Well, today’s teenagers may know that feeling more than any generation that’s gone before them. In our new 3-week series about stress, students will be reminded that God cares for them, that God uses other people to help them, and that joy is always a choice. By the end of these 3-weeks, students will have a healthy, helpful, and encouraging view of what to do when life just feels like a lot.

If you’ve ever been part of a small group, you know that explaining what that group is and why it meets can be a little complicated. And if you’ve ever had a real group of friends, explaining why they matter so much can be hard to put into words. Is this just a time to hang out? More like a Bible study? Are we all supposed to be friends? In other words, when it comes to small groups, “what’s the point?” In our new installment of Elevate, we’ll raise the bar for the conversation about doing life together. Plus, we’ll discover how each person can make or break their small group experience in junior high school and high school.

That’s because, for a lot of us, the Bible just seems to cause more confusion than clarity. Teenagers are already asking questions, expressing doubts, and wrestling with the idea of faith. So, how can they begin to make sense of the Bible? What is it? How does it work? And why does everybody say it’s helpful when it doesn’t always feel that way? In this series, we’ll take a closer look at the documents that make up the Bible, why so many people trust them, how we can use them, and why we believe that context is key to connecting the ancient words of Scripture to modern times. Understanding the Bible is about more than knowing how to navigate its table of contents. This 4-week series will serve as the framework for how we will better understand the Bible and be able to apply it to our daily lives!

In this series, we’ll discover that our families might be more tied to our own stories than we may have expected. Students all have a tendency to compare themselves to others. The grades they’re getting, the people they’re dating, the friends they have, the clothes they wear, the highlight reel on their social media–it all feels like one long list of what others have that your students just don’t! In this series, we’ll help them discover that comparison not only keeps them from liking others, it steals things like joy, peace, and grace from their lives! And the further they move away from comparison and toward contentment, the more they’ll be able to love who they are just as they are!

Based on a recent report, 1 in 4 teenagers want to be social media influencers someday. In a world of fake news, phishing scams, and so much online spam, how does a digital generation truly learn to navigate their world with wisdom? Let’s talk about it in our next installment of our standalone talks called Elevate. The truth is, we all want to help teenagers navigate their current realities, which means starting a conversation about consuming, creating, and sharing online content responsibly is a key part of helping students build a resilient everyday faith. Well, put simply, some people know how to start the party better than others. Now, our brand new summer-long series called Start The Party isn’t about throwing the best kickbacks imaginable. The kind of party we’re talking about is one that interrupts your routine, helps you celebrate the value of others, and adds a better perspective to your life. See, Jesus was great at these kinds of parties. From weddings to dinner parties, He had a way of leveraging the energy of a good party to remind all of us of what mattered most. Over the course of these eleven weeks, teenagers will be challenged to see ordinary moments as extraordinary opportunities to bring more life, more joy, more hope, and more energy to their own lives and the world around them. From practically serving other people to fostering a personal vision for a better world, all summer long through stories from Scripture and on-the-ground highlights from storytellers around the globe, teenagers will be inspired to be people who make life a party. Our faith is meant to be fun. Our lives are meant to be loaded with joy. Our mission is to make way for other people to get the most out of every day. By the end of this series, students will be ready to Start The Party!

The kind of party we’re talking about is one that interrupts your routine, helps you celebrate the value of others, and adds a better perspective to your life. See, Jesus was great at these kinds of parties. From weddings to dinner parties, He had a way of leveraging the energy of a good party to remind all of us of what mattered most. Over the course of these eleven weeks, teenagers will be challenged to see ordinary moments as extraordinary opportunities to bring more life, more joy, more hope, and more energy to their own lives and the world around them. From practically serving other people to fostering a personal vision for a better world, all summer long through stories from Scripture and on-the-ground highlights from storytellers around the globe, teenagers will be inspired to be people who make life a party. Whether it’s a parent, close friend, sibling, coach, teacher, or anyone at all, when someone hurts you, it can be hard to let it go and move on. In fact, it can feel sweet to stay bitter. But when we don’t forgive, it actually ends up hurting us even more. Forgiveness reminds us of God’s love and mercy for us. We’re not perfect in any way, and even though forgiveness can take time for us to extend to others, God has forgiven us completely for all of our sins. When we know God and experience true forgiveness ourselves, we’re more willing to forgive others.

They are coming into a new awareness and desire for autonomy, but they still live in the reality of having to follow the rules of several authority figures in their lives. In fact, in this season as they desire more and more autonomy they may be learning the reality that there will always be an authority to submit to. This can be even trickier for students who are following Jesus. Because as followers of Jesus, we’re supposed to submit to God’s authority and follow Jesus’ example of responding to authority. In this series, worship can be a powerful tool to remind students that they can trust God, both with their lives and the people in authority over them. As you prepare to lead students this week, spend time reflecting on what it looks like to trust God more and more to be in charge of your life, and pray that your students would encounter a God who they want to trust and follow.

Complicated. Long. Conflicting. Outdated. Contradictory. When it comes to the Bible, you’ve probably heard all that and more from your students. That’s because, for so many of them, the Bible just seems to cause more confusion than clarity. High school is a great time for students to ask questions, express doubts, and wrestle with what they believe in order to develop a personal faith. And maybe nothing brings up more of these types of faith questions than the Bible. What is it? How does it work? And why does everybody say it’s helpful when it doesn’t always feel that way? That’s why, in this series, we’ll take a closer look at the documents that make up the Bible, why we trust them, how we use them and why we believe they can be trusted. Worship is so much more than singing a set of songs. Some people even disengage because they don’t like to sing, or they’re not interested in it. Worship is about responding to God and living for Him every day of our lives.
This week we’re setting the stage to help you identify what true worship looks like and how it’s lived out. In order to get there though, we need to identify what we’re putting before God in our lives, what our idols are, and, ultimately, what we’re worshiping.
The final message in our Declaration series is titled, “Not Done But Just Getting Started”. This message is focused on using the influence God has given us to change the world we live in. If we stand with God in life, He will stand with us in the fire. We will never be able to influence the world by being like it. Instead, we were created to make a declaration for God through the way that we live. To do this, we must first know who God is so that we can know who He created us to be. We cannot fight battles if we do not remember who we are. We are a generation whose life is an anthem of victory, and we are going to make the world memorize every word of it.
The second message in this series is “Not Afraid but Bold” and we are focusing on what it means to rise up as the Body of Christ and banish fear from every context we encounter. Understand that the opposite of fear isn’t courage and boldness, that’s a byproduct. The opposite of fear is faith and love. As the Word says, “Perfect love casts out all fear.’ The win is for you to rise up in faith and love, declaring God’s will over our cities, families, and schools. As a byproduct, boldness and courage will follow.
The first message in this series is entitled “Not One but Many” and we are focusing on the realities of the Body of Christ, interdependence, “better together,” and revolution. It is about understanding that the Enemy doesn’t have to make us sin, he just needs us to be divided and against one another in order to render us ineffective. This message will help you refocus on what really matters.
