Taylor decided to put together a new tour to encompass those four new albums released since Reputation, a new tour to make up for the time when stadium tours were not happening, a new tour to look back on all the previous albums that had not received love in a while, and now we are going to talk about it.

This is one I regret missing but I am so thankful for this film with it's excellent visuals and audio that is a live feed direct from the sound board. The production values on this concert were incredible and seeing this film only confirmed my resolve to see Taylor in person the next time I am able.

I watched the film Taylor Swift; Eras Tour on (available on Disney+) and had tons of social posts, news articles, and first hand accounts from friends and family who went and attended the show in person.

Tune in and hear all about my review of Taylor Swift; Eras Tour.

Sunday, November 20th, 2022 @ Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles California Elton John took the stage for his final show in North America, on his final tour.

It was a long journey getting there but I managed to attend and I want to tell you all about the live show, as well as rewatching the recording from Disney+.

Elton John is iconic. He is a legend in the music industry and a name everyone knows. He is a wizard on the ivories and wordsmith for the ages. To see him perform even once was an experience and a memory that will live with me forever.

“It’s been 50 years of touring the United States, across all 50 states. This is my seventh concert here at Dodger Stadium. Tonight is the 271st show of the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour and my 103rd show in the Los Angeles area” - Elton John

At the time of this episode being recorded it is still available on Disney+. 2 hours and 33 minutes of awesomeness that I highly recommend you check out even if you are not a huge Elton John fan. The audio is the direct feed from the soundboard with the crowd mixed in inbetween songs so it’s not like you are listening to something recorded on someone’s iphone.

I loved every single moment of it live, and I loved every single moment of watching it again at home.

Go check out Farewell Yellow Brick Road on Disney+

Over 10 years I have had the privilege of calling Ashley my friend, and my concert buddy. Recently she moved on to the next adventure to listen to music in a place I cannot go just yet, and I cannot move forward without first taking a look back to say thank you.

Someone said grief is the price you pay for love and the day of her service that payment was high.

I had the pleasure of attending many, many concerts with Ashley over the years and music one only one small faction of pur friendship. I posted a small tribute on her page, and now I am publishing this podcast episode, but I cannot begin to adequately put into words the impact, the significance, Ashley had on my life.

10 years were not enough and I am going to miss her tremendously. Today, I am taking a moment to remember Ashley, my concert buddy.

This may be my final concert of the year, but if that is so this is one hell of an experience to go out on.

Andy Grammer is on my Must-See list for whenever he comes to town and being able to have a VIP, Meet N Greet, Pre-Show Show Experience was exactly what I needed at this point in time.

In episode 23 I talked about my love for Andy Grammer, his music, and how I feel at many significant moments in my life one of his songs was there to keep me complany.

7 albums, 2 ½ hours, a circular stage that rotates, 81,000 of my closest friends, and 1 epic performance from the front row.

Ed Sheeran's Mathematics Tour came to SoFi Stadium in Inglewood CA so I had to attend. This was a ticket I purchased almost a year ago to be sure I didn't miss it and I am so glad I did.

After watching the documentary The Sum Of It All on Disney+ the songs Ed sung on this setlist were even more impactful and more meaningful when heard live. You could clearly see the emotion on his face during a couple of them.

Press play to hear all about the 4th or 5th time with one of my must-see artist and this incredible show Ed Sheeran put on at SoFi.

View Details

I watched the documentary The Sum of It All recently and want to dive all into it. Ed Sheeran is one of my favorite artists and I am going to see him in a few months so this documentary dropped at the perfect time.

Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All is a 4-part docuseries released on May 3, 2023 on Disney+, a few days before Subtract. Like his previous documentary Songwriter, it goes behind the scenes making of the album Subtract but also includes Ed's private struggles during 2022 which lead to the album being made, like turning 32, dealing with grief over the loss of his closest friend and SBTV founder, Jamal Edwards, fear for his wife, Cherry Seaborn with her tumour, the Shape of You court case and being a first time dad of two while struggling with depression and anxiety.

You should check this out even if you consider yourself a casual fan of Ed, it is a deep look into everything leading up to the writing of his latest album Subtract and the Mathematics tour. It is a good peek behind the curtain of an artist and a look into the personality of one the best singer/songwriters in the game today.

Janet Jackson (Miss Jackson if you nasty) brought her Together Again tour to FivePoints Amphetheater in Irvine, California and it was everything I expected it to be.

For only having 4 background dancers, a live band, not touring in 3+ years, and being almost 60 years old this was an amazing show.

Opened for by Ludacris who took us back to our high school days, I couldn't have asked for a more fun night.

Ok this episode is a little overdue but I still wanted to talk about Stagecoach 2023. The festival took place a little over a month ago from the time of this episode in Indio, California just after the Coachella festival in the same location.

News broke last week of Tina Turner passing away at 83 years old in her home in Switzerland and the entire world took a moment to have out heart break together.

She has collaborated with some of the greatest acts we know and recognize today, inspired so many who are in the limelight right now, and was recognized world wide as the Queen of Rock N Roll for decades.

Tina was noted for her "swagger, sensuality, powerful gravelly vocals and unstoppable energy", along with her well publicized history with ex husband Ike Turner and her famous legs. Her influence, her inspiration, her fingerprints are all over the music industry today and will be felt for many more years to come.

Live your life in such a way, when you are gone the entire world pauses, even if just for a second, in order to morn together.

Tina Turner was, to put it simply, the best.

Caochella 2023 was....interesting to say the least.

Full disclosure, I did not attend the festival in person this year, but I did watch the live streams all 3 nights both weekends, and I am in 3 very active groups around the festival.

This episode was originally going to be a review of weekend 1, but as I was recording it so many things kept developing with Coachella as a whole and the lineup for weekend 2 that I just decided to wait and review both at the same time. I am glad I did.

I said it last year and I will say it again this year; next year, all 3 weekends for sure.

Tune in to hear my review of Bad Bunny, Blackpink, Frank Ocean, Blink-182, and so many more. Coachella 2023 was one for the books.

Simple right?

Well not for most. Having attended multiple concerts or live events in their lifetimes gives many people a large library of shows to choose from. Each show stands out in it’s own way. Like many others I woke up to the news there had been yet another shooting, this time at a country bar in Thousand Oaks. I didn't know how to process the information. I was unsure of the right things to do or say.

Thousand Oaks, California was hit with a tragedy, an unthinkable act of violence that took the lives of 13 people. Borderline Bar & Grill was the sight of a heartbreaking event where people went in to enjoy a Tuesday night and never returned home.

It took me some time to be able to form a complete sentence about how I felt. What was going through my mind and my heart was a whirlwind of emotions that I could not form into words until recently but when I could I picked up a recorded and let it all come out.

This is me in my car, speaking from the heart about another tragic shooting. If you were impacted by this know you are not alone, know there are others here for you as well. Listen to this episode and reach out to a friend or love one and lean on each other as we all, somehow, move forward, together.

When you see the same artist time after time something amazing happens; they begin to see you. Being a good groupie instead of a creepy stalker is a fine line but doesn’t have to be. Seeing the same artist grows a special connection and develops deeper memories with the songs they play.

I groupie for just a few artist now, being able to give back to the artist who share so much with me in the form of their gifts and talents is something I consider an honor. Not only does it pull me closer to the artist and their music, but it make me a part of the process.

There are plenty of local artist in your own backyard or touring you can see on a regular basis. Go and attend their shows and use the tips mentioned in this episode to become a groupie instead of a creepy stalker.

We often opt-in to a newsletter when we purchase tickets or when want to receive a free resource download. After a few shows or a few resources those newsletter emails can pile up. Newsletters for music boil down to essentially (3) types of emails you can sign up for:

  • The artist themselves
  • Venues
  • Merchants or Promoters

Being on multiple list results in receiving multiple emails that can stack up in your inbox. You may miss a show simply from not seeing an email until it is too late. I want to help you de-clutter your inbox and see only the information that is relevant to you in the long run.

I have a newsletter where I delivery you a tip or trick to help you enjoy more live music, whether an online tool or an app on your phone, or even a product you should have in your backpack or purse whenever you go out I aim to make each and every concert be amazing.

Sign up to have this awesome resource delivered directly to your inbox and use the practices mentioned in this episode to ensure you never miss out on the information you truly care about.

Going To A Show In A Group

Special guest! My long-term concert buddy Steven and I sit down to discuss going to concerts in a group. We reference many of the advantages and disadvantage we have seen over the years and give recommendations for handling a group dynamic.

Steven is a sound recording engineer, a sound designer, and a mixer (the audio kind, not what you use to make a cake.) He and I went to film school together many years ago and when I broke off to pursue business and the marketing side Steven continued with the engineering side to learn the many tools of the trade.

With over 10 years of friendship and around 7 or 8 years of live music together we have encountered all sorts of interesting dynamics including seeing a show in a group. Give the episode a listen and be sure to join the public group on Facebook!
