Branching off of the YouTube videos to the radiowaves, Finding A Better Way comes to podcast land! Just. As with the vlog, this podcast will be all about finding better ways to pursue passions and advance our mental health & wellness! Thanks for joining in on the journey 🤗
Just some food for thought I snacked on yesterday. Keep shining and striving, my friends. What YOU do matters! I feel like this quote from Kamala Harris perfectly sums up the sentiment behind video:
"There is a lot of work to be done to make sure our leaders reflect the people they are supposed to represent. The more diverse a group of decision makers is, the more informed the decision will be. Until we achieve full representation, we all should understand we are falling short of the ideals of our country." - Kamala Harris

Hey guys! Just wanted to share a few thoughts I contemplated this weekend following the death of Chadwick Boseman. Definitely not a poised academic discourse but hopefully a relatable reflection that prompts further discussion among your inner circles.

Hey guys! With everything going on these days, I've taken some time to personally reflect and process. There were a couple of insights that I felt were ideas worth sharing, so I made a quick video about it. Basically, being authentic with activism for me means voting more critically in local and state elections and using my professional skills as a way to yield change. What does being authentic in your own activism mean for you? Personally pondering this question for myself honestly really energized me and helped me shift my focus away from being overwhelmed by the myriad of ways in which we can promote change. So, perhaps it would be fruitful for you too. ✌🏾❤✊🏾

My impromptu photo shoot from a couple of days ago, entitled "Reflections in the Forest", brought to you by Shelter At Home/Social Distancing Productions lol My staycation is drawing to a close, and while it may not have been the vacation I wanted (i.e, spending time with friends and family in Dallas, visiting Titus, having a big huge 30th birthday party bash - y'know the usual), the calmness might have been just the type of vacation I needed. I've been trying to practice finding the little blessings amongst the chaos lately, and being able to visit little preserved parts of nature like this one has definitely been one of them. Continue to stay safe and stay smart everyone! 🤗
My inaugural Zoom-powered Finding a Better Way interview! As we all continue to shelter at home, I've found a way to finally start the interviews back up again! Even though it is a segment of Fridays with Friends, I couldn't contain my excitement until tomorrow lol So I present to you an interview with my friend Erika Jean or more aptly named Captain Erika Anderson, MD. In this interview we discuss how she's found a way to pursue her passion for travel and health by becoming a flight physician. We also discuss creative ways to stay motivated to work out during this pandemic and fun travel tips! Check out the full interview via the link in my bio, IGTV, the Finding a Better Way Facebook page or Spotify! AND be sure to check out Erika's blog CaptainWanderlustMD.com and follow her @veggalo 😊#FindingABetterWayVlog #FridaysWithFriends #WomenInMedicine

Happy Monday everyone! Whipping out a year-old recording that never got edited/posted! As previously posted, a year ago my biggest worry was this graduation photo shoot. Now there's a whole slew of different concerns about our society to say the least. This video, though, serves as a healthy reminder to have a shift in perception to allow ourselves to see things differently and find creative solutions to challenges. Check out the full video via the link in my bio or IGTV! OR even via the podcast version on Spotify 😊 Hope everyone gets off to an awesome start this week!

Happy Monday everyone! During my day off last week I took advantage of the warm weather and limited crowd to take a stroll in Eisenhower Park and record a segment. It's been a while since Finding A Better Way has been 'on location'! lol This particular video was inspired by a Zoom didactics lecture about Lifestyle Medicine, Stress Management, Resiliency and other self-care considerations. Y'know, only all of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE topics to dive into during residency! lol So, needless to say, I was thrilled to tune in. One concept that really resonated was the idea of focusing on your physiological state. When your mind is racing, work out the body to match the mind. Then when your body has calmed down, that change in physical state allows the mind to calm down, as well. So I whipped out my handy dandy calm book to put this in to practice. Super simple concept, but powerful nonetheless. In typical Jasmin fashion, I'm sharing with you to reinforce it for me. 😊 Check out the full video via the link in the bio! Hope everyone gets an awesome start to their week!

I wanted to pop in and share a thought about about comparative suffering as seen through the perspective of @brenebrown. Hello friends! I've decided to make a little vlog about how I'm coping with the COVID-19 pandemic so far. Which has included setting up a little 'home/sidewalk gym' lol Check out the full video through www.youtube.com/user/iheartmusic11000! Quick disclaimer: This isn't really meant to be a formal/academic commentary on it all and certainly isn't meant to make light ofall we're going through, but simply sharing how I've found a better way to get through it all day by day ❤ And maybe provide a little comic relief which I'm sure we all could use right now 🤗

Dug through my old graduation photos and found this gem to wish everywhere a happy belated #NationalWomenPhysiciansDay! Which just so happens to coincide with my first #FindingABetterWayVlog video of the year (link in bio!) - briefly outlining how I got to where I am today 😊 Appreciating the trailblazers who came before me like Dr. #ElizabethBlackwell, first woman to earn an MD in the US and who the day honors AND especially to Dr. #RebeccaLeeCrumpler, first African American woman physician in the US, making it a reality for someone like me 🤗❤✊🏾✌🏾

Even though I was only able to attend one session, I really got inspired at the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (@aclifemed) conference! The video link in the bio pretty much sums it up: Lifestyle Medicine promotes eating well, moving regularly, sleeping adequately and so many more behaviors that could help prevent, treat and even reverse chronic diseases. As a budding physician it's really inspiring to learn all the variety of ways I can help my patients - and myself- enhance health ❤

It's time for another #Calm habit update!
Last month I focused on 'going for a walk' which was HILARIOUS because it literally rained hail, thunder and lightning literally every other day during my last weeks in west Texas! Needless to say I've only recently been able to make good on going for a walk outside while I've been home in Dallas the past few days. So I consider that a win!
Next up is a habit that has historically been quite a challenge for me: cultivating a daily meditation practice. Check out the full video via the link in my bio to see why I've been so resistant towards starting a practice and why now, more than ever, is a perfect time for me to start 😊
