This week, Mr Griffiths and Mr Dill welcome Mr Tom Layton to the podcast. Mr Layton is a Houseparent at Beaudesert and a Year 4 Form Teacher. As the quintessential prep school sportsman, Mr Layton shares his school day memories and the important role that sport played. In particular, he discusses the importance of a traditional ‘match tea’ and expresses how sport within school should be seen as a far larger package than simply training or fixtures.
In this week’s podcast, Mr Griffiths and Mr Dill speak with former professional rugby player and current Gloucester attack coach, Alex King. Alex has recently moved to the area from France and he gives us a real insight into his sporting journey, what life is like in the professional game and offers some broader words of advice from the world of sport.
Mr Griffiths and Mr Dill are back with the first Sports Podcast of 2021. In this episode, they reflect briefly on the end of last term and outline the sports programme for the first half of this term. This week Mr Griffiths and Mr Dill are joined by Mr Dan Robinson. Mr Robinson, or Mr Rob as he is more affectionately known as, is an Old Beaudesertian, a current parent and has been a Games teacher at Beaudesert for the best part of 20 years. He is more widely recognised for his success as a marathon runner, representing both England and Great Britain. In this episode, Mr Robinson mentions his memories of Beaudesert and his interesting journey into marathon running. He discussed some of his career highlights and how the beautiful part of the world in which we live helped him maintain enjoyment and motivation along the way.

This week, Sport@Beaudesert combined forces with our wellbeing talk. Mr Griffiths was joined by Old Beaudesertian Nick Abendanon, son of our very own Mrs Abendanon. Nick is a professional rugby player with over 15 years’ experience, representing Bath, Clermont and England. In this show, Nick speaks of his Beaudesert memories and his journey into professional sport. Nick reflects on various parts of his incredible career, the ups and downs along the way and the big decision to leave his home in Bath to play for Clermont in France. There are also many valuable tips for both our pupils and parents.

In this week’s episode Mr Griffiths and Mr Dill are joined by Dr Smith to discuss the topic of ‘Managing your time’. Throughout his life Dr Smith has had to balance both his commitment to sport and his ambition to be a doctor. Having played Cricket for England at age group level, been part of the Gloucestershire Cricket Academy whilst playing numerous other sports, good time management has been of paramount importance. Dr Smith also discusses the important role that sport has played in helping his career so far and the skills/qualities that it promotes.
