September Is International Podcast Month (IPM)! IPM is a collaborative event where podcasters come together to create unique episodes that are released throughout the month of September on the IPM RSS feed. This month-long event celebrates the podcasting community! It’s a wonderful opportunity for podcasters to cross-promote, celebrate each other, and share the love of podcasting with the world. We’re bringing creators together to generate incredible content this September.
With a focus on marginalized creators, we're building communities, sharing listeners, and boosting each other's voices. As in past years, IPM features a collaboration of many diverse and inclusive podcasting folks on Audio Fiction/Audio Drama Minisodes, Creator Conversation Episodes, Coming Soon Features, Non-Fiction Episodes, RPG Actual-Play One-Shots, and a month-long blog. The Non-Fiction and Audio Fiction episodes are special minisodes made by their creators and casts, while the RPG Actual-Play One-Shots are made up of a variety of creators across the podcasting medium who have gotten together just for their one episode (though whether or not they decide to continue their campaigns is up to them!).

Bird Woman, Sacajawea is magical realism, multi-episode audio drama series, set in the vast early untouched West. On our journey, Bird Woman, Sacajawea, a native American woman discovers her supernatural powers as, part Woman and part Eagle. Bird Woman fights alongside the Lewis & Clark Expeditioners while making heart-wrenching choices between the Native world and the expedition’s world. Upon the birth of her child “Pomp,” she discovers her transmigrating powers as Bird Woman, part woman, and part eagle. With her emerging powers, she finds her own lost tribe and leads the Lewis and Clark Expedition through terrifying starvation, freezing mountain ranges, and uncharted western territories to the Pacific Ocean.
In our audio drama, Sacajawea returns to tell her story. Captured and raised by the Mandan tribe, she discovers that Lewis and Clark are looking for a translator when the expedition winters at the Mandan Village in the Northwest. The Captains are shocked when the tribal elders persuade Lewis and Clark, that they must take pregnant Sacajawea and her scurrilous, French fur trader husband, Charbonneau on the journey. The Mandan chiefs clarify the expeditioners will need to trade with the Shoshoni for horses. They will not find a waterway across the Rocky Mountains. Lewis, Clark, and the Expeditioners are stunned that they must now take a young Indian woman and her baby on a military expedition. Sacajawea leaves her adopted home; convincing the Expedition, that she can find her Shoshoni Tribe.

It’s the summer of 1997, and in this small town, that means the most hopping place to be on a Friday night is the Blockbuster Video Store in the local strip mall. But recently, a slew of paranormal complaints have haunted the beloved Blockbuster, from strange appearances in the aisles to reportedly possessed video tapes, threatening business and frightening even the most die-hard of video renters. To make matters worse, the hauntings have begun leaking beyond the Blockbuster’s walls, affecting several of the adjacent stores and restaurants. After weeks of hauntings, the Blockbuster’s skeptical manager has reluctantly called in Paranormal Inc. to address matters before things get any worse...

An average Friday, just like any other.
A normal day, in an uneventful month, in a typical year.

About In an ISN/IPM exclusive, friend of the show and multiple award-winning SFF author Cat Valente returns! In her previous appearance we briefly discussed how the video game epic Mass Effect liberally borrows from Babylon 5, and so when the Legendary Edition of Mass Effect dropped we knew we had to have her back to dive deeper into the canon that she has actually significantly contributed to.
We discuss Cat's books, our approach to the games, and why Garrus fits a friend-shaped hole in our lives. Oh, and also how Picard is literally just Mass Effect.
Zathras wishes to note that roughly half of the discussion could not fit within the episode to fit the International Podcast Month guidelines, and will be found at a later date on the Babylon Podject feed.

About Three Stories from the System This is the Blue Lady, greencast to all local, anybody in the neighborhood? It gets mighty lonely in the black. Every spacer knows that really, when it comes down to it, they're on their own. Especially if you fly solo. And when you're on your own out there, a ship malfunction isn't a temporary inconvenience. It's a death threat.
That's how it is everywhere, Cal. People'r out for themselves. An' they'll do whatever they got to to come out on top. An asteroid community has to stick together to survive. People need to trust you have their back. But what if you aren't who everyone thinks you are?
"There she is. The love of my life. Maybe if I leave now she won't have noticed me." Dog Walkers take the jobs you can't put on the books. In that line of work, it pays to have friends in every port. Unfortunately for Kell, this job is going to bring her back to the one station where she doesn't.

After an unknown and unexplained event eighteen months ago, things in the forest began to change. Impossible landscapes, incomprehensible monsters—the Quarantine Zone began to spread, and it has not stopped. Hence Expedition Team Delta, hired by the research organization Advance to venture into the Quarantine Zone and uncover its source. When scientist Lee Barnett, guard Ivy “Rook” Kozlowsky, and Dr. Emmett Blackburn enter the Quarantine Zone in pursuit of answers, they will be faced with sights beyond their wildest dreams, or their worst nightmares. They may make it out alive, they may even make it out with answers, but one thing is certain: they will certainly not make it without the forest changing them for good.

It has been 424 years since the Cataclysm that ended the Radiant Era.
Well, it has been 424 years since anyone started counting years again, at least. In that time, humanity crawled back out of their bunkers and began to build a new world atop the unfathomable bones of the old.
This has had some drawbacks.
No one really knows how the technology of the Radiant Era worked, and sometimes some piece of the distant past will wake up and cause trouble. When that happens, someone has to go find out what's going on and find a way to make it stop. Most people don't want to be that someone, but sometimes you're just in the wrong place at the wrong time, or your community believes in you, or the siren song of profit and power catches your ear.
Recently, the sleepy town of Isan in the mountainous Pinelocke region has had a few troubling developments. At first, it seemed like the tremors were little more than the earthquakes that occasionally shook the hills-- but when Isan wrenched itself from the ground and began to float up into the sky, the citizens had some concerns and turned to their local heroes for help. Whether you're ready or not, today you're one of those heroes. The town has not yet stopped ascending, and eventually that's going to cause some serious habitability problems. At the same time, powers near and far may see this as an opportunity... or a threat.
A group of Augurs-- scholars who travel Tamaris studying curiosities-- just happens to be passing through, along with the cast and crew of a popular ghost hunting TV show. Together, they must uncover the mystery of Isan's rise... and bring the town back down to earth.

Coming November 1st, 2020 For as long as people have inhabited the Philippines, there has been an evil spirit waiting just beyond the light, craving blood. This cryptid--for all its potential--has never made it far from the islands, and in many ways, it didn’t need to. There, it has found itself a folk tradition to call its kingdom from which to rule the darkness, unconquerable.
Beyond the Philippines, the aswang hasn’t been discussed. And yet, there’s one podcast host daring enough to dive deep into this legend to see what makes this cryptid so powerful and yet bound to the land that bore it.

The Game Beam Saber is a game about the pilots of powerful machines in a war that dominates every facet of life. They are trying to do their time and part and get out physically and mentally intact. The organizations that perpetuate The War through all of known space are too incomprehensibly huge to take down. There is no ‘winning’ The War, there is only surviving it. Hopefully, you can make things a bit better before you move on.
No one Faction controls Earth. While it has little strategic value, essentially a backwater planet, the symbolic value for morale is unimaginable. The actual home of humanity. Every faction wants it, but none of them are willing to cede other territory to gain control of it. The result is the current standoff. Every Faction has a space elevator, but there’s still one left unclaimed. It belongs the Independents. Lately travelers between Fort Jovanol and Journey City have been experiencing raids by an unnamed squad. Our intel points to a Jovangellian Squad called The Raccoons. The Empire denies any knowledge of their activity, but they have taken no action to secure the territory. Recon has tracked them to an old armory. The Warning Shots, a group of emissaries under the charge of an old soldier named Chip Canticle, have been given the task to convince the Raccoons to stop their raiding of caravans.

The Game Created by Jeff Stormer, Doing The Job is a Descended From The Queen game about a group of wrestlers booked to lose a prestigious tournament. Players will take turns answering questions about their experiences in the tournament, their feelings towards the other wrestlers, and how they view the person destined to win the Queen's Cup at the end of the night.
When all is said and done, it's up to you to decide: was the pain of losing (and the pain you put your body through) worth the experience of being here?

thanks to international podcasting month for the opportunity to participate. but while i’m grateful to be here. that raises some questions. namely: why are we doing this? why podcast at all? if you only want one person to listen and they may not be truly hearing what you have to say, then you should stop right. but you three haven’t. have you asked yourselves why?

MonkeyTales cover art is by Cora May. Our theme song is “Follow the Muse,” by Deborah Linden.

Our Patreon backers make the show possible – join them in support of independent audio fiction at https://www.patreon.com/monkeymanproductions; we’ve got some great perks including early access to all our shows and behind-the-scenes glimpses at what’s coming next.
Today's story co-starred Tal Minear, who also did the sound design and is just a generally wonderful person. You can find their work in many places as a part of many works of audio fiction, but two we particularly love and find hopeful are Sidequesting, a delightful fantasy about avoiding the main plot - in the most interesting ways - and Light Hearts, a queer sitcom about friendship and love and ghosts and working together and - just go listen to both, they're well worth your time and will lift your spirits.
We'll be back soon with our own hopeful stories! Until then, take care of one another and keep finding ways to be a part of the resistance.

Moonbase Theta, Out is written and produced by D.J. Sylvis. This episode featured David S. Dear, Hazel Stapp, Elissa Park, Leeman Kessler, Sarah Wheatley, Sara Rhea Werner, Jen Ponton, Tau Zaman, Mel Hartman, Cass McPhee, and Mandy Hall, who also provided editing assistance.
Super-extra-special thanks to Jen Greenwich, who listened to all my silly ramblings about tardigrades and provided sound scientific advice, which I mostly ignored in favour of making shit up.
The theme music is the track, "Star," by the band, "Ramp" - you can find them at ramp-music.net; and this episode also featured their tracks, "Blush," "Rising Falling", and "Watersail." Additional music during the dream sequence came from the track, "Sloth," by Sounds Like An Earful Music Supply - you can find them at soundslikeanearful.com. All sound effects came from https://freesound.org/ - you can find further attribution on our website, monkeymanproductions.com.
You can find more about the show there as well (including links to all episodes and transcripts) and on our Facebook, and under the Twitter accounts @MonkeymanProd and @MoonbaseThetaOu. Thanks for listening, and keep watching the Moon!

About the Game
Good Society is a collaborative roleplaying game that seeks to capture the heart, and the countenance, of Jane Austen’s work. It is a game of balls, estates, sly glances, and turns about the garden. At least on the surface. But underneath, it is a game of social ambition, family obligation and breathtaking, heart-stopping longing.

Hello, and welcome to a very special episode of I Am Hear, celebrating International Podcast Month. I’m your host, Ryan Boelter, and I’m from the show Character Creation Cast.
Podcasters from around the RPG community have banded together to create a series of one-shot games for International Podcasting Month to promote diverse and inclusive gaming and to celebrate the hard work we do as podcasters.
Today’s game is All Outta Elder Signs which is a hack that I made of All Outta Bubblegum, originally created by Michael Sullivan and Jeffrey Grant. Joined with me for the game are Therin from Roll Like a Girl, Laura from Fate and the Fablemaidens, Dani from Tales of Blood and Stone, and Megan from Tabletop Potluck.
Today’s game, like most All Outta Bubblegum games, is mostly a comedy, but it does feature some horror themes, descriptions of gore, creepy crawlies, hauntings, and giant eldritch horrors from the Cthulhu mythos. It also involves a whole lot of kicking butt. Just wanted to give you fair warning before we dived right into this. Will all of that out of the way, on with the show. Enjoy!

Shownotes Making a podcast requires quite a bit of editing, especially when it’s interrupted by static and strange bits of sound. Enjoy this collection of cuttings from Jacq and Geneva’s podcast.

"Welcome to a very special episode of I Am Hear, celebrating International Podcast Month. I'm Jazz, and I currently play on the actual-play podcasts Heartbeats: A Heartwarming Fantasy and The Rancor's Brothel. This is a one-shot of Monster of the Week, designed & created by Michael Sands, and the players are Megan from Tabletop Potluck, Kyle from Beyond the Abyss, Bianca from The Broadswords, and Liz from Dungeons, Dice & Everything Nice.
We are playing a homebrew scenario of Monster of the Week based on my experiences as a child in flyover country. So pull up a chair, grab an ear of corn, and prepare yourself for a fun romp in small-town American Midwest. The monsties are out there."
Join Kristine of Heroes of the Hydian Way as Mara the Alp, Victoria of The Broadswords as Lox the Matlox, and Arp of Splinters of a Broken Sun as Koakko the Akkorokamui in a rousing game of S. John Ross' Risus, run by the incomparable Ross of Dice for Brains.
Angela of Fandible Podcast GMs, and is joined by Greyson from Heroes Not Included, Megan from The Amber Clave and The Redacted Files, and Victoria from Magic Folk for this Edge of the Empire Star Wars adventure.
