Talking home renovation, remodeling and renewing and what it means to us.
P.L.A.N. is more than just a word, it is an acronym we live by for our clients; to always be prepared, to lead you through the process, to adapt to what you need and to make sure there are no surprises during our home renovation or remodeling project with you.
Geoff Horen, Owner of The Lifestyle Group and home renovation expert for over 20 years, joins us each week to talk about The Lifestyle Group and its goals for each client experience, his motivation, offer advice for homeowners and DIY enthusiasts, and give listeners a chance to ask their burning questions.
In recent weeks, the demolition process has begun at our new Carmel showroom. Just like in your homes, as we have opened walls and found a few unexpected and unwanted surprises. What are they and how are we handling them? You’ll have to read on or watch the video to learn. Also, if you are curious to see the most creative, yet functional bathroom in a contemporary remodeling project, you have to click on the video and work your way to the middle to see it. Have I piqued your curiosity? If so, then listen in as we continue to demystify the remodeling process.
In recent weeks, I’ve been thinking about our brand and the perspective of those who interact with us as a remodeling partner. Then, a few days ago, I read something that made me stop in my tracks and question things I thought to that moment. So, I will ask you… which things are more important… the small things or the big things? If you are curious about the answer, listen in as we continue to demystify the remodeling process.
Our 75th podcast is a special one and I hope you take a moment to both watch the video and read this newsletter because each will be a bit different. For years, we have been looking for the opportunity to purchase a location on the northside. As of this past week, that goal has been accomplished. Want to learn why and where? Want an overview of how we plan to build out the new space? Tune in to hear how we will continue to demystify the remodeling process
If a new shower is in your future, one of the most important elements to consider is the floor of your shower. To get to the finish line of what type of shower floor will work best for you, there are a few questions that must be answered. Do you know the questions? If not, it might be a good idea to read on as we work to demystify the remodeling process.
How do we determine which shower floor is best for you? Let’s start by asking the key questions that will lead us to the right answer for you
If you have cabinets in your next remodeling project, you are likely to have cabinet hardware as well. So, what choices do you have? This week, we walk you through the many questions clients have. Pulls versus knobs. Color options? Function versus aesthetic? What happens if you want to change them later? If you want a few tips on everything cabinet hardware, join us as we continue to demystify the remodeling process.
Most renovation projects include cabinets, and it tends to be one of the line items that receives the largest amount of investment, yet it remains an often-misunderstood category within the project. There are so many options to choose from, so how do you begin thinking about it? Should you choose production, semi-custom or full custom? How do you choose a door style? Why are drawers a better option than doors? If you want a few of the basics, please join us as we continue to demystify the remodeling process.
We’ve talked in the past about what the remodeling sales process looks like on the remodeler side when you peek behind the curtain? Now let’s talk about the reality of how it really works for actual clients. Is it this neat little fairytale where the client picks the perfect partner like your knight in shining armor? We’d love to think so… but it’s normally a bit messier. Want to learn how it really works to put your mind at ease when it is your time to select a partner and do a project? Please join us as we continue to demystifying the remodeling process
Our country is so young in ways we cannot understand until we visit other places to see what old really looks like. So, what does old look like? And what does it mean to maintain or recreate a home with such great history and meaning in a way that offers modern amenities, while looking the same as it might have so many years ago? Please join us as we continue to demystifying the remodeling process
Behind my desk at work on the wall above my head is a piece of artwork that can be observed. Every zoom call. Every podcast I record. If you watch any of the videos, including this one, you will see it. I often get asked about it and there is indeed a story behind it. Tune in to learn how this week’s message contributes to demystifying the remodeling process
We spend our days focused on remodeling your homes, but we are reminded and informed by our own personal experiences of the challenges our clients face in living through a remodeling project. In this week’s newsletter, Geoff describes the comedy that is his "unwanted" and never-ending remodeling project. It began with a beep and led to a little pump that led to another pump and now a sensor. Amongst it all, a big mess to fix.
We spend a lot of time trying to help homeowners understand elements of the home remodeling process to help folks avoid the potential pitfalls that projects can present. This week, you hear from a true expert! We ask a client to share her advice having lived through a project. It’s a client that we worked with for many months on a very large renovation project. Want to know what advice she has to offer? Keep reading (or check out our 15 minute interview) as we continue to demystify the remodeling process.
This week is a bit of a behind the scenes of a recent family celebration, but with a purpose. Why do we remodel our homes? If I have piqued your curiosity, keep reading or watch the 3 minute video as we continue to demystify the remodeling process.
Where do you go when all you want to do is replace a door on your home with a good quality product that has a proper installation? What are the differences between the types of doors that get installed on a home? How do people choose which material to use on what opening? What are the entry level options and what are the differences if you want to step up a level or two because this is your long time home or possibly even your forever home?
The final week. We have spent the last 11 weeks focused on the same project. Over the last 3 months, our luxury brownstone project in Carmel hasn’t disappointed as we have tried to give you a behind the scenes look at how these projects come together. Aside from an interview I did with my Father a couple years ago, this may be my single favorite podcast and video out of the 63 we have completed to date. Why? Jared exemplifies and speaks to exactly who we are as a company. Honestly, just take 5 minutes to watch or click and read a little further. I don’t want to take away from the message. If you want to know what it means to work with The Lifestyle Group, this is the episode for you! Thank you for following along as we continue to demystify the remodeling process.
It has been 10 weeks literally focused on the same project. It’s hard to believe one project could create so much to talk about! If you like a behind the scenes look on how things get done, this is your episode. Once again, our luxury brownstone project in Carmel doesn’t disappoint and this week we move up to the penthouse of the project, more appropriately known as the 4th floor. This space is smaller in size as it is flanked by not one, but two outdoor deck and entertainment areas, but this 4th floor doesn’t take a backseat to any other part of this project. Want to understand how to properly hang a very heavy shelf? How do you get storage in built in seating? What goes into properly determining the dimensions of built ins that flank a fireplace? Join us as we continue to demystify the remodeling process.
Want to engage in a seemingly simple project like changing the cabinetry in your master bathroom? If so, you’ll enjoy this week’s topic! This is part 9 in a series where we feature elements of a luxury brownstone project in Carmel and each week we set out to show a different area of the project. This week we answer one very important question. What things must you think ahead about before buying the vanity cabinets to upgrade your master bathroom? Join us as we continue to demystify the remodeling process.
Want to learn a few tricks about utilizing trim to create a low cost feature in a space? If so, this week’s topic is just for you! This is part 8 in a series where we feature elements of a luxury brownstone project in Carmel and each week we set out to show a different area of the project while answering a few helpful questions. This week we address the following topics: What happens when you have trim come together at 2 doorways and there is no room for each door casing to be installed separately around each door? How do you create trim detail in the crown molding over a window to give it additional depth and character? As always, here are a few more answers as we continue to demystify the remodeling process.
Want to see an inexpensive, yet highly detailed powder bathroom project? You are in the right place! This is part 7 of this series where we feature elements of a luxury brownstone project in Carmel and, aside from the continued phenomenal visuals, we answer these critical questions.
What happens when you renovate most of a home and think you’ll come back for the kitchen during phase 2 down the road a bit after you’ve had a chance to recover? Let us continue to demystify the remodeling process.
Part 5 of our luxury brownstone renovation project in Carmel series features everything about the fireplace. It’s a little more than a box with some logs thrown in and we briefly discuss the details of this elegant feature in the room. In addition, we turn a door into a window.
Have you ever wondered about home elevators? How do you make a small elevator feel like the rest of a gorgeous home while navigating the restrictions of space and weight? In this final part of the series, we explore these answers.
This is part 3 of this series where we feature elements of a luxury brownstone project in Carmel. When you remodel any bathroom that has detailed elements to be featured, these elements must be planned for... but even with the best of intentions, there are times when you must be able to pivot and solve problems on the fly to identify the ideal solution.
In the spirit of being the most helpful home remodeling related entity on the planet, this week we continue a series where we review a recently completed project that you will not want to miss! It is the most ornate, detailed project we have ever completed, and the visuals are stunning...
