- Have you ever had a moment of sudden realization of something that didn't fully make sense before?
- How is your love life?
- John 12 1-8
- Mary anointed Jesus with the most expensive item she possessed, yet she was still criticized by even those closest to Jesus.
- Mary uncovered herself to fully open up to Jesus. Letting down our walls and barricades will let us fully receive what Jesus offers us.
- We sometimes do crazy things with the people we love.
- It is never a waste to take all you have and place it on the alter.

- We can show the love of God through our words, but how often are we showing it when nobody is around?
- The things we have freely received from God should be freely given to those in the world.
- Mark 2:5 -"...your sins are forgiven..."
- Mark 2:9 - Jesus asks what is easer for me to say, not what is easier for me to do.
- Jesus healed through forgiveness.
Have you ever had a moment of realization of something that didn't fully make sense before? - We all have a chance to "wake up" spiritually, whether it is for the first time or we have drifted off. - Waking up is a choice we make every day. - Moses was asleep for 40 years until God appeared to him as a burning bush. - The more you choose to burn away the things in your life that are keeping you asleep, God will take that flame and make it burn brighter for things that will keep you awake for Him. - Sometimes we need to do something spiritually crazy to get us to wake up. - Luke 9:32
What is the wise thing to do? - We can not change our past, but our present can and will influence our forever. - Don't trade what you want most for something in the moment. - A wise decision requires understanding and submitting to the principles and rules set before us. - John 13:17 - In situations where help is needed, we want people who know the principles and have the experience. - Proverbs 9:10 - The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.
What is the wise thing to do? - Everybody has something they regret in life; a moment, a season, or possibly years. - Many times we ask ourselves, "How could I have been so foolish?" - Life can not begin to get better if we continuously look back. - We may not have seen a situation coming, but chances are somebody else did. - It is easier to see problems in others and offer solutions, rather than address our own problems. - Emotionally charged environments are bad for decision making. - Emotions cloud judgment. - What is the wise thing to do when emotions get high? Listen. - Wise people recognize when they are in no condition to decide something for themselves, by themselves. - 1 Kings 4:29 - Solomon spoke of seeking counsel more than anyone, regardless of wisdom. - Proverbs 9:9 / 1:5 / 12:15 / 15:22 / 13:20 / 13:10 / 19:20 - We are not meant to live life alone. - If we recognize all of these things in our lives, why do we choose not to follow solutions? 1. Those who are wise will tell us, but we do not listen. 2. We do not think it is anyone's business. 3. Pride. - The only way to come out of a place of pride is to invite others into our place of weakness. - Wise people know what they don't know.
What is the wise thing to do? - We never truly grow by being comfortable. We grow by stretching out. - Before we talk ourselves into something and cross over the line between good and bad, we take small steps, convincing ourselves along the way, saying things like, "there's nothing wrong with..." - Bad moral choices lead to a series of unwise decisions. - Living on the edge has its benefits at the right time and place. However, there are times, especially very personal and intimate moments, where we realize too late that we should have held back. - 1 Corinthians 6:18 - Sexual sins are in their own category, not because they are far "worse" and more "drastic", but because of the consequences. - These sins are sometimes the hardest to forgive ourselves from. - 1 Corinthians 6:20 - Honor GOD with your bodies.

- What is the wise thing to do?
- Time is our most valuable resource.
- What are we doing with our time?
- Psalm 90:1-6 -Our time can not be wasted thinking only about ourselves. We have been put here for bigger reasons.
- No matter our riches, influence or power, we will merely return to dust if we do not tie ourselves to something greater.
- If you're ever in doubt, ask your mom!
- Ephesians 5:15-16
- Wise people ask the right questions. "In light of my past, present and future circumstances, what is the wise thing to do?"
- The simple person: They are unwise because of a lack of experience. They have not faced many obstacles or have not lived long enough to understand the differences. "I can handle this. Everyone else is doing it."
- The fool: the fool is unwise because they understand what they are doing, yet still choose to go through with it regardless of circumstance. "That won't bother me. I'll be fine."
- As a dog returns to vomit, so a fool repeats its mistakes. - Proverbs 26:11
- The fool hurts not only themselves, but others as well.
- He who walks with the wise becomes wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm. - Proverbs 13:20
- The mocker: Knows the difference, doesn't care, and to those who choose wisdom, they bring down.
- Correcting with Wisdom:
- The simple will not understand initially, but will come to terms with the teachings over time.
- The fool will not care until it is too late.
- The mocker will not care at all, regardless of the outcomes.
- "...but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm." - Proverbs 1:30
What is the wise thing to do? - This question isn't a one-and-done in our lives, because the answer will change at different stages of our lives. - If we are not pursuing wisdom, then by default we are pursuing other things that are not wise. - The simple person: They are not wise necessarily by choice, but by lack of experience. - Parents can be strict or "overreact" because they have been in that time and place and have fully experienced that situation. - Being young- live life to the fullest. Be a kid, teenager, young adult, whatever it may be! Learn from your experiences along the way. - Young People Gaining Wisdom: - Parents are not trying to ruin your lives. They do not want you to make some of the same mistakes. - Ask older people about their experiences. - Ask GOD for wisdom. - Do not trade in what you want most for what you want in the moment.
- "Be very careful then, how you live- not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the LORD's will is." Ephesians 5:15-17
- Be very cautious - do not live as "whatever happens, happens."
- Be wise, not unwise; "Boys act on impulse, men think of consequences."
- The unwise act on what they want, but the wise act on what is right.
- Make the most of every opportunity. Do not just "go with the flow," you will not end up where you need to be.
- Do not be foolish, understand what the LORD's will is. We sometimes creep towards sin without getting too deep into it, thinking that we will be ok.
- What do we do with our past? We either run from it or learn from it.
- Our past can not be something that hinders us from living in the present and planning for the future.
- With what I want to become one day, what will I get involved in today?
- Do not sacrifice a tomorrow for doing something today.
- Nobody plans to mess up their life, but nobody plans for failure either.
- GOD can take my past and redeem it into something beautiful.
- God wants to hear from us; anytime, anywhere, and in any way.
- Disobedience leads us to pain.
- Whenever we stop focusing on who is beside us and start focusing on who is in us, powerful things begin to happen.
- If you are trying to avoid God's plan for you, there will always be a boat heading in the opposite direction. Satan will do everything he can to give you a way out of doing what God has called you to do.
- If you want the storm in your life to cease, you need to quit going the way you are going.
- From inside the fish, Jonah prayed to the Lord his God. Jonah 2:1a
- Sometimes in life, you will work harder to disobey God than to do just what he asked.
- The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai: "Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.' Jonah 1:1-2
- But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. Jonah 1:3a
- Then the Lord sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up. Jonah 1:4
- The sailors were afraid and each cried out to his own god. And they threw cargo into the sea to lighten the ship. But Jonah had gone below deck, where he lay down, and fell into a deep sleep. Jonah 1:5
- The captain went to him and said, "How can you sleep? Get up and call on your god! Maybe he will take notice of us so that we will not perish." Joanh 1:6
- Once Jonah was thrown overboard, God provided a huge fish to swallow him. When we are thrown into our own storms, God will send something our way for us to draw closer to Him.
- God will always call you from something, to something.
- But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use to him. Romans 5:8 (The Message)
-Far too often, we will hear the voice of God for someone else much more clearly than we will hear it for ourselves. -God will always call you to the place where you are no longer dependent on you. -You have what it takes to answer God’s calling for your life. -The biggest obstacle to us experiencing God move in our lives tomorrow is clinging too tightly to what God did yesterday. -If God has called you to it, He will equip you through it
- Some detours take us around the block, others take us on a path that you did not plan on being on.
- Is your God big enough to do something you don’t think He can do?
- This is not a story about a big fish, it’s a story about a big God.
- Running with God will always take you to a better place.
