Richmont is a Netband showcasing bright, thoughtful music ranging from acoustic bluesy sounds to folktronica!
Always heard this track as Bluebells, even though its "Bluegirls". Recorded it the way I hear it without the somewhat silly seeming and relatively meaningless poetic conceit. I hope that doesn't detract from the experience. Enjoy!
I always loved this song and was always very aware of how in the song Peter Gabriel used cultural appropriation to deride and decry and at the same time celebrate cultural appropriation (which is in my opinion what music is all about- an omni-culture if you will!) I had great fun making this and thought I'd share it for today's celebration of "San Jacinto Day!" ("Remember the Alamo!"). Interestingly it is my understanding that drummer and sometime bandmate Phil Collins was a longtime collector of Davy Crockett and Alamo memorabilia! Phil did not play on this original track though.
