Zen Jazz is the best way to describe Alex Belden’s Solo Piano genre. He looks to the vast infinite universe, listens, then performs an aural translation of all the harmonic and melodic ideas that flow through the universal consciousness. He sees newness and freshness in everything and everybody. This healing perspective allows the listener to take their own imaginative journey through space and time. He contributes the development of this style through his early study of Japanese meditation and arts that focus on awareness of one’s self in relation to all that is around them. Alex looks forward to his visits close to the Pacific Ocean where he finds much inspiration, relaxation and spiritual connection. In his words, “The one Principle is that Mind and Soul are Spirit and the Truth about the reality of Life is its complete envelopment by Love.” Alex Belden was born in Northern California and has resided in the Pacific Northwest for 50 years. Currently he is living and composing music next to the Mississippi river in Southern Illinois. He hopes to return and retire near the Pacific Ocean in the coming years.

This is my blues song. I love it. I've lived it. This is the shortest take I've ever recorded of it, but it states its message very clearly. I can usually play it for an hour and not get bored of the cord progression. But I'm sure listeners would get bored if I played if for too long. But with more musicians it will be much more fun to rotate solos and play for a long time. I'll leave this and Glacial Impressions on this site as free downloads after I've deleted all the rest. I hope you enjoy this, my shortest recording ever.
Track #3 from Disc #2 of my double album is dedicated to mother nature and the beautiful sculpting she did when her glaciers formed the Puget Sound. One of the most beautiful sights of Seattle is standing up on a high hillside and viewing the sculpted valleys and hills that were formed by the glaciers that then became the Puget Sound and the hills of Seattle. The album cover is the view from Queen Anne, a neighborhood on a hill looking over Magnolia onto the Olympic Mountains. Quite lovely.
