There are just a handful of dietitians specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorder across the country. Since her brother was diagnosed with ASD over two decades ago, Brittyn Coleman has been immersed in learning about the diagnosis. Her master’s thesis studied food aversions and nutrient intake in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Before starting her private practice, she worked in interdisciplinary clinics and centers for kids with a wide variety of developmental disabilities, but her heart always stayed with ASD. She felt led to begin her own telehealth practice to increase the reach of nutrition therapy and nutrition education for families and individuals affected by ASD.

November is National Diabetes Month. There is a lot of misinformation out there about diabetes. As a number of us serve students living with diabetes, I’m excited to be have a national spokesperson for the American Association of Diabetes Educators (https://www.diabeteseducator.org) on today to clear up some of the confusion around diabetes management.
Marlisa is a Registered Dietitian, Certified Diabetes Educator Author and Chef. She has been president of Total Wellness Inc., > 20 years, has a BS in Marketing and MS in Nutrition: she specializes in diabetes, cardiovascular disease and gastrointestinal disorders.
Marlisa has made numerous television appearances including 5 years on “International Healthy Cooking” for AHA. She is author of “Gluten-Free Hassle Free”, and “Easy, Gluten-Free”, other contributions include: Shape, Food Service Management, Newsday, Parenting Magazine, Weight and Training for Dummies. Department of Juvenile Justice works to protect and serve the citizens of Georgia by holding young offenders accountable for their actions and by supporting these children to become productive lives as law-abiding citizens. Despite that there is confusion and misinformation around the treatment of kids in the care of DJJ. This episode I speak with Stephanie Henesy, Chief of the Office of Nutrition & Food Services at DJJ. She sheds light on what the nutrition department does to nourish and support the students at DJJ. Dr. Linette Dodson PhD RD LD SNS FAND is the current School Nutrition Director for the Georgia Department of Education. Linette has a long history with school nutrition. During her tenure with Carrollton City Schools she built an award-winning nutrition and Farm to School program. Dr. Dodson completed her PhD at Iowa State University conducting research focused on registered dietitians in leadership roles in school nutrition. Chef Ann Cooper is a celebrated author, chef, educator and enduring advocate for better food for all children. Known as the “Renegade Lunch Lady”, Ann has been honored by The National Resources Defense Council, selected as a Kellogg Food and Society Policy Fellow, and awarded an honorary doctorate from SUNY Cobleskill for her work. In 2016, Ann was named “One of the Top 50 Food Activists” by the Academy of Culinary Nutrition. In 2009, Ann founded the nonprofit Chef Ann Foundation (CAF) to focus on solutions to the school food crisis. CAF provides tools, training, resources and funding to support schools transitioning to scratch-cooked meals made with whole, healthy food.
