Tale: The Battle of Beaumont-Hamel On July 1st, 1916, 806 members of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment went "over the top" as part of the battle of Beaumont-Hamel. In less than an hour, the regiment was devastated, most killed or wounded within the first 20 minutes of the battle. The next morning, only 68 soldiers answered the roll call. Rosemary Lawton is an award-winning Newfoundland traditional artist, with formal training in classical violin and has completed her degree in Music Education. She is a passionate advocate of women’s issues and champions the advancement of women in the music industry through her work. Rosemary is helping to preserve Newfoundland’s rich tradition by collecting, recording, and performing Newfoundland traditional music. “Resilience,” is Rosemary's book all about the strength of Newfoundland and Labrador women.
