Podcast Series Summary: Conviction

Series Title: Conviction
Big Idea: True conviction comes from knowing Jesus — walking in light, living in love, and standing confidently in eternal life.
Series Text: 1 John 5:13 — “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”

In a world filled with uncertainty, anxiety, and spiritual confusion, the Apostle John wrote a letter so that believers could know — not just hope or wish — that they have eternal life. The book of 1 John is a powerful, practical manual on authentic Christianity. It cuts through the noise and shows us what real fellowship with God looks like, how love is the clearest evidence of our faith, and how we can live with bold assurance even in uncertain times.

This 13-week teaching series, Conviction, walks verse-by-verse through the entire book of 1 John. Each message is designed to help listeners move from doubt to confidence, from mere religion to vibrant relationship, and from cultural Christianity to a deeply rooted, joy-filled faith in Jesus Christ.

John doesn’t waste words. He gives us clear tests for genuine faith: Are we walking in the light? Are we loving like Jesus loved? Are we overcoming the pull of the world? Do we have the Holy Spirit’s witness inside us? Throughout the series, we’ll discover that true conviction isn’t based on our feelings, performance, or circumstances — it’s anchored in who Jesus is and what He has done for us.

What You’ll Experience in This Series:

  • A fresh encounter with the reality of Jesus — the One we can know personally, not just believe in from a distance.
  • Practical tools for dealing with sin, guilt, and shame through confession and the advocacy of Christ.
  • A deeper understanding of what it truly means to be a child of God and how that identity changes everything.
  • Clear warnings against false teachings, worldliness, and spiritual deception.
  • Powerful encouragement to love others tangibly, even when it’s hard.
  • Rock-solid assurance that you can carry with you long after the series ends.

Whether you’re a new believer wanting to build a strong foundation, a long-time Christian battling doubt, or someone wrestling with questions about eternal life, this series is for you. John wrote these things so that you would know. By the end of these 13 weeks, our prayer is that you will walk away with renewed joy, stronger relationships, and unshakable conviction in your faith.

Conviction is more than a sermon series — it’s an invitation to live the kind of Christian life that John described: full of light, overflowing with love, and anchored in the confident hope of eternal life.

Perfect for:

  • Individual listeners seeking personal spiritual growth
  • Small groups and Bible studies

Podcast Description for Arc 3: The Day of the Lord and the Final Judgment (Weeks 25–36)

In this powerful third arc of From Promise to Triumph, the story moves from the cross to the cosmic climax. As the Suffering Servant gives way to the Conquering Lamb, we enter the long-awaited “Day of the Lord”—God’s decisive intervention to judge evil, defeat Satan, and renew all creation.

Journeying through Isaiah 54–66 and Revelation 12–19, we witness Zion’s restoration, the cosmic war between the woman and the dragon, the rise and fall of Babylon, the pouring out of God’s wrath, and the triumphant return of Christ the Rider on the white horse. These chapters explode with contrasting images: barrenness turned to singing, beasts demanding worship, bowls of judgment, and the marriage supper of the Lamb.

These episodes delve into the Gospel of Mark, the shortest of the four New Testament Gospels. Despite its brevity, Mark presents a rich and profound exploration of Christ's life and teachings, offering us three key insights.

First, Mark portrays Jesus as God's divine Son, emphasizing his humanity and divinity. He presents Jesus as a man of his time, experiencing human emotions and physical needs while simultaneously revealing him as divine through numerous references and supernatural events.

Second, Mark underscores the unique, substitutionary purpose of Jesus’s death. Contrary to some interpretations, Mark provides clear evidence of a theology of atonement. On at least two occasions, Jesus explicitly states the purpose of his death - a deliberate act of self-sacrifice for the salvation of humankind.

Lastly, Mark presents Jesus's suffering and death as a model for discipleship. While acknowledging the uniqueness of Christ’s sacrificial death, Mark also illustrates that Jesus serves as an example for faithful living in a fallen world.

To sum up, Mark's Gospel provides us with a comprehensive narrative of a Savior who is both fully human and divine, who sacrifices his life for the people's sins, and whose path of suffering serves as a model for discipleship.

Spiritual disciplines are critical for spiritual transformation for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, they provide a framework or structure that facilitates consistent growth and maturation in our faith. This is vital because spiritual growth is not a one-time event but a continuous process.

Practices such as prayer, meditation, study, and worship foster a personal relationship with God. Through prayer, we communicate with God, expressing our thoughts, feelings, and desires and listening for His guidance. Meditation lets us quiet our minds and hearts to focus on God's word and His presence in our lives. Studying the Bible helps us understand God's character, His plan for humanity, and His will for our personal lives. Worship, both individually and corporately, is a way of expressing our love, gratitude, and reverence for God.

The spiritual discipline of giving, whether tithing our income, giving of our time, or sharing our talents, teaches us to be generous and reminds us that everything we have is ultimately a gift from God. It challenges us to relinquish our selfish tendencies and trust God's provision.

These spiritual disciplines are not just religious rituals or obligations. They are tools that God uses to nurture and mold us into the image of Christ. As we engage in these practices, we open ourselves up to the work of the Holy Spirit. We allow God to reveal areas in our lives that need healing, forgiveness, and transformation.

Moreover, spiritual disciplines align our lives with God's will. Instead of living according to our own desires and the patterns of this world, we learn to live in a way that reflects God's love, righteousness, and justice.

For the remainder of the summer, we will focus on what happens when it Ends.  We are talking about Heaven and Eternal Life.  The Scriptures give us a glimpse of Heaven, but much of it is unknown.  The key is that Jesus tells us to relax and trust Him that there is a place, and He is preparing it for us.  We hope this summer series is an encouragement to you.  Thanks for supporting Casper Alliance Church.

Welcome to our fall teaching series at Casper Alliance Church.  As we have gone through this year, we have looked at multiple threads stitched in the Scriptures.  This is a major thread in the Bible - The story of the church.  How did the church start, why did it grow, and how do we fit into that larger church community?  As we explore the book of Acts in an overview style, we will examine our church alongside the beginning of the church.  We believe the church is the primary vehicle created by God to advance His Kingdom and spread the Good News.  We hope you enjoy our fall series.

What are the Feasts of Jesus?

Jesus celebrated multiple Jewish feasts with his disciples.  Jesus also was the fulfillment of those very feasts he celebrated.  We will explore a variety of those feasts and gather application for us today

We are going to ask the question, "What doors do we need to open?" as we walk through the Biblical Christmas story.  In the Christian vernacular we use "the door" as a cliche to God's activity.  We might say phrases like "God closed that door" or "When God closes a door He opens a window."

The word ADVENT means the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event.  During this teaching series, I hope to challenge us to open the door to these notable arrivals

November 29 - Open the door to God's plan
December 6th - Open the door to your community
December 13th - Open the door to your heart
December 20th - Open the door to a divine encounter
December 24th - Open the door the God's love
January 3rd - Open the door to new opportunities

I'm looking forward to exploring what the Lord has for us during this season of Advent.

We have started a new teaching series this fall.  We will be talking through Genesis 12-50.  The series title is Failures & Faith.  There are so many stories throughout the Bible and some of the biggest heroes of our faith are also people with huge failures.  God loves to use our weakness and struggle to show the world who He is.  This is the story of Genesis.  God shaping His community of people in spite of their failures to show the world that He is God.

Each week we will have a supplemental talk that drops midweek.  There is just so much in these chapters to talk through on a Sunday morning.

Welcome to Midweek Talks -

There is so much to get into in the Book of Genesis, that Sunday morning shouldn't be the only place we talk about it.

My desire is that as a church family we continue to think about and process through the stories in Genesis. I've included a couple of discussion questions to help guide your thoughts or family discussions.

If you are a family with children incorporate them into the process. The questions are designed with adults in mind, but can easily be shaped for younger thinkers. To make the questions kid-centered try to focus on big concepts like doubt, fear, faith, and defining Biblical words.

Questions-

  1. Reflect on a time when you, like Abram, had doubts about God’s plan for your life. Were you tempted to take matters into your own hands without seeking God? Later, were you able to see how God brought you through, even though you thought you’d been left on your own?

  2. Reflect on times when you, like Sarai, were carried along by someone else’s decision. Did you fear that they were leading you into a bad situation, or did you have faith in their leadership? Discuss how the drive for self-preservation can sometimes cloud our judgment and obscure our view of God’s promises.

  3. Read through Psalm 105. How does the psalmist describe God’s faithfulness? In what ways can you see God’s faithfulness in your life? How can recalling God’s faithful deeds of the past (as in Psa 105) strengthen your resolve about His ability to direct your future?

Luke 19:28-40 English Standard Version (ESV)
The Triumphal Entry

28 And when he had said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.29 When he drew near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount that is called Olivet, he sent two of the disciples, 30 saying, “Go into the village in front of you, where on entering you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever yet sat. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say this: ‘The Lord has need of it.’” 32 So those who were sent went away and found it just as he had told them. 33 And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?” 34 And they said, “The Lord has need of it.”35 And they brought it to Jesus, and throwing their cloaks on the colt, they set Jesus on it. 36 And as he rode along, they spread their cloaks on the road. 37 As he was drawing near—already on the way down the Mount of Olives—the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, 38 saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” 39 And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” 40 He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”

We looked at Daniel 7 during the preaching time. This is a link to that text

Jesus and Zacchaeus
19 He entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 And behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector and was rich. 3 And he was seeking to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was small in stature. 4 So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was about to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.” 6 So he hurried and came down and received him joyfully. 7 And when they saw it, they all grumbled, “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.” 8 And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor. And if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold.” 9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

Welcome to the Sunday morning teachings at Casper Alliance Church. This week Jason is continuing the series "The Kingdom of God." Casper Alliance Church will be exploring the Luke parables on the Kingdom of God. Luke 18:9-17 is the passage we looked at this week.

In the midst of the message I deviated a bit from the original teaching plan. If you were to join our fellowship in person you would get a sense that this is what type of worship gathering we have. We love spontaneous activity. We love enjoying each other. We expect the Spirit of God to move in our church. When you put that together we become very flexible.

My Notes to see what I was going to say

Luke 18:9-17 English Standard Version (ESV)

The Pharisee and the Tax Collector

9 He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: 10 “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed[a] thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ 13 But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Let the Children Come to Me

15 Now they were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them. And when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. 16 But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. 17 Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”

We hope you are enjoying the teaching at Casper Church. You are invited to join us for our Sunday gathering at 11am

Luke 18:1-8
And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. He said, "In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, 'Give me justice against my adversary.' For a while he refused, but afterward, he said to himself, 'Though I neither fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.'" And the Lord said, "Hear what the unrighteous judge says. And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?"

3. God is giving us the  opportunity to partner in building The Kingdom of God now

Luke 16:14-17

The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things, and they ridiculed him. And he said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

The Law and the Prophets were until John; since then the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone forces his way into it. But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one dot of the Law to become void.

Luke 16:10-13
"One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? And if you have not been faithful in that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own? No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”

Welcome to the Sunday morning teachings at Casper Alliance Church.  This week December 30th, Kris Burd, one of core members, finished up the look at the Messiah through the Book of Isaiah in our series "Immanuel".  Kris explores Isaiah 53.  I hope you enjoy this teaching as much as I did.

He was despised and rejected by men,
    a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief;
and as one from whom men hide their faces
    he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he has borne our griefs
    and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken,
    smitten by God, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions;
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
    and with his wounds we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
    we have turned—every one—to his own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
    the iniquity of us all.
