A Tailer Trash Fly Fishing Conservation Conversation With Jessy Wayles From One LagoonJoin the cast of Tailer Trash Fly Fishing for a very informative conversation with Jessy Wayles about a myriad of topics related to conservation and restoration work that is being completed in the Indian River Lagoon.Jessy works for One Lagoon, our branch of the National Estuary Program. The organization is a sub-agency funded by The Environmental Protection Agency. Their mission is to coordinate activities related to restoration and conservation efforts in and around the entire Indian River Lagoon. Their jurisdiction spans multiple counties and includes our inland estuary from the Tomoka Basin to the north to Stuart at the south end of the IRL.We learned a lot about the guidelines that are in place for research and the means and methods of how restoration sites are selected and the required monitoring that is part of the grant process.Additionally we discussed tagging programs for horseshoe crabs, sea grass nurseries that recently received funding as well as clam projects that are expanding. We hope you'll listen to the podcast in hopes that you'll better understand activities that you may see that are ongoing in our local waters as well as learn how to be involved in a productive and constructive manner beyond social media. If you have questions for her that were not covered in our chat, feel free to contact her through her email at OneLagoon.com

2021 is here and we survived to tell the tale. Tailer Trash Fly Fishing resumed its tradition of storytelling and unedited reporting on the latest and often not so greatest underbelly of fly fishing culture and entertainment.

Andrew joins us for a segment to help tell the story of Peacocking with Ben in South Florida. He also reveals the discovery of a cove filled with tailing carp in Middle Tennessee.

Ted joins us to talk logistics, it’s what he does. He shares how his first summer in the Gaspe` wrapped up at Camp McGregor and includes his experience with the Anchored Outdoors’ April Vokey master class on spey casting. If you are considering signing up, which we recommend, please consider using the link on our website. (We get a little beer money if you do!)

The big topic with Ted is of course the 2020 Dinghy Derby & Poker Run. If you’re far, far away and still have an interest in supporting the cause, you can donate via the Venmo listed over on the Tailer Trash Fly Fishing website.

We’re looking forward to November 7, 2020. We can’t wait to meet a lot of you and raise as much money as possible to support Marine Discovery Center.

The band is back together. Join us as we catch up on recent travels, reminisce about school field trips from back in the day and kick around random topics from the luxurious confines of the double wide trailer.

Plans are made for 2021 fly fishing goals and they're about as oxymoronic as jumbo shrimp.

You’ll also hear a 2020 Dinghy Derby update, Tailer Trash Fly Fishing Film Festival update and holiday gift ideas at the Tailer Trash web store.

As the rain fell and the flood water continued to rise, the Tailer Trash crew sat down around the Old Oak Table to record yet another installment from the Tailer Park.

Ben caught us up on his recent binge drinking in upstate South Carolina, the plastic hatches on the Pacolet River and tater tots.

Jamieson shares details from his first gator hunt and a trip to Georgia to visit his uncle’s hunt camp.

Carl takes us along for the ride on a recent trip back to his old stomping grounds for a bachelor party.

Larry reports on the flood tide action he recently had in North Florida.

The guys discuss the value of getting a subscription to Anchored Outdoors to gain access to vetted expert content.

We also talked about if bucket lists really exist and what exactly they are...

Hope you enjoy the white noise, the frogs seemed to...

Episode 52 is rare matinee session in the Tailer Park. High on Velveeta cheese based queso dip, the full cast of malcontents discuss a wide ranging number of topics. A review / recommendation on the Mill House Podcast & Flip’s YouTube Channel somehow leads to one of our longer shows in a while.

Sit back, keep an open mind and listen along as four guys in a double wide trailer solve the world’s problems and opine on everything that matters.

To start the evening off, Ben shares his best pick-up strategies at home improvement stores. Make sure you’re prepared to take notes!

Marc and Larry share a little bit about their recent fly fishing foray in the NIRL. Larry recaps his trip to East Tennessee, where he fished with Robert King from The South Holston River Fly Shop.

As the water quality plunges to something akin to chocolate milk in most of Mosquito Lagoon, the conversation turns to the difference between areas where guides self-police their ranks and how they value and advocate on behalf of the waters where they work and those that don’t.

A T2F2 episode wouldn’t be complete without some observations on recent social media, so true to form Nautilus Fly Reel’s recent visit to the White House and the subsequent fall out on Instagram is examined in detail.

A deadline for the Tailer Park Fly Fishing Film Festival is set for the end of August.

The Yard Sale is open! As Frank Bartles would say; “…and thank you for your support.”

A big thanks to Leslin O. for her support of the podcast by sending the Mail Barge by laden with some sweet Montana brews.

We’re a little giddy over the fact that we’ve reached Episode 50 of the podcast. If you’ve listened from the beginning, you know it’s actually more than that, but who’s counting… Unfortunately, Carl was a victim of the weather, a stomach bug or something, so he missed the festivities. Andrew was able to join us remotely from Tennessee, which was great, he’s been a part of the podcast from before the rebellion to Episode Zero and beyond.

Actual fly fishing was discussed / lies were told to reminisce about recent outings around Mosquito Lagoon and the beaches of the panhandle.

Piña Coladas lead to a teachable moment regarding “The Walk of Shame” vs. “The Walk of Fame”.

We reviewed: Pabst Blue Ribbon Presents: The Greatest Beer Run Ever

Episode 50’s pre-show dinner was prepared on the new Fire Disk & we share our initial thoughts on how it performs.

The Mail Barge paid a visit to the Tailer Park to bring news regarding #PopperGate

Don’t forget to visit the Bilge to get Larry Littrell’s review of Aaron Reed’s new book, Fly Fishing Austin and Central Texas. When you do, sign up for a chance to win a free copy.

As always, there’s more to discover in the episode.

Along with the Saharan dust cloud, stifling heat blanketed the Tailer Park, so we left the Traeger tucked away and opted for pizza from the best joint in NSB for a pre-show meal.

Marc is on vacation, so Jameison joined us to help keep the Old Oak Table balanced. We were stoked to get to meet his new red boned hound, Waylon; and we're pretty sure he liked podcast night too.

Larry ran through some of his recent fly fishing adventures and mis-adventures in South FL and the Keys for peacock bass, bonefish and snapper.

Ted joined us for an update from north of the border and to answer listener questions about random Canadiana. Before we wrapped up, the conversation turned into a planning and strategy session that could very well lead to an international incident.

We wrap up shortly after a quick round table of the usual nonsense and a review of the first submission received for the Tailer Park Fly Fishing Film Festival.

Turns out there is light at the end of the Carlrona tunnel. To be prepared for the return to normalcy, we convened a meeting in the Tailer Park to restore order to the beer fridge and to gorge on tasty treats fresh off the Traeger.

Once we were tuned up, we kicked around our thoughts and experiences about the non-pandemic pandemic, one-way shopping lanes and our hopes for the future.

On the conservation front, we discuss a recent "Everglades" call to action that is devoid of details but big on hype. Apparently, it pays well to gaslight certain causes...
