We live in a fast-paced culture. Everything is right here, right now. Anything can be at your fingertips in a matter of hours. When it comes to God, though, it seems like he is always telling us to be patient. Patience is lifted up as one of the great virtues in Scripture, but it is often really difficult. Why should we wait on God’s timing? What benefit does it bring us? On this week’s episode, Jonathan, Max, and Christian discuss this very question and dive into Scripture to better understand the importance of patience.

What does this mean for us and how should it change the way we interact with God? On this week’s episode, Christian and Max discuss the idea of God being our father; both what it means for how we view God and how our actions should reflect that view of God. Anyone who has spent time around the church or read much of the Bible has heard that we are made “in the image of God.” But what does that mean? On this week’s episode, Max, Jonathan, and Christian discuss what it means to surrender to Christ. the Bible describes this life as a continual battle between the spiritual forces of good and evil. We are told to put on the armor of God to prepare to fight this battle. We know, though, that we will not be able to win this fight on our own. We only have a chance to win if we first surrender to the one who is far greater and more powerful than we’ll ever be: Jesus Christ. Jesus wants a relationship with us, but he calls for us to submit to him as the head of his body the church. If we do that, we can be confident that we are on the winning side of this spiritual battle!

This week, Max, Jonathan, and Christian had a discussion about a call to ministry. As these men are all in very different places in life, they discussed what a call to ministry looks like in each of their unique contexts. Ultimately, the question is not ARE you called to ministry, but rather WHAT KIND of ministry are you called to? Every believer is called to make disciples and shine their light for Christ, how are you doing that in your life?

This week, Max goes through a passage in 1 Samuel that shows off the strength and majesty of God and how He is working even when it may not seem like it. We are challenged to accept Christ as king and trust in His power or to try to lean on our own strength. But for Christians, it is important to be reminded of the hope that we have in Christ and that even when trials come in this life, we can look to God who knows the finale.

In this week’s episode, Jonathan, Max, and Christian discuss an interesting, yet challenging passage of scripture. In Proverbs 30:7-9, Agur asks God not to give him riches or poverty, but to give him just what he needs for the day. This is a challenging prayer that many in the modern world are not willing to pray. One’s reaction toward this prayer, though, reflects their heart attitude toward God and their material possessions. Are you willing to ask God to give you ONLY what you need for the day? Listen to the episode to hear the guys discuss what holds them back from this attitude and how they fight materialism and greed in their lives.

In Matthew 28, Jesus calls all of his followers to make disciples. Most Christians shrug this commandment off, or make sad excuses for discipleship in their life. What would it look like if we discipled intentionally like Christ? How would we even do something like that? In this week’s episode, Jonathan, Max, and Christian look at how Christ discipled and how we can imitate that today. This full-life discipleship starts by finding someone to be discipled by. This week Max and Christian continue their series in Philippians by looking at Paul’s instructions to the church in Philippi (found in Philippians 4:1-3). In this passage, Paul specifically identifies two individuals who are not in agreement with one another and this is hurting the unity of the church. This week, Jonathan, Max, and Christian continue their series on Philippians with Paul’s instruction to the Philippians to press on. Paul, despite the many accomplishments he had in his life, did not consider himself to have arrived at the goal. Instead, he said that he needed to “press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” We as Christians should learn from Paul’s example and do the same in our own lives. How exactly should we do this? Listen to this week’s episode to find out!

This week’s Bible Memory Challenge verse is Philippians 2:22, which reads:

“But you know Timothy’s proven worth, how as a son with a father he has served with me in the gospel.”

On this episode, Max, Jonathan, and Christian continued their series on the book of Philippians. This week they discussed an often overlooked passage (2:12-18), which gives Christians practical instructions for following Christ. We are called to work out our salvation, do all things without grumbling and dispute, be blameless and innocent, and shine our lights (among other things)! We should draw out of this passage guiding principles for our lives as Christians and live to the glory of God!

This week’s Bible Memory Challenge verse is Philippians 2:15, which reads:

“[T]hat you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world”

This week’s Bible Memory Challenge verse is Philippians 1:18, which reads:

“What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice,”

On this week’s episode, Max and Christian dive into Matthew 13:44-46 and two of Jesus’ parables that describe the value of the kingdom of Heaven. From these parables, we learn how valuable it is to have a relationship with God and that we as Christians ought to be willing to give up everything in life if it comes to that in order to have a relationship with God.

This week’s Bible Memory Challenge verse is Philippians 3:8, which reads:

“Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ."

How To Fight Temptation

On this week’s episode, Jonathan, Max, and Christian discuss different ways to fight temptation in our lives. Christians often discuss fighting sin and what that looks like, but fighting temptation is just as important. If we can uproot sin before it even starts to take a foothold in our lives, we will be much more effective in our struggle. Scripture has some beautiful and empowering insights on this topic, which the boys dive into in this episode.

This week’s Bible Memory Challenge verse is Matthew 26:41, which reads:

“Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

On this week’s episode, Jonathan, Christian, and Max dive into scripture and discuss the cost of following Jesus. The Bible is clear that following Jesus will not be easy. Those who follow Him will likely face persecution, trials, and be hated by the world. We are encouraged to look forward to the eternity of God’s glory and love that we will experience as believers. Oh, how great that will be!

This week’s Bible Memory Challenge verse is John 16:33, which reads:

On this week’s episode, Jonathan, Christian, and Max discuss the next steps for people who have come to faith in Jesus Christ. The Christian life is a continual process of sanctification, where God conforms us into the image of Christ. The period immediately after coming to faith is critical in a Christian’s spiritual life. This week’s Bible Memory Challenge verse is 2 Corinthians 5:17, which reads:

On this week’s episode, Jonathan, Christian, and Max answered a very important listener question about God’s hatred of sin. It is clear in scripture that God hates sin and that should have dramatic implications on the way we, as Christians, should live our lives. Not only that, but God’s hatred of sin has a direct effect on the way He loves. How does it affect it, you may ask? Listen to the episode to find out!

This week’s Bible Memory Challenge verse is Romans 12:9, which reads:

Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.

In every area of life, destination determines direction. This is especially true in our walks with God. Without an end goal in mind, it is difficult to know what steps you should take on a daily basis to grow in your relationship with Him. In this week’s episode, Max, Christian, and Jonathan each share the spiritual goals that they have for their lives. They give you a behind-the-scenes look at their spiritual lives and how they hope to improve in the near future. You too should set spiritual goals for your own walk with God and then find godly people to hold you accountable to meeting those goals.

This week’s Bible Memory Challenge verse is Jeremiah 29:13, which reads:

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

This week, Jonathan and Max share the benefits of Biblical encouragement and why it is necessary. In a world of hopelessness, encouragement can leave a lasting impact on someone's life. We should enthusiastically share with one another how God has blessed us and use our gifts to encourage one another. Jonathan and Max also explain how even a small amount of fellowship and encouragement can build up a fellow believer and why we should make it more of a priority.

This week’s Bible Memory Challenge verse is 1 Thessalonians 5:11, which reads:

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

This week’s Bible Memory Challenge verse is 1 Peter 3:15, which reads:

God’s timing can often be difficult to see and understand. The Bible tells us that there is a time to sow the gospel and a time to reap the gospel. In this week’s episode, Jonathan, Max, and Christian discuss this idea as well as how we can apply it to our lives. Sowing and reaping require different mindsets and if you can understand which season God has you in, it will make your ministry much more effective for the gospel.

This week’s Bible Memory Challenge verse is Galatians 6:9, which reads:

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

June is widely recognized as LGBTQ+ pride month. On this week’s episode, Jonathan, Max, and Christian discuss the Bible’s take on homosexuality. Sadly, there are many lies spread about the Bible's view of homosexuality as many people seek to use scripture to support their political agenda. An objective view of scripture reveals that homosexuality is a sin which distorts God’s design for marriage in the same way that beastiality distorts God’s design for marriage.

This week’s Bible Memory Challenge verse is Genesis 2:24, which reads:

Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

This week, Jonathan, Max, and Christian discuss how to know whether you are truly saved through Christ. God clearly states that He wants us to have certainty that we are saved (2 Peter 1:10, 1 John 5:13). By looking at the words of Jesus and the apostles, the boys walk through the scripture-based way to know the state of your salvation.

This week’s Bible Memory Challenge verse is Acts 4:12, which reads:

This week, Max, Jonathan, and Christian discussed the importance of memorizing God’s word as well as some helpful tips on how to do it. Memorizing scripture is a command that we see directly in God’s word (Deuteronomy 11:18, Joshua 1:8). Not only that, but it benefits a Christian to have God’s word on his or her heart (Psalm 119:11). As a result of this, we are starting a weekly Living Victory Bible Memory Challenge where you join the hosts in memorizing one verse each week. This week, we are starting off with Psalm 119:11 to remind us how important it is to have God’s word on our hearts.

"I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you." Psalm 119:11

We also made a big announcement on this week’s episode. This summer, Max, Jonathan, and Christian will be leading a Living Victory evangelism trip! Please keep us in your prayers as we prepare for this trip and build a team to train in (and then participate in) evangelism this summer.

It is important for believers to be in constant fellowship with one another. Speaking about our relationships with God and what He has been teaching us allows us to build one another up in the faith and allows us to “stir up one another to love and good works” (Hebrews 10:24). On this week’s episode, Christian, Max, and Jonathan discuss the lessons that they have been learning from God recently and how this has impacted their lives.

How has God been speaking to you recently? Please reach out to us, we’d love to hear your story!

Last week marked the 1-year anniversary of the Living Victory Podcast. Thank you for supporting us on this journey!

Last week, Christian, Max, and Jonathan had a special Q+A livestream on Instagram and Facebook. This week’s episode is part 2 of that livestream. On the livestream, the boys answered questions about their spiritual journeys, reflected on the last year and how far Living Victory has come, and had a great time. We hope you have as much fun listening as we had recording it!

In this week’s episode, Christian, Max, and Jonathan interviewed Max’s roommate (Zach Shriver) on a very important topic: salvation and the gospel. Zach recently had an experience that showed him that he has viewed salvation in the wrong light his entire life. We wanted to share his story to encourage and inform you about the salvation that Christ offers in the Bible. We had an excellent conversation about the gospel and God’s design for salvation in this episode. It is an excellent resource for new believers and an excellent reminder for seasoned believers.

What is the role of young women in the church? What about young men? Older women? Older men? The book of Titus clearly lays out the role of each believer within the church. If you want to know what your role in the church is, this episode is a great resource for you! In this week’s episode, Christian, Jonathan, and Max continue their interview of Adam Bossom, one of Christian’s spiritual mentors, who walks verse-by-verse through Titus chapters 2 and 3. In Titus 2, Paul clearly lays out each believer’s role in the church. In Titus 3, Paul pivots and looks at the church’s role within society. These two chapters offer valuable information, which Adam helps uncover in this episode!

Are you wondering what a godly church should look like? In this week’s episode, Christian, Jonathan, and Max interview Adam Bossom, one of Christian’s spiritual mentors, who walks verse-by-verse through the first chapter of Titus. In Titus 1, Paul instructs his protégé Titus on how to set in order the church in Crete. The church in Crete was severely out of order and through Paul’s instructions to Titus, we can learn what a good, healthy church should look like. This chapter is especially valuable to help us look at our churches today and hold them up to the standard laid out in God’s word.

Do you feel like you’ve failed God? Sometimes living the Christian life is difficult. God’s word promises that we Christians will experience suffering (Romans 3:23, 8:18-22). With the fallen state of our hearts, we are going to sin. The important thing is how we react when we do fall short. In this week’s episode, Christian, Jonathan, and Max discussed how we can get back up on our feet when we fall and feel like we have failed God.

In this week’s episode, Christian, Jonathan, and Max discuss the importance of the Christmas season by looking at Max’s favorite scripture. His favorite scripture is Luke 2:10-11, which reads

“And the angel said to them, ‘Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.’”

Max explains why this is his favorite passage and then the boys go on to talk about the importance of Christ’s birth, death, and resurrection to our lives.

In the remainder of the episode, they answered the other two listener questions, discussing how many accountability partners someone should have in their life and how we, as Christians, can resist worldly influences in our lives and stand strong for Christ.

In this week’s episode, Christian, Jonathan, and Max continue their series on apologetics. In this second episode of the series, they address the question of whether Jesus’ life, crucifixion, and resurrection actually occurred how the Bible claims they occurred. They cite both biblical and extra-biblical evidence for each of the aspects of Jesus’ story in an attempt to show that the overwhelming majority of our religious and secular evidence is in favor of Christ’s resurrection.

In this week’s episode, Christian, Jonathan, and Max begin a multi-week series on apologetics. In this series, they hope to answer common questions regarding God, the Christian faith, the Bible, and the world in which we live. In this first episode, they tackled the question of how we know God exists. They looked at 2 main arguments in favor of God: the moral argument, and the creation argument. They discussed how these two arguments outline the current evidence and show how it points strongly at the existence of a creator God.
