-They focused upon what they had to do rather then Jesus Christ.

-They concentrated upon themselves and what they could do to make themselves acceptable to God.

-They stressed the flesh, the physical and the natural.

Galations 3:1-5

  1. No man can do enough good to get into heaven.

The task of believers: correct error (false teaching) v1, receives the spirit by faith at salvation not by works or the law v2, grows by faith v3, suffers by faith v4, experiences God's miraculous working by faith and not by works v5. 

  1. Error deceives a person.

False teaching says a man must keep the ritual of religion, do good works to be good, keep the law in order to be acceptable to God. 

  1. Error leads people away from God and the truth. 

The hearing of the gospel is how they realize that they need Jesus Christ. Romans 10:14-17

The Holy Spirit is a gift from God, no man can earn, win or merit the Spirit of God, God's Holy Spirit is given by God and by God alone.
