Residents in Westmeath are looking for answers following the unannounced arrival of ayslum seekers.
A total of 150 men are being transferred to Harry's Hotel in Kinnegad last Thursday without any prior consultation, according to local Labour councillor Denis Leonard.
It's believed there are more asylum seekers yet to arrive.
A man in his 50s was also assaulted at the hotel at 9.45 on Monday morning and a man in his 40s was subsequently arrested.
Councillor Leonard has been telling Midlands 103's Ellen Butler that, while they're not opposed to asylum seekers, neither the hotel nor the town have the capacity to support such a volume of people...

Accusations that Fianna Fáil is abusing its majority on Offaly County Council to reserve powerful chairmanships for its own members are being branded as "a political stunt to stay in the headlines".
Independent councillor Seán O'Brien claims Fianna Fáil reneged on an agreement among Tullamore Municipal District rep to rotate the role of cathaoirleach, with an opposition councillor to take up the role this year.

On the 23rd of April, we will be hosting a similar launch day in Tullamore called Offaly Proud. It will be held in Hugh Lynch’s Bar (outside area). There will be music, activities for children, trading stalls, drag queen bingo and much more, with free admission for our day-time event. In the evening, we will be holding a Drag Queen show upstairs in the bar, for which tickets are now on sale. Leading up to the event, we host a window display competition with some fantastic prizes to be won. You will soon be seeing rainbows all around the area in shop windows. We are handing out free decoration packs to businesses who want to get involved and help us spread some love and community (and of course, a splash of colour). The counties will now be marketed as part of the 'Hidden Heartlands', having previously been split with the 'Ireland's Ancient East' brand.

'Teaching kids how to cook is a life skill' according to Catherine Foxall from Ballymaddock Cookery Club. An explosion which killed over 100 people in Sierra Leon, has left hundreds of families trying to locate their loved ones. Family-owned Writech has agreed on an investment arrangement with Waterland Private Equity. An Offaly man is one of just five cadets to receive his commission as an officer in the Naval Service today. Cadet Adam Galvin will receive the title of ensign and is a step closer to a career working on some of the nation's big ships.
