Jay Mack Pyle went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, in Kingsport, TN. Mack was born in Kingsport on February 23, 1951, to the late JC and Hazel Pyle. He was a 1969 graduate of Ketron High School, where he enjoyed playing football and running track. This was also where his lifelong love of sports began. Mack always had a love for the Lord and going to church. He had been a member of Vermont United Methodist Church for many years and was currently a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church, performing many duties, most recently as Sunday School Education Director. He also faithfully served grieving families the last several years at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Julie Morrison Pyle of Kingsport; children, son, Jason Pyle and wife Krystyna and their children, Kate, Harper, and Lane of Nashville, daughter, Jenni Broyles and husband Joey and their children, Leah and Alex of Greensboro, NC, son, Cody Pyle of Texas, son, Chris Gibbs and wife Daniella and their children, Dominic and Dillon of League City, TX, son, Steven Hayes and wife Tammy and their children, Madelyn and Ryan, and daughter Stephanie Reed and husband Jerry with their daughter Emma of Kingsport; brother, Dickie and wife Wilma of Church Hill; and his faithful companion, Bella.
A Celebration of Life will be at 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Higher Ground Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Goodman and Pastor Ronnie Owens officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. The service will be live streamed on the church’s website and on Facebook.

Obituary for Roger A. Mitchell Roger A. Mitchell, 67, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Holston Valley Medical Center following a courageous battle with Covid-19.
He was born December 1, 1953, in Kingsport, to the late William and Lula Taylor Mitchell.
Roger was a loving, selfless, and supportive son, husband, father, grandfather and brother who always put others first. He was a committed Christian and attended Harmony Baptist Church.
Roger enjoyed playing golf, traveling, shopping for antiques, and spending quality time with his grandson, Ethan.
Roger was employed with the Kingsport Press for thirty-three years, R&R Donnelley for six years, and was presently serving his community as a Deputy with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his step-brother, Wayne Taylor; half-brothers, Stanford Mitchell and Stanley Mitchell.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of forty-two years, Lisa Mitchell; son, Austin Mitchell and wife, Stephanie; grandson, Ethan Mitchell; sister, Sue Moore; his brothers and sisters in Blue at the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, especially those in the Transportation Division.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 4, 2021, from 12:00-1:45 pm at Higher Ground Baptist Church, 1625 Lynn Garden Drive, Kingsport, TN 37665.
A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Steve Pate officiating. Music will be under the direction of Phillips & Banks.
The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard will perform a 21 gun salute and presentation of the U.S. flag at the conclusion of the service..
Due to Covid-19, the family respectfully requests those attending the visitation and service to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Obituary for E. Duane Rhoton Hood E. Duane Rhoton Hood, 84, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord (her happy place) Monday, August 9, 2021, at Holston Valley Medical Center following a short illness.
She was born January 12, 1937, in Kingsport, to the late Arthur and Mabel Claman Rhoton.
Duane was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, going to the beach and was an avid animal lover. Duane especially loved her grandchildren and enjoyed attending their sporting events.
She was the retired owner of Hood’s Treasure Basket and a member of Harmony Presbyterian Church but was presently attending Higher Ground Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Duane was preceded in death by her husband, R.C. Hood; maternal and paternal grandparents; special friend, Lois Anderson.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Anita Hood; son, Robbie Hood; grandchildren, Florica and Jackson Hood, Lauren McNew and husband, Trevor and Holly Hood; great-grandchildren, Oakley, Hudson and Lynley McNew; special friend, Julie Rader.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 12, 2021, from 5:00-6:45 pm at Higher Ground Baptist Church.
A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 pm with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating. Music will be provided by the H.G.B.C. choir.
A Graveside Service will be conducted Friday, August 13, 2021, at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Masonic Garden. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those attending the service should meet at the cemetery by 10:45 am.

Peggy Ann Osborne McGlothlin, 83, of Kingsport, wife to Bob McGlothlin, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister took her heavenly flight to be with Jesus on Friday, July 23, 2021, at Bristol Regional Medical Center/Select Specialty Hospital.
Peggy was born December 22, 1937, in Slant, VA. She graduated from DBHS and retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 1999, from the Logistics Department. Peggy was a charter member of Higher Ground Baptist Church and was presently attending the Remnant Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Osborne; brother, Jack Osborne; sisters, Beth Osborne Goff and Mary Edith Osborne Dillard.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband, Bob McGlothlin; daughter, Robin McGlothlin; son, Mark McGlothlin; grandchildren, Raegan McGlothlin Vaughn and husband, Brian; Payton McGlothlin and fiance’, Tim Bell and Landrey McGlothlin; great-grandchildren, Ansley Vaughn and Alli McGlothlin; brother, Kent Osborne and wife, Jean; a host of special nieces, nephews and family; special caregivers, Rosemary McKinney and Mary Ellen McGlothlin.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 27, 2021, from 5:00-6:45 pm at Higher Ground Baptist Church, 1625 Lynn Garden Drive, Kingsport, TN 37660.
The Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 pm with Dr. Tony Crisp, Dr. Phil Hoskins and Pastor David Salley officiating.
The Graveside Service will be conducted at 10:00 am Wednesday, July, 28, 2021, at Walnut Chapel Church Cemetery. Those attending the service should meet at Oak Hill Funeral Home by 9:00 am to go in procession to the cemetery.

Roberta M. Tabor, 76, of Church Hill, TN went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at her residence. She was born May 25, 1944, in Bristol, TN.
Roberta was a loving and caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family with all her heart. She enjoyed writing and singing Gospel music and sang for several years with the Silver Light Trio.
Roberta was a committed Christian and member of Higher Ground Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and enjoyed working in the Puppet Ministry.
She retired from BAE Systems following twenty-nine years of service.
Roberta was preceded in death by her father, E.G. Hobbs; husband, Calvin Tabor.
Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Madge Ketron Hall; son, Eric Long and wife, Deanna; daughter, Tanya Long; grandchildren, Nick Long, Ben Long and wife, Kathryn, Gabriel Long, Marin Garro and Cella Garro; great-grandchildren, Jacob Pierce, Avril Long, Constance, Claire and Caraline; sister, Anita Moneyhun and husband, Sam Brackins; brother, Bill Wampler and wife, Sally; several nieces and nephews; numerous special friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 6:00 pm with Dr. Ronnie Owens, Dr. Phil Hoskins and Brother Wayne Bledsoe officiating. Music will be under the direction of the H.G.B.C. choir and Sarah Beth Lovell.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday, March 21, 2021, at Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery, Gate City, VA. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
