In this podcast episode, we dive into the origins and impact of the Sense of Human program, a transformative initiative by Life Changing Services. Hosted by Maurice Harker, the director of Life Changing Services, this discussion sheds light on the profound changes it has brought to countless lives.

The episode highlights the journey of Maurice Harker, who, as an adolescent and young adult, faced his own self-mastery struggles. His experiences ultimately led him to pursue a master's degree in counseling with a desire to make a meaningful impact on relationships and marriages. This path eventually led him to develop the Sons of Helaman program.

Sons of Helaman is a powerful program designed to help young men struggling with self-mastery issues, particularly in the context of sexual self-mastery. Maurice talks about how he noticed common struggles among the young men he worked with and realized that they needed a different approach. Instead of merely addressing individual issues, he aimed to create a sense of community and teamwork.

The name "Sons of Helaman" reflects the idea of a team of warriors rather than individuals battling their problems. The program draws inspiration from the warrior mentality found in the Book of Mormon and seeks to help young men realize their nobility and greatness.

The program's core principles revolve around understanding the tactics of the adversary, recognizing that you are not your own worst enemy, and embracing the idea of teamwork in the battle for self-mastery. It encourages participants to not just avoid negative behaviors but actively do positive and uplifting acts to make the world a better place.

Maurice shares a heartwarming story of a man who, in his retirement years, stumbled upon the Sons of Helaman program through a chance encounter with Mosiah 20:11. After reading the program's materials, he was deeply moved and felt a calling to help others on their journey towards self-mastery. This story exemplifies the program's ability to resonate with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

Maurice emphasizes that the principles of Sons of Helaman can be applied beyond the realm of sexual self-mastery. They serve as a blueprint for self-improvement in various aspects of life, from sports to academics.

The conversation showcases how Sons of Helaman has grown over the years, with countless graduates going on to live fulfilling lives and even becoming mentors themselves. It reflects on the program's far-reaching impact and the vision for the future, where the principles and teachings will continue to help individuals conquer self-mastery battles and lead happier, more productive lives.

This special episode features Life Changing Services Director Maurice Harker, M.Ed Maurice talks specifically to mothers encouraging them to understand that their identity is not, and should not, be connected to others and what to they do or don't do. He teaches moms not to measure their worth by others and their actions, but to find divine acceptance and peace. He uses the examples of Eve and Sariah and asks--were they good mothers? Not all of their children made the best choices, did that diminish their worth or mean they did not teach their children? Listen as Maurice teaches a very important lesson on how mothers should value themselves and understand their divine worth. Our Spring Retreatwill be so full of Jesus and women who love Him you won't be able to resist the lift!!!

We need places of retreat and security. We need Jesus Christ and his peace! We can notice with increase skill and awareness the things in and around us that separate us from the peace, safety and protection we want to feel from our loving Savior.

Miracles are revealed right in the middle of our messes when we understand God's love and ability to change our lives because we realize/recognize how to allow him to do so. He has the power to lift us no matter our circumstances in such a real and special way that it's actually unbelievable and at times makes no sense in our current circumstance. Karen Broadhead joins with other mothers at Warrior Mothers Who Know as they ask real life questions to Therapist Aneledee Milne, Director of the Daughters of Light Program and The Warrior Women of Light Program through Life Changing Services.

These are women of all walks of life living real life experiences and finding a way to gain strength and understanding in the struggle.

Aneledee shares, “We must work on our own disordered problems. If we aren’t willing to do our own work, it’s hard to build a relationship of trust.”

Aneledee has found trust working with women because she tells them right off the bat, “I’m not here to be better than you, I’m here because I am one of you.”

Enjoy this powerful class and we hope you find it helpful in your life as well.

There is no better title this week than this; MOTHERS, YOU ARE A GIFT!

Maurice Harker does a Q&A every first Tuesday of the month at Warrior Mothers Who Know. We meet on Zoom 11:00 am MT.

In this episode, we hope you find some of your questions answered. One of the questions here is about a mother’s gift.

Mothers have a lot of special gifts, and they can be turned into a liability. Why? Because Satan likes to mess with our confidence. He wants us to stare only at what isn’t turning out the way we thought with our kids We sometimes may doubt our gifts and question our abilities.

We know you’ll find peace in the answers and hope in your situation as you listen.

Does the word “trauma” strike a bit of discomfort in your heart? Can you empathize with the terror that a mother experiences when her child is struggling with something dark and frightening, and the mother has no idea how to help?

Trauma describes well what a mother feels upon discovering that her child has been targeted and attacked and is involved in things no mother wants to even think about.

What is she to do? How can she help her child fight this battle that seems too big for either of them?

The book, “Momma Trauma: Now What? Finding hope when your child battles pornography or other challenging issues” written by Karen Broadhead, provides powerful answers. Woven throughout the book are real-life examples of the pain, confusion, and despair that mothers have felt - but also the relief, the confidence and strength they have found as they employed the skills, practices and principles in the book. The foundational principle of the book is to Build a Firm Foundation in Christ, the Savior. As a mother focuses on building her own foundation of faith in Jesus Christ, she realizes that saving her child is not her job, but Christ’s. Her job is to love, to nurture, and to support. With that change of focus in her life, she receives the personal peace that comes only through a strong connection with the Redeemer.

Join Karen and other mothers as they discuss how their lives and families have been blessed as the truths in this book have helped them to overcome their own “Momma Trauma.”

Ashly Leavitt, Stay by the Tree: Messages of Hope presenter, shared her message "Waiting on the Lord: The Sacred Space of Limbo and Sorrow" on August 30, 2022. While the title of her message came quickly to her mind months ago, the actual body of her presentation did not come until a few hours before she presented. In a very real way, Ashly shares her experience and what it means to wait on the Lord. She talks about the space of limbo and sorrow being a sacred time, just as it was for Joseph Smith, Mary at the tomb, Lehi, and other scripture examples. As Ashly describes her experience at the glass making shop, don’t be surprised if the spirit gives you some insight on your own personal waiting. We are not alone in our waiting. The space for things working out is not for naught. There is reason and purpose behind it.

If you don’t have the Spirit, don’t talk, think or listen. Today we are going to focus on the DON’T TALK part. Discussed the 3 Ways the Holy Ghost Can affect our Conversations: 1) Constraining us to say something hard, 2) Prompting us not to speak, 3) Being present in our conversations. It’s important for us to notice how we feel in all of these situations because the Spirit speaks to us all uniquely. The Spirit helps our communication by having what we say fall into place like the tetris game. If the Spirit isn’t there, Satan distorts everything we say to not fit. We can practice prepared responses by using two tools: 1)Writing situation at top of page and what you will say and what other person will say, and practicing responses with the Spirit. 2) The 4 Square Listening Tool.

Use our Assertiveness to go from the Persecutor to the Challenger. Use our Listening and Problem Solving to go from Rescuer to Coach. You may be surprised to discover that boundaries are all about keeping the spirit with us.  In fact, Ashly shares that boundaries are most effective when they are used to prioritize our connection with the spirit. TJ Rowden’s message today helps us see and understand that “The battle today, between Babylon and Zion, is being waged between the synapses of our brains.”

What exactly does that mean? It’s where the focus of our brain is. TJ teaches us that if we compare where we are now and measure it to the IDEAL, we will experience feelings of failure, frustration, disappointment, low self-esteem, and depression.

However, if we measure our circumstance from where we began to where we are now, we will gain feelings of Success, Fulfillment, Confidence, High Self-Esteem, Enjoyment and Optimism.

Sometimes it’s hard to see why 1% increase makes any difference. TJ teaches us the difference of Guilt vs Shame.

“Jesus had not finished his work when his body was slain, neither did he finish it after his resurrection from the dead; Although he had accomplished the purpose for which he then came to the earth, he had not fulfilled all his work. And when will he? Not until he has redeemed and saved every son and daughter of our father Adam that have been or ever will be born upon this earth to the end of time…That is his mission. We will not finish our work until we have saved ourselves, and then not until we shall have saved all depending upon us; for we are to become saviors upon Mount Zion, as well as Christ.”

-President Packer, October 1995, “This Brilliant Morning of Forgiveness”

“If for a while the harder you try, the harder it gets, take heart. So, it has been with the best people who ever lived… So keep loving. Keep trying. Keep trusting. Keep believing. Keep growing. Heaven is cheering you on today, tomorrow, and forever.”

-Elder Jeffrey R Holland

Lisa has a true momma heart, especially as she shares some of her “big breaks”: the disappointments and difficult challenges she has experienced with her children. Before she shares the details of the circumstances, she wisely shares and gives us information about three different vessels. A Lachrymatory, or tear jar; a Herodian lamp, a lamp like what the 10 virgins might have used; and a broken bowl using the Japanese art of Kintsugi to repair it —the joining together of the pieces with a special kind of lacquer from the Urushi tree mixed with gold. The symbolism and the explanation of the different vessels is wonderful to know.

Lisa shares about the loss of her young teenage son due to death of a unique neurological disease, the loss of another son who chose to live a different lifestyle and how his choices affected Lisa’s relationship with him, as well as the relationship separation Lisa experienced due to another child’s choice to distance themself from The Church and its teachings. Lisa speaks about her own disease – a hard heart. She speaks about real emotions of anger, disappointment, guilt, and shame while dealing with these “big breaks” and her own brokenness.

Trusting in the Savior, attending the temple, and time have been her healers – TRUST, TEMPLE, and TIME. Sharing her testimony of the Savior and His Atonement, Lisa knows coming to Him helps us to “Hold on” in His way.

Lisa is generous in her sharing in a real and vulnerable way. Her experiences and stories will touch your momma heart and might give you some hope to “Hold on thy way” with a few of the “big breaks” you may be experiencing in your own journey.

We thank Lisa Grant for her message of hope and love and testifying of the Savior Jesus Christ, even in her brokenness.

Kim Davis’ message, “It’s All About Connection” is a hopeful message for all! As a Behavioral Specialist for Daughters of Light, a coach for new mentor certification training for Life Changing Services, and as an Eternal Warrior coach, she has experience with connections. Especially with God and the Spirit.

Kim suggests what we can do to connect with ourselves, with God, with others, and why it is important. The adversary seeks any opportunity to have us disconnect with others and Kim explains the enemy does so by tricking us with “smoke and mirrors”, like what a magician uses. You’ll love her analogy and will begin to understand and see the “smoke and mirrors” the enemy might be using in your life too.

Kim encourages listeners to not see the people we love as the enemy. Instead, behold your little ones, behold your spouse, behold yourself—open your eyes, see them, and have compassion. Kim reminds us we are all fighting hard battles. Behold the little one in you and in your spouse or children. God sees the mess, but He also sees the healing and infinite possibility within you.

Kim speaks of connection, love, sanctification, and exaltation. She also reminds us of this important and empowering truth she often says: “Fight the REAL battle! The REAL battle is to have the Spirit, to have the Spirit is the battle. When you win that battle, you win ALL the battles!!!” It really is all about connection. Connecting with God through the Spirit is key.

You can learn more about Kim at https://daughtersoflight.org/ or she invites you to connect with her through email at eternalfamilywarriors@gmail.com.

We thank Kim Davis for her passionate message about connection!

“Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine… I will be with thee… For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Savior.”

Jamie Johnson, participant in the Warrior Women of Light program shares in vulnerability, her deeply sacred healing journey with Karen Broadhead, Director of Mothers Who Know and the Parent Support Specialist for Life Changing Services.

Sometimes it is impossible to explain why bad things happen to good, innocent people. “You are not defined by these terrible things that have been done to you. You are, in glorious truth, defined by your eternally existing identity as a son or daughter of God.” Elder Patrick Kearon

A wife, mother, therapist, musician, artist, lover of cats and bunnies, and brave survivor.

Jamie shares with such courage her story of long-suffering and journey of discovering how to apply the atonement of Jesus Christ to the healing she needed after years of abuse. Her unique story is one we don’t want to believe is real. It hasn’t been an easy road for this sweet, powerful, warrior sister who developed Dissociative Identity Disorder to cope with her hardship.

Jamie desires to share her story because over the years she has come to recognize who she is in her story as she came to understand she was more than the bad things that have happened to her…SHE IS HIS! She wants you to know that your story also matters. Her hope is that you will be inspired to fight to heal, even if your story is unique or unusual, by listening to her story. She knows what it feels like to feel different.

“It’s okay if your story is not the typical story because Heavenly Father knows you. He knows your story. He knows you by name, and you matter. Your unique story matters!”

No matter how big and unique, or small and mundane your challenges seem, Jamie, thinks it’s important that you know, you can get through this, it’s the same things that help, it’s not going to be easy and it’s not going to work alone. You can’t do it by yourself!

Jamie has come to trust the kindness and love she receives in Warrior Women of Light. She also appreciates the accountability, the spiritual border patrol actions, and mindful tools. The approach of line upon line, small simple step learning has brought her more sobriety and greater self-compassion in her healing.

Jamie noticed that part of her journey to healing was to understand how to apply the Savior's atonement. She had been taught the steps of repentance but realized that she had never learned the steps of healing. We don’t need to repent of things that are forced upon us, or things that are outside our control, but we need to fight to heal.

“Those experiencing abuse, violence, or oppression may ask if they are beyond repair or are eligible for the blessings of the Savior’s Atonement. Whatever has happened to you, He is not ashamed of you or disappointed in you. He loves you in a way you have yet to discover. And you will discover it as you trust in His promises…Our merciful Savior, victorious over darkness and depravity, has the power to right all wrongs.” Elder Patrick Kearon

Jamie references Elder Patrick Kearon’s General Conference talk on April 2, 2022, “He Is Risen With Healing in His Wings: We Can Be More Than Conquerors” We also encourage you to also consider it if you have been abused and need the Saviors healing power in your life. https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2022/04/24kearon?lang=eng

"Hello Everyone,

This is KC Broadhead, the editor of this and the Like Dragons Did They Fight Podcast. Today, as this is a Mother's Day episode, I wanted to honor both my mother and grandmother. Both have always been incredible, stalwart, examples of seeking the spirit and trying your best. My mom, Karen, has always been there for me through my best times, cheering me on and lifting me higher, and my worst times, when I have had no hope and felt like nothing could lift me from the depths. Remember your mother. No matter how good or bad they did. I am so blessed to have an incredible mother who I am so close with and love with all my heart. I never get tired of editing her voice as she uses her incredible talent to shine the light for others. I am so grateful for my grandmother who became my companion in physical misery, the person I could relate to, and the person I could think of when I felt at my worst. I love you Mom! I love you Grandma!

I hope you enjoy this Mother's Day episode!"

Welcome back to the Mothers Who Know Podcast! In this week's podcast Maurice Harker, Director of Life Changing Services, teaches Warrior Chemistry. We invite you to sit back, relax, and enjoy the power of this episode! It could change your life!

At the root of all Warrior Chemistry is love. You find your motivation to fight like a warrior because of your love for your family, yourself, your friends, and God. Historically, the solution to misbehaving or acting outside of our values has been “thought control.” Shifting our thoughts can be effective except in instances where we have patterns of losing control of our body chemistry.

From a spiritual perspective, the use of “thought control” underestimates the power of Satan. Satan’s primary weapon is his ability to affect our thought processes. We learn all about this in our Mom Power Training. You can also learn more by checking out Eternal Warriors Training.

It would be nice to stop Satanic flashes, but we learn that God allows us to be enticed by both good and evil. This part of the spin can not be fully eliminated. Satan is going to continue attacking. We must learn how to neutralize his attacks. What do you have that Satan does not have? You have a body.○Chemists have discovered that some chemicals, when combined with other chemicals neutralize each other. Your body contains all the chemicals it needs to fight satanic chemical attacks.

God has not left you powerless. You are powerful! "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."(2 Timothy 1:7).

We can claim our power through our bodies and win our battles.

Warrior Chemistry is something you already possess. You just need to know how to use the weapon God gave you that satan does not have. Your Amazing Body!! God instilled in our bodies chemicals designed specifically to be used in times of danger for protection.

● Warrior Chemistry is a very powerful, courageous, focused, committed state of mind.

● Warrior Chemistry is purposeful, intentional righteous ferocity.

● Warrior Chemistry is a deeply spiritual response that causes a very physical reaction in the body.

Like many of us Jennifer had plan for her life but realized quickly that the Lord had a different plan.

After the death of one of her children and another one caught in the trap of pornography, Jennifer shares with us the light that came into her life as she learned the power of the Atonement. She has seen the light of her Savior come into what could only be considered a dark place.

Jennifer teaches, "You don't have to have everything all together to have something to share. When we give what we have, the Lord will magnify us."

"Nothing can keep us from the love of God.....but our own thoughts." This was a concept she hadn't considered. We hope you enjoy this podcast as Jennifer takes us on her journey of learning, "Not every voice in your head is a trusted voice."

Wowzer! This episode is going to be one you are so grateful to hear!!! It's an eye-opener! Christ Beynon teaches the double funnel theory as it relates to human connection. Many things that I didn't know how to explain were explained here! Like why follow the dating section of the "For the Strength of Youth" guide. It's about following God's laws that lead to our happiness as spoken by modern-day prophets for our day. There is a difference between connection and healthy connection and knowing the difference can make all the difference! I can't wait to listen and take some great notes. This would be so wise for me to know how to communicate as a mother and grandmother! Our Heavenly Father created us for connection because he loves us and knows one of the greatest gifts we can receive is the deep experience of healthy intimacy. When you understand the double funnel theory Chris describes, you can clearly see why God has set up healthy guardrails for his children to allow for our increased happiness in connecting in the way His plan outlines. satan on the other hand, is aware of our divine need to connect and has worked hard to create counterfeits for connection that he calls intimacy. But they are hollow and can lead to so much misery. I hope this helps you as much as it did me!

Many great takeaways and insights shared by Chris Beynon, MSW, LCSW, and Sons of Helaman clinician. Chris shares experiences and stories from working with young men for 37 years as he explains why self-mastery is difficult, the shame and guilt associated with pornography use, how mothers and parents can support their sons, testifying of the Savior's Atonement work in the lives of young men, and more. You'll also learn about "The Double Funnel Theory" as Chris explains the components of affection and commitment. Chris answers questions from the mothers, perhaps questions you might have too. We think you'll enjoy hearing from Chris and will find his perspective and insight from working with many Sons of Helaman very helpful. And yes, Karen will be doing a follow-up podcast with Chris Beynon soon!

Amy Frei’s hope-filled message truly is "From Tragedy to Triumph" as she shares Sarah's story. Amy shares many details of the July 2020 tragic car accident of her daughter Sarah, who was hit head on by a drunk driver. Sarah was instantly paralyzed from the waist down and subsequently had both legs amputated above the knee. As mothers who know, your heart breaks to see your children in pain and you too will feel sadness as you hear Sarah’s story and pleading prayers of a mother. But you will also be inspired as you learn of the miracles at the scene, in the hospital, during rehab, and what Amy, Sarah, and their family have learned from this experience. You will hear praise to God and how God has used this experience to bring about good in many ways. Amy also shares how Sarah felt like her spirit was prepared for this and how Sarah joyfully was ready for the “new and improved Sarah”. While not spoken during the podcast but shared in the webinar meeting chat by someone who personally knows the Freis, was this beautiful message and tribute to Sarah and Amy: “I just had the blessing of being with Sarah for the weekend in Arizona. She was saying that it bothers her when people doubt that she could possibly be okay and happy. Almost like they think she is faking her happiness. She isn’t. She is deeply, truly happy. An amazing soul. Just like her mother.” We hope this message fills you with hope!

Blenda McGary shares many beautiful messages in her presentation of “Change Your Prayers, Change Your Life” in this Stay by the Tree: Messages of Hope message. Blenda generously opens her heart and lets us see a bit of her challenge and heartache as a woman unable to have children, the joy of adoption, the pain of a stillborn child, and how being a mother is the hardest AND the greatest joy. Through these experiences and others, Blenda has learned that changing her prayers changes her life and her perspective. We too can change our prayers... Pray for a change in “me”, praying for help on how He can help “me”, pray for a change in perspective. Pray and ask for help from the other side. Pray to have hope, pray for joy, pray for peace. Pray to connect with God. You will be lifted and inspired by listening to her many messages of hope. Blenda reminds us that when there is no peace in me, there IS peace in Christ. When there is no hope in me, there IS hope in Christ. When there is no love in me, there IS love in Christ. The truths of her message are enhanced when she moves to her piano and plays the chorus to the peaceful and stirring song, “Peace in Christ”.

Taylor Jones shares with Karen Broadhead, Director of Mothers Who Know, her reasons for fighting her pornography addiction and why she does not give up. She knows healing is possible when we shine light on the value of reaching out for help, healing through connection, and remembering that our Father in Heaven and his Son, Jesus Christ, always want us and will never leave us.

The hope in Taylor’s voice and her pleasant, friendly nature are sure to make you rethink some of your perceptions about addiction. She is full of talent! Her favorite animal is the pacific spiny lump suckerfish, she has fun interests/hobbies, she is not afraid of snakes, and lets them hug her, as she works on the education team at a fantastic aquarium.

Taylor openly shares, “I honestly thought it was impossible because I had been in the thick of it for seven years and I was like, there’s no way I’m going to be able to overcome this. This is going to plague me for the rest of my life.”

She shares that in Warrior Women of Light “we have each other’s backs, it’s not a competition where we race against each other. We race against the adversary. It’s so nice to go to a place where you’re all working on the same thing and there’s no shame, no judgment about it. There’s so much love and you’re all there for each other.”

Taylor describes how she has learned how to actively fight against satan by using spiritual armor to discern him. One way the women actively fight in their weekly groups is to share their answers to these powerful questions.

“Why are you fighting? Why don’t you just give up?”

Here is Taylor’s inspiring reply.

“I fight because I came too dang far to let satan do his gross, disgusting tactics on me!”

“I fight because satan does not have a right to my thoughts or to my body or to my actions. The person that’s in control of those things is me!"

“I fight because I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father, and I want to do what I can to make my Heavenly Father proud and also to return back to Him. I’m not going to let satan ruin that!”

“I fight for me. I fight for my future, and my future family!”

“I fight for other people that are also fighting so that they can see that it can be done!”

Listener, why are YOU fighting? We hope your fight includes sharing this podcast with the people you love and fight for!

You are so awesome!! Together in the fight!

Come on in, the door is open to feel the Savior's love! Karen Broadhead, Director of Mothers Who Know, interviews Katherine McCullough, who shares her 10-year struggle with pornography and sexual self-mastery. Her message is one of deep healing and reclaiming her divine identity. Because she knows the real discomfort and fear that comes up when we need to reach out for help, she thoughtfully shares, “When you are in ‘Warrior Women of Light’, you can’t feel fear even if you want to…there’s just too much love here!”

Like a caring friend, Katherine reaches out to other young women who are now experiencing the loneliness and shame she did and says – “Satan is the enemy, not you. Please realize you are so much more than he is making you out to be. The Savior’s Atonement is so infinite that you can be on day one (of sobriety) every single day but if you are facing toward Christ and you are trying…that is the power of the Atonement.”

Jesus Christ has a loving, understanding, singular approach for His beautiful daughters who are doubting their worthiness to receive His care and help.

Katherine testifies of the Savior’s reaching for her, and you. - “One of the biggest things I learned was the power of the Atonement. I felt for years that I was always going to be this way, that I was never going to concur this. I learned that’s a lie! The truth is, because of the Atonement, because of the sacrifice my Savior made for me, He has healed me! He has transformed me into a woman who knows her worth and her power over Satan. A woman who knows her divine right to be loved, to have a family, to feel confident before God. That’s something I didn’t think I would ever feel. But because of this program I feel the power of the Atonement.”

We invite you to open your door and invite others to feel the Savior's love by passing this healing episode along. Thank You!

Welcome fellow warrior women! This episode is going to give you wings to fly! Karen Broadhead, Director of Mothers Who Know, interviews Jessica Sorensen, who shares the energy and courage it takes to fight for oneself while battling ANXIETY and DEPRESSION. With her life not rolling out the way she had planned, Jessica searched for resources to understand and address her anxiety and depression for several years in one-on-one counseling, with a variety of therapists. She noticed she did a bit better, but throughout the week and when she was no longer in therapy she would spiral into discouragement and frustration again. The day she courageously made a call to inquire about the therapeutic program for women at Life Changing Services changed her life. She discovered the strength and power that comes from a team. She learned that aside from the clinical aspects of her anxiety and depression she was in a spiritual battle with the enemy of her joy and peace. Satan was determined to steal Jessica's power and identity by isolating her in battle because he is afraid of her, and all women who are connected to cheer up and bless humanity. She remembered what her spirit had always known... She was a WARRIOR! She was a WOMAN OF LIGHT! Jessica wisely surrounded herself with the support and assistance of a powerful Warrior Women of Light team! Now she is armed with the applicable training and tools she needs to win her battles. In courageous confidence she is skilled at protecting and defending herself as needed in the art of spiritual warfare with weapons of light.

Her allegiance is to her Savior and Champion, Jesus Christ. As she fights with Him and for Him she makes broken look beautifully invincible, and the burdens upon her shoulders look like a pair of wings!

Please spread your wings and fly this episode to all your people. Thank You!

In this final episode of our Mom Power LIVE series, Karen shows moms how we can learn from each other and apply the Mom Power principles to daily life. With the help of a couple of T.E.A.M. members, Karen facilitates a mastermind--where moms ask specific questions and learn from others. The questions in today's mastermind included, 1. How do we continue to teach and discipline our children and teach them about agency and consequences without stepping in and controlling everything?

  1. How can I best deal with fierce women in my family who do not have the same values that I do and don’t support the way I parent my children? And how can I maintain my own gospel principles and show strength while being a good mom, keeping out the contention, and making sure my own emotions are not triggered from comments by other family members?

One of the most powerful things women can learn is that not every voice they hear in their head is a trusted voice.  Often, the things we hear in our heads are not coming from a trusted source, they are coming from the adversary. He will try to discourage you, to make you feel inferior, to make you feel stupid, and overall try to drag you down. Don't let him get away with that.  Learn to "STAY IN YOUR TRUTH!" and better determine when you are hearing a lie.  Join Karen and other Mom Power moms as they learn just a little more about this and how it applies in their life.

Cody mentioned that the "Warrior Prayer"  totally changed the way he prays.  Here are the steps:

  1. Tattle-tale on satan - tell God what is happening in your life and in your brain. What feelings are you having and what thoughts are you having?

  2. Expose the adversary and share with God the tactics that are being used against you. Counsel with God and explain what is going on and what the enemy is doing to stop you

  3. "The brother of Jared step" - Present your plan

  4. Ask Heavenly Father for energy and remembrance to follow through with the plan.

This special episode features Life Changing Services Director Maurice Harker, CMHC.  Maurice talks specifically to mothers encouraging them to understand that their identity is not, and should not, be connected to others and what to they do or don't do. In week 4 of our Parent Training podcast, we learn that each choice we make is actually a test of our agency. What will we choose? Liberty or captivity? Why is it important for our sons to be reminded every week what they are fighting for and who they are? Do we remember what we are fighting for? Karen shares a personal story on how overcoming a mood battle helped her to remember how much she loved her family and why they are worth fighting for.  In her easy going style she describes how she came to this realization while working through a pile of dirty dishes. Karen continues to teach us important strategies that our sons are learning in Sons of Helaman, but even more importantly she reminds us that the best way to truly help our sons is by strengthening our own personal relationship with the Savior and understanding who our kids truly are--amazing sons and daughters of God who the adversary fears. Why does my son keep losing battles? My son and I are really having some great conversations and the spirit is so strong. I just know that he is going to beat this, but then he loses a battle.  Is this my fault? It seems that my son is always starting over. Sometimes it makes me so angry. Karen reminds us that our child is not broken or unworthy.  The adversary is attacking him with psychological warfare and everything he has. What we need to realize is that the adversary is also attacking YOU with the same psychological warfare.  He wants you to become agitated and upset so that you react with anger and fear. In week 2 of our Parent Training podcast series, Karen teaches how important it is to put on the armor of God each and every day, do your own drills, and better understand the battles we all face.

This is Part 1 of a 4-part series on Sons of Helaman training for parents.  Is there anything I need to know to help my son be successful in the Sons of Helaman program? YES!!! In this podcast Karen teaches us the same tools that your child is being taught in Sons of Helaman.  Understanding what your child is being taught is key to supporting him on his journey to recovery. In this first lesson, Karen reminds us that the adversary is working at lightning speed to destroy families. He is an expert at being subtle and personal because he wants us to be miserable. He fills our minds with fear until we feel beaten down and then he sits back and laughs. Karen teaches us how to discern between Satan’s lies and God’s truths, so that we will come to recognize the Savior’s hand in not only our son’s journey but in our journey as well. She mentions the idea that is taught at Life Changing Services that "not every voice in my head is a trusted voice". She asks if the adversary can get in our heads and create negative thoughts or temptations, then do we ever actually have our "own" thoughts? How can we tell what is our own thought, what is from the Spirit, what is true, and what is a false idea from the adversary? What kind of tools can we use to figure that out. Karen talks about all the things a mother knows. We are all in a battle against the adversary, we are at war, and this life will not be without wounds. But, WOUNDS DO NOT MEAN FAILURE! In the Book of Mormon, the Sons of Helaman found battles, and all were wounded, but none perished. Our children will have wounds in this life of some kind, we as moms will have wounds, but that does not mean we won't win the war. The outcome has already been decided--with the Savior, we will win, everytime! Join Karen as she teaches with the Spirit about some of the things we as mothers know. This is the audio from one of Karen's Eternal Warriors classes--protecting our families from the evils of pornography. However, this is probably not the training you think it's going to be. In this training, Karen teaches parents that the most important thing they need to know, and their kids need to know, is WHO THEY ARE--divine sons and daughters of God. We need to teach them that our homes and hearts are "a place of grace" and that its okay to make mistakes or even feel like you have failed--that is what the Atonement is for. Mothers can have such a huge influence on their children and how that handle situations. You are in for a treat today as you listen to our dear Momma Verla share her wisdom and her wit. Momma Verla shares a touching story about a young man who, after years of struggling with addictions and spending time in jail, is finally able to turn his life around. He attributes his success to the influence of his sweet mother who never gave up on him. As I listened to this podcast, I am reminded of this beautiful quote by Marvin J. Ashton: “What is meant by the statement, ‘No success can compensate for failure in the home?’” Knowing a little of the burdens this friend of mine carries in her mind and heart because of a rebellious, wayward daughter, I shared this meaning with her: I believe we start to fail in the home when we give up on each other. We have not failed until we have quit trying. As long as we are working diligently with love, patience, and long-suffering, despite the odds or the apparent lack of progress, we are not classified as failures in the home. We only start to fail when we give up on a son, daughter, mother, or father.”

Momma Verla reminds us that the influence of a mother is a precious gift and even though we may not realize it at the moment, our efforts will have a lasting impact in the lives of our children. For more information on Mothers Who Know, visit our website at https://motherswhoknow.org/

Karen Broadhead, founder and director of Mothers Who Know and Mom Power Training, teaches about the importance of receiving personal revelation in our lives. We all know its important, and would love to receive it, but often have no idea exactly how. In this episode, Karen talks about how she learned to receive revelation using different colored pens while "Writing Letters to God" and writing in her journal. She uses these various colors of pens to gather "evidence" that God does love her and does in fact talk to her. She teaches that while she may not get "awe inspiring" answers everyday, she can look over her past journals and easily see where God was in fact talking to her. She now has evidence that God is in her life, is beside her every step of the way, and speaks to her in small ways. PoWeR journaling includes Prayer, Writing and Reading. She talks about the importance of teaching our children that they can talk to us about anything, and that if we aren't the ones teaching our children - who is? She talks about the importance of listening to the Spirit and the promptings we receive and teaching our kids that "God loves you so much, He inspired me to know that something was wrong." We also learn that even if we do things wrong, the Savior is there to help, and it is through His Atonement that all can come back to Him. Michelle Schmidt, wife of The Piano Guys' Jon Schmidt, shares how trusting in God has helped her through the unthinkable loss of her daughter Annie and the challenge of supporting a family member with an addiction. Listen as Michelle talks about how her faith carried her through one of the most trying times as a mother. She also talks about how other trials earlier in life helped prepare her for this and helped her rely on the Savior to get her through it. (Mothers Who Know is the parent support group for Life Changing Services.)
