If you’ve been following my T1D journey on Instagram, you’ll know I lived in diabetes denial for the first 19 years. When I was diagnosed at 12 years old, I was put with a diabetic team that huge expectations of a really tight A1c. I could never meet their standards and would always get a lecture about poor sugar control... If only I had have met the incredible Credentialled Diabetes Educator and Dietician Sara Adhami 😭 She has a wonderful and very realistic approach to managing T1D. She understands that blood sugar levels can have a mind of their own at times. She has a very caring approach to helping T1D’s and will work with her patients on an individualised approach. Meaning: she understands we all have different lifestyles. She understands we all thrive on different foods. She looks at each patient as an individual and will work with them accordingly. In today’s episode, I ask her some fantastic questions that have come from my Instagram community. She has great advice regarding teens and A1c levels, diabetes technology and diet during conception/pregnancy. Enjoy, Mel x Sara’s Instagram is @diabetes.simplified_bysaraa
