Welcome to 8 Bit Sessions - Guest Mixes, with guest DJ Storm-E. This episode is the first Female artist debut on the show, and its a dirty, bass heavy, Trap set that sets the bar to a new height. Get ready Portland, this DJ is one not to pass up on, So turn it up, 8 Bit Sessions is on the air.

Storm-E: Music has always been an important part of Storm-E's life. Ever since she has been old enough to know how to operate a stereo, there has always been a cassette or CD playing. Her first job was working at a music store throughout her high school years. This experience allowed her to learn how diverse music is and enabled Storm-E to appreciate every genre. Storm-E was born and raised in Dallas where music is everywhere but she didn't start hitting clubs until she was twenty. Storm-E has always been intrigued about the different aspects of deejaying. It wasn't until 2001 that she decided that it would be something she would consider trying. After seeing Icey that same year, Storm-E bought her first set of turntables. Although she admits she had no idea what the hell she was doing, her frustration turned into determination and she eventually taught herself how to spin. While checking out Dallas' breakbeat scene in 2002, Storm-E met The Breakbeat Brothers (DJ Shaolin and DJ Raydar). After getting to know them she saw how gracious they were to the crowd they played for and asked them to critique a CD of hers. That led to guest mixes and appearances at several local Dallas clubs and her first residency at Soul 2 Soul. It was during this time that she became good friends with Shaolin and Raydar and was asked to join their label, 2R Recordings. In 2008, along with Sno White (Dallas), Sarah Stylez (Dallas), Kelly Trance (Oklahoma), and Jay Nicole (Austin) an all female dj crew was formed called The VINYL VIXENS. Over the last several years, Storm-E has been fortunate enough to have residencies in several of Dallas' well known clubs including Soul 2 Soul, Club Aria, Liquid, Euphoria, ECCO Lounge with Raydar & Shaolin, Club One with Gravity Defiant Alliance, Global Residency @ The Lizard Lounge with Jeremy Word..to name a few. Storm-E was also featured as a guest on several radio and internet programs including The Afterparty on 106.7, The Edgeclub on 102.1 w/Uberzone, Scy High Radio, and Radio UTD. In addition to this, Storm-E has been on the same bill as and opened up for several well-known djs including DJ Irene, DJ Rap, Sharaz, Dieselboy, AK1200, Jackal & Hyde, Dara, DJ Venom, Alex Peace, J-Break, Frankie Bones, Jen Lasher, Uberzone, Simply Jeff, Josh the Funky One, DJ Monk, DJ Dan, Junkie XL, Keoki, DJ Icey, Dave Aude, Eddie Halliwell, DJ X, DJ Magic Mike, DJ Baby Anne, Richard "Humpty" Vission, Hybrid, Stanton Warriors, Charles Feelgood, DJ Fixx, Infected Mushroom, Christopher Lawrence, Donald Glaude, Bad Boy Bill, George Acosta, Scooter & Lavelle, Reid Speed, The Bassbin Twins, Dylan Rhymes, Ferry Corsten, Plump Djs and many others. Recently Storm-E has been focusing on working on production writing music while continuing to focus on spinning locally and playing other cities as well. Frontzide Records recently signed two of her tracks that have an upcoming summer release on Beatport. Ultimately, she hopes to continue to do what it is that she loves to do....making and spinning music for all of those that have the same passion about music as she does.

Welcome to 8 Bit Sessions - Guest Mixes with guest DJ Gotek. This is a killer progressive trance/house set that was recorded live at the Whiskey Bar in Portland Oregon. This mix is being exclusively released on 8 Bit Sessions and was actually the DJ Gotek's opening set for the LANGE show at Whiskey Bar on Saturday, March 9th, 2013. DJ Gotek: Mark McCarthy a.k.a. DJ Gotek is a Seattle-based DJ spinning Trance, Progressive House, Techno, Deep House, and other assorted electronic beats. Mark has been been into electonica his whole life and started spinning about 8 years ago. DJ Gotek's EDM DJ mixes have been featured around the world on Internet radio stations like DI.FM and Trance Euphoria 2013, and local NW radio such as KNRK 94.7FM in Portland and more recently on KSER 90.7FM "The Tunnel" in Seattle. DJ Gotek has been playing at a growing list of clubs around the NW and is currently a resident DJ for the Mission Trance show at the Whiskey Bar in Portland, OR. DJ Gotek has been opening for some top DJ talent from around the world in recent months such as The Blizzard, Cressida, Roger Shah, Ronski Speed, Protoculture, and Lange. Mark’s passion is electronic dance music and hopefully it shows in the mixes he creates.
