Have you ever experienced having your faith shaken by your fears? Join Jodi as she shares a message from the heart of a missionary friend. Many of us struggle with choosing to trust God with the scary things in life. If we work hard to overcome our doubts and let God take control, we will realize He is worth it all.

*Sometimes, “pennies in your path” show up in the trials.

Question: Are you struggling with placing your faith over your fears? If so, in what way?

Growing Deeper-

One Action Step Recognize that God keeps His promise, “And I will be with you” (Genesis 31:3). That promise is not an old promise but a current promise. God has not changed. He is the same God today that He was for Jacob. If you do not believe that, then wrestle down your unbelief with God.

Scripture Plunge: Matthew 19:29, 28:19-20, Genesis 27:41, Genesis 31:3, Genesis 32, Genesis 33:4,

Growing Deeper-

One Action Step: Acknowledge if you are in the wilderness. It’s okay not to be okay, but it is not okay to stay there. Be willing to do what it takes to arise out of your wilderness. Do you long for a life filled with passion and purpose? A life where you can experience joy and determination while having a clear direction. Join Jodi as she interviews well-known author of the book, “Pray with Purpose and Live with Passion,” Debbie Taylor Williams. Her enthusiasm for the Lord is infectious and will motivate you to live a life filled with passion for Him.

Question: How does praying to Righteous God encourage you?

*Sometimes, “pennies in your path” show up when you refocus on God’s righteousness.

Growing Deeper-

One Action Step: In Debbie’s book, she writes about being transformed and living with passion through prayer. She walks you through what she calls, “Stop, Drop, and PRAY.”

“The moment we smell a defeated attitude or sin overtaking us, we can stop and turn to God’s Word or stop and pray. Rather than walk in mediocrity or sin, we can drop to our knees in prayer. When, like Jesus, we stop, drop to our knees, and PRAY-Praise, Repent, Ask, and Yield-we’ll break free of the wilderness loop that keeps us tethered in sin and spiritual apathy. We’ll discover the joy of a transformed life!”

Scripture Plunge: John &:38-39, Jeremiah 20:12, Psalm 119:40

About the Author:

Debbie’s desire to help others know God’s life-changing power led her to author 7 books, numerous Bible studies, including her latest online study, “End Times,” and keynote at conferences throughout the United States. Her P.R.A.Y. with Passion Across the Nation Conference, held in 47 states, is equipping Christians to pray more purposefully and live more passionately for Christ. The Hill Country Ministries website reaches thousands of people including 50 countries. Have you ever wondered what God’s Plan is for your life? It seems that every Christ-follower wants to know the answer to this question. How do we discern what path He desires us to take? Join Jodi and Jen Hubbell as they discuss how we can better know God and the plans He has prepared for us. You will not want to miss hearing about one of Jen’s experiences with God as He answered a prayer in an unexpected way. To learn more about Jen Hubbell, visit her website at YourFavoriteRealtorJen.kw.com.

*Sometimes, “pennies in your path” show up when you need to trust God with your plans.

P.S.

Question: What is an area in your life that you have planned for and haven’t asked God his opinion on? What would it look like if you did? Perhaps the path looks a little different than you thought.

Growing Deeper-

One Action Step: Write three goals for the year. Ask God if they are your goals or His. When your heart aligns with God’s, your goals are likely both yours and God's because the Lord often “gives us the desires of our heart” (meaning births them in us) for His purposes and His glory. If you don’t know, then ask.

Jeremiah 33 says, “Ask of me, and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things you do not know.” It doesn’t say, “Ask of me, and I won’t answer.”

Scripture Plunge: Psalm 37:23, Proverbs 16:9, Jeremiah 33:3, John 10:27, 1 Corinthians 13:12

Join Jodi and her husband, Chris, as they share the four distinct stages of marriage they have discovered over time. Become aware of the stage you may be in and be encouraged to work toward the one that brings joy and fulfillment.

*Sometimes “pennies in your path” show up in your marriage.

P.S.

Question: What stage of marriage are you in?

Growing Deeper-

One Action Step: Choose to be intentional this week by making time for one another or extend grace by assuming the best rather than the worst of your spouse, or flirt like you did when you dated, or meet your spouse's need that speaks love to them. Whatever you do, be sure to do something life-giving to your spouse.

Have you ever felt the need to be in control? Releasing that control to the Lord can be challenging for most people. It can make us feel weak but, as Michelle Mackall shares in today’s episode, God does not see you as weak but as His beloved child that He is making strong enough to stand in the storm. Listen in today to get a glimpse of how God can take ashes and turn them into a beautiful headdress for your good and His glory.

*Sometimes “pennies in your path” show up in a “aha” moment.

P.S.

Question: Are you ready to release control so God can be in control?

Growing Deeper-

One Action Step: Allow God to have access to your heart. Confess to the Lord your struggle about allowing Him to be in control. Ask Him to help you release (you fill in the blank). Be still before Him as you receive His grace and comfort.

Scripture Plunge: Psalm 46:1, Jeremiah 29:11-13, 2 Corinthians 12:9, Isaiah 61:3,

We need each other and this is called community.” I invite you to join me and my friend, Terrie Cash, as we discuss the importance of reaching out and honoring those God places in our lives.

*Sometimes “pennies in your path” show up in community.

P.S.

Question: What is one step you can take this week to cultivate community?

Growing Deeper-

One Simple Action Step: Invite someone to join you for coffee or tea with the intention of just getting to know one another better.

Scripture Plunge: Romans 12:10, Genesis 1:26-27, 2:18, Acts 17:28, John 1:1-4, Hebrews 10:24-25

There is a bonus In today’s episode! Jodi takes a challenge from a friend to add a video component to the podcast. If you love YouTube check this episode out by clicking the link below in the show notes. Join Jodi as she shares an update from the previous recording, a new penny story, and her experience with a rude woman on her plane ride. Is it possible that you have had moments when you didn't like the way you acted in a situation? The good news is there is grace for moments like that. You will be challenged to guard your heart, to stay on a safe path, and to look at your own faults before judging others.

Click Here for the YOUTUBE-Vlog for this episode.

Today’s message calls for instruction from proverbs and the beatitudes.

Proverbs 4:23-27, NLT

“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech. Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.”

Proverbs 4:23, NASB

“Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.”

Beatitudes: Luke 6:41-45 Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 42 How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye. 43 For there is no good tree that bears bad fruit, nor, [on the other hand, a bad tree that bears good fruit. 44 For each tree is known by its own fruit. For people do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a briar bush. 45 The good person out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil person out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.

Are you in need to change your focus today? Listen in as Jodi shares two penny stories and processes through what Ephesians 1:18-19a conveys. This passage is packed with hope that will empower you to live in the calling God has blessed you with.

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.” (Ephesians 1:18-19a, NASB)

As you ponder this verse further ask yourself some questions:

  • Who can I pray for today?
  • Is there anything in my heart preventing me from spiritual discernment? Is there a sin to confess or a person you need to seek forgiveness from?
  • Do I truly believe I am empowered through Christ to fight from victory rather than for victory? If not, why?

Scriptures referenced in this episode:

1 Corinthians 2:9-16, Philippians 3:14, 2 Timothy 1:9, Hebrews 3:1

Below are a few scriptures referenced in this episode:

She looks at the manor Jesus walked, his prayer life, and the need for the dependence of the Father. Listen in to hear how she answers her own question and invites us to join a private group she has on Facebook.

Below are a few scriptures Jodi references:

“You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.” (John 15:3)

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.” (John 15:4)

“… and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him.” (Colossians 3:10)

“By this, we know that we are in Him:the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.” (1 John 2:5b-6)

“So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” (Colossians 3:12)

The “R” in P.R.A.Y.E.R. represents Release. It’s about taking all of our anxiety, burdens, and concerns and releasing them into the hands of God. In today’s episode, Jodi shares some thoughts on releasing what holds us down to the One who cares most. She conveys how the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is causing some to react in fear rather than respond with a peace that surpasses our understanding.

Below are a few scriptures referenced in this episode:

“Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.” (Psalm 55:22)

“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act.” (Psalm 37:5)

“Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed, because the Lord holds his hand.” (Psalm 37:24)

“This is why I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing?” (Matthew 6:25)

“Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

The “P” in P.R.A.Y.E.R. represents Perspective. It’s about having the right focus and filter in which we pray. Whatever our perspective is it guides, drives, and changes us. It affects our attitudes and the way we pray. In this episode, Jodi shares a fresh prayer perspective. In addition, she shares how God brought her to a verse He used nearly 20 years ago to confirm a calling. Listen in as she shares from God’s word and her heart.

Below are a few scriptures referenced in this episode:

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV)

“The Lord upholds all who fall and raises up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look expectantly to You, and You give them their food in due season. You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. The Lord is righteous in all His ways, gracious in all His works. The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him He also will hear their cry and save them. The Lord preserves all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy. My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord, and all flesh shall bless His holy name, forever and ever.” (Psalm 145:14-21, NKJV)

Over the last several years the Lord has confirmed a word for me to cling to. The word encourages me to stay the course and keep me grounded. I have had words such as Forward, S.T.E.P., R.E.S.T., and Grow.

I admit I was a little surprised when the Lord gave me the word “Prayer” for this year. Why? Because I am one that fully believes in prayer and prays on a regular basis. Philippians 4:6 is my go-to verse: “Do not be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplications with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” I’m not sharing that in a boastful way but to explain why His direction surprised me. I soon realized it was for me to be more strategic in my prayers.

I love that the Lord confirmed my word for 2020 over and over. It was no coincidence that every other devotion, article, scripture, and conversation I had revolved around prayer.

For example, I had been reading in John and as I came across one of Jesus’ prayers in chapter 17 God stirred in my spirit. To be concise it was in verse 20 when I read He prayed for me all those years ago. And if you are a Christ-follower He prayed for you too!

For context take time to read John 17 and then linger a while on verse 20.

“I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word.”

WOW!

As I think about Jesus interceding for us it motivates me to not only be more intentional to pray this year but be more strategic in my prayers.

For instance, I took the word prayer and put meaning with each letter to help me focus and be purposeful as I go before the Lord. I hope this will encourage you as well.

Perspective

Release

Abide

Yield

Effective

Resist

Below is a more descriptive understanding of what each word means to me and how God’s word applies to it.

Perspective- See things through God’s eyes.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)

Release-Let go of my cares and concerns to God.

“Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

Abide-Cling to Him and His word because I can do nothing apart from Him.

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in Me.” (John 15:4)

Yield-Trust God’s wisdom versus men.

“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” (Ephesians 5:15-17)

Effective-Ensure my prayers are effective by staying close and clean with the Lord.

“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” (James 5:16b, NIV)

Resist- The temptations of the flesh and from turning to something or someone else before praying to God.

“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13)

I’m grateful each year for the word God has given me. It has proven to grow my trust in Him and strengthen my spiritual walk. Only He knows how my word P.R.A.Y.E.R. for 2020 will impact my life. But this I know, I can trust Him with all things!

What is your word for 2020?

If you have never used a word to help you grow in your walk test it out this year. I’d love to hear how God uses it in your life.

Be blessed, my friend!

December is here and it’s the time of year when we get caught up in traditions, shopping, making and checking off our list, and become focused on loved ones no longer here. While none of that is bad we need to also remember why December is significant and the WHY and WHO we celebrate. In today’s episode, Jodi challenges us to change the channel of our minds and tune into seven ways we can prepare our hearts for Christmas day.

Below is the list along with some scripture references:

1.) Sit at the feet of Jesus and listen to His word.

“She (Martha) had a sister called Mary, who was seated at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word.” (Luke 10:39, NASB)

2.) Praise God for His Son’s Birth!

Consider when the multitude of angels appeared before the shepherds praising God and proclaiming:

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.” (Luke 2:14, NASB)

This hymn of praise is also known as the “Gloria in Excelsis Deo”.

3.) Be open and honest with God allowing Him to search your heart so there are no hindrances of Him hearing your prayers.

“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24, NIV)

4.) Pray for those that do not know about God’s only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.

“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost.” (Luke 19:10, CSB)

“First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone. This is good, and it pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:1-4, CSB)

5.) Ask God to reveal to you how to be a blessing to others.

Speak a blessing over someone such as Numbers 6:24-25, NASB:

“The Lord bless you, and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance on you, and give you peace.”

6.) Read Luke Chapter 2 in its entirety to embrace the beautiful truths of why Christ Jesus was born.

7.) Read a chapter of Luke each day leading up to Christmas day.

A Pastor had posted this on Facebook and I thought it was a terrific way of wrapping up the 7 ways to prepare your heart for Christmas.

There are 24 chapters in Luke. I know this episode is published 5 days into December but it’s simple to catch up and oh so worth it!

Why? Because the book of Luke gives you an entire account of Jesus’ life and you’ll wake up on Christmas morning knowing WHO and WHY you celebrate Christmas!

I pray that your heart will be prepared for Christmas Day to celebrate the true reason for this season.

Be intentional!

Are you struggling with past mistakes, shame, or your identity? We often believe whatever has marked us or stained us, that it defines who we are. We begin listening to the enemy's lies that whisper "because of your stain of sin and shame, others will judge you and not love you. If they knew who you really were and what you have done or what's been done to you, then you will be rejected." In today's episode, Jodi shares the truth about what God does with our stains. Friend, you are not stained for life, and your past does not define you. "Therefore, if the Son sets you free, you really will be free!" (John 8:36)

In today’s episode, Jodi shares something out of obedience. It’s a word from God that continues to minister to her soul and she feels compelled to share it with you. Sometimes we can complicate the gospel, but it’s simple to share. Let today’s message fall fresh on your heart and share it with others that need to hear a word to meditate on today.

Here are the scriptures, along with the translations, Jodi mentions:

Romans 5:18-19 New Living Translation (NLT)

18Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. 19Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.

Genesis 2:16-17 Christian Standard Bible (CSB)

16And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree of the garden, 17but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for on the day you eat from it, you will certainly die.”

1 Peter 3:18 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

18For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit.

1 Peter 3:18 New Living Translation (NLT)

18Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit.

Romans 10:9 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

9 That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 8:1 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

8Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

In today's episode Jodi reflects on a devotion she wrote in 2016. Much life has happened since then. She shares how God has answered prayers. Be encouraged to lay your aspirations before God trusting Him to do a new thing. Allow God's word to speak into your heart's desire, dreams, and goals.

Go Forward!

Copied from a devotion written in 2016.

For years, I have had aspirations for a specific dream. I often pursued it but my insecurities, doubts, and fears would wrap around me, hindering any movement forward. I have asked myself many times: Is it just the glamorous idea of it that keeps me holding on to it? Or is it something that God wants me to move forward with? I did not know the answer.

Can you relate? Maybe you have aspirations to open your home for foster care, start your own business, become a stay- at- home mom, or start a new friendship… Are you uncertain if this is a leading from God or just a dreamy idea?

I find the uncertainty to be exhausting.

I was tired of holding onto a dream that goes nowhere.

I was ready for it to die or take on a new life.

I needed affirmation for my aspiration. So I began praying with a willingness to surrender my dream to God. A willingness to let it die. As I was praying, I heard the birds chirping outside. I opened the back door of the house and the outdoors beckoned me. The sky was painted baby blue. The breeze was gentle with a relaxing warmth. The empty chair on the back deck was inviting, so I gave in and took my journal and bible with me. Of course, I had a cup of coffee too. ;)

As I settled in my chair and soaked in the atmosphere, I opened my bible and asked God to use His word for clarity. I asked Him to speak and He did.

On this particular day, I picked up reading where I’d left off the previous day in Exodus 14.

Up to this point in the book of Exodus, the Israelites had lived in Egypt for 430 years and for many of those years they were slaves. They were now under the authority of the Egyptian Pharaoh, who had a hardened heart. God sent Moses to speak with Pharaoh to request that His people, the Israelites, be set free. It was not until the last plague God sent that Pharaoh let the Israelites free. You can read about the plagues here. As nearly a million of them fled, Pharaoh had a change of heart and pursued them with his army and hundreds of chariots. They came upon them near the Red Sea. “As Pharaoh drew near, the sons of Israel looked, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they became very frightened; so the sons of Israel cried out to the Lord.” Exodus 14:10

This is where it gets real. God’s about to do the inconceivable!

“But Moses said to the people, “Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the LORD which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever. The LORD will fight for you while you keep silent. Then the LORD said to Moses, why are you crying out to Me? Tell the sons of Israel to GO FORWARD**. As for you, lift up your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, and the sons of Israel shall go through the midst of the sea on dry land.” (Exodus 14:13-16 NASB)

God was speaking to me through this passage. He did not want me to stand by and keep silent.

He spoke as if a voice behind my ears (Isaiah30:21) GO FORWARD! Stop being lukewarm and pursue your dream with a hot passion! When you GO FORWARD, I will part the waters and make your path clear.

“Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth, will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:19)

I received my answer! My dream had new life breathed into it! (Now I need to Go FORWARD because God said, “GO FORWARD!”, and I can trust Him to equip me and make away.)

Do you find the uncertainty exhausting? Lay your aspirations before God and find peace as He reveals a confirmation either way. He may just be waiting for you to GO FORWARD so He can part the waters.

In today’s episode, Jodi shares how God used the purest experience to heighten her awareness of His presence. She was reminded of God's faithfulness in keeping His promises to be our shelter, rest, refuge, place of safety, and to be our rescuer. His promises are our armor and protection. Listen in and be encouraged today.

Psalm 91

1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him.

4 He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection.

9 If you make the Lord your refuge,
if you make the Most High your shelter,
10 no evil will conquer you...

14 The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me.
I will protect those who trust in my name.
15 When they call on me, I will answer;
I will be with them in trouble.
I will rescue and honor them.

In today’s episode, Jodi interviews her dear friend, Sharon. Sharon shares that she prayed for God to do whatever it takes to bring her boys back to Himself, never dreaming what God would use to answer her prayer. Her two children made a decision that would land them in prison with a sentence of 20 years without parole. However, God has brought good out of this tragedy, and Sharon clings to Jeremiah 29:11 for hope and strength. This real story of finding freedom in a life of imprisonment is one full of God’s trustworthiness, sovereignty, and redemptive power.

In today’s episode, Jodi discusses the cost of unforgiveness. When we allow the unforgiveness to take root, we are hindering our relationship with God. We allow other roots of bitterness, anger, and self-righteousness to dig deeper than we ever intended. Jodi also shares the question God tends to ask her when she is struggling through forgiving someone. It’s a question that instantly brings her to her knees.

Here are the three key scriptures shared:

1.) “If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.” (Psalm 66:18)

2.) “Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you so that he will not hear.” (Isaiah 59:1-2)

3.) “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness, no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.” (Hebrews 12:14-15)

I would be honored to pray for you as you work through unforgiveness. Please go to JodiAiken.com to leave a prayer request in my contact form, and I promise I will be praying for you.

Today's episode is a "STOP"-Scripture Today for One To Ponder from Psalm 103:2

“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits.”

If you collect scriptures on 3x5 cards, this is a terrific one to write down. It first leads us to ponder on how our souls can bless the Lord. You can't help but be drawn into a state of heart worship! Then it leads us to ponder on all His benefits.

It's simple yet so deep.

Both thoughts could lead to hours of reflecting who God is, His lovingkindness, and compassion. For the sake of time, I would like us to focus on the second portion of the scripture, “forget none of His benefits.”

Allow me to expound on the scripture reading and share with you Psalm 103:1-5. Listen carefully for a few of the benefits we have in Christ.

“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; Who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle.”

The presence of God is woven throughout our daily journey. God is personal and is interested in you and loves you. No matter what emotion, circumstance or situation you are in don’t forget His benefits. Consider what He has done and still does for you?

Did you hear the five benefits in the verses I just read to you?

1) Pardons all your iniquities
2) Heals all your diseases
3) Redeems your life from the pit
4) Crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion
5) Satisfies your years with good things

As Easter is approaching, I am reminded of the most significant benefit we have in God. His saving grace through His Son Jesus Christ.

Those that believe in Him benefit by having all their iniquities pardoned. That was the first benefit mentioned.

He has paid our debt. This is critical to comprehend!

Our iniquities (sins) have separated us from God, and the wages (debt) of our sin is death (Isaiah 59:2, Romans 6:23). But there is good news! God knew we all would sin and fall short of His glory so He had His one and only son, Jesus Christ, to suffer for our sins so that when we believe in Him, He will bring us to God (Romans 3:23-24,1 Peter 3:18).

God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).

I love John 1:12, "But to all who did receive Him, who believe in His name, He gave the right to become children of God." Then Romans 10:9, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

Jesus was crucified, buried, rose on the third day and ascended to heaven.

The tomb is empty y’all! All this took place so that we would have the benefit of spending eternity with Him.

Don’t miss out on these benefits. The value is life!

What a word Psalm 103:2 offers us to ponder on not just today but every day!

In today’s episode, Jodi takes us on a unique journey where God revealed six trusted truths from a penny she found during a walk. She ends with some practical steps to create a natural habit in recognizing God throughout your day.

There are some days that we feel down and out and need God to remind us that He has already equipped us to fight the battle, but it’s up to us to use the tools He placed before us.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God…” (Ephesians 6:12-13)

The following are six truths that can be trusted to point us to God: (Pennies printed from 2010-present have the shield on them.)

1.) The Union Shield >>> SHEILD OF FAITH

“In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” (Ephesians 6:16)

“As for God, His way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; He shields all who take refuge in Him.” (2 Samuel 22:31)

2.) The Scroll draped across the shield “One Cent”>>>THE BELT OF TRUTH

“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place.” (Ephesians 6:14)

“Righteousness will be His belt and faithfulness the SASH around His waist.” (Isaiah 11:5 “)

3.) E Pluribus u num (out of many, One) The motto of the US at the top of the shield>>>ONE TRUE GOD

“For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.” (1Timothy 2:5)

“To you, it was shown that you might know that the Lord, He is God; there is no other besides Him.” (Deuteronomy 4:35)

“Know therefore today, and take it to your heart, that the Lord, He is God in heaven above and on the earth below; there is no other.” (Deuteronomy 4:39)

“There is one body and one spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling. One Lord, One faith, One baptism, One God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.” (Ephesians 4:4-6 “)

4.) IN GOD WE TRUST= (Has been inscribed on the front of the penny since 1909)

“Some trust in Chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” (Psalm 20:7)

“In that day they will say, “surely this is our God; we trusted in Him, and He saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in Him; let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.” (Isaiah 25:9)

5.) Liberty>>>FREEDOM IN CHRIST

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1)

“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Galatians 5:13-14)

6.) The penny represents people that are marred and overlooked by others, but not by God.

The following women are examples of marred lives redeemed and restored by our loving God. The world condemned them, but Jesus had compassion on them. Jesus saw them as valuable and worthy of His forgiveness and love. Look up their stories for a more in-depth study.

⇒ Some women healed of evil spirits: Luke 8:2-3

⇒ Woman with Issue: Luke 8: 42-50

⇒ Woman Caught in Adultery: John 8:1-11

⇒ The woman at the Well: John 4:1-42

The following three scriptures are some encouraging truths from God’s word I want to share with you as I wrap this episode up.

2 Corinthians 4:6

“For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.”

Psalm 113:4-7

“The Lord is exalted over all the nations, his glory above the heavens. Who is like the Lord our God, the One who sits enthroned on high, who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth? He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap.”

Matthew 10:29-31

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So, don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

When our minds focus on seeking His presence, then our thoughts will be held captive in Christ. It’s one of the ways I fight the battle on the battlefield of my mind. I believe it will be useful for you as well. If you are new at seeking His presence daily then begin with a simple practice of acknowledging Him several times throughout your day. Once you find that you are naturally doing that without much effort, then add prayers when you recognize Him. They don’t have to be long or complicated, nor do you have to be in a particular position. Simply converse with God. I believe once you’ve exercised these new habits you will find that God will begin opening your eyes to seek and see Him in the simple things.

I would love to hear from you. Also, if this has blessed you please share it with a friend. If you would like to help me get the word out about "Pennies In Your Path" please take a minute to sign into iTunes and leave a review. Be blessed!

In today’s episode Jodi shares, that we are invited to sit with “Mercy” for a while. No matter who we are, where we come from, nor our past, Mercy invites us in to spend time in His Powerful Presence. She also prompts us to lift the lid of the Ark of the covenant to see what items are inside and how the history represented within enhances the power of His presence.

Here are some scriptures she references:

Exodus 25:21-22, “You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark… There I will meet with you; and from above the Mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony, I will speak to you about all that I will give you in commandment for the sons of Israel.

When we open up the Ark of the Covenant we will see:

1.) A golden jar with preserved manna. (Exodus 16:33-36, Hebrews 9:4)

2.) Aaron’s budded rod. (Numbers 17:1-13 but specifically vs. 10)

3.) The tables of the covenant (10 commandments). (Exodus 25:16, Deuteronomy 31:26)

God’s history with the Israelites has proven over and over that He is faithful, holy, and Sovereign.

What history do you have with God?

What items could you place in a special box to remind you of the history you have with God?

As we ponder on our history with God, it strengthens us and stirs us to be courageous in the calling He has placed on our lives. It draws us into the heartbeat of God for the lost, afflicted, and the prisoner. They need to know that they too can have a history with God if they would only meet Him.

I pray you have been encouraged to sit with Mercy for a while today. I would love to hear from you. Please leave a comment below or go to my website at www.JodiAiken.com.

In today's episode, Jodi talks about the struggle of transitioning from one place to another and the need to look for God's presence.

Have you ever relocated your family for a job assignment? We moved several times while in the military. Each move required packing up our belongings, emotions, and what was familiar. Uncertainties of when we would move, where we would go, and how long we would remain was part of military life. We were at the mercy of orders handed down from Command. We learned to depend on God for comfort, wisdom, and guidance.

Are you in the process of a move? Listen to how God reveals Himself to the Israelites and be encouraged knowing we too can seek His presence every morning.

I loved hearing from Liz because she is the real deal and shares with an open honesty of what state of mind she was in when God pursued her.

While Liz admits she is not perfect and does not have it all together she knows God has given her His Word to draw her back into full restoration.

I pray that God will encourage you and draw you to Himself through hearing Liz’s story. If you have questions about how to have a relationship with Christ please contact me through my website at www.JodiAiken.com.
