Instead, he calls Christians to walk by the Spirit and bear the fruit that comes from a transformed life in Jesus Christ. In this verse-by-verse Bible study, we discuss: What it means to stand fast in the freedom Christ provides Why justification cannot be earned through the Law Faith working through love The danger of returning to bondage and legalism Using freedom to serve others rather than indulge the flesh The ongoing conflict between the flesh and the Spirit The works of the flesh and their consequences The fruit of the Spirit and how it develops in believers What it means to crucify the flesh with its passions and desires Walking in step with the Holy Spirit dailyThis chapter reveals that the Christian life is not about earning salvation through works, nor is it about continuing in sin. 1. Making Disciples - Part 5: The Promise Of The Holy Spirit by David Grams

View Details

If we're going to minister like Jesus ministered, we need to prepare like He prepared. Jesus often spent entire nights in prayer to the Father before a day's work of ministry. He was not recharging, but simply remaining in the Father...staying connected to the source of His power. Without prayer, busyness causes us to get independent and self-sustaining, which will only lead to burn-out. And in prayer, we will learn to love people. Faith is activated by love, so without love, we cannot truly exercise any powerful faith. To believe is to endure, and only love can endure all things. So, we need to love in order to have faith for miracles. This means that we need to develop a relentless love for people, in private first, in order to grow in a powerful faith that will see the hurting healed.

  1. Making Disciples - Part 2 - How Jesus Did It by David Grams

View Details

If discipleship, to us, means only producing people who believe the fact of Jesus' Lordship, but do not truly follow Him, we are failing. Discipleship means producing disciples -- people who, themselves, walk like Christ and make disciples. If we think we succeed by making believers, we are deceived. We're only producing people with a false hope, bringing no fruit to maturity, and destined to fall away when tribulation comes. A religious belief cannot save, but only a conviction and full surrender to the obedience of the gospel. To make disciples, we are instructed to spend enough time with people that they witness the fullness of a relationship with Christ before being presented with the final choice to receive or reject Him. If we are not walking like Christ, then when we are rejected, Christ is not being rejected, but rather, our false representation of Him.

View Details

The Bible says that he who loves people has no cause for stumbling in him. The goal is not to sin less, but to love more. As we learn to receive the love of God and love people as a result, sin will automatically fade away. And love will keep up from becoming conceited and power-hungry as we pursue the gifts of the Spirit. Water baptism is about dying with Christ and rising with Him into new life, free from sin and empowered for a lifestyle led by the Holy Spirit. Baptism is not merely an outward sign of inward change. The biblical context of baptism suggests that proper faith makes the moment of our baptism the very moment that we die with Christ and receive freedom. Baptism is not required to be saved, but for all of us who have the opportunity to be baptized, it is expected -- a must.

The book of Haggai prophesies that the latter temple, understood as the church, would have a glory that would be the Desire of all Nations. What about Jesus makes Him the desire of all nations? All creation longs to be freed from the bondage of corruption, and that's exactly what Jesus came to bring us. If we, as Christians, cannot see it through that people are set free from sin, we have become a reproach to the gospel. Our calling is to deliver people from the power of Satan and unto new life in Christ. We are not here to merely deliver a message of heaven after death. Eternal life is about present transformation and deliverance from the corruption of this world, where peace and joy through righteousness will reign.

View Details

A clear understanding of who we are is critical to becoming people of great faith. Our right standing with God and identity in Christ makes for a confidence with God. And faith itself is not something like a spiritual tool we occasionally use. Faith is to be something we become -- a disposition, something inherent to who we are. By definition, true faith carries no doubt with it. And faith that carries no doubt never fails to succeed. We are to renew our minds until expectation of the miraculous becomes automatic to us -- our response by default. Until conviction of spiritual realities becomes our natural response, we are not people of great faith.

The gospel demonstrates the righteousness of God -- the equity, kindness, and impartiality of God. When we are redeemed and brought back you our created purpose, the goodness of God though us is put on display to the world. The restored marriage, a mended family, a captive set free, an infirm person healed...all these things testify of the love of God for mankind. We all were once destined to destruction and eternal separation from God, but when the kindness of God appeared in the person of Jesus Christ, salvation came to us all, proving to every principality and power and opponent of God, that no man is forgotten by God, no man is cast aside; no man is left without the opportunity to be delivered from the corruption of this present, evil world.

View Details

The devil has attempted to accuse us and accuse God from the beginning. He's made every effort to make sure that we doubt the goodness of God. But he's lost the war. Now that our hearts are won to the Father because of the love of the gospel, the Holy Spirit in us reveals the goodness of God and proves to the devil that his accusations are invalid. We've been made right with God. Our struggle is not in there effort to get right with God. The battle is to resist the devil and reveal the love of God to the world around us.

View Details

Everything that Jesus did He did as a man in perfect relationship with God. He temporarily emptied Himself of His omnipotence and omnipresence to minister to the world as a Man anointed with the Holy Spirit, while maintaining His deity in nature. This He did, in part, to prove to us that we to do what He did, because we have the same Spirit that He had living in us as well. All that separates us from Christ, aside from His divinity, is that we have the history of a sinful nature that He came to wash away. As long as our minds remain stained by guilt and shame, we will be powerless and our potential in Christ neutralized.

View Details

Jesus told His disciples that they should be one with each other just as Jesus is one with the Father. He also said that the Father loves us just as He loved Jesus. As we receive the love of the Father, that same love will be proven in our relationships with people, and that love with produce unity -- oneness. We are told to seek to fully comprehend His love, to fully become and possess His love...when we are love as He is love, we will be filled with the fullness of God.

View Details

When Jesus overcame all that He suffered, He proved to us that we can overcome all that we suffer. Christ was crucified to bear all of our sorrow and pain upon Himself, so that believing in Him, we could be free. The love that continued in Christ while He lived is the same love that dwells in us, so we have the ability to walk and love just as He did. No mistreatment from man, no matter how harsh, is any excuse to be overcome by evil and react with rage or clamor. When, by the love of God within us, we choose to not be defined or affected by man's slander, we prove that we have been delivered from the corruption of this present world.

View Details

Our hearts are now the place of God's dwelling. The sons of God being made manifest is synonymous with the legendary Most Holy Place being made manifest. If we cannot have confidence in God-in-us, we will not have confidence in God anywhere else. A self-confidence in Christ, in knowing our identity, is the foundation of a living intimacy with Christ. For our communion with God is by the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. Worship is now in spirit, unhindered by locational or circumstantial limitations.

View Details

The Blood of Jesus now supplies us with the boldness to enter into the Most Holy Place of intimacy with God, where we hear His voice and experience the life-transforming power of His manifest Presence. When we believe in the Blood of Jesus and let His work be the basis of our intimacy with God, we experience His Presence and our lives are conformed to His image. The righteousness of Christ in us, working in our hearts and making us more like Him, makes us unashamed before Him, washing away our sin and removing the consciousness of it. Now that sin has been washed away, it should no longer be the reason we pray, but forever defeated.

By the Holy Spirit, God has made every one of His children into kings and priests. We exercise His authority over creation, serve as ambassadors of His and ministers of reconciliation as priests, and we live as His mouthpiece by the gift of prophecy. More than anything, we should endeavor to love everyone around us, and the gifts of the Spirit will follow us to enhance our love with the miraculous. Tongues do have a purpose in the present church, a purpose which is often misunderstood. Every gift of the Spirit is to be used with humility, self-control, and submission to authority in the church.

The goal of the Valiant Church is to raise up people who will be those shepherds who leave the 99—the flock of mainstream Christianity—to rescue wayward lambs from the mouths of the lions...the victims of human trafficking, drug and alcohol abuse, prostitution, gang activity, and witchcraft. The goal is to be those mighty men of valor who search out and destroy the remaining giants in the land—those evils that have bred spiritual corruption and dysfunction in the church and in culture. Every member of Valiant Church we will train to be one of these shepherds and one of these mighty men.

View Details

The Bible outlines for the church of Jesus Christ that every member of the body should be given permission to speak under inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The world will be convinced and convicted when all Christians are functioning by the power of the Holy Spirit. Let's not confine God to the limits of our church traditions and start giving the control to the Spirit and not to the clergy. God prefers the vitality of fallible people over the deadness of a religious liturgy.

View Details

As Christians who've been influenced by 1700 years of religious tradition, starting with emperor Constantine, we've forgotten that what we know as "church" didn't actually exist in the days of the apostles. Church wasn't something you went to; it was something you were. We've found it difficult to imagine God moving outside of the boundaries of our common church practices. God actually wants to move most outside of our buildings and through His people as a living church of Christ--the body of Christ. No one will find the fullness of God's power in church, but rather, by being the church to the world. Let's not reject revival for fear of losing our beloved traditions!

View Details

The heart of evangelism is the call to every disciple of Christ to care for and watch over their own flock of disciples. If we all were diligent to nurture those few entrusted to our care, our culture would be transformed. God doesn't want us all to be instructors of doctrine; He wants us to be fathers of the little ones who need nourishment. The fruit we produce to reveal that we are truly abiding in Christ is a balance of both His character and His active love for people. We will produce fruit of disciples if we are truly His disciples. A voiceless faith is a dead faith. Pure faith in Christ is to keep oneself unspotted from the world and to care for orphans and widows in their distress.

There are three primary purposes for physical healing explained in this sermon, after which you will know that if God is responsible for keeping someone sick, He would be a liar, as His Word tells us that sickness is from the devil, and Jesus came to "destroy the works of the devil." Also, healing is for everyone, and the only condition God places on being healed is being sick. If you're sick, Jesus says He came to heal you. Healing fulfills the prophecies about the Messiah's life. Jesus came also to empower every one of His disciples to heal the sick and cast out demons. It is in our hands to uproot any unbelief in our hearts and receive His commission to pray for the sick and hurting, that they might be healed. Our faith is the decisive factor. Miracles are not for our assurance, but for the purpose of loving those around us.

View Details

True sonship is being free from dependence on man for support and assurance. Jesus knew the hearts of men, that they were flawed and ultimately an unreliable source of security. So, Jesus demonstrated true relationship with God by depending solely on the guidance of support of the Father. Jesus from absorbed in His intimacy with the Father, and that's all that He ever needed. He didn't need a human support group, and He was never offended by the abandonment or betrayal of people. Why? Because His contentment was never committed into the hands of fallible people. This is the foundation of all faith, peace, and joy. In addition, introduced in this sermon are basic principles of healing ministry...healing was paid for on the cross and therefore, we are ministers of healing just as we are preachers of the cross and resurrection of Christ. It is always God's will to heal the sick, just as it is always His will to save the lost; as, both were paid for in the moment of Christ's crucifixion.

The Bible teaches us not to deny the presence of the supernatural in other world religions, but simply to demonstrate the superiority of Christ's power over other religions. In evangelism, we should not insult a foreign hearer by denying the validity of their spiritual experiences, but rather, affirm that only Christ can set them free from the effects of their sin and from death.

Modern Christian evangelism is predicated mostly on apologetics and the use of reason. However, the Bible teaches that we should be using love and power as the forefront of our witness, undergirded by our ability to explain what we believe. Reason is often the path to faith, but it cannot ultimately produce it. Seek boldness, freedom from the limitation of the natural mind...endeavor to confront the unbelief of this world with risky faith in disregard for being thought a fool. Relying on logic to preach the gospel is precisely what makes the cross of Christ of no effect.

We are the likeness -- the resemblance and revelation -- of His resurrection to the world. We should expect that our lives, in spirit, soul, and body, provide the world with a dose of Jesus' resurrection power, as to be the living proof that He is risen. We ought not to be advocates of a doctrine we believe is right, but rather, we should be witnesses of a living we Christ we know and resurrection power that cannot be denied...not because we think we believe it, but because we've seen and heard it. In addition, we have been reconciled to God, and by definition of that word, should endeavor that our personalities mimic that of Christ...to be reconciled is to compound a difference between two to make them the same, not just restore a relationship.

It's important that we know how to share the gospel with skeptics, namely, atheists and agnostics. First of all, by living a life that's pure and blameless, we remove from the opponent the option of using our hypocrisy as reason for their disbelief. Let your life vindicate the name of Jesus, and then you can think about using intelligence to explain your faith to the skeptic. Evangelism is not about proving that God exists, but rather, revealing His true character -- His true personality. In addition, there is value in knowing science and biblical history; but above those things, believe and expect that God will use you for the revelation of Christ through miraculous signs and wonders.

Christians need the gospel just as much as anyone else. It's not enough to merely confess that you believe in Jesus. Why? Because even the demons believe, and they tremble! Christians needs to understand that confession and belief is only step one in the progressive experience of eternal life. Jesus came to give us eternal life that's defined by knowing the Father, not just professing that Jesus is Lord. Paul said, referring to the Old Covenant, that circumcision is useless when there is no obedience to the Word of God. The confession of "I go to church" has become the modern day circumcision...a confession that's empty -- like a marriage vow that's made at a wedding without any honor for those vows in everyday life.

The law magnifies sin and suppresses identity in Christ. If we are to walk in the power of God's grace, we need to understand that we've been justified. Justified -- made innocent and restored to original value...made just as if we never sinned. Pure and blameless in spirit, soul, and body. We have been delivered from the consciousness of sin, to be ushered into a consciousness of who we are in Christ, and the righteousness that's been given to us. We are to be so lost in the goodness of God that we don't have time anymore to think about resisting sin. Righteousness is to be our new default, now that we are filled with the fruit of the Spirit.

Genuine faith in Jesus always carries corresponding action. We know someone's faith by the way they live. In addition, it is by works that we demonstrate our desire for eternal life. For this reason, we are justified by the beautiful matrimony of faith and holiness. By patient continuance in doing good we seek for glory, honor, and immortality, as Romans 2 states. Seeking to live like Christ is what reveals that we truly desire heaven. And it is the practice of righteousness that reveals we have been made righteous inside. In evangelism, it should not be our goal to lead someone in a prayer, but to reveal the knowledge of God that leads to salvation; because eternal life in not to confess that Jesus is Lord, but to know God (John 17:3). Acknowledgement of Christ or belief in God is only the beginning. Even the demons believe in God, and they tremble.

In this first part of a new series on sharing the gospel, Pastor David Grams explains how a Christian ought to share with others a balance of repentance and faith. Genuine faith always includes corresponding action, and true surrender to Jesus always includes heartfelt repentance. First, we must repent in our minds -- change our approach to God by an understanding of His grace, so that our confidence is not in works of the law. The resurrection of Christ, for the Christian, is the assurance of our newness in Him; but for the unbeliever, the resurrection is the assurance of coming judgment. Without faith in Jesus and subsequent repentance, eternal separation from God in Hell a person's destiny. Hell, when properly explained, convicts the world and brings the lost to repentance...the doctrine of Hell is not hate speech, when it is communicated in love. Never diminish the truth, no matter the offense that results. Implore the world to believe on the name of Jesus and be reconciled to God, knowing that if they say No to God, God will give them none of Himself for eternity.

We all are expected to seek God for ourselves and be independently filled with the Holy Spirit, free from dependence on other Christians for our sustenance. God desires intimacy with us...to be a personal friend and not merely a deity to be feared. Pursuing God requires also that we not only admire the wonders of God, but let those wonders become motivation to seek Him even more. Let's not be spectators or admirers, but rather, partners with Him. Greater faith in Him comes through action. An active and obedient pursuit leads to greater courage.

The purpose of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is to immerse us in the power of God, so that we may be empowered to represent Christ in the world around us. The Holy Spirit lives in us for our sake, but He comes upon us for the sake of the world. The effects of the Holy Spirit's baptism are undeniable, and includes much more than praying in tongues. The gifts and fruits of the Spirit will all be evident. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is not an optional Christian perk; it is a necessary power for our witness in this world. Let's not wait until something catastrophic happens in order for us to prioritize the power of God in our lives.

View Details

A common misconceptions circulating within the modern church is the notion that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is all about speaking in tongues. That's NOT true. The baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to the Bible is a separate enduement of power intended to equip a follower of Jesus for a surrendered life dedicated to the cause of the Great Commission. The Holy Spirit comes upon us to empower us for a lifestyle ministry. If we are not surrendered to the Great Commission, the baptism of the Holy Spirit will have little effect on our lives. The Holy Spirit responds to our hunger. If we will choose to reveal Jesus to the world and take action, the Spirit of God will meet us in that decision to empower us!

Each one's personal intimacy with Jesus is far more powerful than the application of a Christian formula for healing or breakthrough. There is no formula for relationship with God. There is no "six-steps to knowing Jesus". We all will find Jesus uniquely as we seek Him for ourselves wholeheartedly. In addition, in order to walk with Christ, we need to make it a priority to go where He's going. There is a realm of intimacy with God that can only be found though active outreach to the world. It is when we reach out to the world in love that we will experience the closeness of Christ healing through our hands and speaking through our mouth.

View Details

The New Testament states explicitly that Jesus came to heal all who were/are sick. We believe that it is always God's will to heal and that He chose to heal once and for all when He sent Jesus. That being said, many use the story of Job as an objection. The book of Job needs to be understood in its proper context and in comparison with New Covenant truths. Still, there's a lot we can learn from Job that most certainly applies to us today. One of the main lessons from Job is that self-righteousness keeps Christians in anguish more than anything else. Those who attempt to be justified by works of the law are estranged from Christ!

View Details

Healing makes you responsible. The Holy Spirit wants to teach us how to walk in a lifestyle of divine health (in spirit, soul, and body) through application of God's Word. Although the grace and love of God are the basis of miraculous healing, we are responsible to be good stewards of that healing power by not abusing our minds and bodies through willful neglect of our health. We are to fortify ourselves through an intentional stewardship of our bodies, while relying on the grace of God to sustain us. Prayer and fasting are keys to staying in faith and staying spiritually healthy. Let us not forget that it's very easy to become a slave to the body if food or other comforts become an addiction.

The unity that's to exist between Christians is to be identical to the unity that exists between Jesus and the Father -- one heart, one spirit, one mind, free of conflict and perfect in harmony. The same is to be true in the context of a marriage. A married man and woman are to deny themselves and give up their right to their own opinion, in order to take on the mind and nature of Christ. For if they each adopt the mind of Christ, they will be thinking with the same mind, and therefore, conflict and disagreement will be impossible. This should be our expectation. When did God ever tell us to expect conflict in marriage as normal? The Bible teaches that there is to be no division or discord in Christian communities. In addition, an individual's purpose is to be one whose Christ-like beauty distracts their spouse from the cares of life and unto the person of Jesus. We are called to be a healthy and good distraction to the people in our lives.

We are each responsible to search out the lies we may be believing and seek to destroy them with corresponding truth. This habit of introspection will bind up the loose ends in our thinking and ensure there are no gaps in the joints of our armor. The Bible teaches that we are to perfect what is lacking in our faith -- address every weak spot in our faith. This practice is preparation for trial that is coming upon the earth. Persecution will only grow worse. Will we be able to stand?

View Details

Most Christians don't understand the purpose of marriage, nor the power it possesses when built God's way. In order to create a culture in our churches and in our society that resembles the kingdom of heaven, we need to ensure that our marriages are established in truth and selfless love. When biblical marriage is lost, nations crumble. Marriage is not about how a person benefits from their spouse's partnership with them. It's about how their relationship becomes a mirror image of the love of God for the world.

Jesus taught His disciples that their love for one another would be the proof to the world that they were truly His disciples. Spiritual maturity is proven by the maturity of your love. Regardless of the miracles God may work through our hands, if we cannot love the people closest to us with selfless grace, we are not mature. The love of God comes to maturity in us when we love our brethren. And our love must flow out of honor for a person's identity in Christ, not out of an insecure need to gain love from people.

The Fear of the Lord is the key to intimacy with God, the basis of any thriving Christian community, the foundation of honor between people...if heaven's culture will ever be created in our churches, the fear of the Lord, as a principle trait in every heart, must be cultivated. If we don't fear and honor God, we won't honor people.

We are seated with Christ at the right hand of the Father -- the work is finished, redemption is accomplished, and there is nothing more that we need from God. The Christian walk is defined by learning to rest in the finished work of Jesus. As we learn to rest, our faith becomes effective. Any prayer that flows from worry, anxiety, or strain is a works-based relationship, which will produce nothing of value in our lives. We need to learn to see ourselves seated in victory over hell and the grave with Christ at the right hand of the Father...when this truth becomes our resolute conviction, we will walk in powerful faith.

Ignorance is our greatest enemy. Jesus died and rose again to institute a new covenant that would give us new knowledge of identity and victory in Christ. Defeat doesn't come from not having victory. It comes from not knowing about an already accomplished victory. In the book of Esther, the Jews didn't defeat their attackers by being helped by the king's armies. They defeated them by being emboldened by an inspiring decree sealed in the king's name. All things that pertain to life and godliness come through the knowledge of Him (2 Peter 1:3).

What is the kingdom of God, and what does it first to seek first the kingdom of God? The Bible tells us that God's kingdom is not a place, as much as it is the inhabitation of God within us. Jesus said that the kingdom of God is within us (Luke 17:21). God's resources are now ours. To us it has been granted that we taste of the powers of the age to come, so that our lives become the anticipation of heaven.

God has made a covenant with us. This covenant has blessed us with the resources and powers of heaven, with no fear of any cursing for disobedience. Jesus has delivered us from the curse of the law -- from fear of punishment. We are in a covenant of exclusive blessing. God will do us good and not evil all the days of our lives. We are kings and heirs together with Christ, appointed to be His representatives -- His ambassadors -- in this world.

For every destiny, there's a dungeon. The story of Joseph in the book of Genesis teaches us that learning to love and serve others faithfully while we're enduring hardship is a necessary lesson for every follower of Christ. We should not expect promotion from God if we cannot continue to love when we're demoted by man. Part of being sent by God is being able to embrace mistreatment from the world. How you choose to treat people when you're at your lowest determines whether or not you're ready for promotion.

View Details

The call of God on your life can become detrimental if that calling becomes more important to you than your personal intimacy with Christ. The promise of God should never become god to you. Many Christians are snared by idolatry without even realizing it, when something that God has promised or offered becomes more important to them than their intimacy with Him. The enemy will swiftly attack whatever you idolize, or whatever you fear losing. In fact, fear of loss is one of the key indicators of idolatry. One of the best things that you can do to protect those you love is be willing to lose them. Because as soon as you idolize a loved one, you are vulnerable to an attack from the enemy, in which case a loss will destroy your wellness and sabotage your peace. In order to protect yourself and others, you need to be free from others -- free from the need to depend on them for your happiness and security.

Everyone has a calling from God on their lives. However, if we're not internally, emotionally and spiritually prepared/equipped to bear the weight of that calling, we'll quickly burn out. Unerring love for people, devotion to intimacy with God, and immunity to rejection and mistreatment must be the foundation of our every pursuit. Jesus sent us into this world to love as He loves, not to get love from people around us. Destiny is not about promotion or vocational fulfillment. It's about demonstrating the grace and love of God, knowing that our reward is not in this life, but ultimately, in the life to come -- an eternity in the presence and family of God.

Christ is coming again to judge the world in righteousness, which means we have lost the right to be judges of mankind. It's God's job to judge and our job to love. Christ has called us to be instruments of His grace and mercy, leaving the judgment, reward, and vengeance to Him, for He alone can judge with true fairness and perfect wisdom. To live with the anticipation of the second coming means that we live solely for kindness and gentleness, and trust that Christ will one day return to avenge His church of all mistreatment against her. Of all people, Christians should be known as the one's who never kept a record of wrongs, never antagonized, never retaliated, always showed mercy, and always forgave.

Our eternal reward is the joy of bringing people with us into heaven. People are the prize of the Father's redemptive plan, and they are to be the prize of our work on this earth. People must be cherished and valued -- never neglected or disregarded. We need to be living with purpose and heaven-centered focus. Anything that distracts us from the purpose for which we've been called is equivalent to drunkenness and dissipation, according to the Bible.

Holiness is the security of intimacy with God, the immunity to the attacks of the devil, and the defender of the reputation of Christianity. The church at large needs to recover her value for holiness. Holiness is expected of us, because we have already been made holy in Christ. Holiness is about being tender-hearted and teachable before God; it's about cultivating a habit of self-examination that keeps one's heart clean and sincere before God and man. The softer you are to God, the harder you are to the devil. Tenderness towards God is the strongest armor against the enemy.

Worship is about offering to Jesus the praise that He is due; it's not about coming to Him to get our needs met. It is in ministering to Him that we receive what we need. It's wrong for us to rely upon an atmosphere that churches create in order to experience the presence of God. The ministry of the Holy Spirit in our lives is not confined to human efforts and disciplines. We need to learn to worship no matter the circumstances or surroundings. Because no matter what, He's good and He's worthy of our praise.

Have we Christians in America truly valued our religious freedom? Have we taken full advantage of the opportunity that we have to share Jesus without fear of any real ramifications? Most Americans have become so side-tracked by needless busyness and occupied by selfish ambition, that the gospel has been neglected. It's time that we stopped bowing to the pressure of culture and yielding to the sway of the world. Intense persecution is coming to America, and if we aren't ready for it, it will wreak havoc on the faith of multitudes of professing Christians. We need to wake up and confront the weaknesses of American Christianity that have been tolerated for far too long.

We must be careful that we do not give our time and resources to build a church that isn't biblical. We cannot afford to cast aside Scripture to build a Christianity that idolizes the traditions of man. The Word of God must become our utmost treasure and it's knowledge our chiefest pursuit. As Christians and the modern-day priests of God, we are the guardians of truth in this earth. It's our calling to embody the Word of God, so that truth is preserved in the lives of Christians, rather than merely in the printing of books. Many heroes and saints of old gave their bodies to be burned so that we could have the Bible that we have today. Let's not dismiss their sacrifice by neglecting the precious message of the gospel that's been delivered to us.

The church's reliance upon entertainment value to attract the unbelieving world must die. Our churches will be filled when we start BEING the church, not when we construct attractive buildings and arrange entertaining services. The beauty and power of the church lies in her purity and holiness of character. Our buildings, property, our worship music with our lights and fog machines...all of that is like make-up on a woman that doesn't need to wear it. The world should be attracted to the beauty of our Christ-likeness, not to the relevance and emotional stimuli of our church services.

To be saved is to become God's means of salvation in this world. Jesus has called us to do what He did -- to bring restoration to everything that sin and evil has destroyed in people's lives. Jesus didn't die to get us into heaven...He died to make us into people who are OF heaven. God has created us to BE His heaven in a fallen world -- to be His instrument for redemption in this world. The gospel is not about praying to accept Jesus in your heart in hopes that one day you'll go to heaven. The gospel is about baptizing people in the Holy Spirit, so that their lives become the life of Christ. The apostles never preached heaven as the objective of salvation in their ministry to the lost.

God cannot merely be a "part" of our lives, because our lives are no longer our own. Jesus died to replace us, to fill us, to overtake our independence so that He could live in and through us. Jesus wants to become your life; He doesn't want to be a part of your life. Sanctify the Lord in your heart. Set Him apart as something special, highest priority, the One your life and character is built upon. We are should live with Christ as our King, and not just another religious advisor. We are called to live clean, pure and ingenuous lives that put the love and sincerity of God on display. Power must be underpinned by purity. Sincere love but be our motive in everything, with no hidden agenda or ulterior motive.

When revival comes, what must be done to maintain and steward that revival? When revival comes, there must also be full acceptance of the refinement of the church that will take place and the weightiness of responsibility that will come upon the church. The greater the glory, the greater the consequences if that glory is abused. Revival cannot be maintained without an accompanying fear of the Lord that will keep our hearts and motives pure. Without a strong foundation in uncompromising integrity, the weight of glory will cause us to collapse. Revival is not only about empowering us, but also purifying us. Sanctification is the security of revival. Staying in love with Jesus and staying full of God is what will keep sin away from the church. Sin has no room in a heart and mind that's too full of the Holy Spirit.

David was chosen by God to replace King Saul, in large, because he was the leader who would finally put his foot down and purge the land of Israel from all evil influence. The kingdom of Israel was prepared to manage the weight of glory and prosperity during Solomon's reign, because David had built for it the structural integrity of holiness that Solomon needed. David was accused of being bloodthirsty, but he was only zealous for the purpose of God to cleanse Israel of wickedness. In that way, he was bloodthirsty. In the same manner, God desires that His church be bloodthirsty in a godly way -- that we would stand for the truth and vehemently desire to see sin purged from within the church...that we would never condone or tolerate sin, but utilize the power we have in the grace of God to see His Bride become a pure and ingenuous people. Wickedness must be removed before the Kingdom will be established in righteousness.

Just as David replaced Saul and prepared Israel, through conquest, for the reign of Solomon, so the church will stand against apathy and prepare the Body of Christ for the Second Coming of Christ as King. In this sermon, Pastor David Grams uses the story of David and Saul in the book of 1 Samuel to prophetically illustrate God's plan for His church in the last days. In short, a reformation is required. We must embrace persecution and sanctification as necessary components of the Church's identity. We must abandon the fear of man, lay aside criticism, and drive out worldly philosophy.

The sign and mark of glory and increase in the life of a Christian is persecution. The more glory there is in our lives, the more persecution there will be. Persecution will strengthen us if we view it as an indicator of growth. If we view it as a sign of God's unfaithfulness, it will weaken our faith. We need to embrace persecution and endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. The apostles taught that persecution was a gift, a blessing, and a reason to rejoice. Only those who are worthy will suffer persecution for His name's sake.

God wants to honor and exalt the church just as He did Christ, so that the culture of His kingdom will be magnified in the sight of the world. When we are a ready Bride, we will be exalted by the Father, and our beauty will be a trophy of God's grace and redemptive power. Before the final harvest, when Jesus returns to gather His church at the rapture, the true Bride of Christ will have already been a distinguished and exalted people, clearly separate from the sway of the false Christianity. Before the harvest is gathered, the wheat and tares will be separate. The true church must be sanctified before the harvest is ready to be gathered.

A ready Bride is naturally a powerful witness. In this sermon, David Grams describes God's plan for His church in these last days. The end-times are upon us. His plan for us is not to send out as many missionaries and evangelists as possible...His plan is to beautify His church and make His Bride ready -- prepared -- for the second coming of Christ. Persecution will increase and hypocrisy in counterfeit Christianity will increase, but the true Bride of Christ will be exalted alongside Christ as pure, blameless and beautiful. When the Bride is dressed, Christ will come. We're not waiting on Him; He's waiting on us. The nations are being reached, and the gospel is spreading. The existing church, however, needs to be dressed for an fast-approaching wedding. Abide in Christ, so that you will be unashamed before Him at His coming.

I should never again depend on my own religious offerings to feel right with God. Righteousness was a one-time gift that's all-sufficient to grant me full access to the Presence of God. Righteousness gives me boldness and confidence with God, and boldness in my approach to Him is the basis of my intimacy with Him.

The price that was paid to redeem us is what defines our value. We are not to be slaves to anything in this world, as that would mean perishable things rule us. And if any material thing controls me, that would mean I see myself as lesser in power than that thing. We are royalty. We are worth so much more than we realize. Why would we allow ourselves to become bound to worldly substances, giving ourselves to be exploited by the enemy, as though we are worthless things to be tossed around by life? Understanding identity in Christ empowers us to resist temptation and remain free from all the things that control people in the world. Why? Because once we know our created value and purpose, we will not allow ourselves to be enslaved by the powerless and worthless substances of this material world.

Until we see and hear Him for ourselves, our testimony to the world will be as a second-hand witness, and not as a direct representative. Intimacy must be our priority.

If you don't love the Bible, you cannot say that you love God. When God wants to reveal Himself, He does so primarily through His written and spoken Word. To know the Bible is to know God. To be ignorant of what the Bible says, and still call oneself a "Christian", is to follow a god of one's imagination and not the God of truth. Jesus Himself is called the "Word made flesh". To abide in His Word is to be a true disciple. God has exalted His Word above all His name (Psalm 138:2). Therefore, the highest calling of a Christian is to shut up and listen!

The only thing that stops Christians from walking like Jesus is the willful belief that that kind of life is impossible.

God calls us to be people who are after His own heart. If we don't treasure intimacy with God, we'll make favor from people our source and compromise God's will for the sake of relevance or tolerance. The only way we will experience all that God has promised for our lives is if we make it the sole purpose of our existence to chase after His heart and know Him intimately.

Moses was a man who knew God face to face. He had an intimacy with God that's more characteristic of a New Covenant believer, not an Old Covenant saint. What was it about Moses that granted him that kind of relationship with God? What is the belief system and outlook of a person who walks with God? We can learn from Moses' life that there are character qualities that attract intimacy. God is looking for people who are after His heart and not just His benefits.

Aside from Christ's death, hundreds of other men and women died excruciatingly painful deaths in total self-sacrifice, to give us the Bible that we have today. We now possess the most powerful truths in the universe, containing the potential to transform us into living and breathing reflections of the Father on earth. But...we choose whether or not we will use God's Word for the intention for which it was delivered to us. We will be held accountable for how we used the Bible -- whether we rightly used it to equip ourselves for our God-given purpose, or if we used it merely to elevate our emotions with our morning verse-of-the-day. We were redeemed for a purpose! Let us not dishonor the sacrifice of Christ by living a complacent life. This was recorded on Sunday morning, Feb. 10th, at Valiant Church in New Hope, MN.

This is the audio recording of David's sermon, given at the launch service of Valiant Church, the first church-plant out of VMI. It's a simple and foundational, yet extremely powerful message. Jesus died so that we could know God and become like Him...that's the gospel 101. Salvation is restoring a relationship, not changing locations or circumstances. Heaven can be experienced right now because our intimacy with the Father has been restored; such intimacy is exactly what makes heaven what it is...it's why we can have heaven on earth.

The purpose of Jesus' death and resurrection was hidden for thousands of years, but it has now been revealed. Jesus died so that God could inhabit His people. Jesus died so that we could become something new, not so that we could merely hope that we will go to heaven when we die. The apostles and prophets bled and died so that we could have what is now available to us in Christ. Let us not get complacent and come short of the potential we now possess.

Have you believed that only God decides when healing will happen? That miracles only happen if it's His sovereign will? Whether you like it or not, this philosophy is not scripturally sound. Jesus already bore our pain and sickness. Healing has already been provided. It's up to us to believe that. It will be unto us according to OUR faith! Don't limit God by getting into unbelief.

Every lie of the world that Christians choose to believe stems from one root problem: giving more authority to the word of man than you do to the Word of God. Sometimes, due to the pressure of modern culture, we think that we need to add the counsel of the world to the teachings of the Bible. It's a big mistake to compromise the Word of God for something as trivial as cultural relevance. Don't allow the enemy to rob you of God's promises by submitting to the subtle intrusions of human philosophy.

You may believe something about yourself or God that isn't true. In this episode, learn about a number of so called "Christian" doctrines that have no basis in scripture, and are really philosophies of the world. Are we really free from sin? Are we really the righteousness of God? Or does God only see us as righteous? Don't be cheated out of the reward of a relationship with God, by submitting yourself to principles of the world.

According to Ephesians 5:14-18, we are all held responsible to wake up and "understand what God's will is" for our lives. It's not an option...it's an expectation. We are here on purpose for a purpose. Therefore, we cannot allow the cares of this life to distract us from what really matters -- why we were created. We have a short time on this planet; we need to use that time well. God can rescue any wasted time from loss, if we choose to move forward with hopeful purpose.

As a continuation of the previous episode, David continues his teaching on Christ's mandate to the Christian community to function as an embassy of heaven and propagate heaven's culture in the world around us. But if we're to be an effective embassy, we must be unified -- in one mind, striving together for the faith of the gospel. Love is the bond -- the glue -- that creates such unity. If we can't learn to love our fellow man we cannot say we love God, and unity will be impossible. Loving people unconditionally is the way we bring heaven's culture into this fallen world.

If we yield to God's will for our lives and allow Him to shape us into the people He has created us to be, we will see ourselves become images of Christ in the earth. We are called to be clay in His hands...if we let Him mold us, we will become like Him. He will prepare us for our created purpose.

If you're always aware of how your choices will affect others, and desire to do all for the well-being of others, then there will be no foothold for temptation in your heart. For all sin stems from a root of self-centeredness. To love is to be selfless. If you learn to love, you will be established in holiness. Selflessness is the foundation of a pure and blameless life.

Are you going to be a disciple of Jesus? Or just a convert? Christianity was never meant to identify someone who merely "believes" in Jesus. Christianity was meant to identify a person who has surrendered everything they are for the sake of Christ. When the term "Christian" (Christianos, in the Greek)was coined, it was intended to categorize the people who were sold-out, fully-surrendered, bold and tenacious followers of Jesus. In reality, "Christian" means something totally different from what it means to most people in America today. What did Jesus teach about being a Christian? What did He expect from those who called themselves His followers? What we do know is that Jesus told those of us who have accepted the call to be His disciples, that our lives should be defined by these three things: Daily Self-denial, Embrace of Persecution, and the reward of A New Life in Christ.

God did not give us His Word so that we could have another religious text to observe. He gave us His Word so that we could become what it says. The Word is a Person...Jesus Christ. When we abide in His Word, we take on His nature, and begin to reflect His character to the world around us. And this is the purpose of scripture -- to conform us to His image. We can't afford to manipulate the purpose of the Bible, by reducing it to a means to get something out of God, while never truly desiring to become what it says.

There is one thing that neutralizes Christians; it's the kryptonite to all courage. This kryptonite is condemnation. A guilty and shameful self-image in one's relationship to God is what destroys our effectiveness as believers. If our upward relationship with God is not established in grace, then an outward lifestyle of courage will be impossible. If we will ever be used by God to do signs and wonders in this world, we must be fully persuaded that we are fully forgiven, fully cleansed of all guilt, and fully loved. It is when we know that God is fully FOR US, that we will be positioned in confidence for a bold and shameless lifestyle. Courage comes from confidence in one's right standing before God. Condemnation undermines that foundation of confidence.

We can't afford to be complacent in our relationship with God, by living with a "let the pastor do it" mentality.

This message will teach you about what God really intended to do when He gave His only Son to die for us. It wasn't just about forgiveness, but transformation. Jesus died and rose again to make us new in every part of our being--spirit, soul, and body. He became the new genetic source of everything we are as believers. The fallen nature of Adam is no longer what we inherit; but the nature of Christ Himself.

The kingdom is a way of life -- a transformed philosophy -- that enables us to experience heaven on earth, and actually usher that reality into the lives of others. More so than a world to come, the kingdom of God is a reality that exists within the hearts of believers, which empowers us to make this world a host for heaven's glory. "The kingdom of God must be within you before it will ever be around you."

These are all questions that are answered in this episode. In short, the episode teaches that the solution is to restore manhood...not suppress it. Masculinity is not the problem; it's a perversion of it that's the issue. Only a restored manhood can heal the wounds inflicted by a perverted masculinity.

Jesus took our torn robes of sin and weakness, put them on Himself in His suffering, and in exchange, gave us His own strength and righteousness. As Jesus taught, "To whom much is given, much is required" (Luke 12:48). For every high calling there's a cost, and that cost is self-denial. The price you're willing to pay to serve the Lord shows the value that you hold Him in. The Blood Covenant was to Abraham the root and confirmation of everything he believed. It should be the same for us. When Jesus died on the cross, He took the punishment for our transgression of the covenant terms. Even now, God does not punish anyone for their sins in this world, otherwise He would be breaking His promise. In this present time, through our faith in Jesus' work, we can receive every blessing promised to us in God's Word. This accountability of purpose should also be what motivates us to wake up every morning with a living passion. There will be great rewards in heaven for our faithfulness on earth. In this episode, David directly confronts the sensitive issue of LGBTQ. Most Christians have no idea how to communicate the message of the gospel to people in the LGBTQ community with a balance of both grace AND truth. The fallacy of cultural relevance has caused the modern church to strip the gospel of its transformational power in order to avoid offense. Although the gospel will offend people at times, we need to be bold to preach the whole counsel of God regardless. We must understand that God loves and accepts everyone, no matter what sins they're struggling with, but His grace does NOT condone sin...it provides the power to overcome it and wash it away. LGBTQ is an effort of the enemy to undermine the created purpose and value of human beings. For this reason, we must also understand that identity crisis is the root issue behind the increase of the LGBTQ lifestyle. When we understand the pain and abuse that has caused people to take refuge in the LGBTQ community, it should evoke compassion...not rage. Jesus calls us to be beacons of hope in this world. We're here to show people who they really are, who they were created to be, who their Father is, and that the blood of Jesus is more than enough to redeem us from every sin and every pain.

In this episode, intended to be a continuation of last week's episode, David talks about the various situations in which the doctrine of "turn the other cheek" does not apply. Biblically, there are a few situations in which physical force is expected, in order to rightfully protect one's nation, and one's family. There are those who have a divine authority to execute vengeance on evil doers, as to preserve moral integrity, and there are those who do not. As Christians, we function not as enforcers of judicial law, but as ambassadors of a heavenly kingdom. Who we represent determines how we are to respond to certain attacks. As followers of Jesus, we overcome aggression with love. As husbands and fathers, we protect our families. And as a people, we defend our nation.

Masculinity is traditionally associated with toughness, physical strength, aggression, and virility. However, from a biblical standpoint, the typical concept of aggression and manly strength, in reality, is actually weakness. Physical strength does not make you a man. In this episode, David explains that true, manly strength is not uncontrolled aggression, but a fierce love. The strongest man is the one who rules over his emotions and carries himself with an unerring self-control, in spite of mistreatment and provocation. The strongest man is the one who is gentlest under provocation. But what then is godly aggression? When is it right and noble for a man to use a form of aggression? And how does that play out? That is also answered in this episode, by use of an example in the life of the Lord Jesus -- the epitome of manhood -- who demonstrated aggression in a way that was noble, godly, and admirable. A certain form of aggression is sometimes necessary, but it is only to be motivated by love, not by emotional impulse or a desire for revenge. "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good" (Romans 12:21).
