in two weeks from now. She’s not defined by the hit. She’s defined within the moments between every hit and every get up, and the audacity to shine again anyway. It’s the only reason why your dreams will come true one day. In the process of becoming, we cannot lose sight of our self-love, appreciation, dignity, and respect for the people we are during the pain, the suck, and the setback." -We Can Extraordinary Things, by Jessica Mejia

" Always Have Your Own Back

A support system, wouldn’t that be nice? This does not mean forcing people to take part in what you’re doing, or making the mistake I made, which was thinking that their lack of involvement meant they don’t love you. Oh please, don't do that. Save yourself the trouble…My sister and I had a whole come to Jesus over that one.

Now is the time, if you don’t already know, to hold on to the truth that people can still love you and not share your dream, or the courage to chase them. Or maybe they don’t understand it or know where to start. Stop expecting people to read your mind…it just doesn’t work that way.

This is about a different kind of support system. A system that you create to empower you along the way. More of like a neural network outside of your mind. Who can help you learn how to do what you’re wanting to do? Who are the people you can surround yourself with and ask questions with, that won’t take your energy but, will build it up? "This is where we step into awareness about everything that surrounds us as we set out to create massive change in our lives.

I like to remind my clients that you don’t have to plant a weed for them to grow in your garden.

To create a nourishing environment for your mind is to cherish the thoughts and activities that help it grow while remaining vigilant and mindful of the ones you let in. We can't allow access to those who are only there to pick our best flowers.

From the music you listen to, and the conversations you overhear, to the plot in the latest show you’re watching; there’s an intention behind every single one." - We Can Do Extraordinary Things, by Jessica Mejia

"As time has passed, I’ve learned to make my process sustainable while always being ready for, and open to, new ways of doing things. Yes, I have stumbled. I have stuttered. I have hesitated. I have fallen down the stairs on the Miss Missouri stage, while in a swimsuit. I have forgotten the words to a song with an audience staring at me in disbelief and I’ve been the butt of jokes on the local news channel. I have mentally and emotionally struggled, and I have literally died. Overtime I have created the story that I was supposed to experience every single one of those moments.

“Life is simple. Everything happens for you, not to you. Everything happens at exactly the right moment, neither too soon nor too late. You don’t have to like it… it’s just easier if you do.” - Byron Katie

When we think of any moment as exactly where we’re supposed to be. It’s more likely to create that forward momentum in our brains, than it is likely to be used against us."

"People won’t believe it. It will get uncomfortable. You will want to quit. You will doubt yourself and you’ll fear hateful comments because it will validate the disbelief you have in yourself. You will change your surroundings and people will think things about it and judge you for it. You are special, but trust me, you were not the first person that this has happened to.

If you are nodding your head or your eyes are welled up with tears it’s because you likely already faced some of this. Maybe you’re going through it right meow. You may have already lost some friends, relationship dynamics will change, and you’ll question yourself as a good friend, a good sister, a good daughter, a good wife, and a good mom.

Eventually, you will believe in yourself. You will see yourself do things you’ve never done before! You’ll see yourself get up even though you thought you never could. You’ll see yourself stand up for what’s right and what you believe in. You will see yourself become an example of what’s possible." - We Can Do Extraordinary Things

"How do we use our brains FOR ourselves and not AGAINST ourselves?

How do we make sure that our hearts desires remain a priority and don’t get placed on the back burner of life again?

At some point you may have found yourself surrounded with the broken pieces of life, standing there feeling like it’s solely up to you to put the pieces back together. This is not out of victimhood, or thinking, everything bad happens to me." - We Can Do Extraordinary Things

"I once read in Untamed, by Glennon Doyle, that she summoned strength from a small quote on the wall of an elementary school that her children attended. It read, we can do hard things. Actually, she’s got a podcast about it now. I fell in love with it on the spot. One day it would play a key role and morph into my own affirmation.

Sometime before this, I found myself listening to The Life Coach School Podcast, by Brooke Castillo. I was bursting at the seams with the temptation to believe that I could do something my old self would think was impossible, knowing that it would be an extraordinary feat, but that I could make the impossible POSSIBLE." - We Can Do Extraordinary Things

"This particular lesson is about how the period of “breakdown” is the process of literally breaking down your old identity, thoughts, habits, and actions with grace. Not gracefully, perfectly, and beautifully, but allowing yourself grace. Otherwise, you’ll have new thoughts that can sneak up on you and flip your shit with the quickest onset of impostor syndrome you’ve ever felt. Who am I kidding, that will happen anyway, but the grace part sounds good doesn't it? As people begin to notice your change, sure, they might judge you. Okay, I’m on a roll here, they will totally judge you, and you’ll most certainly dip a toe into the worst-self-critic-pool yourself and if you’re not mindful you might completely fall in."

"I mention throughout this book about the times that people have asked me what did you do to get where you are.

How did I create such massive change in my life within 10 months like I did that one time?

Whether it has to do with, building a business, finding confidence, discovering my identity, being a young mom overcoming postpartum depression, feeling unstoppable, creating financial stability, or doing all of the above without losing my balance; people like this want the answer that provides instantaneous results."

This chapter goes into the idea that journey is not about the easiest way to get from point A to point to B, it's actually about the experience of the steps it takes to get there...

"Did you ever have a certain feeling like you were being pulled to something greater? A feeling so strong that it gravitates you towards a vision that sometimes pulls you into another world? One that doesn’t even exist…yet.

Yeah, Me too.

Your calling. Your intuition. That gut feeling. Your purpose.

It’s got as many names as Santa Claus and God, and even though we call it different things, many of us feel it, are compelled by it, and know that extraordinary things fall into place when we don’t resist it."
