Marty Funkhauser, man, myth, funk slut was born in the thriving metropolis of Taber, Alberta in 19*6. In 2011 he returned to his roots in Lethbridge, Alberta after honing his skills, terrorizing people and crafting his signature grease funk sound for 10 ten years in Vancouver, B.C. Marty loves to freely travel through all things funk and disco, from all out disco edit sets, funky jackin house, mid tempo funk, if it's funky it'll be played. Meticulous track selection and layered mixing is Martys forte. He has been featured twice on DJ Dans legendary Stereo Damage Podcast as well as the House Salad podcast and has opened for a slew of legends including DJ Dan, A. Skillz, Krafty Kuts, Mr. Switch, Deekline, DJ Brace, Tommy Largo, Neon Steve, Funkanomics, Slynk, Featurecast, Basement Freaks as well as opening for Stickybuds numerous times in Nelson BC, Lethbridge and Medicine Hat. The last 3 years have seen him twice at Shindig Festival (UK), Fozzy Fest 3 times, Vibrant Music Festival, Bass in the Bush, Moab Pride in Utah with DJ Dan, Vancouver Pride, Edmonton Pride, Astral Harvest as well as being a yearly resident at LEMF. Marty has been a part of the LEMF crew here in Lethbridge since it's inception 9 years ago and has served as President of the organizing committee for the past 4 years handling artist bookings, throwing local shows throughout the year, fundraising and whatever else he can to try and push electronic music to more people in Southern Alberta. LEMF is the only free all ages, family friendly music festival in Southern Alberta which is done solely on grants from the City of Lethbridge and yearly fundraising.

Ok I am finally back with something new for you all after an extended pandemic hiatus! Hope you've all been keeping safe and healthy throughout this, super happy to get this mix out to you all. I got some good feedback on the first instalment of this mix did so bringing back another 90 mins of chill, downbeat road trip type tunes to help soothe those winter days. I brought in the extremely talented Jimi Needles to add some fresh cuts and FX to the mix as well, super happy with how this came together. Hope you all enjoy it as much I did putting it together!

Ayooo, I'm back with another classics mix, this time we cover one of my first loves, progressive trance. I really loved this era of trance, it was when I was first getting into the scene in the mid to late 90's. I fell in love with this sound right away before getting into house music. It really was a different era that I am happy to have grown up in musically and all of these tracks take me back to that time when everything was new and I was just a puppy, really great memories. Alright, I'm so happy to get this mix out to you guys finally. I've had it in the back of my mind for a long time. I vividly recall buying my first Olav Basoski record In Vancouver at Otis Records in 1999. I had been dj'ing less than a couple months and it was a used copy of Samplitude 6. Hearing the tracks on that record completely changed my perception of what I thought house was, being a huge disco fan I fell in love with Olavs's production style and the way he used his samples. Long story short it was a game changer and a huge influence then and now on the style of music I play. Seeing him play back then at Frostee 4 and Magic Mountain are memories I'll never forget, if you were there you know. I hope I did his music justice on this mix, I mainly stuck with original productions from the Samplitude series and from his excellent label Rootz Records. For me it's the purest form and really the remixes could be a whole other mix on their own. Olav if you read this thanks so much for all you've done for house music, you should be super proud of everything you've accomplished, quite simply you were a game changer for myself and a lot of people. Big ups!

Alrighty, Apparently I've been dj'ing 15 years so I wanted to do a little throwback mix for y'all. This one concentrates on a time where I was really starting to dig a little deeper with house. The time period is from 1998-2004 when I had just moved to Vancouver and was discovering a bigger scene than what I had been exposed to. It was a really great time for me and the music reflects that. If you were around then and hanging out at the World, Celebrities, Odyssey, or any of the after hours then you'll likely recognize a lot of this stuff. While they may not be classics to everyone each of them has a special memory attached to it. Tons of vocals in this one and really funky all the way, some things never change.
