How do I move forward after a major disappointment?
How do I love myself without being arrogant?

Our emotions are an important part of life, but they're not supposed to be the driving forces behind who we are. In the first part of "Surface Tension," we'll take a look at why it's important to be aware of your emotions and how to identify where you're at on the journey to emotional health.
This week Pastor Josh unpacks the story of the prodigal son from a fresh perspective. God loves lost things. Listen to learn about “the heart of the father” in the conclusion to the Parables series.
When our lives are broken and barren, it's difficult to see the possibility of any good - or God - in our circumstances. But what if God can take our wilderness seasons and use them to bring us closer to Him and closer to the promise He has for our lives?
Following Jesus comes with a cost. But when you surrender your life to God, He will give you His life in return. There is so much more on the other side of obedience!
Excuses are deadly. So why do we make them so much? And what excuses are we making that are keeping us from truly living out the life God has called us to?
People are all different. It's one of the most beautiful parts of life, but also one so many of us fear when we dig deep down inside our motives and thoughts. How do you love the people around you well, whether or not they believe the same way, look the same or think the same? Who can you be a good neighbor to?
God isn't fair. Not what you expect to hear, right? But what if in all His goodness, He knows exactly what we can handle and weaves our lives together with all that in mind? This message unpacks the "Parable of the Talents" and how God gives gifts and talents according to our ability.
God is like a farmer. His desire is for us to grow into the person He's created us to be, but it takes a lot of learning! He doesn't expect us to be perfect, He just asks that we trust Him with the seeds of truth He plants in our hearts when we choose to listen to His voice.
Jesus makes all things new in our lives. But how much do we actually stop to value what's been done for us? To consider all the mountains moved and the wounds healed so we can have the abundant life He promised?
What do you believe and how does that impact your everyday life? As we wrapped up the Creed Series, we were each challenged to reflect on all we've learned, embrace the questions we still have and move forward inspired to grow closer to Jesus.
We are all part of "the church." The church isn't just a building, events or denominations. You are the church. We are the church.
Listen to Part 10 of "Creed: The Church" as Pastor Josh talks about us being the church and the art of "one-anothering."
Have you ever wondered if God is disappointed in you? Or if He was angry at you? No matter what, God loves you. Period. Listen to Part 9 of "Creed: Together We Believe" as Pastor Tabitha discusses how God shows us love through correction and gives us a hope-filled life!
Life is crazy. Wouldn't it be nice to have a personal coach that could help you figure out which direction to go and what choices to make? The Holy Spirit is exactly that in our lives. He's not a ghost or figure of speech or a genie-in-a-bottle. He is God's promise to never leave us, even in our darkest moments.
Life with God is all about the process. No matter how long we've walked with Him, we will always be learning and growing - and through it all, we can rest in the finished work of Jesus.
God's goal is not to make you happy, it's to make you FREE. Happiness is fragile, depending on the condition of our circumstances, but freedom leads to joy.
At the beginning of "Creed: Together We Believe," we looked at "The Apostles' Creed" and determined a few lines that raised questions. This week Pastor Tabitha unpacked one of those lines that represent the real hope we have in Jesus.
Jesus suffered, was crucified, died and was buried for three days. Why? He did it all for us, to restore a relationship broken by sin. Because of Jesus and all He sacrificed, we can now live freely and lightly in relationship with God and other people.
When we mess up, God doesn't run from us. Instead, He steps right into our mess to help us through. He does the impossible in our lives because of Jesus.
Jesus. Is He just another religious figure or does His name carry meaning and authority in your life? In part three of "Creed," Pastor Josh breaks down what it means for Jesus to be both Savior and King of our lives.
God is infinitely powerful, yet intensely personal. Isn't it amazing that the God Who created Heaven and Earth cares deeply about the details of your life? This is a promise we can stand on day in and day out.
Culture is full of different belief systems, from how to raise our children to what makes a balanced diet. There are things we "know" to be true for our lives, but is there a difference between "knowing" and "believing" something?
Who are you when no one is looking? Let's be people of excellence and integrity regardless if anyone can see us.
The Cross has been the pinnacle symbol of Christianity for centuries, but are we missing something if our belief system stops there? Jesus gave His life on the Cross, yet He didn't remain in the tomb. Watch this message to find out what that means for your life.
God answers prayers. But what do you do when He responds to someone else before you? Learn how you can find faith in the waiting in Part 3 of "Miracles."
When you're believing for the impossible, there are plenty of people around to tell you why it can't happen. In part two of "Miracles," we'll take a look at the story of a blind man surrounded by people telling him to be quiet and remain in his darkness. When he chooses to ignore their bad advice and talks to Jesus, his life is changed forever.
The Bible is full of stories about miraculous things happening – the impossible becoming possible. Are they just stories from an ancient day? Or does God really step into our modern day mess to make the impossible happen?
Over the weekend a team returned from a 10-day mission trip to Brazil. In this message, Pastor Josh shares a few insights he learned along the way reminding us that God is sovereign no matter what our circumstances look like.
The Bible has a lot to say about how to treat other people, especially in the context of relationships. However, through the years tough subjects like "submission" have been used to abuse authority rather than as a tool to honor one another.
What are you cultivating in your relationships? Relationships are a two-way street, and there are habits you can grow in your own life that build up the people around you.
"Who you are" is not defined by your past, or even who you think you are. Watch this message and learn that how you see yourself determines how you live and how you treat other people.
Developing habits of prayer and serving something bigger than yourself is key to reaching the "one." Check out this message as Pastor Josh wraps up a mini vision series by unpacking the importance of these topics. SHOW MORE

What prevents you from taking time to rest? As a society, we have become increasingly busy and overworked. This fractured idea of "success" has woven itself into our very identities. We’ve all been on the receiving end of someone’s hurtful words or actions. But when we allow bitterness to take root and make the person that hurt us our enemy, we miss out on the full life God has promised for us. While you don’t have to forget what happened, choose to let go and forgive today!
We're all broken and we all make mistakes. While there are consequences for our actions, God will never throw us away because He's a good Father. If you let Him, God will step into the middle of your mess and you'll experience His grace that destroys the power of sin.

Why is it important to make worship a priority in your life? If you're like many people, you've got a list of resolutions and are ready to conquer the new year. One of the keys to living "the blessed life" is generosity and you are never more like God than when you give. Find out more in the fourth part of "The Blessed Life."
Learning to trust God can be an interesting journey, especially in the area of our finances. In the Bible, God instructs us to tithe, but what does that mean? Is He just after our money? On the contrary, when we explore God's word in this area, we find His desire is to bless us. Find out more in Pt. 2 of "The Blessed Life."
How would you describe "the blessed life?" Is it found in our possessions? Our economic status? In reality, "the blessed life" cannot be defined by external things. It's all about what's inside the heart! Check out Part One of the new series "The Blessed Life."
Racial tension is a huge focus in today's media. As Christians, how are we to respond to these issues? Like many other things, perspective is key. In the final part of "You Asked For It" we invited Andre Anderson to join us to discuss the topic of race and our role in the conversation.

Relationships make a huge difference in our lives, and we believe that healthy relationships are a key part of moving from where you are to where God wants you to be. In Part 4 of "Beyond Ordinary" Pastor Josh walks through the story of Ruth and Naomi that demonstrates the importance of relationships.
This week we see the story of Peter stepping out of the boat on the Sea of Galilee to pursue Jesus. Many times God doesn’t just call us to live a life of comfort. Watch this latest message from the Beyond Ordinary series. What is God calling you to do?
God created you with a purpose in mind, but sometimes it's difficult to know what to do and where to start. There are needs all around us that constantly fight for our attention, but there are some things that we just have to do something about. Life is not a spectator sport. Just like we see in the story of Nehemiah, take a step and do something to make a difference. True joy and fulfillment comes from helping others.
Our mission at Faith Community is to help you move from where you are to where God wants you to be. Life is a journey, and an important part of the process is realizing that God is more interested in your direction than your attempt at perfection. Take a look at week one of "Beyond Ordinary" as Pastor Brian shares how God used Abraham's life to demonstrate this principle.
Check out this message by guest speaker, Pastor Brian Kitchen as he wraps up the "Teach Us To Pray" series.
“Prayer should be our first response, not our last resort.” What would it look like if your prayed before that meeting today or took a moment to pray before starting the day with your family? How would your perspective and interaction with the people you’ll meet be impacted?
Life is busy, and prayer is often times an afterthought. Choose to "pray first" and make prayer a constant priority in your daily life. You'll have a better mindset to start your day or face a situation, and develop a deeper relationship with God.
How do you pray? It's a topic that many of us secretly struggle with on a daily basis. In the series, "Teach us to Pray," we'll be talking about how to communicate with God and relate to Him in a way that builds the personal relationship He desires with each of us.
Trials and hard times will come. So how do we handle them when they do? In James 5, the author gives instruction and insight on how to deal with the difficult things of life in community with other people. Check out this message as we wrap up our "James" series.
Your words are powerful, carrying the ability to build people up or destroy them. So how do we use them to speak life into people instead of death? Recognize that your words carry weight and choose to speak life!
"Faith without works is dead." You've probably heard this phrase taken from the second chapter of James in the Bible. But how does this work alongside Paul's writings when he says "you are saved by grace...not by works?" In part two of our current series, Pastor Tim breaks down the real meaning behind these two pieces of scripture and how – while they seem to contradict one another – they actually work in harmony to teach us some important lessons.
Choosing to follow Christ doesn’t mean hard things won’t happen. But, when we embrace the difficulty of the journey, He can do good things through our struggles. James 1 says to “consider it pure joy” when we face trials, because it is the endurance through these times that strengthens us.
We are committed to reaching our city, our country and our world. One of the ways we do that is by supporting missionaries around the world on a monthly basis. We heard from missionary Terry Castleberry. Terry, along with his wife and children, have spent many years serving the country of Belize. Hear more about their journey in this message.
God is not surprised by the storms of life. In fact, Jesus tells us in scripture that we will encounter struggles. So how do we survive the difficult times? When we allow God "into our boat" during the storm, He has the power to bring peace and gives us the opportunity to rest in Him throughout whatever hardships we may face.
This summer Faith Community is launching a huge renovation of the Faith Kids areas and Pastor Josh sat down with Bruce Barry from Wacky World Studios on Sunday to talk about the project. Check out this video to hear Bruce's story and more about the impact this project will have on our community.
In Luke 15, Jesus shares a story about a shepherd that leaves his entire flock of sheep when one goes missing. The shepherd valued the one lost sheep so highly, that he left the whole group of 99 to find the one that wandered off. Check out this sermon about being a church that focuses on reaching people that have not experienced the life-changing message of the Gospel.
Life is full of uncertainty. In those moments, how do we trust God and embrace the discomfort of moving forward without knowing what's going to happen? The story of Esther paints a beautiful picture of a woman embracing a moment of great uncertainty, leading her to save an entire people group.
Life is constantly changing around us. From family to jobs, to our personal walk through life, it can be difficult to handle all the transition happening around us. But, the more we turn our focus towards Jesus, the more our identity is revealed and the less we worry about our circumstances.
Over the past 50 years, God has been faithful. As we move forward, we know He is going to continue to be faithful, and we are excited to be a part of His plan for this community. Check out this message about remembering the amazing things God has done and walking forward into the incredible future God has planned.
We all have a story. While there are probably many moments filled with joy and happy memories, we all have those deep, dark corners of our lives that cause pain or shame. The beauty of the Gospel is that it can meet you wherever you're at in life. You'll find peace and healing, and be empowered to live out the purpose He created you for!
Easter represents so much more than chocolate bunnies and eggs. It's about freedom, grace and relationship. The cross changed everything, and it's for you. What's your vantage point?
Following Jesus isn't about just "becoming" a Christian. It's about embracing the purpose you were created for and choosing to follow Jesus. In Part Two of "Vantage Points" we take a look at a man named Simon of Cyrene. Simon was seemingly unimportant.. randomly picked out of a crowd and forced to carry the cross to the crucifixion. But, was this moment more significant? Was this a moment that changed Simon's life forever?
How do you view the Cross? Is it just a religious symbol that hangs on the wall or is it the scene of something that changed the course of humanity forever? For many of us, we've approached the Cross with shame or fear of judgement. As we take a look at the story of Barabbas, we see a man guilty of treason and murder. But, as his story intersects with Jesus, He is set free in exchange for the life of someone completely innocent. Don't ever think your guilt cannot stand in the presence of grace. It's what He paid for!
An encounter with God can radically change your life. Maybe you need the Power of God to heal a sickness or you need to experience His peace in a situation that feels overwhelming. The good news is, you can encounter God anywhere at any time!
One of our main goals as a church is to help you discover your purpose and live the abundant life God has in store for you. The Church isn't made up of just the pastor and staff. The Church is YOU. God placed specific gifts and abilities inside of you to help build His Kingdom. What can you do to make a difference with your life today?
We were created to do so much more than just live for ourselves! God wants to use you to make a difference in the lives of people around you. Watch Part Two of the "My Church" series about being a church that exists for others.
God created us to live an abundant life filled with joy and purpose. Even though situations and relationships can get tough, He never intended us to be weighed down by the difficulties of life. Choose to enjoy life today!
At Faith Community, part of our mission is to reach people in our city, country and world and every month we give to missionaries all over the world. We recently began supporting Randy and Kathy Cartwright and their work through Rural Compassion. Check out this message to hear more about what they do to impact people throughout rural America.
A legacy is developed over years of building a life with those around you. You can't rush it! What you do in faith today can leave a lasting impact for the generations to come.
God has an incredible plan for your life. However, there are things that can get in the way of leaving the legacy God intends and even prevent us from living the abundant life He has called us to live. Choose to trust His plan, even when it's hard to see!
Most of us would rather God provide a mapped out explanation of what's going to happen rather than a compass pointing in the best direction. But, the journey to freedom and leaving a lasting legacy happens one step at a time.
What would you do if you had no more debt? What kind of life would you live? God did not create us to live a life burdened by debt. Start your journey to financial freedom with The Freedom Project beginning January 10.
The topic of offense and forgiveness probably touches everyone at one time or another. During the Christmas season, feelings of hurt, bitterness or pain are often heightened for many people. While the enemy's plan is to steal our joy, what if we could truly have a "White Christmas?"
God has given us each resources so we can be a blessing to others. This holiday season, be intentional about showing people the love of Christ. Whether you decide to give financially or even offer free babysitting for a friend, God can use your act of generosity and kindness to make an eternal difference!
We've all heard it said that you're more blessed when you give than when you receive. Being generous is not just about money, it's about the attitude and posture of your heart. God loves when we give to others cheerfully, and not just because we think we have to.
If you're like most people, you've probably started a diet or made a new year's resolution that didn't quite stick. When it's time to make a change, how do we actually follow through with it? God is passionate about you and has a good plan for your life. Get rid of the excuses that hold you back and make the change!
Are we living in the end times? Many people have predicted the day Jesus will come back, but the Bible clearly states "we will not know the day or the hour." So what should we do? Focus on what matters and remember these are our "last days." Invest in relationships with people and make a difference wherever you are. You only get one life, so spend it well!
Disappointments happen, so we have to learn how to deal with them! When life gets tough, turn to God first and invite others to help you walk through the situation. God can even take the pain of your disappointment and use it to help other people! Don't live defeated. Keep this perspective, and live as an overcomer!
We all have those people in our lives. The problem causer. The short tempered. The complainer. Instead of nursing the frustration or telling all your friends about it, rise above it and help reverse the situation!
God has a plan for you. His desire is that you know Him, find freedom from whatever holds you down, that you discover the purpose He created you for and then make a difference with your life!
We were created in the image of a relational God, so we can't help our need for relationships. A big part of "changing your world" happens within the group of people you spend the most time with. You were never meant to do life alone, so today choose to be intentional about building healthy relationships that will help you move from where you are to where God wants you to be!
We all have a sphere of influence and changing our "world" doesn't have to be something huge and extravagant. Often times impacting the world around us works best when we simply stick to doing the work God has called us to do and "being there" for the people in our sphere of influence.
We are never more like God than when we give. Whether it's our time, our talents or our treasures, being intentional about giving will outlive us and make an eternal difference. How are you investing the time you have or the talents you've been given?
God wants to know each of us personally. Our thoughts, our fears...the things that make us happy and our dreams! He relentlessly pursues us throughout it all. Even so, when it comes to worship, there are many things that can cause distraction. But at the end of the day, we love much because we've been forgiven much and we can trust Him as we pour out our hearts in worship.
The world around us is changing every day. Regardless, our mission remains the same. We will be a church that helps people move from where they are to where God wants them to be. We will be a church that loves people, no strings attached. We will be a church that spreads the hope of the Gospel. God chose you to be the messenger. Church isn't a spectator sport...it's time to get in the game!
God desires to have a personal relationship with each of us. So what does it look like to be "marked by God" and develop our own story with Him? Find out more in this message from Pastor Brian.
Have ever wondered what God's promises are for your life? What does true freedom look like and how do we live a life of purpose? In the final message of the "What Just Happened?" series, Pastor Josh talks about four core promises that will help you move from where you are to where God wants you to be.
We’ve all heard someone say they want to know “the why behind the what.” Understanding the reason behind the things we do has a lot of power. When we unite in purpose, God will do great things through us! Check out Part 4 of the series, “What Just Happened?” as Pastor Josh talks about the church being a community united in purpose.
We all surrender to something, whether it's a routine, a relationship or even a habit. Freedom is not found in careless living, but rather the willful surrender to the right person: Jesus. When we surrender to Him, He reminds us of our incredible value and brings divine order to our lives!
When we begin a relationship with Jesus, He makes all things new in our lives. But how do we leave our past behind and walk out this new life? What makes the difference between your past and your future is believing who God says you are.
The Gospel has always been about God coming to man. So, what does it mean to be saved, and what are we being saved from? Salvation is not an introductory course to God–It’s Jesus. Through Him, the price was paid to restore our right standing with God. His life was a gift given to us, because of God’s unconditional love for us.
Have you ever thought about having an entourage to hang out with you? It seems like a cool idea, but what if you already have one? We often walk around with an "entourage" of guilt, fear and shame instead of the "entourage" of love God offers in 1 Corinthians. God's love doesn't give up, never loses faith and is always hopeful, and it's available for you today!
We often see love portrayed as a feeling or emotion. But, God defines love as an action word, something that puts the needs of others in front of our own. We can all think of people in our lives that show love well...and others that don't. Love is magnetic and leaves a mark on us. How can you love people well, in the way that God designed?
God created each of us with a purpose in mind and it's all of our unique gifts and talents working together that makes life truly rich. What could we do if we set aside the differences that don't matter and came together for one purpose–to impact eternity and see people saved, delivered, redeemed and fulfilled?
In John 15 Jesus instructs us to "abide" in Him, and the quality of that connection greatly impacts our relationships with our spouse, friends, relatives and even our coworkers. When we rely on God to help us build healthy relationships the way they're meant to be, it's amazing what will happen!
What does it mean to be a woman of "noble character"? How can a man become the trusted leader of his family? What does true submission look like? Healthy relationships require a team effort, and submission does not mean women are weaker or inferior to men. Get some practical tips on how to build a strong relationship the way it's Meant to Be in this message.
We've all heard the phrase, "wives submit to your husband." Ephesians 5 is often used in a way that clouds the true meaning of "submission." So, what does the Bible really say about this area of relationships? God's design for marriage and relationships does not define one gender as superior over the other. Find out more in this message from the series, "Meant To Be".
Relationships can be tricky. Words like "submission" and "putting others before yourself" may feel like burden and can cause us to build walls that block people out. But that's not how it's meant to be! Make the choice to forgive past hurts or offenses today. God's design for healthy relationships is one of the greatest gifts He's given. Life is better together! #freedom15
This story, possibly more than any Encounter we've talked about so far, demonstrates the heart of the Gospel: the incredible love God has for us. Everything we have is a gift from Him. And, In the midst of tragic loss or trials and tribulations, God gives us His perfect, unending grace. You are not alone!
Everyone is afraid of something, making fear of one the most influential forces in our lives. But it doesn't have to be! As we enter the new year whatever may cause you to be anxious or nervous about the days to come, you can choose to face it with FAITH instead of FEAR! "For God did not give us a spirit fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline." 2 Timothy 1:7
There are so many things that can keep us from reaching out to Christ. Maybe you've never truly encountered His life-changing grace. Or, perhaps you've been "bumping into Him" like the crowd in this story, coming to church for years, going through the motions, but never reaching out in faith to accept His love and healing. Maybe you've just been waiting for God to answer a prayer in your life while watching God answer the prayers of those around you and you feel like giving up. Wherever you are, regardless of what you've done (or haven't done), the best thing you can do is reach out to Jesus. He is faithful and uniquely able to handle all our needs, in every season!
What would happen if we made it our mission to share the power of the Gospel with those around us like the men found in the story in Mark 5? These men carried their friend in desperation to Jesus because they believed He possessed the power to heal him. While critical religious leaders said it couldn't be done, Jesus recognized their incredible faith and healed their friend. Let's be a church that is known more for what we are for than what we're against. Let's be the friends that do whatever it takes to see the power of Jesus in action.
It's no secret our city and world are experiencing a great amount of turmoil. In times like these, it can become difficult to love people. But what if we set our opinions aside and decided to be the light Christ calls us to be as the Church? We are carriers of the most life-giving, hope-filled message on earth. It's time to "cast our nets" and be Jesus for our city, our country and our world.
So many of us return to the same unhealthy habits, relationships and circumstances that hold us back. We try to handle it on our own and avoid dealing with the real issues. But Jesus offers a completely fresh start. If you want to experience true freedom, you have to start with Jesus!
Jesus encountered many people during His time on earth. This week Pastor Josh talked about His encounter with Nicodemus. It was during this one-on-one conversation that Jesus delivered some of His most famous, life-changing words: "For this is how God loved the world: He gave[a] his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life."
In this last message in the Four Cups series we hear about God's desire for us to be fulfilled. He has given us skills and gifts that are meant to be used to help others. That being said, many people are not truly fulfilled because they're not "in the game." We weren't meant to live life on the sidelines. Discover your God given gifts and live a life of purpose!
God saved you for a purpose and He created you with specific gifts to accomplish it. You have the potential already inside you to make a difference in the world around you, so what are you waiting for? Discover your God given gifts and watch as His masterpiece plan unfolds in your life.
Life experiences can leave us wounded and with a skewed perspective. God not only wants to save us, He wants to deliver us from the residue of past hurts. He wants us to live a life freedom!
In this message Pastor Josh reviews the story found in John 6:1-13 that talks about the little boy and the feeding of the "5,000." He encourages everyone to recognize "what's in their hand" and allow God to transform it into something great.
