In UC Davis course LDA190, Loren Oki, associate specialist in Cooperative Extension, in the Department of Plant Sciences hosts the fall 2010 Landscape Architecture brownbag seminar on sustainable development. A number of speakers will address challenges and solutions to urban water issues.
Lecture 09: Marq Truscott, ASLA, president, Quadriga in Sacramento, speaks on "Hitting the ground: Real world projects that respond to sustainable water practice."
Lecture 08: Chris Bowles, Ph.D., P.E. President, ecohydrologist for cbec inc., eco-engineering of West Sacramento, Calif., speaks on using ecological engineering solutions to manage and mitigate for urban runoff.
Lecture 07: Darren Haver, director of the South Coast Research and Extension Center and Water Resources and a water quality advisor for the UC Cooperative Extension in Orange County speaks on designing residential landscapes to conserve and protect water resources.
Lecture 06: Julie Saares-Edmonds of the Water Use Efficiency Branch in the California Department of Water Resources speaks about "Landscapes for a new California."
Lecture 05: Aaron Majors, owner and department manager, Construction Cagwin & Dorward, Novato, California, gives a contractors perspective on sustainable landscape renovation. He talks about water, case studies and return on investment.
Lecture 04: Adina Merelender, Cooperative Extension specialist and adjunct professor with the Hopland Research and Extension Center and UC Berkeley speaks on future growth and land use change: What it means for California’ natural resources.
Lecture 03: Susan Kocher, a natural resources Advisor with UC Cooperative Extension in El Dorado County speaks on the impacts of development on fish habitat and local solutions to mitigate and restore habitat.
