Join us in our second podcast with Vandana Khemani, on 'How to Find a Coping Mechanism that Suits You.'
Vandana Khemani works as a school counsellor in a renowned school in Pune, The Orchid School, mainly with 10-14 year-olds. She has studied psychology from SPPU and has a Post Graduate Diploma in School Psychology from Jnana Prabodhini Institute of Psychology.
She has also learnt Paediatric psychology, NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming), JPMR (Jacobson’s progressive muscle relaxation) and Behaviour Modification from well-known organisations. As a hobby, she also teaches French to students.
Having studied in the discipline of psychology for so many years, she works towards raising mental health awareness, especially among the student population.
Though quite new to this field, the study of psychology has helped her on many fronts personally and professionally. She strongly believes that speaking about positive mental health right from childhood is the way to move forward to raising a fulfilled adult.
Her motto is ‘Have your personal space and let others have theirs’.
In this episode we will be talking about the effects of lockdown on mental health. We will be speaking to Anusree Menon.
Anusree Menon has been working with adolescents and young adults as a counsellor for the past 11+ years. Her training has been in Clinical Psychology and her work is strongly influenced by the idea of Mental Health being as rooted in the understanding of "health" as any other component; therefore as being crucial towards each individual trying to maintain their coping-functioning self to the best of their ability and reach their potential. She strongly believes in personal agency of every person, age not being a criteria, towards holding on to what is important to them. Apart from working in therapy with individuals, she's a content creator for issues on mental health and works with educational institutions to support them in addressing student mental health.
She feels that young people play an active role in enabling each other towards positive Mental Health. And when a community approaches positive mental health as a common goal, it benefits not just each individual, but also informs systems and functions and thereby makes a more balanced, empathetic and productive ecosystem.
When she is not passionately working, she's in some nook reading a book, on a nice long road-trip (until COVID came along), watching a drama-based series, catching up with loved ones or blaring some music while singing along.
