Jonathan Maxwell s compellingly readable book takes the reader inside Nazi Germany on many different levels. The book provides a portrait of a people and a country in continuous flux, from the events that led to Hitler s popularity, to the Hitler Youth movement, to the embrace of national socialism, to Hitler s warped inner circle. A fine piece of work, Maxwell s book will appeal to general readers interested in the inherent drama of Hitler s unnerving rise to power and his subsequent apocalyptic fall. --Jean Sasson, New York Times bestselling author

She has a great home, a husband who loves her and a talent many people wish they could have. The problem is her home is in Fairbanks, Alaska, one of the coldest places on earth, her husband was murdered seven years ago and her talent for seeing ghosts leads many people to believe she’s crazy. She’s a single mom with a secret talent. One of the few people who know of Allysen’s abilities and doesn’t think she’s crazy is her friend Harry Abernathy. Harry has his own supernatural talents. Although he can’t see ghosts, he attracts them. He is, as Allysen calls him, “a metaphysical Elvis.” In Dead of Winter (86,428 words) Harry asks Allysen to help him investigate a local doctor’s house and convince the spirits who haunt it to leave. Because she is reluctant for people to know about her gift, she initially refuses. When Harry explains that the doctor has been seeing a strange red-haired woman in his house and in his dreams, she changes her mind as she, too, has been visited by the same spirit. Rose, red-haired woman, leads Allysen to uncover the details of a century-old murder and reveal a sordid story of kidnapping, murder and prostitution in the early boom-town days of the small Alaskan city. The closer Allysen gets to the truth, the more dangerous the hunt becomes. During the investigation, Harry begins to change. Twice he attacks Allysen and tries to kill her, yet he has no memory of what he has done. Rose visits Allysen in a dream and tells her Harry has been possessed by the evil spirits that are holding her captive. They are the spirits of the men who killed her and even in death they are desperate to hide their crime. As Harry’s behavior worsens, Allysen turns to her friend Joe for help.

"If Lovecraft were around to read Sha'Daa: Tales of the Apocalypse, I think his first reaction would be annoyance ("They're building on my concept"), followed by a giggle or two ("They had a lot of fun doing it,"), and ultimately pride ("They updated it and did it right.") He isn't the only one. I think Edmond Hamilton, Jack Williamson, Clark Ashton Smith, and even Robert Sheckley could see bits of their ideas or approaches here, all filtered through this band of motivated writers, and they would be just as pleased. It's a hell of a book." Mike Resnick author of "Inescapable", (TALES OF THE DYING EARTH ) "Sha'Daa: Tales of the Apocalypse is a wild mix of the Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and end of the world genres that is well worth the time of any Survial fiction fan." Eric S Brown, Author of Season of Rot and Cobble. The Sha'Daa has its dark, eerie, terrifying roots anchored deep in the soil of fictional horror and mythic apocrypha. The end-of-days is a concept reinvented multiple times by each generation of writers with every new century, and our own 21st is no exception. We offer up this humble tribute to those who came before us. A gruesome shout out is given for Edgar Allen Poe, Robert Bloch, H.P. Lovecraft, F. Paul Wilson, Stephen King, Clive Barker, Bram Stoker, Charles Dickens, Brian Lumley, Homer, Arthur Conan Doyle, and all the rest who have given us reason to fear the night. Be warned. The Sha'Daa is coming.

Bertha, a thirteen old teenage girl, living the South Bronx, is having trouble dealing with everyday issues that children face in school and just growing up. Bertha is uncoordinated, not very pretty and has trouble doing any physical activities. Bertha has a sister named Tillie who is very pretty, very agile and has no problem making friends or doing all of the things that Bertha cannot do. They are total opposites. Tillie and many of Bertha's cousins enjoy laughing at her when she tried to ice skate; take dancing lessons or even bowl. Bertha attempted to do all of these things but could not. However, she is smart, sassy and has a great sense of humor, which helps her to deal with these experiences and others. Growing up can be difficult when you are over weight or not really good at sports or dancing. I hope you will learn from reading my book that you can be anything that you want to be and no one can stop you from reaching your goals and dreams. Not everyone is born athletic, beautiful, thin or a genius. However, every one is smart or excellent in something whether it is drawing, jumping rope or even running track. Who you are as a person is what makes you special. I hope that you enjoy reading about Bertha and Tillie and learn that there is a little bit of Bertha in everyone. My first two books send a positive message to children. They both deal with real life issues that children face today. Being over weight, bullied in school, and not very pretty made life hard for me. I know that it makes it even more difficult for children growing up today. In Bertha Fights Back Bertha learns that following the path of others and not being true to who you are can be costly in many different ways.

— Sherry Decker, Author of Hook House and Other Horrors What makes Blanket of White stand out from other collections is the emotional response to common themes: death and sadness, love and sex, loss of innocence, and twisted family relationships. These are some very powerful stories that wrench at the human heart and plumb the darkest depths of the soul. Bravo.” — Nate Kenyon, Author of Bloodstone, The Reach and The Bone Factory “Blanket of White is a collection of short stories that leave the reader fighting an attack of shivers and wondering if, perhaps, there more dreadful truth to the tales than fiction. Sometimes we remember people the way we want to remember them, instead of how they really were. We forget the fear, the horror, the torture, and we remember their beautiful eyes and hair—their soft voice. Sometimes we try to justify terror, try to make sense of it. We try to adapt. Sometimes, we manage to convince ourselves that murder can be a loving thing. There is a strong sense of winter in these stories. Chilling details and coldness pervade the characters and the tales. For the reader these stories leave more questions than answers and readers may find themselves remembering these tales for a long time.”

"The tree of life represents the roots of man. The branches are the different directions a man can take, live or exist. When you're dead, those that you leave behind will put you in a part of that tree. It represents what was, what is and what will be. It's eternal." -- John Holmes Most people might, understandably, predict that the world's first star was a woman, but they would be wrong. John Curtis Holmes was just a simple country boy from Ohio when he moved to California in 1964. It was the infancy of hardcore, so in Holmes' wildest dreams, he could not have predicted the turbulent ride on which he had embarked by publicizing his private parts. With the fame he achieved by playing his most famous character - a gun toting detective named Johnny Wadd - came money. Holmes was pleased to spend it on his wife and mistresses, but soon was in over his head after he became addicted to Unfortunately for Holmes, in the years that followed, his addiction led him into several desperate choices - including setting up a robbery at the home of Ed Nash, a powerful L.A. nightclub owner. The robbery resulted in one of the most gruesome, unsolved, multiple-murders in Hollywood history. Amazingly, before his untimely death in 1988, Holmes regained his momentum, remarried and rebuilt his life and career. However, the grave consequences of his addiction, his association with the Wonderland murders, and his AIDS-related death made him an infamous figure in pop culture. http://johnholmesinches.blogspot.com/ http://johnholmes.bizland.com/index.html

A book of Andrew Wolters latest short stories.

About The Author:

Andrew Wolter is the author of the critically acclaimed novel Nightfall and the forthcoming collection Much of Madness, More of Sin. Since as far back as he can remember, Andrew Wolter had always felt the urge to create entertainment through the written word. As a child, he was highly influenced by the plethora of horror films, both unforgettable cult and "B" classics, he would incessantly watch in the late evening with his mother. Sure, he was an eleven-year-old child at the time, and a few of them managed to scare him out of his wits! Still, he saw an art in the unknown, an insatiable portrait of dread that revolved a setting without boundaries. So it was, that he decided he wanted to create such dark tales too.

However during her ordeal, she came to realize that she might actually be right brained and she found a great deal of comfort in writing. She had many poems published and wrote of her experience with Bipolar Disorder in her short memoir published at www.Storyhouse.org/Kathleen.html as well as in the Mar/Apr 2005 edition of Today's Health and Wellness magazine.

Then the time came for her to let out her anger and frustration with the many side effects that often come with taking so many different mind altering medications. The result of her efforts was the completion of the novella Suspended. It is the perfect medication Science Fiction story based on fact and personal experience.

BIO of Band:

Pure and simple, SFD is an explosive hard-rock trio that has been called everything from the “Hardest working band in the Indie scene” to the “Real Deal”. Often compared to greats Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, the band delivers a gut-wrenching, in-your-face wall of sound with songs that have meaningful lyrics that leave a lasting impression on the listener. Whether it’s one of their heavier songs or a charged up ballad, their music always displays a very personal side of the band that taps into their strong emotions about human life and social issues of the day. The intense energy the band delivers live is something that must be seen and has often left fans dazed and confused as to how a 3-piece band could be capable of delivering such a big sound that has resulted in humorous accusations by fans that the band hides another guitar player back-stage. As legendary engineer/producer Nick Blagona (Deep Purple, April Wine, Tea Party) once said after hearing the band’s track Little Girl, “This is one band I would really want to see live. You just know they would kick some serious ass”. With their second release So Far Down in 2006, the band suddenly found themselves gaining in popularity all over the internet airwaves, being heard by scores of listeners and becoming one of the most requested bands on many of the major internet radio stations. “If you had told me that we would end up with the number 6 song for 2007 on the hugely popular syndicated Scott and Pam Show, or have the top requested song on Broadcast Asylum, reaching as many as 450,000 listeners per show, I would have said that’ll never happen,” says vocalist & guitarist BRAD WILSON. “We put our heart and soul into our music and sometimes we have this feeling like 'is it as good as it needs to be?' But to get both the fan and industry response we’ve received in the past couple of years validates everything for us.

Since he is eccentric, he has been known to be interested in books, frogs, and Christmas trees, amassing large collections of each—sometimes combining his interests, like the Christmas tree decorated entirely with frog ornaments and stuffed animals. And he also collects books on Dianetics and Scientology.

Ancient Egypt holds a fascination for him; he has a scarab beetle tattoo between his shoulder blades as well as a collection of Egyptian items in his bedroom and a somewhat large collection of books on Egypt.

He enjoys creating stories for his fans to read, saying, “I am a writer, a novelist. I write in the Gothic horror tradition: dark and moody. Someone once complimented me by saying my second book is ‘Sleek, sinister, and seductive.' I very much enjoyed hearing that.

"I've also been told I am across between Clive Barker and Anne Rice. A compliment, indeed, considering these are two legends of the craft.”

Frank believes writing is an art form, whether the writing is great literature or his own writing which he refers to as ‘schlock horror.'

“L. Ron Hubbard said ‘The artist injects the spirit of life into a culture' as well as ‘A culture is only as great as its dreams, and its dreams are dreamed by artists.'

About the Author:

Beth Trissel, author of historical and light paranormal romance, published with The Wild Rose Press. I'm married to my high school sweetheart and live on a farm in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia with children and multiple animals. The beauty of the valley is an inspiration, as are my roots which go well back into Virginia’s history.~ My fascination with the colonial frontier and the Shawnee Indians is an early and abiding one. My English, Scot-Irish ancestors had interactions with this tribe, including family members taken captive. Intrigued with all things Celtic, much of my writing features the Scot-Irish who settled the valley and spread into the mountains and the Carolinas. ~ This absorption with early America also extends to the high drama of the Revolution and ancestors who fought and loved on both sides of that sweeping conflict. ~Moreover, I am ever intrigued by ghost stories, and Virginia has more tales than any other state. I find myself asking if the folk who’ve gone before us are truly gone, or do some still have unfinished business in this realm? And what of the young lovers whose time was tragically cut short, do they somehow find a way? Love conquers all, so I answer ‘yes.’ Please also visit me at my author website: http://www.bethtrissel.com/ http://www.thewildrosepress.com/

Features exclusive interviews with JOHN CARPENTER, ROGER CORMAN, BONG JOON-HO, LARRY COHEN, GREG MCLEAN, RYUHEI KITAMURA AND ADAM SIMON...

From the year dot, things that go bump in the night have coloured our collective storytelling experience. The hypothetical ‘monster’, in whatever guise or otherworldly shape it may take, is the manifestation of our fears and social paranoias, and an effective watchdog for making sure we all toe the line.

Through literature, the monster has found a lasting legacy but, through cinema, it has developed from black & white into full Technicolor glory making the monster movie an enduring document of social times, movements, fears and desires. This book peels back the flesh on a few monsters that have tingled our spines and caused more than a nightmare over the past 100 years.

In the years leading up to the 1950’s there were no resources for the challenged. They were placed in asylums or back rooms and left to die. They were never talked about or acknowledged. They were the silent children. The ones no one wanted. The ,ones who never given a chance to live. Florida Author Yvonne Mason has given us a story of success in a time of failure for the challenged. She has given a voice to a child born in 1952 who became challenged. This young man was not put away. He was not shunned and he was not ignored. In her book Dream Catcher, Ms. Mason tells of Stan who was never supposed to succeed. He was supposed to fail. Ms. Mason takes the reader into the life of Stan’s family as they deal with an older child as well as a baby who is challenged. She brings to life the pain, heartache and deep emotion of the mother as she learns to cope with Stan. Ms. Mason also brings to life the hope, the love and the deep abiding loyalty of the family as more siblings are added to the mix. The stories bring tears, laughter, anger and feelings of hope, success and belief that behind all of us there is the ability to succeed even when we feel we can’t. The United Protectorate is under attack by the reptilian alien race known as the Brelac. The Brelac's bloodthirsty onslaught brings forth the creation of the genetically engineered humanoid weapons called Reploids. These Reploids are the perfect weapon in every way; they are identical copies of real humans that have been captured, killed, cloned, embedded with powerful psionic-based abilities, and programmed to kill for the Brelac. They are untraceable, they blend into human society, and they are believable-so believable, that the Reploids themselves do not know they are clones. Colin McKenzie is a second generation Reploid planted in the Protectorate military. When he turns on his commanding officer in an attempt to protect a shipwrecked band of Brelac soldiers, he is captured and reprogrammed-along with two other arrested Reploids-to serve the government they were originally created to destroy. A dark alliance between the Brelac and the separatist organization Vendetta looms over the Protectorate. The balance is upset when the traitorous Doctor Howard Fenlow-the scientist who is the very creator of the Reploids-manages to produce a weapon powerful enough to bring the Protectorate to its knees. And there are only three that can stop it.

A young ruler, a robot with human wants, needs form an alliance to save their planets and eventually their love.

Shells Walter started writing when she was about 11 years old. First came poetry. As a person at one time who was shy and had trouble communicating with others, Shells put her poetry as a diary.

Mostly dark poetry at first that even scared the school she was attending thinking she was going to do something awful.

As it turns out, Shells continued with her writing since she picked up her first story by Edgar Allen Poe at the same age.

She became enthralled with Horror writing and soon developed a much needed taste for it. Later on Science Fiction followed.

Now Years later she still writes stories, flashes, micros, screenplays, plays, novels and novellas. She also freelance writes for a living.

In 2008, she ventured into the publishing world with Sonar4 Publications a Science Fiction and Horror Publications company.

The idea expanded into several different publications housed under that company, staff and friends, sometimes both, have developed through this venture.

Soon she will dive into the film industry with Sonar4 Productions.

Both Sonar4 Publications and Sonar4 Productions will be housed under Sonar4 Enterprises.

Shells still writes amongst everything going on and is participating in a few upcoming projects. Along with having a few novellas coming soon. And she doesn't plan on slowing down anytime in the future.

The Monster Within Idea by R. Thomas Riley

The monsters lurk in everyone: monsters of greed, of guilt, of the pleasure found in pain, of the pain found when pleasure dies. Carefully disguised, the monsters can sit down beside you or take up residence within you at the slightest twist of fate. Will you try to stop them? Will you want to? This collection of 18 stories from R. Thomas Riley deftly explores the monsters born of the human mind. “Attrition” offers a future prison system that frees only those who repent sincerely—but what can an inmate do if he finds that sincerity is not really the key? “Twin Thieves” and “Tautology” throw a devilish spin on relationships gone wrong, while “The Lesser Evil” twists the abuses of race and power into a gritty, noirish nightmare of the choices a man must make to protect a lesser man and a greater good. In “Touching God,” a young man’s past catches up to him when worlds bleed into each other and the past crosses into present, bringing back the abuse he once escaped and the brother who wasn’t so lucky. Sacrifice, selfishness, and the worst of good intentions: all combine in The Monster Within Idea. From vampires and aliens to hit women and Wild Bill Hickock, Riley gives a subtle psychological turn to dark science fiction and horror. Let the monsters walk the paths of your mind. The idea is already within.

"To be eaten alive, to be prey instead of predator—this is an ancient fear humanity still holds in that primal part of our minds. Losing our place at the top of the food chain—the very thought of it—strips us of our civilized arrogance. We are no longer the hunter; we’ve become the hunted. This is the essence of vulnerability, and it reminds us that no matter how far humankind has advanced, we can still be meat for the beast.

The Devil’s Food anthology offers you eighteen variations on the grisly theme of being eaten alive—becoming the prey, and losing that coveted predator status we humans take so callously for granted in a modern age of safety glass and auto-lock doors.

Eyes watch you from the shadows. Something licks its lips and growls. Your heart beats harder when you hear the footsteps shuffling ever closer behind you. You’ve entered a playground where survival is the ultimate goal. If you lose this game, you become The Devil’s Food." --Louise Bohmer

Haunted by the memory of his mother’s death, Micah Graves has made it his mission in life to find the answers to his questions. For most of his childhood, he watched the mother he loved waste away, the victim of insidious cancer. But what he remembers even more vividly is the smile that graced her face, as if all pain ceased, in her final moments; she smiled at someone or something he couldn’t see.

Searching from one funeral to thousands, what he discovers is there is much more to this life and the afterlife than he’d ever imagined.

YOU-TURN: Changing Direction in Mid-life is a collection of “over 40 stories of people over 40.” The inspiring stories are from a diversity of real people who started a new path—and will motivate you to do the same. A grieving mother started a school for the leprosy-affected in India; a crack dealer became a real estate investor; a 73-year-old singer enrolled in law school; a catering director started rehabbing used cars for low-income people; a Harvard lawyer became a New Age healer, and more. Click on “About the Book” for complete chapter-by-chapter synopses.

Whether you’re looking to change careers, begin a relationship, have children, find meaning, or just find balance, this book is for you. It also includes a “driver’s manual” and tips on easing yourself into a life change.

THIS BOOK WILL HELP YOU. . .

• Identify what’s not working for you anymore • Explore where you might want to go • Create a roadmap for going in the direction of your choice • Transfer skills from your “wrong” direction to enhance your right one • Overcome fears that prevent most people from changing • Learn how your unconscious has been programmed—and reprogram it • Design and live a life that fulfills you • Get motivated to pull a 180!

About the Author: In her own words, Dr. Irwin says, "I believe every child's birthright is that his or her sexuality will blossom in its own time. Sexual abuse thwarts that right.

With all humility, I wish there had been someone like me around when I needed help. We, fortunately, live in terribly exciting times when this issue is 'out of the closet' and help is readily available.

I can't remember a time when music wasn't a part of my life; indeed I believe I'm a connoisseur of beautiful sounds. And there is nothing on earth more exquisite than the sound of children's laughter. We can heal and find that happy, loving child within us again ... that child who simply wants to celebrate the joy of living." Dr. Nancy Irwin graduated f

About the Book:

When we make love, when we’re stroked, when we spend time with close friends, and even when we pet an animal, our brains respond by releasing pulses of oxytocin. This chemical, produced by the hypothalamus, floods the brain and body with feelings of connection, trust, and contentment. Researchers believe that this natural, powerful "love drug" plays an important role in all human social relationships. The Chemistry of Connection offers new information about how brain chemistry affects our platonic and intimate relationships and explains how oxytocin research can help us understand the psychological differences between men and women. But the book goes beyond detailing the biochemistry of love. It offers practical tips and guidance to help readers increase their natural supply of oxytocin in order to develop deep connections with family, friends, and romantic partners.

About Chemistry of Connection: You may have heard of oxytocin, known as the "cuddle hormone." It's responsible for letting us feel life's most wonderful emotions. When we make love, when we’re stroked, even when we spend time with close friends, oxytocin floods our bodies with feelings of love, trust and contentment. This naturally secreted brain chemical is also the secret to forming committed relationships, turning lust into long-lasting love.

But this love chemistry can go awry. When it does, we may bounce from one disastrous relationship to another, falling madly in love with wrong person after wrong person, while caring suitors leave us cold.

The good news is, we can revitalize the body's powerful urge to bond when it's safe and right. I want to tell your listeners how to maximize their supply of this feel-good chemical in everyday life and how they can work to fundamentally change their emotional chemistry so that loving and trusting become as natural as breathing.

was born in Tennessee, near the Smoky Mountains, a region abounding with natural beauty, the birthplace of country music and Jack Daniels whiskey. Even though I currently live in another state, Tennessee is, and always will be, my home. Now I'm called an Okie and I'm not quite sure I like that term but the natives don't seem to mind. Hey, even Merle Haggard sang about being proud to be an Okie from Muskogee! I live in a very small town on Lake Keystone, about 25 miles from Tulsa. I'm married (the reason I moved to Oklahoma) and I have two grown daughters and a very spoiled Boston terrier named Tiger. I won an essay contest when I was twelve. At the time I lived in France, thanks to being an Air Force brat. My mother heard about a European-wide essay contest about Law Day--May 1st. Looking back I realize this must have been a military "holiday" because no one else I know has ever heard of it. Being terribly patriotic I thought I'd give it a try. There were only ten winners across Europe and I was one of those ten. The winners got to go to a courtroom in their country and watch a day of trials with lunch at an outdoor cafe. Even though I hadn't learned a great deal of French yet, I thought it was wonderful! That night as I lay in bed, totally exhausted, I had an epiphany. "I think of something, put it on paper, and someone rewards me for it? Yeah, that's what I want to do when I grow up--BE A WRITER!" I played with writing for the next several years. I never dreamed of submitting anything (no one told me about S.E. Hinton writing that killer book, The Outsiders, at the age of 16!) but I never stopped writing. I'd write scary stories and tell them to my cousins, hoping one of them would cry or run away screaming. When I hit high school I wrote stories with my friends in the leading roles. They loved it. Then I allowed life to drag me away from writing. I came to my senses and went back to writing in 19

A professional writer for the theater for over a decade, Greg has an impressive list of original productions to his credit. He is a national Telly Award winner and creator/producer of the annual Baltimore Comedy Fest. J.K. Coi lives in Ontario with her amazingly supportive husband and son. She graduated university with a degree in history and in law, and has worked for many years in the legal field, with a current focus in intellectual property law. Writing has always been an important part of her life, and when she leaves the office, she leaves it all behind to immerse herself in a world of fantasy—of demons and magic, fascinating warriors and the women strong enough to love them.

Synop:

Mild-mannered Sarah McInnes just wants to be left alone. She’s looking forward to finishing graduate school and then working a nice, normal nine-to-five job as an accountant. But when fate interferes with her carefully laid plans in the form of the mysterious and sexy Dorian, her life takes an unexpected detour. Dorian is a take-no-prisoners kind of guy. For him, duty comes first. So when he intervenes one night to save Sarah from the murderous hands of a daemon and discovers she has the innate ability to fight them, he of course steps in and offers to train her. Daemons notwithstanding, the job would be much easier and their relationship less complicated if Dorian didn’t also happen to be the hottest thing this side of hell. Now instead of spending her nights in the library Sarah spends them with Dorian, keeping the city safe from monsters and sending them back where they belong. Whether she wants to or not, Sarah has to face the facts: daemons exist, she possesses the power to kill them, and she may never make it to Calculus on time again. That’s the Trouble with Destiny...

Silent Scream

Port St. Lucie, FL - Oct 30, 2008 - Florida Author Yvonne Mason is pleased to announce the

release the true crime book Silent Scream. In 1972 Martin County Deputy Gerard Schaefer was

arrested for the aggravated assault of two young women by the name of Nancy Trotter and

Pamela Wells. They were the lucky ones. They got away.

On April 1,1973 the bodies of two more young women , Georgia Jessup and Susan Place were

found on South Hutchinson Island. They had disappeared from Fort Lauderdale on Sept 23,1972.

The police investigation which ensued led the authorities back to Gerard Schaefer who was by

this time serving six months for aggravated assault on Nancy Trotter and Susan Wells.

The firestorm and the evidence uncovered in the investigation led authorities to believe that Ex-

Martin County Deputy Sheriff Gerard Schaefer had killed more than just these four young

women. Evidence gathered during a search at his mother's home revealed at least nine and as

many as possibly thirty four over a span of six years beginning in 1966 and continuing until

Until this crime, Florida had never experienced anything like what is now known as serial

killings. Gerard Schaefer was considered the first perpetrator of this type of crime. Crime Scene

evidence testing, DNA testing and the ability to link similar crimes was primitive at best. Law

enforcement didn't communicate with each other and there was no way to tie these types of

crimes to one perpetrator. Gerard Schaefer was caught simply because he got sloppy.

Ms. Mason's Silent Scream gives the victims a voice - a voice which has been silent for over 30

years. Some of the young women were never found, some cases were never closed and there

were never any bodies to bury.

Gerard Schaefer took their voice away when he bound, gagged, hung, tortured, and buried their

bodies in remote areas. He killed in pairs so one co

For one man, life in the quaint town of Spook Valley is about to take a dramatic change as he commences a battle against creatures of legend and folklore. He will discover that the survival of the entire world rests solely upon his shoulders as he becomes entangled in a nightmarish web of the fantastic that consumes his every waking minute. The ultimate war between good and evil has arrived. It begins at nightfall.

Bio:

I like to be known as an author without genre boundaries. Many have referred to my fiction as homoerotic horror, due to the gay element that seems to make its way into my works. Perhaps, it is merely art imitating life. Notwithstanding, I'm not a whore like some of my characters in my first novel, The Rules of Temptation; nor am I an evil creature as depicted by the troupe of characters in my upcoming novel, Nightfall. I am a writer. Yes, I write what I know, and, perhaps, I have experienced such. However, a writer's job is to grip the audience; and one of the ways that he/she does this is by fabricating the truth and bending reality into a kaleidoscope of the fantastic. That said, I hope you all get a chance to enjoy my books.

I'm proud to tell everyone that my story, Her Promise, will be in the January issue of The Odd Mind! Gloria When I was a little red-haired girl I used to live in what was to become known as "The Zone", a place never to hear the voice of Rod Serling, see the profile of Alfred Hitchcock, or feel the jet-stream of a passing super hero, but a blend of all of the above. In "The Zone" I sang with Alvin and the other Chipmunks, rode with the Lone Ranger on my trusty stick horse, and wore my mother's voluminous half slip on my head, visualizing it as long golden tresses sure to capture the eye and heart of my prince. I was born in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains into the most wondrous, crazy family ever to bless a child. My family told me that my imagination could be my best friend. I've never had any reason to dispute that since it's helped me to cope with life's bumps and bruises. It's even boosted my checking account a few times. I've had over four dozen short stories published in national magazines, as well as serial and holiday stories published in regional newspapers. I have a short story published in the anthology Shades of Tulsa and I'm a contributing author to Book Marketing A to Z. In 2004 I won first place for a short story submitted to the OWFI conference contest in the confession category. I won first place in the America Nostalgia Prose category at the OWFI conference in May, 2005 for a short story created from a chapter in Saturday Night Cocoa Fudge. I won prizes for poetry and a Sci-Fi book in OWFI writing contest in 2008. Lanaia Lee was born in 1957 to a Navy father and a schoolteacher mother who home-schooled her. In second grade, she was reading on a 4th grade level, so they moved her to a private school to enhance her education.

When she was nine years old, her mother died from a massive stroke. Because her father was rarely home, her grandmother, a professed black witch, gained custody.

When Lanaia was 14, her grandmother abandoned her, and she landed in foster care where she had four different sets of foster parents within a year, because she kept running away to avoid men who attempted to molest her. At age fifteen, she went to boarding school on her dad's GI Bill. She graduated in her junior year after which she drifted, living with various people with neither a family nor a home. At eighteen, she married and divorced having three miscarriages. By nineteen, she began working in management for convenient stores and restaurant chains.

She remarried at age 30, then had a stillborn daughter a year later. Five years later, her husband left her for a seventeen-year-old. She filed bankruptcy, and one month later suffered a massive stroke, which, after seven months in the hospital, put her in a wheelchair.

The next two years involved intensive physical therapy, but she would never walk again. She took the step of finding work to help her rehabilitation. She found employment at vocational trades where she met my soul mate, David, also in a wheelchair from a motorcycle wreck he sustained in 1984. They married in 1992 and are still happily married.

They, too, lost two children due to her disease, erratic hypertension. She and her husband live independently, and she still drives.

In 2001, David dared her to write a poem. Out of curiosity, she posted it in an online poetry forum. The feedback was so positive, she kept writing. At first, she wrote just poems, then short stories and finally novels. All of her work is typed one-handed because o

About the Book: These are the true life stories of the men and woman I have associated with in my twenty year career as a Paramedic. While reading this book, you will get to feel and understand some of the pressures of working the street. The Streets Ran Red is an account of the lives of a pair of deputy sheriff paramedics and the supporting cast of medical experts who helped them save lives. This is a true account of a group of special individuals who make up a very special team. The accounts described in this book actually happened and the victims were real. The names and locations have been changed at the requests of some of the characters. These are the men and women who, on a daily basis protect and serve the public, from the perils of the real world. The golden hour of trauma begins when a person is injured and the clock starts to tic. This is when the trauma team of Doctors, nurses and paramedics step up to the line and save your life. Some of the actions in this book are graphic in nature and intense in reality. This is the nature of the job. Split second decisions have to be made if you are to survive. So before you ask, "Why" read on and the answer will become clear to you.

Well my very first book has now been published. I figure it must be pretty good. After all, the first publisher I submitted it to want to publish it. Check out 'A TRUCK FELL ON ME'. It can be purchased through amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com, Target.com and other on-line book stores. The book is about a near fatal accident I was involved in. As the title suggests, a truck actually fell on me. Right across my lap. I missed being a pancake by about six inches. While the book was written in a light hearted manner, it does also touch on some pretty serious subjects such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder complete with graphic flashbacks and even suicidal thoughts. I also had an out-of-body-experience. Check out the pictures. Sorry they are in black and white. I hope to eventually have the color photos on my space.

I owe my life to their brothers and sisters that came to my rescue on November 6, 1998. I owe my freedom to the men and women of our armed forces. She has no idea that her temporary home, the Victorian-era Blackthorne House mansion is a portal to a century-old mystery. On her first night a ghostly encounter entangles her in the spectral mission of the mansion's original owner—Eric Blackthorne, master magician.

Complicating matters is Alex Blackthorne, handsome and charming descendent of the ghostly magician. Also, there's Zach Zavala, who has guy-next-door good looks and a straightforward manner. Plus, Zach's grandfather Francisco is a retired detective and a kindred spirit who appreciates Shannon's apprehension about her paranormal experiences.

Things-that-go-bump-in-the-night clues haunt Shannon's sleep. By daylight eerie occurrences make it crystal clear what path Shannon must take. After solving the Blackthorne House mystery, Shannon is left with the biggest question of all…

I am a culmination of life lessons. I am wise for the mistakes I've made and wiser still to know I will make more... hopefully not on purpose.

I am a writer...musician...painter...voice talent.

In the art world, they call me an "outsider" because I've had no lessons or training. when it comes to styles and techniques I have no clue except what I have discovered on my own.

Honestly, is there really a "right" way to be creative? Who's rules are those that dictate how we express ourself? Doesn't that go against the whole concept of "create"?

"We treat them like dirt and love them like no other. We renew ourselves in them. They strengthen us. They believe in us. We believe in them and their ability to make everything right again... or at least feel better."

I'm a small town boy, turned big city technology manager, turned novelist. I spent my early years searching for an intellectual challenge, my adult years trying to find the humanity in technology and services that replaced people and now I'm right where I should be. I have a wonderful family, a new writing partner, my puppy Bella, and I love being with my kids out here in the suburbs and writing every day (and night). Life couldn't fit any better.

CJ West writes thrillers that feel like they're written about the family next door. Although his books are action-packed, each book explores a theme of character or faith. CJ attributes this combination to a strong Christian upbringing that valued piety and industriousness, but also athletic competition, shooting sports and an ability to live off the land.

Sin and Vengeance, the first book in CJ's Randy Black series, was optioned for film by a screenwriting firm in early 2008. The screenplay, written by Marla Cukor, is complete and has drawn interest from a number of producers. A Demon Awaits, the second book in the series offers a major twist in the storyline and challenges readers to forgive Randy Black's mistakes and follow his journey in future novels.

CJ embraces social networking and keeps in touch with readers on MySpace, Goodreads and Facebook. He personally answers his messages and regularly posts updates on his work. Links to each of CJ's profiles are provided at http://www.22wb.com.

About A Demon Awaits

A Demon Awaits picks up the action from the last page of Sin and Vengeance and kicks it into a new gear. When the dust settles, Randy Black is left to question his faith and his humanity. He's turned away from his teachings and done horrific things. Now Randy is being held to account.

From the Back Cover

Randy Black wants to die...

Overcome with anger and grief after losing his parents, Randy Black plans to sacrifice himself to avenge them. He plots revenge for 10 years then destroys th

Books: Painting the Invisible Man - http://www.paintingtheinvisibleman.com In 2001, while researching the online archives of her hometown newspaper for a client, freelance writer Rita Schiano made a keying error—a simple mistake that led her to a path she'd been avoiding most of her life; on a journey inside the world of her father, killed gangland-style more than two decades ago.

Schiano turned that difficult journey into an engrossing novel. Painting The Invisible Man is a poignant, often hilarious coming of age story that explores the complex dynamics of growing up in an Italian family on the fringe of the Mafia.

Lesa, here is an excerpt from and interview to give you background.

Q: The disclaimer on the copyright page indicates that Painting The Invisible Man is based on a known event. Yes, that's true. The story is influenced by the 1976 murder of my father. Like the character Anna, I was researching the archives of my hometown newspaper for a client, and I made a keying error. I accidentally charged ten articles instead of one to my credit card. After retrieving my client's news article, I began typing in names of people I knew that still lived in Syracuse. Why I typed my father's name, I'll never know.

Q: What did you find? I found thirty-seven articles from the 1990s that referenced my father. It wouldn't have been all that strange had my father not died in 1976.

Q: Was there a particular headline that caught your attention? There was one that mentioned FBI surveillance tapes of the man who was acquitted of my father's murder, bragging about getting away with murder twenty years before. At that moment I knew I had to ex

Growing up the last of five children, I had both the privilege and the burden of watching my older siblings. One current throughout my family's life was basketball. I followed my brothers' footsteps and worked hard to be an All-State basketball player in high school, earning a spot on the McNeese State University basketball team. I sat out my first year in college and then joined the team my second. It was rough; constant pain in my knees, achilles tendons, not to mention three badly sprained ankles, made it impossible to compete like I wanted to. I turned to drinking and the night life of a college athlete to assuage my frustration in knowing that my basketball career, everything I had worked so hard to attain as an athlete, was seemingly out of my control.

On a night in February, 1999, everything changed. I was working on some homework in the computer lab at school when suddenly the most violent of shakes hit me. I tried to sleep that night, bundled up in layers upon layers of clothes, but I couldn't. I know now that had I gone to sleep, the poison in my blood would have reached my heart and killed me.

I didn't fall asleep, though, and my trainer and assistant coach took me to the emergency room. My hand was swelling, and that night was maybe the worst of my life. The pain was relentless, and the nurses could not administer any stronger medication without the approval of a doctor. I didn't know how fatal this disease could have been at the time as I do now, but I finally passed out that night somehow knowing my life would never be the same again.

I spent the next two weeks in the hospital. Doctors were in and out initially, and the head of the Center of Disease Control said he'd never seen a pathogen take over somebody's body so quickly. Monday afternoon I'm practicing with the basketball team. Five hours later I'm in the hospital fighting for my life.

I changed in those two weeks in the hospital. I watched my mother cry and the outpouring of support

Sean Harris grew up in a small town in Kansas, entertaining her friends and family by writing short stories, plays and radio dramas. In the end radio won over writing and Sean spent the ten years after high school working as a commercial radio disc jockey in Wichita, Kansas. Along the way, she found time to pick up a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Communication. Because she likes a good challenge, Sean also taught public speaking to college freshmen, most of whom would have rather been getting root canals sans Novocain than learning how to outline and deliver a speech.

In 2004, Sean and her family moved to Fairbanks, Alaska. Since winters there last nearly nine months and are very, very cold, Sean decided she needed to find a good indoor activity and returned to writing in the frozen north she soon grew to love.

However, Sean soon picked up her snowshoes and moved again, this time to the sunny warmth of Houston, Texas, where she currently lives with her husband, two sons, and four dogs.

I served in the Air Force for 20 years, my purpose was to be a part of something bigger than myself. I was fortunate and was a part of humanitarian missions my whole career. I have moved on from that life and I have fully embraced being a civilian. My next life seems to have grown legs. I am just ME and I will always be the very approachable and real woman I am today. Though I have worn combat boots, that did not dimenish my sensuality.

My View: There is nothing wrong with sex. I am not a sexually repressed woman. It is an incredible part of life. Not the only part mind you, but pleasurable intimacy is wonderful.

I adore the company of men. If that is not direct enough, well, I find them fascinating. It is easier for me to make friends with men than women. I think it is because I am very direct and appreciate the same from them.

I appreciate ALL creative spirits. This is NOT a place of judgement. This is NOT a place to place ads. I AM HOWEVER ALL ABOUT OTHERS! Artists, musicians, Writers, Poets, Playwrites, Actors, Film, and those who have an honest interest are more than welcome. If you have something coming up, LET ME KNOW!! This is a place for collaboration, for exchanges of ideas. This is a place of warmth.

I do contribute on a regular basis for Chic Today, I use that venue to PROMOTE OTHERS. This is a UK based publication and if you have a story that you want told, let me tell it. This is about giving. I use that as an opportunity to showcase talent and shine the light on others.

Since As The World Dies was originally published online, I have a group of really awesome fans who have encouraged me to get their favorite zombie novel published and into their hands as soon as possible. Studying up on the way the publishing world works, I realized that the journey to publication via that route is a very long and mind-numbing one.

I became inspired by the new media and the many authors who are now declaring themselves Independent Authors and striking out on their own to take my writing career into my own hands and make it happen.

Being an Independent Author means I get all the creative control, all the responsibility and all the fun of making sure my novels are the best they can possibly be. Like an Independent Filmmaker or Musician, it is my responsibility to put out the best representation of my work possible and make sure the people who will enjoy it have access to it.

The amazing artist known as Detra did the cover artwork and a group of proof readers have been kind enough to help me with making sure the novel flows well and is as free as possible of all those pesky typos.

I keep a writer's blog at http://rhiannonfrater.blogspot.com/ and free fiction here http://www.scribd.com/people/view/112721 and my website and shop for the book and merchandise here http://www.freewebs.com/rfrater/

I could tell you that I've been writing since I was old enough to pick up a pen. But, that's a cliche & I know you've heard it all before. I'd much rather tell you that I know what it's like to be on the recieving end of a damn good book; to be so captivated by a story & the characters that you just can't put it down. Yeah, remember that feeling? Almost like watching a great movie, only better because reading allows your imagination to run wild. This is where I live because fiction is so much fun! I write romance; I'm one of those hopeless romantics. But, I also love a good twist. Throw in some mystery, suspense, even some horror. My novel: LADY GABRIELLA is published by Blu Phier Publishing L.L.C, & is available at Amazon Lady Gabriella will soon be available at a bookstore near you. Visit the Blu Phier website: Blu Phier website

Where to begin. Well, I used to write for a small time, local newspaper. That was addictive. I had a blast doing it even though I managed to make a few enemies along the way. All part of sacrificing for the news. I spent several years in the entertainment business, putting on karaoke & DJ shows at parties & bars. That was fun, but late nights & terrible singing finally took its toll on me, although I didn't mind the free drinks. Then I bartended for awhile. Now, that was just plain fun. In between I wrote. I published a mystery/suspense/romance book entitled Lady Gabriella that has recently been released on the market. & I am presently writing a mixed genre novel, Twin Medallions which is a few chapters away from being completed. I also wrote a short crime/serial killer story with another author, Jimmy Gillentine that has been published as part of the Preditors & Editors Help Anthology. Nowadays I concentrate on doing what I love: writing.

Susan believes that life is meant to be happy and free of struggle - that life is an opportunity to remember our divine nature and to have fun.

The Hawaiians say there are many paths to the top of the mountain but the view from the top is the same for everyone. At the top of the mountain, no matter what path you take, you learn to love unconditionally and see the perfection in all of life. The Toltec tradition is one of the many paths that can help you reach the top so you can create a life that is a safe, joyous, loving and fun.

The Ancient Ones were men and women of knowledge in Teotihuacán, Mexico. Their spiritual teachings have been handed down for over two thousand years through generations of shamans, referred to as Naguals. For many years Susan studied with don Miguel Ruiz and his mother Sister Sarita. After she completed her apprenticeship don Miguel told her to go and teach in her own way. With deep gratitude to her mentor, don Miguel, she shares these powerful teachings with others.

Transformation is perhaps the best word to use when describing the life of Susan Gregg. Born and raised in New York City, Susan found her teenage world turned upside down when her parents moved to a small, rural town in northern Vermont.

Susan pinpoints a survived suicide attempt (doctors were amazed she lived after ingesting cyanide) as the turning point in her life. She realized at a profound level that she could no longer run from life's problems and that there are no outside solutions. Susan became willing to do whatever it took to create happiness and personal freedom for herself. From a very early age Susan always felt there was something beyond what she experienced with her five senses. That feeling sparked the exploration of human potential that led to Susan's life work.

After graduating from the University of Vermont with a B.A. in mathematics, Susan began to research human behavior and creativity in the mid-seventies. In the mid-eighties she moved to S

Born and raised in the remote countryside of Shreveport, La., Bruce

Hennigan knew his future was full of potential and possibilities. Much

of his time was spent playing with his siblings deep in the Louisiana

woods, and his childhood experience provided the frame work for a

fertile imagination and led to his lifelong love of creative writing.

The son of a postman, Hennigan's parents worked diligently to

provide for their family. His mother drove a local school bus, while his

father took extra jobs as a part-time farmer and music minister.

Hennigan's parents instilled in him a strong Christian foundation and

left him a legacy of storytelling. Members of his family often told

stories of life during the Great Depression and World War II, planting

seedlings that would eventually lead to his own creative endeavors.

With a love for creativity, Hennigan would learn to harness his active

imagination, write his first short story at age 13 and soon occupy his

time with drama. By the time he was a senior in high school he had set

his mind on becoming a full-time writer but was unsure of how it would affect his future. With deep

conviction rooted in his Christian faith, Hennigan turned to God for guidance and was directed to a

career in the medical field. While he focused his determination on medical school, he continued to write

throughout college and nurtured his ambitions to be a writer. In 1979, he earned his medical degree from

Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport and was certified by the American Board of

Radiology in 1983.

Hennigan married Sherry Kidd, whom he had met at church, in 1980. Together they have a son, Sean, and

a daughter, Casey. In 1995, a combination of a stressful work schedule and news that his daughter was

diagnosed with epilepsy sent Hennigan into a deep depression, a battle he faced for two more years.

Following in his father's footsteps, Hennigan went in to the

Set six-years after the loss of his wife and son in a terrible accident, Justin wakes one morning to find a new emotion stirring within his soul, a faint glimpse of hope has awaken a desire to live coupled with a desire to know why he had to lose the most precious part of his life—his family.

Proud Souls is an emotional roller-coaster ride, taking the reader from one aspect of the human psyche—sensations of hatred and discontent—to varying emotions of soft sensual arousal, laughter and relief. Our hero is accompanied on this inner journey by the town pastor, Reverend Hillard Ray Polk, the town grocer, Ralph Winslow Parison and the lovely woman dubbed town whore and head barkeep to the Hawk's Nest, Tessa Jameson.

A True Saga of International Adventure and the U.S. Naval Intelligence Community. This is a true account of one young American man's 5-year career in the United States Navy.

During his time in the service the author traveled to eleven different countries spread across three continents. He served aboard a famous US war ship, the USS Reuben James (FFG-57)—known for her appearance in "The Hunt for Red October."

Following the events of 9/11 the author became a full time military police officer, standing guard duty on the gates of Pearl Harbor and searching for the now infamous IEDs used by America's terrorist enemies.

Finally, the author served as a tactical intelligence analyst at the Joint Intelligence Center Pacific, located in Pearl Harbor, HI. His area of focus at JICPAC was North Korean military analysis. Book: http://www.fiveyearsinhawaii.info/ Blog: http://www.jmkwriteswell.com/

Synop:

What would happen if we were given one more day to spend with a loved one we had lost? Ruby DuPont loses her husband Charles to cancer after 40 years of marriage. She is devastated. We get a glimpse into their lives, both before and after marriage. After his death, Ruby is given one amazing day with Charles to reconnect and reflect on their lives together as well as the inexplicable signs that pointed to his impending death. Inspirational, even miraculous, we come to learn that faith is the binary code in this tale of lost love. The result is clarity on dealing with loss in a positive, self-affirming way.

You'll also get to know me a little bit: Like I'm 22 years of age, my name's Joseph McGee—or Joe. I hope you check out some of my work; you'll be helping support a new author and you just might like the book, too! Okay—the most important part is you, Dear Reader, liking the book.

My first novel, In the Wake of the Night was on the bestseller list on BN.com for supernatural-horror; Phil's Place and Darkness Won't Rest has been on the bestseller list on Amazon.com, and Phil's Place has been nominated for two awards and was a top 6 finalist for the Predators & Editors Readers' Poll.

My next novel, Snow Hill is due out in July by Blu Phier Publishing

I'm also the author of many short stories that have been in electronic and print magazines. I started out with freebies going into circulations of hundreds, than getting small change for circulations of small thousands, and now some of my shorts are being in major anthologies and magazines, such as The Sound of Horror, Gifts of the Flesh, and I'm co-editing Winter Frights with David Montoya.

Synop:

1948 is drawing to a close and things couldn't be much worse for Private Detective Hamilton Baker. It starts with a simple phone call from Diana Kramer, a smooth tongued woman who begs the detective to find letters she's written to her lover, Sheriff's Deputy Chester "Chet" Ferrebee. Chet is to wed another woman this afternoon and Diana, the scorned mistress, wants the letters back where they belong.with her. Hours after the wedding, when Chet turns up dead in a roadside motel room, his bride beaten beyond recognition and unable to remember anything, Baker fears his client is somehow involved. As he searches for the letters, he unwillingly digs into the past of the sleepy town of Crane Haven and uncovers the dangerous secrets of a group of men who shattered a young girl's mind, as well as her chance for happiness, years ago.
