The Gals chat with Christine Arylo, author of, "Madly In Love With Me"!   Imagine how it would feel to live in a world where every woman loved herself fully without feeling guilty. Today’s over-worked, over-stressed, have-to-do-be-and-have-it-all woman spends far more time criticizing, judging, and comparing herself than she does acknowledging, being generous to, and feeling great about herself. Even though she knows she should love herself and she wants to treat herself well, she just can’t seem to stop driving herself so hard, beating herself up, and making choices that don’t make her happier or healthier.

The man’s list of credits is long: television series Daniel Boone and Petrocelli, motion pictures including The Brothers Karamazov, The Unforgiven, Caddyshack, Escape From Planet of the Apes, Brubaker, Dragonslayer, and Breaking In, guest-starring appearances on many of the most popular shows of the day, such as Bonanza, The Virginian, Lost in Space, The Twilight Zone, and Route 66, and several mini-series. Thirty-one year old Jessica Nelson became interested in antiques and all things vintage at a young age. This native Ohioan was dragged by her parents regularly into antiques shops and she developed a love and appreciation for older items as she found that they always had a story to tell. For years Jessica fantasized of opening a brick and mortar vintage clothing shop, so it was suggested to her that she start by opening an online store on Etsy.com, a place for vintage and hand-crafted items. She debuted Green Mountain Relics in November of 2010 and after having success with this venture, opened Mountain Mantiques in March of this year--a shop focusing on "manly" antiques.    Unfortunately, the shops are not Jessica's "day job!" By day, she is the Assistant Director of Admissions at Marlboro College in southern Vermont. She earned a B.A. in speech communication from Miami University in 2003 and an M.A. in communication studies from the University of Iowa in 2006. She resides with her cat, Milano, in Brattlboro, VT, and spends her weekends hunting for treasures at antique stores, garage sales, thrifts stores and auctions. She has also started to "upcycle" some items--taking old items and giving them new life--to be featured in Green Mountain Relics soon.

We're about to have a blast here at The Vintage Lifestyle Hour, chatting with the amazing Moonlight Serenaders!   The Moonlight Serenade Orchestra has been performing great big band music since 2001!    Come on out and join us for a nostalgic trip back to WW II and enjoy a re-creation of an authentic USO Canteen Show and Dance. If you’re a WWII veteran, perhaps you’ll look back to these USO dances fondly as some of the better memories of your war experience. Or, if you’ve seen great war movies like Pearl Harbor, Memphis Belle, 1941 or The Glenn Miller Story, you saw how the USO would provide entertainment for the troops and fliers by sponsoring dances featuring the leading dance bands and singers of the time. In order to accommodate the large crowds and provide shelter, the dances were often held inside the same hangars where aircraft were maintained, local auditoriums, hotel ballrooms or nightclubs.

The hosts chat with author of "The Undying Soul- A Cancer Doctor’s Discovery", Stephen J. Iacoboni, MD!

For decades Stephen Iacoboni, MD, carried John Donne’s words with him, “No man is an island …every man’s death diminishes me…therefore, do not send to know…for whom the bell tolls…it tolls for me.” Every patient’s death begged questions. Cancer moves more slowly today, thanks to modern science.  But science provides scant solace when it fails, slowly, to save our physical forms … and religious faith too often proves fragile during a long mortal watch. Stephen J. Icaboni, MD, served his fellowship in medical oncology at the prestigious MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston where he received the outstanding researcher award and was honored to present his research findings at the American Society of Clinical Oncology. In 1989 Dr. Icaboni co-founded St. Mary’s Regional Cancer Center in Walla Walla Washington, where he lived and practiced for 16 years.  He accepted the position of Medical Director at the Kootenai Cancer Center in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho in 2001, and in 2010 returned to Washington to co-direct the Kennewick General Hospital Hematology-Oncology program.

VLH is excited to chat with Russ Lippitt, author of coming-of-age Greaser novel "The Lion's Share"! "Russ Lippitt hails from the lower class projects of New Jersey’s finest. Raised by a drug-dealing Hell’s Angel biker he called Dad and a pole-dancing junkie, his future was almost written in stone. Through writing, Russ had found his escape from reality by creating a world worse than his own. In his teen years, he had often bumped head’s with the law; so, naturally, inspired by Punk Rock and Anarchist views, he set out to become a rule-breaking writer, dedicating himself to learning the rules just to deconstruct them more fully and artistically. To this end, he shipped himself off to The Academy of Arts College to polish his writing talent. In the vein of anti-hero writer’s such as Charles Bukowski, Hunter S. Thompson, and Frank Miller, Russ Lippitt’s writing is enveloped in chaos and mayhem that incorporates his love for the rebellious fifties. In every bit of prose, Russ Lippitt’s objective is to get his readers to cheer for the villain and acknowledge that ‘The grass is not always greener on the other side if you burn it down.’ Because, for this author, anarchy is not just another word to be thrown around and dismissed as useless rhetoric, it’s a way of life."
