Why does Hollywood keep remaking movies? The answer will utterly shock you. (No, really—it’s not what you think.) This lightning-fast episode spills the truth in under 30 seconds.
Rave reviews are pouring in from the finest small businesses:
Take it from these highly trustworthy sources, folks. Listen now before Hollywood remakes this episode.
In this episode, we revisit the world of Lilo & Stitch — comparing the 2002 animated original with Disney’s 2025 live-action remake. From voices and visuals to cuts, angles, music cues, and even product placement, we talk through what lands, what doesn’t, and how each version brings something different to the table. Whether you watch for the heartfelt themes or the quirky chaos, there’s plenty here to unpack.

Bradley goes lone wolf and tells you why he thought Superman 2025 was not as good as he was hoping.
In this lively episode, the Gen X Reverb crew dives into Kenny and Hope’s epic cruise through the Mexican Riviera— hear about breathtaking views, shipboard fun, port excursions, and more! 🌊🚢 Then we pivot to the silver screen and break down what’s ahead in entertainment and movies over the next few years — from franchise revivals to risky originals. 🎬
Whether you're a travel junkie, film buff, or just want to hang with your favorite Gen X voices, this one’s got something for everyone.
I saw the How to Train Your Dragon live-action remake… and I have thoughts.
In this episode, I unpack why this remake felt like a clunky cosplay of the original. From jarring diversity choices in a Viking village, to Gobber’s wild prosthetic downgrade, to live-action humans moving like they’re dodging foam axes at a Renaissance fair—it’s all here.
I talk about:
• Why DEI casting broke immersion
• Why the animation >>> live-action
• Nick Frost as Gobber (and why I miss Craig Ferguson)
• Mason Thames as Hiccup vs. Jay Baruchel
• The awkward parent moment in the fire trial scene
• And why scene-for-scene remakes can feel like lazy cinema
Don’t worry, it’s not all fire and brimstone—I give credit where it’s due: Gerard Butler still brings the heat, and Julian Dennison made me laugh out loud.
If you saw the remake, you’ll get it. If you haven’t… maybe just rewatch the 2010 classic.
🎧 Press play and let’s talk dragons, diversity, and why not everything needs a live-action reboot.
Sorry, toward the end, all we could do is fade out. We'll make the next episode fun and fire!
“Can’t say I remember no At Attin”
Skeleton Crew Episode 4 – Filler But Still Engaging
In the world of episodic TV shows, filler episodes can sometimes feel like they’re just padding out the season. However, Skeleton Crew Episode 4, “Can’t Say I Remember At Atin,” stands out as an interesting yet somewhat unnecessary chapter in the overall storyline. Justin and Bradley sat down to discuss this episode and found themselves with differing reactions.
While both agree this is indeed a filler episode, Bradley admits that the show made him feel “some type of way” about the direction it took. Despite its lack of major plot developments, there are still key moments and character dynamics that kept him engaged.
Justin shares that while he wasn’t expecting a groundbreaking episode, he found it enjoyable enough to hold attention.
In true Gen X fashion, they wrapped up the review with a fun look back at the Konami Code — a cheat code that became a symbol of gaming culture. What better way to close out an episode than with a nod to the good old days of gaming? And what better way to commemorate that moment than with a K-Code t-shirt?
Want to join in on the fun? Check out the K-Code shirt here.
In this episode of Gen X Reverb, Justin and Brad dive into the much-anticipated Superman trailer, directed by James Gunn, sharing their reactions and thoughts. From the nostalgic buzz surrounding the iconic superhero to their own hot takes, they chat it up. They also discuss Phoenix Suns Owner Matt Ishbia's introduction of a new $2 value menu at Footprint Center, a move aimed at providing fans with affordable options at games. The guys also break down Frontier Airline's "Free" flight sale and what it really means. Recorded on Saturday, December 21, 2024, this episode covers pop culture, sports news, and travel in a lively and engaging discussion.

Hello all and thank you for listening. There is no intro or outro to this episode. A few of our listeners have been wondering when we are going to get a new episode up so as I was driving home yesterday, I was thinking, "Let's just do some hot takes and upload." I sent a text to the GXR blokes and voilla, here you have it: Another Hot Takes episode.
Be warned that there is a bit of sadness in this episode as we talk a bit about the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas that occurred on May 24, 2022. As you more than likely know, there was a school shooting and we discuss the moral implication of violent video games for a second. We are saddened by the deaths of the persons at the school and also for the emptiness that the family is left to deal with.
We talk Obi-Wan, She-Hulk, Jurassic World Dominion, and Bradley wonders why Uncle Owen didn't recognize someone in Star Wars Episode IV.

So we recently went to Disneyland & California Adventure and it wasn’t just the Gen X Reverb crew. It was a bunch of our family. Aunts, uncles, cousins, wives, and children (Well, wives and children of course. Right?) So we decided to record a post-Disney Vacation trip report and we’ve got that brew’n up, but it's not yet ready.
Here is another episode for you to enjoy.
We went back. Waaaaaaaaaay back into our archives. Archives that are not even of THIS podcast. An archive from our previous podcast, Old Republic Radio. It was a Star Wars podcast. (We grew up watching Wookies, Tauntauns, and troopers on Speeder bikes hissing through the woods on The Moon of Endor. Can you blame us for being fans and podcasting about it?). Ken is visiting WDW Resort while we record, so it's just Mark, Bradley & Justin on this particular episode.

We discuss shopping back when we were children and teens (Some of you listeners are children or teens now probably or from the BabyBoom. Welcome!) as opposed to shopping in the modern world.
We open up with this Tweet from Felicity @FlossAus: “I feel sorry for Netflix era kids. They will never know the high stakes adrenaline of running to the bathroom/fridge/ bedroom in a single ad break, with the beckoning call of a sibling screaming “i’s ONNNNNN” to send you hurdling over furniture to get back in time.”
Opening Banter
The meat of the episode

A little Jean-Luc. Some Benny Sisko and Janeway. New Trek. Old Trek. Just Trek banter. Oh, and we call fans 'Trekies' instead of the newly accepted moniker, 'Trekers'. Our bad.

Lost episode! Quick note: We've had a few conversations with fans that comment on how long the episodes are, so instead of releasing this chat as one episode, we've broken it up into two for your listing delight. It's 56 days until NFL Kick off in 2021 and nothing will get you more excited than talking about... Super Bowl Halftime Shows. Jump in as we discuss halftime shows from the last couple of decades. We take a lot of shots at probably some of the biggest performers in our modern era. But that doesn't matter to Gen-X Reverb! Thanks for listening. We didn't have a real aim with his episode, so we just ran all over the place. I mean, we pretty much do that anytime we record. But this was legit just a free-for-all, therapeutic, fun-time of laughter and serious talk with the guys. We'd like to pay utmost respect to the late Chadwick Boseman who'd passed the day we recorded this episode.

We are talking Batman... again on Gen-X Reverb. Why? Because we love Batman? Nope... Mark and Justin missed out on the Bonus Episode that Bradley and Ken did. So they wanted to join in the fun. Can lightning strike in the same place twice? We'll let you decide. But first, we have a quick game of name that tune or as Ken knows it, continued reminders that he might have been adopted. Answers to the name that tune will appear at the bottom of the show notes after a spoiler disclaimer.
Kenny confesses that he just doesn't care for R&B.
Bradley isn't opposed. Justin and Mark are definitely fans.
Bradley is hosting this round-robin episode and we start out talking about our first exposure to Batman. The 1960s classic starring Adam West.
Bradley doubles down on the fact that we are discussing all things Batman (spoiler alert: We didn't even come close)
Here is the video that Bradley was referring to: Check out all the Celebrity Window Cameo's in the series: https://youtu.be/WmyCgHyiNcE
Justin admits... he doesn't remember the series much.
Moving on to Batman (1989) - Michael Keaton
Everyone agrees it's a great movie and really set the standard for the movies that followed.
Batman Returns (1992) - Michael Keaton
We all agreed this seemed to be the beginning of Batman descent toward the absurd. We don't need our Catwoman lapping up milk... Justin (again ,the Gen-X who was most interested in revisiting Batman. Didn't care for it)
We derail briefly to discuss Sky Cap'n. If you haven't seen it. Skip it.
Batman Forever(1995) - Val Kilmer
Val Kilmer received the most accolades in our non-scientific Instagram poll.
Justin-Didn't like it.
This is the introduction of Bat-Nips!
Batman&Robin(1997)
This one was just bad...
https://youtu.be/3M8FC7uZj3M
We actually decided later to end the episode here. While resident nerd, Ken , could passionately defend the Dark Knight trilogy, we agreed it wasn't exactly a fun trilogy and decided in order to keep things upbeat to cut it here.
Thanks for Listening!

An important note. Gen-X Reverb is at its core, a talk show. We do not claim to be nor do we try to be experts. This is simply a group of cousins who grew up together reminiscing about all the things that impacted us during our childhood. Often times we will bring something up to stimulate conversation and hope things make a turn for the funny. Rarely will we do a TON of research beforehand. But normally we do at least a little research... except for Justin. He likes to be surprised. If we got something wrong, please reach out to us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram and drop some knowledge on us.
Also thanks to our Sound Engineer Justin for FINALLY helping us get our sound issues resolved.
In this episode, we discussed foods and snacks that came to mind when growing up.
In this episode, we discovered that Mark was a sensible kid. His frozen confection choices are based on time vs taste and experience and though Choco Tacos were a waste of money Kenny disagrees.
Kenny thinks crunchy cookies are an abomination
Justin begs that you take pride in your banana pudding.
Oreos has had a million flavors and most are not good
Did Kenny make up Hot n Now? Nope: https://bit.ly/3kZLCXg
Justin shares his recipe for... Chocodiles?
Bradley apparently grew up in the 1880s and he remembers black licorice and liver and onions making a regular appearance. Poor guy.

Imagine you're a kid again. What's your perfect Saturday Morning cereal and cartoon lineup?
Mark drops some knowledge on why station wagons started to lose popularity in the early 1980s.
But first they start off with a little name that tune. Cartoon edition.
During the discussion Justin mentions his favorite podcast “How I Built This” and a specific episode featuring Haim Saban producer and distributors of some of our favorite shows bit.ly/HaimSabanWiki .
Bradley soapboxes about his hatred of cheesy 80s “church vocals” and “granola” bands. Also his dislike of Billy Joel thanks to songs like ‘For the Longest Time’ https://youtu.be/a_XgQhMPeEQ (warning, you’ll be humming this for a week)
Per usual Ken comes with some useless facts and trivia. A study was done to show just how powerful the Marketing behind McDonalds is: bit.ly/McDonaldsTaste
