I played a great party on Friday Nov 4th. A whole night of Soul music, my cup of tea! Felt really good to play nothing but Soul and have a packed jamming Dance floor. I tried to record my entire 5 hour set but my recorder was giving me problems and I only got this hour and 10 minutes of it. It's a really enjoyable set, a little before prime time so it's not all the typical Motown Classics, but I do start working in some of them. This party was so good! Look out for it becoming a regular monthly or maybe even a weekly! Something to check out if you in the Toronto area. I've been getting many request's to post more episodes. In the summer of 2008 I was asked to do a Remix for Ivana Santilli's down-tempo Radio R&B joint 'Whateva U Want'. I ended up making two different Remixes. Ivana and her management accepted my Lover's Rock Reggae Remix (Scroll down to listen or Download), but passed on THIS Up-Tempo/Disco ish one. It really surprised me that they didn't take this one as well. Anyhow, I always liked it so I finished it for our Remix Album/Mixtape which is out now! Big Shouts to the fantastic musicians who contributed greatly to this Remix. Kenny 'Bounce' Neal on Bass and Sean Nimmons-Patterson on the Keys, Organ and Cello.

NOT A FULL PODCAST!!! Just a Remix I PRODUCED for Toronto/NY R&B Soul singer IVANA SANTILLI. I was asked to do a 'Hip Hop' Remix but I instantly heard the song as a reggae tune! So I put it together on the MPC 2000 and then hit the studio and reproduce my remix LIVE with the JAMAICA TO TORONTO band. Full horn section and all! Produced and arranged by yours truly DJ Fase.

Anyone that truly knows me or has seen my record collection, knows that as much as I'm a Hip Hop head, I love my Jazz! I wish I could play jazz a lot more, but it seems a lot of people can't really wrap there heads around it. Dame shame! This is another early evening set recorded at my long running Footwork Tuesdays (I play the real good shit before it gets too busy). It's about 45 minutes the first half is on the funkier side of things and the second half gets really jazzy. Everything played here was recorded in the last few years (give or take), except "Spinnin" by Bernard Wright, the Gladys Knight vocals of the "Grapevine" Remix and "Keep Her Happy" by Phillip Wright. This might surprise you, as it should, but don't let it defer you from giving it a good listen. Good Funk and Jazz is still being made, just go out and find it! FYI It's Questlove (from 'The Roots') on the drums in the "I Heard It Through The Grapevine (Sympathy For The Grapes Mix)" Dig it!

This past Boxing day (12/26/07) I did a guest spot at Matt Medley's Remix This! Wednesday Nights @ Andy Poolhall in Toronto. This night has a different guest DJ every week and asks the DJ to play or create remixes. I have always enjoyed doing accapella blends since I first started DJ'ing 15 years ago. Way before the so called "Mash-Up" Style was trendy!
It's about an hour and 20 minutes and gets a little sloppy near the end, as the double whiskey's I was drinking started sinking in. LOL
